621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: The Official Mastercoin Foundation, Master Protocol & Mastercoin Thread on: April 11, 2014, 10:17:43 AM
Can anyone explain the lack of movement in price given the revelation that up to $8m usd is going to pour into Mastercoin within the next 5 weeks, for a major IPO!?

$8m is a target. Not a definite amount that will be invested.

This IPO stinks, it's not being put out to public scrutiny let's say $2m (like counterparty) is invested that's going to rocket mastercoin volume and sky rocket the price. But from an investment point of view it will mean 2.5% of all coins are purchased by the end the end user during the IPO while 15% (6 times the amount) are owned by safe corp!!

Got a thread back, nice one
Whats is the reationship between master coin to safe coin?

apart from the fact you can buy safe coins with mastgercoins
what links the two together, does safe coin exist on top of the master protocol?, as i thought that wasn;t the case due to teh way its meant to be used,

Below is an excerpt from https://github.com/maidsafe/Whitepapers/blob/master/Project-Safe.md

7. SAFE Crowd Sale

The crowd sale will be operated as follows:

A fixed number of MaidSafeCoin will be issued during the crowd sale

The sale will last until all coins have been purchased (circa $8million) or 30 days has passed, whatever happens first

Within that period, public funds in the form of bitcoin and mastercoin can be sent to exodus bitcoin address via www.BuySafeCoins.com

Each participant will purchase an intermediary coin, MaidSafeCoin

A quantity of 429,496,729 coins will be available for purchase, this equates to 10% of all safecoins

Early buyer incentives are in place to reward early participation (see chart below)

It is estimated that participants will purchase 17,000 MaidSafeCoins for 1 bitcoin

All purchases and transctions will be recorded on the Bitcoin block chain via the Mastercoin protocol

The deposit of funds in the exodus address will auto generate the appropriate level of MaidSafeCoins, they will be reciepted in the participants mastercoin wallet

Once the full network is launched these will be traded on a 1:1 basis for safecoin

Each participants safecoin wallet will be credited as the full network is launched and they create their SAFE network accounts

In the event that not all coins are sold, the remaining coins will be burned

All details are available at www.safecoin.io

</excerpt>

How could the MaidSafeCoin be recorded via the Mastercoin protocol?  There is no 'user currency' feature yet.
Instead they are using a Mastercoin-style fundraiser.  They are going to announce their 'exodus address' on 22-April.
There will apparently be a separate 'exodus address' if you wish to send Mastercoin instead of bitcoin.

Hmmm an IPO that values itself as a quarter of bitcoins market cap or over $1billion at IPO stage interesting hahahhahahahahahaha

i think you have your maths muddled by a factor of 10

(1BTC/17000 ) x 4bil = 235200BTC x $425 - approx $100 mil

100 milion dollars

If you compare its innovation to something like angry birds which is valued at a few Bil, and is a brain dead app, its doesn't seem to bad, the code is supposedly patented (correct me if i am wrong), so it can;t be ripped off either

My mistake, yes you are correct, but I feel you are very muddled with the relevance of comparing this IPO to the epicly successful games developer Rovio!!!

A $100m IPO for something in development still seems horrendous IMO!

Does anyone know a method of using Bter without creating several support tickets and ripping out half your hair everytime you want to send some funds?  Huh

Hold on let me make an Alt to quote myself, be back in 5.

Only Bellabite is troll enough to accuse everyone of being Bellabite, Bellabite!!  Wink

You know I didn't even think about that but see, porcupine came off to me early on as a bright individual with a lot of constructive things to say, which made it much more difficult to deal with the accusation... If anyone knows of anyway to at least provide decent evidence let me know.....

I would have accused me of being the other person who said "ask bellabite", or accused me of being bellabite as I'm also a bit of a sarcastic w**ker!! I don't really understand how you came into it you're one of the helpful people!

Edit: in fact I wouldn't have accused me as I stopped smoking marujana as a teenager and don't suffer from paranoid thoughts about who's, who behind a computer alias.

Can't seem to import my private key when I go to export unencrypted on blockchain.info I get a little box with code in it (I'm sure my private keys in their somewhere!!) Tried copying everything that looks like a key but get this message everytime!

Not a valid private key.
Enter the unencrypted private key that cooresponds to the address with the funds you want to move.

Chang check my youtube how-to http://youtu.be/Gj11Lmc7GMU

1. make sure the unencrypted format is Bitcoin-QT
2. copy private key :"priv":"..............................."

636  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas Antonopolous raising funds for Dorian Nakamoto on: April 06, 2014, 05:50:53 AM
Anyone that believes Andreas will be anything short of honest must have a screw or two loose.

First, Mr. Antonopoulos has always been a very honest, forthright, and generous person.  Second, the amount of BTC donated here is quite small compared to what it would cost Andreas if he attempted any sort of scam.  The damage that would do to his reputation would directly impact his own finances, due to the stigma it would put on the businesses he either owns, or is involved with.

Personally, I think he is a legitimately good person, and has only the best intentions.  But, even if you were to assume that is not true, it would still make no sense for him to steal a sum this size.  Now, if this fund contained thousands of BTC, then I could understand a bit of concern over transparency...but that is not the case.  Let him handle it as he wants, and he will get it to Mr. Nakamoto when, and how, it is most convenient to himself, and to Dorian.

absolutely.  and if Augusto Croppo has any doubts, put your money where your mouth is.
I'll give you 10 to 1 odds.

I am in for that.

I bet all my coins that Andreas will deliver as soon as he is back from his time out.
Anyone willing to take my bet?

If as soon means within 24 hours of making public communication and it's at 10 to 1 I'm in Smiley
637  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas Antonopolous raising funds for Dorian Nakamoto on: April 05, 2014, 08:10:46 PM
What is your agenda in repeatedly stating that Andreas is running a scam?

Whilst that is of course possible, it seems highly unlikely that one of the best known names in the bitcoin community would destroy their reputation for a relatively small sum.

Will you be posting a public apology after Andreas delivers the funds?

LoL

Trendon Shavers was the "community" financial leader until his scheme imploded.

Bruce Wagner was the televised voice of the "community" until he got away with plenty of  BTC which did not belonged to him.

Patrick Harnett was the "community" bastion of the good credit until he vanished with Mircea's BTC.

Zhou Thong was the "community" most young intelligent lad until he was caught stealing Bitcoinica's customers BTC.

LoL

Public apology for what? For my right to freely express what I think?

Trendon Shavers clearly ran a ponzi scheme, i feel sorry for the people involved with him not because of what they lost but what they never had (brains).

Bruce Wagner just needed 1 letter in his name changed and re-positioned to form what most people would describe him as. If he was a voice associated with bitcoin it was certainly self imposed.

Patrick Harnett was offloading his toxic pirate debt ahaaa he's the best example on your list.

Zhou Thong was and still is a very intelligent lad but I don't think he stole anything.

I can't seem to find instructions for sweeping a blockchain.info wallet with the online counterparty wallet anywhere, also is there an official launch time tomorrow?
640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty Protocol, Client and Coin (built on Bitcoin) - Official on: April 04, 2014, 03:48:29 PM
Why does blockscan.com always show the dex price as 0.01 when that is clearly not the price on any exchange?
Well yeah. That's the last price that XCP was sold on the dex. It wouldn't show any price on an exchange.

I know it wouldn't show the price of an exchange, but if you're correct it's the last price that XCP was sold for on the dex it shows the Dex is never/very rarely used by anyone  Undecided
