Difficult subject, as others views are generally not respected. But i believe that everybody is alowed their belief as long as they dont try to convert me im fine with it.
Yes but you have to realize, they are trying to save you from enternal torment in hell. It's not an act of conversion, it's an act of mercy.
Once you peel away all the fancy gloss paint and pretty wallpaper, underneath they are simply threatening people with "Believe/join in my religious cult, or burn in hell."

I ignore people that threaten me.

Then your thinking is still in error. It's like me saying "Don't eat McDonald's every day or you will get a heart attack."

And you rebuff with, I ignore people that threaten me.

-BPB

It's completely and totally not like "Don't eat McDonald's every day or you will get a heart attack." at all, in anyway, shape or form.

"Don't eat McDonald's every day or you will get a heart attack." is a valid argument because we have a mountain of evidence that suggests eating large amounts of unhealthy food is very bad for our bodies and does increase heart attack chances greatly.
In complete polar contrast "Believe/join in my religious cult, or burn in hell." has ZERO evidence attached to it. Since NOBODY knows what happens when we die, people claiming they do know and present it as fact, are simply LYING.

So it seems no-one has any sound argument against the refugees, and it all boils down to some combination of bigotry and greed.
Accepting migrants just encourages more migrants. We know this to be true. Accepting migrants opens up the very real risk of tens of millions more.
Sure I want to help them, it's human nature. But not at the cost of destorying myself. Self-preservation is a stronger instinct than the instinct of helping others.

Put yourself in this situation...
You've just managed to jump in a lifeboat from the sinking ship Titanic. Your one of the lucky ones, but hundreds are still left in the sea and will die quickly from hypothermia.
Your lifeboat is designed to hold 100 people, but there is only 25 people in your boat.
You can see people in the sea calling for help, you could row over to pick up 75, but doing so would mean hundreds would swamp the boat capsizing it. Then everyone would die, including you.

So what do you do? Row back to help which would be certain suicide, or row away?

I wasn't ever really religious because I had issues with some of the ideas that Christianity has.
Christianity isn't the only one you can choose you know.

When the migrants finally get to their 'destination', Germany I guess. I wonder what's going to happen when they find out the streets aren't paved with gold?
They've already given us a full demonstration earlier this week of how violent and dangerous they become when they don't get their own way.
548  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Breaking News! European Refugee Crisis Resolved! on: September 18, 2015, 10:00:59 AM
Merkel has invited the whole of Africa over to Europe. Europe cannot absorb that many people, but they will still come.
The HAVE NOTS will attempt to take from the HAVES what they have.

No country is going to allow itself to be destoryed. At some point they will have no choice but to start firing the guns.....

I would see you in the place of that poor people. Maybe you are right that Europe will suffer their accommodation but you must understand that this is a forced move. Europe is obligated to act in this way. They cannot leave that people die. It is against human nature.

The fact remains Europe cannot absorb Africa without being destroyed. Simple as that. Just telling you the way it is.

If the governments won't do anything, then eventually the civilians will do something about it.

I don't think people really understand what a nuclear ticking timebomb this all is.

Thay are going to Germany to find better life without wars
Well... there isn't a war at the moment, but as Merkel has given the green light for the whole of Africa to come on over, that may change.
Europe cannot absorb Africa, something has got to give eventually......

553  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Alabama will require students to learn about evolution, climate change on: September 15, 2015, 09:14:45 AM
For the first time, public school students in Alabama will be required to understand evolution, thanks to new curriculum rules behind implemented next year. Teachers in the state will also be required to discuss climate change.

Not only did the 40-person, Republican-controlled Board of Education pass the standards unanimously, but nobody even spoke out against them at a board meeting.

Quote
http://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2015/09/alabama_will_require_students.html - "Textbooks used in Alabama science classes have carried a disclaimer sticker for years stating that evolution is a "controversial theory," not fact, and the new course of study doesn't change the warnings, which were advocated by Christian conservatives"

I'm fine with the sticker thing, as long as similar disclaimer warning stickers are glued on the bible during RE classes.

And what do you think happens if you don't confess your sins to a priest before you die?
You go to hell.
Why confess to a priest? Instead of confessing indirectly to God via some self-appointed third party, why not just confess to God directly?
You cannot forgive yourself. You need a priest to forgive your sins or speak to your father directly. Don't overestimate yourself.
Then why does the bible say you can ask for forgiveness for your sins? Oh, and the priest can't forgive you, only the Lord can.
Because you can.

You can ask for forgiveness but you cannot forgive yourself.
Only the Lord can forgive you, not the priest. If you believe the priest has to power to forgive you, you are worshiping a man and not the Christian Lord.
The Christian lord is the pope.

A priest can forgive you as he receive mandate from the pope to confess you.

Wow Shocked, the pope has self-appointed himself authority over God who gets forgiven or not.

557  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Migration crisis: Germany presses Europe into sharing refugees on: September 04, 2015, 08:36:13 PM
I heard on BBC today that UK is going to take more refugees despite early protests.
Well I hope the funding for this is going to be deducted out of the foreign aid budget.
558  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Measuring the cost of running a full node. on: August 30, 2015, 06:15:51 AM
Is it possible to measure the cost of running a full node?
You could put an electric meter on the plug of your node and measure it's consumption I guess.

We don't even have free will.
Even the giving of free will to mankind...
We MAY have free will

You can only get to heaven through Jesus Christ.
What did the humans do before he was born then?
His birth was a very recent event in the scheme of things remember.

simple, people had no access to paradise.  Grin Grin Grin
I believe that the fear of death (everyone has it) is able to convince us of nonsense very large, such as religion

Why would anyone fear death?
Since nobody actually knows what happens when we die, it's the unknown I guess.
