Don't forget to set custom change address to your main balance address when you spend your coins. Otherwise your VPS wallet file won't be consistent with a wallet file on your local machine (which is not good for backup purposes). It's also important to note that for the sake of security you should delete the bash history on the VPS node every time you open an encrypted wallet for minting from a command line via SSH. It can be done with the following command (in the console window where you have entered the passphrase): "history -cw && shred ~/.bash_history -n 3 -z".

U think someone could steal it from VPS?
I use unencrypted wallet.

What iantunc recommends is a VERY good idea (thanks for the protip iantunc). When it comes to securing your coins, there is no such thing as being too paranoid.

If the bootstrap "does nothing" then you are doing it wrong. What should happen is it begins to bootstrap and will maybe go anywhere from 5,000 blocks to 100,000 blocks before hitting an orphan that throws of the bootstrap. I am working on adding some proper orphan handling to the bootstrap processing, but it will not be ready tonight, or maybe even this week.

If your bootstrap "is not doing anything", make sure to carefully read the instructions again. For daemon you should have something like "./hyperstaked -loadblock=bootstrap.dat"

really? I was always under the impressions having it named in the data dir was enough for it to work. if this is the case it should be added to the docs somewhere

{edit} also, how long are we talking? I would guess its at least an hour or so to bootstrap a virgin wallet. at least. might be worth looking into to avoid folks jumping the gun about a frozen client if we could say 'bootstrapping takes and average of x'

Patience is key

they said paid each 8 days ,,,,
I am no patient

so i will quit

It is 8 days minimum. HYP is one of the highest difficulty PoS coins. If you are not patient, then yes you are correct it is not for you. If you are patient, you get a fairly generous stake reward.

speaking of which, would there be any sort of universal way we could compare that across different coins? I vaguely remember chatting with you about net diff once and how its not always calculated the same ways... or did I just dream that?

Care to elaborate on "MultiSend CoinStake" ?

You didnt hear the news??!!!!?? I added a special functionality to MultiSend that lets you send the multisend tx in the actual staked block instead of waiting for all those confirms and then sending. I am 97% sure this needs extra work to make it compatible with exchanges, as it is now the daemon will see it as a minted transaction rather than received from another address.

ya know, that sounds vaguely familiar but in all honesty, I was probably drunk at the time.

that is pretty damn sexy.

i have 2 wallets ruining on 2 computers 100000 hyp + 60000   (first does multisend to the snd) and sins a week both wallet crash  2-3 times a week  Huh

Ok, what else can you tell us? What OS? What wallet version? Daemon or Qt? What does the log say? How much wood could a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood?

I have received some information about this. It is believed to be transaction malleability testing on the HYP network, which can send in transactions that are not able to be handled by certain builds of the wallet (for example Windows 32 bit builds). Apparently PeerCoin suffered from this style of attack last month which caused a major fork in the chain essentially between different operating systems (as I understand it). I am testing the patched peercoin code that is believed to handle this, and will commit it to the repo and release a new version of the wallet if all goes well.

I'm lazy AND ignorant, link for that? TOTALLY didn't hear about it..

OSX wallet will be up in a few boss.

Few links for ya sir.

Cryptopia has Genstake in the pending requests area and it is awaiting moderator review. Once we get listed then we all need to vote and get listed by year's end.

About the block splitting you were totally right. Talk about a sexy one though

and to add to that you can start browsing the richlist and looking at what block sizes are staking at what date and % to get a feel for the real world aspects of blocksize.

I have a question and Help

I have noticed that network weight is climbing. And for me have had a chance to stake in two and a half days should I redo my wallet block  size to hire block size from 250 - 300  to like 600  or just leave it alone. my percentage 15%.

Let me know what I should do

Yes network weight will slowly increase as more people stake G3N. You best bet would be to size your blocks into larger sizes once they stake. Until they stake, just leave them alone or you will lose any weight they have already gained. My blocks are sized at 100 currently, however, I have quite a bit more blocks than most. I will probably start making my blocks larger once POS diff hits 0.3.

ty

I thinking on getting a 2nd raspberry pi and use g3n wallet , is the windows  wallet.dat compatible so I can just transferred it over ?   if I decide to get a pi I might need some help installing raspberry pi wallet , I'm more familiar with windows , or if you get some time can you make a installing instructions

thank you
kprell40

I am almost 100% certain that the wallet.dat is not platform specific so you should be ok. Worse case you could just dump then import your privkey.

Have you ever used linux before?

Are you going to cook yourself or use one of the bins?

What is the link to the new repo?

Presstab I thought we parted ways and agreed to stay out of each others threads. Did we misunderstand each other?

Vegas

This is hilarious...I can only imagine the background behind this one...

So ive really been trying to cool off and forget what Presstab did to us, but I just cant shake it. So, I sent him a PM and told him what a piece of crap scumbag dev he was for leaving us with a broken wallet unannounced after I paid him loads of money. I am really angry because you guys trusted me to do my best for you, and I failed. I thought my choice was good, but what he did was take a boat load of money from me, then bail and left us with a broken wallet. Has this EVER happened in crypto before? Sound familiar? Yes, he is the same as all the rest. Then he lies and says he is "on vacation for 2 weeks", then he just made a post to his rate coin, TODAY!?!?!?!. The fix took Keesdewit 30 minutes TOTAL!!! Why couldnt have Presstab done that? Even if he is on vacation he certainly has access to a computer, and time to use it. So I just wanted to make that known that I sent him a nasty gram. I think he is a coward, and I doubt he will show his face here, but I hope he does, cause when he does, I will unload so much nasty truth, he will run like the coward he is. Now.. I can move on, unless he wants to try to take it up with me right here, and I will throw him around this thread like a rag doll. Sorry for the drama guys, but I took an oath to do my very best, and ALWAYS protect the investors that have trusted me, and hold strong, the integrity of this coin. I want to be clear: I will ALWAYS defend us. We are the first real cause to change crypto, and we wont fail. The scammers need to be "outed", and ALL of them will. I failed at choosing an honest dev, and Im mad as hell, that he has hurt all of us. The ONLY thing thats keeping me somewhat calm is we ended up with the best and most honest dev in the world, my hero, Keesdewit.

Vegas

I am in Brussels using my mobile phone from my hotel wifi... you sir are crazy.

Also I never had any contract or anything with you so not sure why you are under the impression that I have some sort of responsibility to fork your coin five times a month.

I guess when vegas went crying to mprep to get posts deleted he forgot to flag this as well.
260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Team FLY : v1.6.2 wallet released! The most trusted coin in crypto! on: November 20, 2015, 12:03:44 AM
If you look at the fees, most people with very little money pay near nothing to withdraw .5 fly or 1-2 fly. The punishment starts at 8 FLY or more. So EVERYONE can withdraw at low fees at low amounts.

Vegas

10% is not a low fee where I come from. Its actually horrible on buying only 1 or 2 coins. I dont think this will attract new buyers at all.
Still no clarification on staking to Exchange without a name claim? Can you verify if the low fee only applies to name claimed addresses.

I am going to assume you are planning on hard coding the richlist addresses into the wallet and exempting them from fees. So the only significant fees going to the superfly wallet is from new investors.

Cant say I am excited.

Which would be a good time to learn a little about programming and just add your address to the wallet exempt list and recompile.

Well there will be countermeasures for that, there will be MANY checks in many places. But more than that.. What does it say about a person that would cheat the system?

Vegas

Oh? In your expansive knowledge of c++ would you care to expand on that?

No. There will be many checks and in many places for tampering. As this is a security issue, I cant comment more. Thanks for your question.

Vegas

lol. I will let you in on a secret duder, it's open source. Any commit from this point on will be your 'security' and very obvious to circumvent. Free advice (though you are hardly deserving) if you made a product people actually wanted, you wouldn't have dumpers. You'd think spots would of at least taught you that.

Good luck storming the castle.

xoxo
