I am repeating my question to make sure that those who could answer it did notice the question: Do the devs still control the majority of the witnesses? Is it really 12 servers or it's 12 processes running on a single machine or maybe it's even 1 process on 1 machine that uses 12 identities?

Iota is basically a scam, or vaporware, very big promises and little deliveries. See latest events where a few people who had bought iotatokens lost them because they failed to "claim" their tokens again.
Byteball is in livenet/production while iota is still developer-preview/beta only, hence consensus is decided by milestone-databases.
This is yet another lie. Let's recall how it was: You told a lot of lies and they all were revealed by me. 1. You claimed that Byteball is more secure than Monero and ZeroCoin. This was refuted by Byteball developer.
2. You claimed that Byteball blockchain can be compressed by violating the Law of information preservation. Nuff said.
3. You claimed that PoW can't be used as anti-Sybil measure. You still failed to explain how Bitcoin works then.

Byteball is decentralized
Right now supermajority of the witnesses is controlled by a single person, so it's not decentralized. Also no proof of Byteball belonging to DAG-coins family was presented, bold claims of a BTT member with "Activity: 140" can't be accept as proofs. The resume is so obvious I don't even need to post it. |

SHA256 doesn't need to be crackable to bring Bitcoin to knees: 4.3 Resistance to quantum computations
It is known that a (today still hypothetical) sufficiently large quantum computer can
be very efficient for handling problems where only way to solve it is to guess answers
repeatedly and check them. The process of finding a nonce in order to generate a
Bitcoin block is a good example of such a problem. As of today, in average one must
check around 2^68 nonces to find a suitable hash that allows to generate a block. It
is known (see e.g. [13]) that a quantum computer would need Θ(√N) operations to
solve a problem of the above sort that needs Θ(N) operations on a classical computer.
Therefore, a quantum computer would be around √2^68 = 2^34 ≈ 17 billion times more
efficient in Bitcoin mining than a classical one. Also, it is worth noting that if
blockchain does not increase its difficulty in response to increased hashing power,
that would lead to increased rate of orphaned blocks.

Byteball is centralized in 12 servers so it's extremely hard to take it seriously as more than an interesting experiment to see how it's version of DAG works out. If it ever actually got to the point someone could make big time money from it, and being the way people are, they could easily co-opt enough of those servers to take control.
IOTA. Already controversy over it's initial distribution and I hear CfB had shopped around for sock puppets to help out with that. Haven't even got to the point of looking into those allegations yet but that's what I already hear. Plus he seems more interested in FUDing Byteball than talking about IOTA in his own thread. I haven't even gone back there yet to continue to try and get some answers to my questions as no one seems interested in discussing anything technical about it. IOTA starts as centralized and only stops IF the hash power gets high enough. If it grows to the point where it's not really feasible for most people to run a full node, it ends up gravitating towards a small number of people running nodes and/or "pools" of people running some form of distributed nodes. i.e. it moves towards the current bitcoin mining situation (centralization).
Even with my current limited knowledge of both, I see flaws in both and all the FUDing is just a huge distraction to trying to discuss any of it.

Включить спам. Если в течение получаса не подтвердилось, то сделать Replay и подождать еще полчаса, попутно включив спам. Повторять действия до успешного подтверждения. Параллельно также отслеживать за тем, чтобы текущий сервер не отстал по milestones от мониторируемого в слэке и при необходимости переключиться на другой. По крайней мере, мне помогло. is the consensus of Iota decided by its consensus-algorithm and not "milestone" databases posted by its developers?
Milestones are used as a countermeasure against 34% attack while hashpower backing IOTA is not large enough. Also, last time I checked Byteball description that coin wasn't decentralized, so it's unclear why Byteball is mentioned in this thread at all. |

Is not a hardfork because is not blockchain. So how do you call to convert 999 999 999 iotas to 2,779,530,283,277,761? And tell me please that you didnt have to modified all your nodes to do that.
Interesting flow of thoughts. Do you imply any change of node software is a hardfork? Have you ever heard of stock splits? Your words don't make much sense to me, do they make sense to you? |
