1201  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: MtGox geht in Konkurs on: July 26, 2017, 08:25:07 PM
Er wurde auch nicht wegen geklauter MtGox BTC festgenommen, sondern  wegen Geldwäsche. Wir werden sehen. Ich würde hier allerdings keine neuen Erkenntnisse erwarten.
"The detainee was held on four counts of running an unlicensed money-transfer operation, conspiracy, money laundering in violation of 17 acts in the U.S. criminal code, and transactions in cash acquired through illicit means." - http://www.reuters.com/article/us-greece-russia-arrest-bitcoin-idUSKBN1AB27W

Vor allem der letzte Teil hört sich durchaus an, als ob die gestohlenen Gox Coins durchaus eine Rolle gespielt haben könnten.
1202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mt. Gox coins laundered through BTC-e (Breaking details) on: July 26, 2017, 07:28:39 PM
Depositing funds stolen from Mt. Gox right back into gox, now that's a rather bold move.
1203  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-e hacked ?? on: July 26, 2017, 07:10:42 PM
This is a trick from them to keep/hold/block and withdraw their coins from customer and to benefit at 1 August (if any) or later if there will be any airdrop at this date or something similar leaving their clients to not control their own money.
Being arrested in Greece, what a smart trick they played.
Let me guess, local police and the US state attorney are also involved in this clever scheme to steal BCC from customers?

5 to 10 days to restore the service? I thought It was a regular maintenance, I thought there was nothing to worry!
This extended downtime is contingency to allow the August 1 fork threat to be fully ameliorated. All funds are safe and service will be fully restored
Looking forward to that  Grin
1204  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC-e.com down ! Police detains the owner . on: July 26, 2017, 06:58:04 PM
This is ridiculous. The Americans have detained a Russian citizen in Greece, for running a Bitcoin operation from Bulgaria. Now they want him deported to the United States.
Sounds a bit like Canadian citizen gets arrested in Thailand on pressure from the US and commits "suicide" in his cell before being extradited to the US, doesn't it?
1205  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-e hacked ?? on: July 26, 2017, 04:51:30 PM
Even if some people did use it for laundering BTC obtained from illegal sources, I'd say a vast majority of the users are legitimate. I'm not sure exactly what the allegations are, but it sounds like the arrest is due to money laundry. If they indeed had anything at all to do with helping with this, or if they are just arrested because the site itself is used for this purpose nobody knows. But I'd like to think the best course of action would be

2) Look up who made the arrest (local police, FBI, whatever it might be)
Local police, acting on a U.S. warrant.
1206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC-e.com down ! Police detains the owner . on: July 26, 2017, 04:27:23 PM
Damn. How can other exchanges be safe from this?
By getting a license, like many exchanges have done. KYC/AML may suck, but it protects you from cases like this.

Well it is laundering.
It's considered "money laundering" because they were running an unlicensed exchange service.

The connection to Mt. Gox funds seems interesting.
The article also mentions another exchange based in San Francisco (Coinbase? Kraken?).
1207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC-e.com down ! Police detains the owner . on: July 26, 2017, 04:00:53 PM
I had like $300 in fiat sitting there, which I can forget about without any problems, but imagine how people must feel with huge loads of funds sitting there, with basically no way out.
Those that learned nothing from Gox, right?

That's the first source connecting both, more to follow soon, I'm sure.

I don’t know why people like to spread negative things about most popular things. Those who lost bitcoins on this site just because of their own faults should not blame site for this.
Spreading negative things is what brought the user their 2BTC back. 2BTC they did not lose and that should not have been taken from them.
I take that as a win.
1210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC-e.com down ! Police detains the owner . on: July 26, 2017, 03:07:34 PM
You sure about the names? because 'Alexander Vinnik' is the name of the guy who got arrested and you can see it on BBC news or NY times.
Nobody really is. Running an unlicensed exchange, it's understandable they prefer to remain anonymous.
The name Alexander pops up a few times when searching for information about the people behind btc-e,
for example in this article on coindesk from 2013: https://www.coindesk.com/btc-e-recent-issues-caused-surge-users/
Quote
BTC-e is anything but transparent: it uses third-party banking services to keep its name out of official records. At least one of the banks involved in the process is located in the Czech Republic; the BTC-e site references Bulgaria in its SEO descriptions; the founders, Russian programmers Aleksey and Alexander, honed their skills at the Skolkovo tech park; and the BTC-e managing company is based in Cyprus.

Digiconomist also names "Alexander and Alekey" in their Fraud Risk Assessment - http://digiconomist.net/fraud-risk-assessment-btce
Quote
The founders are called Aleksey and Alexander. And gain, little is known about them. Some media managed to talk with them, but they "wouldn't share their surnames". They might be Russian, given that the BTC-e website is also available in Russian, but other than that it's just a guess.
1211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC-e.com down ! Police detains the owner . on: July 26, 2017, 02:55:43 PM
While very likely it's not yet confirmed that the arrested person is related to btc-e, right?
IIRC the owners of BTC-e went to great length to keep their identities hidden as well as possible.
All there was known about the co-founders is their first names, Aleksey and Alexander.
With BTC-e being down right now, the timing certainly matches.
1212  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Duckdice.io [SCAM and SHADY behavior] on: July 26, 2017, 02:26:04 PM
I do not personally want a penny from you. As a DT member it's part of my duty to help users who have been scammed.
Seconded. Those are your coins, not ours.

3. You lied to everyone because you wrote that it was the first time this sort of issue happens. But when we started talking together in PM on Duckdice, you told me that this has already happened and you never refunded anyone.
How many people were just too shy to write a scam accusation against you? You will refund them, won't you?
I'd like duckdice to comment on this.

Happy to see the first step being achieved, still a lot of unanswered questions though and not fully resolved, imo.
1213  Other / Meta / Re: mods don't do anything, report function pointless. on: July 26, 2017, 10:42:29 AM
When i report it says  "You have reported 10 posts with 100% accuracy"
If you have 100% it means action was taken by staff.
Actually, IIRC unhandled reports do not influence your precentage - eg it could be 1 correct and 9 unhandled ones.

Any plans on supporting/giving Bitcoin Cash (BCC) to people who have balances on the site?
=> http://blog.crypto-games.net/2017/07/update-bip91-and-bcc.html
Glad crypto-games is handling this situation better than many online wallets and this is what everyone expected from one of the most trusted crypto gambling site. But still we can see a huge panic withdrawal from the bankroll.
While nobody should have to worry about keeping their funds on CryptoGames during the fork, having your coins in addresses you control the private keys to is the better option.
Someone who eg wants to sell their BCC as soon as possible might prefer to handle things themselves and not be subject to the dirstibution speed of CG.
On the other hand, it's a very comfortable way. Keeping your funds on CG means you can get BCC on an exchange account without having to install a BCC client and import keys there,
as CG is taking care of all those thing. I think that's a good way, especially for those who are new to bitcoin or just not as versed technologically as the average bitcoiner.

THIS PERSON JASON IS SCAM, HE RUN AWAY WITHIN FEW MINUTES AFTER TAKING ADVACNCE OF 0.25 BTC.
~snip~
That's off-topic.
Create a dedicated scam accusation in the approrpiate board (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0) if you want to point out something.

Follow our blog Wink

If there are several resulting chains, things are a bit more complicated. Crypto-Games plans to give investors access to their coins on all resulting chains. As a service, we already experienced a chain split with ETC/ETH some time back. Investors were asked to provide ETC addresses and we made payments the amount of their active investments at the time of the split. We continued to accept ETH on the site and as bankroll.
The situation for BTC will be similar. Crypto-Games will request addresses from investors for any resulting chain we no longer support. We will then pay out their share of forked coins.

1218  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Auction] Lealana Litecoins - Fully Funded 2013 Versions - 25, 10, 5 LTC Coins on: July 25, 2017, 07:43:16 AM
Last time I checked its not "fourm" rules, that when an auction ends, it ends, unless otherwise stated an auction is just a tool used to negotiate price.
It's common sense to stick to rules set in an auction OP.

and unless OP stated he would not use an alt account to bid up the auction than he is free to do so
Shill bidding is frowned upon and reason why people have received negative trust in the past.
Sure they are free to do so, and others are free to leave them negative trust as a result.

Just because 99% of you all here follow "respectable" auction rules doesn't mean that anyone HAS too.
Like you, right?
Are you arguing for changing auction terms and shill bidding because you make frequent use of both?

@OP:
fair is to honor your rules.
