1223  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: COINBASE.COM STRIKE ME AGAIN!!!! RESETS MY ACCOUNT AFTER 18 days VERIFIED on: September 05, 2013, 03:49:46 AM
So my whole motivation for ordering from them was the whole, instant deposit/withdrawal service which in theory sounds great. Unfortunately this is not the savior of the bitcoin community that they would let us believe. After a few bad transactions with them recently, one in which I was not informed until a few hours prior to my btc I bought a week prior getting deposited one of the checking account I linked had no funds on it. Which sucks because the coins appreciated at a significant rate and I lost all of that earned appreciation with no notice at all, and I easily could've bought them with my funds in my other acct. So I chalk it up as an L and move on. But today I log in and see this:

"It's been 16 hours since your 1st bitcoin purchase. Come back in 28 days and we will verify your account"

DOUBLEHUHWTFHuh!! I registered over 2 and a half to 3 weeks ago and was on my was to being fully verified, was practically counting the fukking days. I hate these people. Should I cancel my account? I try contacting them, but there is no number I can find to a service dept.

What do you all think? What would you do?

To me it sounds like your frustration is with the banking industry, not Coinbase or bitcoin.  Coinbase doesn't even require you to scan and provide various forms of ID like other exchanges.  The 30 day count begins after your first bitcoin buy or sell.

Sorry to say but its not their fault you tried to make a purchase from an account with insufficient funds!

edit: if you dont want to wait the 3-4 days for your BTC to arrive until you get level 2 verified, seek out other ways of buying bitcoin...localbitcoins or #bitcoin-otc

whether or not Litecoin goes to Gox, its only 2 years old.  Bitcoin price when it was 2 years old = ~30 cents.  Litecoin is here to stay!

Whatever happened to Bitspend.net?  I know they ran into bank troubles but I was hoping they would work it out.  That was a cool service.

1233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: How many Bitcoins do you own? on: September 03, 2013, 01:43:06 AM
Probably not the best poll, because someone with 0 bitcoin votes the same as someone with 50.

1236  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Face To Face / Internet Trading Methods on: September 03, 2013, 12:17:00 AM
Greetings,

I just started mining and am currently running at 70/GHs

I wanted to start selling these BitCoins either locally (Burlington VT Area) or through the internet.

I wanted to know what your "safe" methods are for trading BitCoin to USD.

Currently I am dealing 100% locally and a transaction goes like this...
Once a time, location, and price have been verified, I will generate a new wallet with the requested BitCoin amount so that the buyer can verify that everything is there using a website like https://blockchain.info/.

During the face to face meeting, I will hand a paper over to the buyer with the private keys (and a QR code for those whom are lazy) that can be imported into a wallet so that they can assume control over the account and transfer the funds out to their primary wallet.

The above "paper" that I mentioned is a local copy of https://bitcoinpaperwallet.com

Dealing over the internet however seems to be far more complex, when it comes to trust. I do NOT want to go first, but I understand that I am new to the selling community. What is a good way to do this? Some sort of escrow service?

For selling locally I'd suggest localbitcoins or #bitcoin-otc

You can use the transaction service provided by localbitcoins.com and not even bother with the paper wallet.

You could also just load the BTC onto a mobile wallet and when the person gives you the cash, you send the BTC to any address they want from your mobile device.

If you do use a paper wallet expect to wait around while someone imports the private key into their wallet...could take some time.  I know its not possible to importprivkey with android wallet for example so they would need to have some experience using bitcoin.  Easier to use other methods.

1237  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Btc future value on: September 03, 2013, 12:10:10 AM
I wouldn't be surprised if BTC is $1000+ next year

BTC is anything but stable...however if you look at the big picture it just goes up with time
1238  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Has anyone else tried Coinbase lately? on: September 03, 2013, 12:07:30 AM
Coinbase is about as easy as it gets, I am a big fan of using it and I started out buying my bitcoins for cash.
