SQL database engines prioritize performance, so they add a lot of metadata for service purposes. Time-space trade-off leads to high redundancy and increases compression ratio. If we pay 1000 byteballs for 1000 bytes then it doesn't mean that the DB grows by the same number, it may grow by 2000 bytes keeping the ratio always at, for example, 40%. This doesn't mean that Byteball data can be compressed well, it means that SQLite trades space for time. If we stipped out all meta data (to get only Byteball-related data) we would be able to do the measurement proposed by you. Can I expect that you will do that? |

No, you can not redefine what the "Byteball database" means when you realize you lost a bet.

When you FUDed and claimed "Byteball database grows in size" and called me a liar, then the database definition was different from the one you are trying to use now.

I explained why your method of measurement can't work, just that. Instead of 1:1 leverage SQL DB gives 1:N making things worse, i.e. by spending 5 GB I'll increase the DB by 5*N gigabytes. High entropy data still leads to worse compressibility. While you picked 30% out of thin air I'm going to measure it in practice, just need to wait for the syncing to finish. |
