This maidsafe project looks epic gone all in on mastercoin, as they're fixing the price at 0.2 it's a pretty safe bet there will be a 30%+ increase within a week.  Cool
You missed a big part of that already.  Better get in now.  Buy at .14 today, sell at .21 on Friday.  I suspect by May we'll be seeing around .32.

I think it will just stick at 19.99995!!, it wont go over for the month because most of the money going into it will be to buy maidsafecoins (they're looking at raising $10m and they think about 15% of that will be raised by mastercoin.

It would be stupid to pay more than you can pay with bitcoin, but a definite sharp rise to 19.99 is on the cards. (I'm surprised it hasn't already, I think it's just 1000 Mastercoins left) coinmarket cap shows $1/4m volumes gone through in 24 hours!!!

Why do you think the market has responded so slowly to the news the price is going to be set at 0.2, surely with $10million flowing in over the next month if that is taken as the absolute truth the market should adjust quickly close to the 0.2 value like it did with the 0.08 announcement?
606  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: The Official Mastercoin Foundation, Master Protocol & Mastercoin Thread on: April 18, 2014, 11:22:14 AM
I am confused as to how maid safe coin think they will be able to sell 8 million dollars worth of mastercoin, based on current mastercoin volume on exchanges, in fact JR willet selling just 1 million dollars of mastercoin, caused a price drop from 0.25 all the way down to where it is now, let alone 8 million dollars,

The vast majority of the funding will be via bitcoin. MSC is a vehicle to allow this to be recorded on the blockchain etc. All of the people we know are using BTC to buy MSAFE. There are MSC holders who may purchase direct, but we do not see anyone converting BTC->MSC for this. We will however be doing that in the background for people with BTC. We are working with the Master Protocol guys as well as BitAngels to do this part. Our friends and staff are using BTC to buy MaidSafeCoins (including an excited me) and nobody needs to even know what MSC is.

As this is possibly the first use of MSC in such a scheme we do have some manual process in place for parts of the sale. These will be automated over time. I hope this crowd sale increases MSC value as it shows a good use for this (the intended use) as well as kickstarting this project.

So if you use Master Protocol for your crowd sale or asset sale you can do so in BTC not only MSC. This will all become much simpler in future though. It is a pretty good model as it fixes in the security of transfers etc.

Cool how are you blocking mastercoin dumping?

Yeah there's a discussion about that on  the maidsafe google groups https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/maidsafe-development
608  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: The Official Mastercoin Foundation, Master Protocol & Mastercoin Thread on: April 18, 2014, 10:15:53 AM

by simple math, correct me if I am wrong, the maidsafe team, assuming they will receive 8Million Dollar in MSC, would almost own half of the MSC at given market cap (17Million$). Where do the trusted party get the MSC from?

So, the trusted party DOES have a lot of MSC which they may choose to use, but if SafeCoin really raises the funds they think they can raise, well, the MSC will have to be purchased from whoever is willing to sell. ;-)

Eventually, Maidsafe will sell their MSC to pay their expenses, but by that time, we hope to have dozens of companies doing fundraisers at any given time.

This is the whole point of MSC. We make it useful in a wide variety of ways, and we hoard it like filthy misers when people suddenly realize they need some to play in our sandbox. Smiley

Actually, every major MSC holder I know of (including me) is investing a big chunk of their MSC into companies who release tokens on our system, so we're not hoarding all of it.

Anyway good to see Mastercoin Protocol in use, can you tell the conversion rate of msc to Safecoins?

Everything currently public should be here: http://safecoin.io/

Doubtless more detail will be added to that site and buysafecoins.com in the coming days.

there ya go bitwhizz, they will sell the MSC eventually...

I still dont see how 1btc  gets 17000 maidsafe tokens when the cost of MSC to BTC is constantly changing, and all BTC must be converted...

surely this will be a mathematical nightmare to calculate exactly who gets what amount...

and is the conversion rate taken at the time i send my BTC, or the time my BTC are traded for MSC ( not in my control if I use the trusted address )

I was wondering about this timing issue, especially at the end of the sale, obviously mastercoin & bitcoin, send first and arrive first are two different things.
609  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: The Official Mastercoin Foundation, Master Protocol & Mastercoin Thread on: April 18, 2014, 09:01:59 AM
good question bitwhizz

I have another

if 1 btc is worth 17000 safecoin ( maidsafe tokens )

how much is 1 mastercoin worth?

do I need to check current mkt value, if so which mkt? ( I would guess the decentralized one )

confused...

Mastercoin is gonna rally when all that cabbage goes through mastercoins
610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty Protocol, Client and Coin (built on Bitcoin) - Official on: April 18, 2014, 08:48:32 AM
imo, maid safe coin looks like a scam.  this will deal a big blow to master coin

I understand they're taking millions of dollars of mastercoin funding privately from a single individual at the current market price! Possibly turning JR?? into an overnight multimillionaire from this crowd-source-coin-sell!

Added by edit: Also all funds raised by bitcoin externally go into mastercoin (again by private seller or market forces would force them to pay by bitcoin because of the fixed rate 0.08)

Something stinks how can a start-up of this size and ambition be so oblivious to the fact the price isn't real as there's no volume to sell. Either entire startup corps have completely lost the plot here or it's a scam to get market rate for mastercoins!!

Has anyone technical looked into what they've produced, it's beyond me to build it. No one talking publicly from their organisation seems to have a clue about crypto in general though.

I must say, it does seem kind've nuts, meh, i'm glad i own MSC
instead of moaning, i suggest you get some MSC too

Have bought and sold for a cheeky 15% since it was first announced no real point holding it now as looks like the safecoin team are setting the mastercoin price at 0.08

Notoriety on Bitcoin talk where he posted a whitepaper sketched out to a school boy standard making little sense 9 months ago. The only business document I've ever seen that shows photos of people showering in dollars with speech bubbles clarifying the authors greed.

Following I think a 5000 odd Bitcoin investment by Sept last year he then deviated from the original crazy escrow plan, and subsequently enjoyed a 1000% Major Bitcoin rally that was enough to turn a joker into a serious contender (Given that the exodus funds is now at 1000 from 5000, I wonder what would have happened to this project without the major bitcoin upturn).

Anyway what this guy started 8 months ago as a part time work from home project around his full time job, he can now sell half of for $10m and buy back that half nex month for $1m.

Has the world gone mad?? or is it just me thinks this whole things nuts?

Who's the lucky person that gets to trade 100's of thousands of Mastercoin for Bitcoin at the current market rate through this IPO??
613  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty Protocol, Client and Coin (built on Bitcoin) - Official on: April 18, 2014, 06:00:19 AM
I wonder if the guy who's effectively won the lottery through this IPO, will try and manipulate the price.... wouldn't cost a lot relatively to make Mastercoin worth double!

Yeah he could sell like 10 - 15% of his holdings in offline transactions... and then use the cash to buy bitcoin or if he sold for bitcoin, just go in and sweep through the sell order book...

You're missing the point slightly Halfcab, this asset maidsafe coin can only be purchased with mastercoin. The IPO is aiming for $10million paid in(6-8 of which apparently has already been secured by large private investors) Bitcoin or mastercoin. 100% of all bitcoin purchases will go through this lucky person/groups hands making them overnight millionaires + plus they get the added bonus of being able to dump as many of their worthless mastercoins in exchange for shares in arguably the most interesting internet project since bitcoin.

I think JR will almost certainly become an overnight multi millionaire from this... not bad from under a years work part time in his shed!  Grin

Meanwhile it's fairly obvious the Mastercoin price is going to tank heavily after this company owns 1000's of coins they can't sell.

I think the whole things an unbelievably scandle, and can't really get my head around the true motives behind this. Why the hell would this company accept mastercoin as part of their I.P.O when there's absolutely no market volume to it and they don't need to?

Typically company stock buy-back programs are a show of good faith in their own potential, so accepting Mastercoin seems to be similar in that regard.

I personally think it's disgusting valuing Mastercoins un-liquidate-able "stocks" worth anywhere near Bitcoins at this buy in level. And why would a fundraising startup want to take such a gamble!?

If you placed a market order to liquidate around $35k worth of Mastercoin on https://www.masterxchange.com/market.php?currency=msc# the only exchange that seems to be available, you'd drop the market to a price of 0.0001 1/800th of the current price, selling at an average of 0.005 (1/16th of current market price). And this is despite the Hype around this IPO!!!

We're received a report of a loss (e.g. potential theft) of ~0.385 BTC from a Counterwallet user. No XCP or any other asset was removed, and the loss was from a "new wallet" (counterwallet.co) address that the user manually moved BTC to from their old (old.counterwallet.co) wallet. The funds went to: https://blockchain.info/address/1K31gDdh5n1GjXtbR8G2WpqnZawWEroQGD

At this point, we don't believe this is an issue with the wallet itself, but we are asking anyone with BTC in their wallet that have used the new wallet version (with the changed addresses) to log in and verify their funds are still intact. If this is NOT the case, and you have experienced an unexpected loss (of BTC especially), please (after doublechecking things) email dev@counterparty.co directly, with a report (include screenshots as well).

For now, we advise people to minimize their use of the new wallet system, but we are keeping the new system up to allow continued access to funds (and if it appears that this issue is affecting other users, we will change our stance here).

The difference from the "old" counterwallet to the "new" counterwallet was basically an update of bitcoinjs-lib (the javascript bitcoin library we use). We are in touch with the bitcoinjs-lib team about a potential issue here.

As a precautionary measure, to avoid the risk of issue in the future (even if this specific loss of funds incident does not involve counterwallet code), we are currently in the process of modifying the previous version of bitcoinjs-lib -- that we have used successfully from Counterwallet launch to yesterday -- to work with the new wallet addresses (i.e. correct HD Wallet addresses). Once this work is complete, we will resume using this previous version, and stick with it until there is a) a major point release of bitcoinjs that b) we can independently verify.

Once this issue has been fully resolved, we will be in a better position to assess the root causes, as well the impact. Thanks for your patience.

I am the user referred to here. Ask me anything.

How can it be verified that you are in fact the real Daniel P Barron?
618  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SKY] Skycoin Launch Announcement on: April 15, 2014, 07:37:47 PM
It seem like most of these proposed features (enforceable contracts, distributed trust-less exchanges, reputation systems etc) all come from the core feature of cross chain transactions. Cross chain transactions allow adding other currencies/goods to the economy that can be securely exchanged. This is a very powerful feature which solves tons of problems including the scalability ones (you can shard the currency if the distributed consensus becomes too expensive, or even add ultra low transaction cost centralized sub-currencies that can be converted back to any other currency)

I've looked into cross chain transactions before: the idea is not at all new. I've just never seen anyone claiming they had a way to do it (If I missed one, please direct me to it. ZeroCoin seemed kinda close, but didn't solve the general problem as far as I could tell). I tried to design some solutions myself, but I was unsuccessful (No surprise since I'm not an expert). If Skycoin really does solve the cross chain transaction problem, then I think we really have something here. I hope this is the case.

However I have a couple of doubts: Skycoin appears to claim supporting cross chain transactions involving existing currencies that have their own block chains already that are not effected by skycoin's. This means that actions on the skycoin side (such as a transaction failing to get included due to being involved in a double spend) can not effect the other block chain. If one version of a skycoind/bitcoin trade transaction gets accepted on the bitcoin side, but a double spend is issued on the skycoin side, I don't see how both sides would be guaranteed to reach the same consensus. Even more confusing to deal with: suppose bitcoin forked, what happens then? A block chain forking is a perfectly valid and acceptable thing (if there is a legitimate disagreement about some transaction's validity, then its forked. Usually one side is mostly abandoned (but still existent), but thats not guaranteed)

Secondly: I don't see how these problems could be solved, even within skycoin one block chains. Solving it there seems more likely to be possible, but I still don't see how it can be done. I won't say it can't be done (cryptography does pretty amazing things), but the explanation for how that works is the main thing I'm looking for.

To be clear though, even if Skycoin fails to deliver a cross chain transaction solution, it still looks like it has a lot of potential, but I'd start to be more suspicious if such a significant claim ended up being false.

You can add to the list of notably important claims the fact that they found another solution to the byzantine generals problem without the need of (PoW) mining. That's also pretty impressive and unique (AFAIK).

It also seems that any questions relating to these features aren't being answered. Also I suspect the coder is a young teen from Hackforums (he's a bronnie and coupled with his writing style fits the demographic of an intelligent 12-14 year old scrypt kiddie from this forum)
