721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [SCAM ALERT] ***********EMUNIE - CAUTION ADVISED************* on: February 18, 2014, 02:50:59 PM
It always makes me sad to see so many people using foul language, which belongs in the gutter, towards other 'perceived enemies' in a forum.

When you only read/listen and believe rumors about another person from a forum - you are yourself the biggest loser.
Without 100% knowing the reality you are not competent to attack others.

I tend to agree with Fuserleer's comment that there should be a license to be allowed to comment in a forum.

The interesting thing is that a person you attack in a forum is basically just a fictive someone behind a username. And it is easy to sit in your armchair and spew doom on another username hidden behind your own comfy username, without repercussions: 'Oh so anonymous - I'm superior!'

But the reality is that if you meet that username you so happily attack, he/she may turn out to be one who could be your best friend because you realize you are in sync with opinions and life-view. Things you cannot possibly sense in a forum.

So stop this foul language and those stupid accusations.
Everything will be revealed when eMunie goes LIVE, and I can tell you that I have a strong feeling it will be big.

If the dev is making a good deal of bucks on it - well he made the effort, I didn't, so good for him - I'll be happy with whatever I can get out of it.

Well said.

WTB 2,648,755.92 XCP my pm doesn't work on here so reply with offers.

Would you pay first ?
If you can do it, the trade would be very fast.

Otherwise no because I am waiting for escrow from an other buyer.

OK but only if you've got the full amount, I'm only interested in bulk purchase

I think it's worth as least as much as mastercoin...

I thought mastercoin was just a business plan dacoinmaster wrote on the back of a napkin does it really exist? what does it do?
730  Other / Archival / Re: Counterparty (XCP) Buy/Sell Thread with Google Doc on: February 15, 2014, 03:07:43 PM
Selling 1500, 0.005 BTC each!
pm me with amount.

Why? There's buy orders for 1500 between .0072 and 0.005 on www.poloniex.com so that sales about $1000 undervalued.

The only thing I can think of is that Counterparty sends BTC from a specific address to another, and uses the origin and destination of the BTC to determine the origin and destination of the XCP. I don't really see the need for that, but if that's how it works, I guess there isn't a way around it.

Space in the bitcoin blockchain is a scarce (and expensive) resource.

By reusing the BTC send address as the XCP send address, you get the following for free:
* the send address already being part of the transaction
* the proof that the sender "owns" the XCP send address (by bitcoin-validated scriptSig containing ECDSA signature)

That's sort of a big deal. If you want to use separate addresses for XCP, embedded as metadata in bitcoin transactions (which currently relies in the CHECKMULTISIG trick, the "expense" of which a bunch of people have been complaining about lately)... then you also need to embed a signature scheme for proving ownership of your XCP addresses and can't just rely on bitcoin's heavily battle tested one for free.

That's a LOT of extra data to be trying to stuff into bitcoin transactions. It'd contribute significantly to blockchain bloat, and would cost you a lot more in fees because of the unnecessarily large size (in kBs) of each transaction (and if it wouldn't, it certainly ought to.)

On top of that, the security of your XCP transactions would now be highly questionable.

I imagine that would be why the devs have designed counterparty the way it is :-)
(Incidentally, you'll notice most other coloured-coin schemes out there do something similar.)

+1 Good explanation and improves me understanding a little bit more.

Only other point to add is that we are also eagerly waiting 0.9 Bitcoin wallet so that we can start using OP_RETURN. This is supposed to simply the process and cost. I don't completely understand how but I am sure you have a succinct explanation Smiley

0.9 BitcoinQT is being tested at the moment, it would be a good idea for the counterparty community to get involved with this, scroll down to the bottom of this link for details: https://bitcoinfoundation.org/blog/?p=290

Does anybody understand, what was the point of Gunshot's 100 posts?

If he had made 10 posts, sure, he's probably a little weird and OCD about shouting really loud when around people. But 100s of posts? He's likely a mastermind of disinformation. He knows how to scare people and profit from it. Cometh the hour, cometh the man, we must brace ourselves for this is not an enemy we know.

I'm not sure if Mastermind's the right word, I think fuckwit's more apt
740  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: January 29, 2014, 10:55:13 AM
Why should they wast they time to answer to people who are incapable to read the official docs? >90% here is just FUD/totally unqualified posts.
People who really are interested should take at least 1 hour and read about it and try to understand it. Maybe not everything is so easy for the first moment and the IPO has some complexity, but to write SCAM without having any idea about it, disqualifies just yourself.

They will not listen to reason. Soon they will be in here again. The likes of gutshot5820 sleep now, but soon they wake... Reinforce the barricades! While we still have time!

If you see his latest post he claims he's so excited about buying in on this he was trolling to try and reduce the volume of the buy in, in the hope of making his stake bigger. Why he spent so much time passionately trolling the thread to admit that before the buy in is beyond me!  Huh
