There are a TON of answers to that question but I am only going to give you one. If you are doing all the coding/dev work yourself yout would be very smart to allow others to look at your code for when shit hits the fan and you need help fixing something. There are many talented folks on these forums and with a project like yours I'm sure you will be getting their attention.

1165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best pure POS coin? (or alternative 'mining') on: August 02, 2014, 02:31:39 AM
whats so great about POS anyway?

Well in my very biased and bigoted opinion, PoW does nothing but waste a fuck ton of electricity which regrettably is usually made by the burning of fossil fuels (or worse). PoS on the other hand, can be fully utilized on something as basic as a Raspberry Pi that can easily be solar powered for a 'reasonable' amount on money. I say reasonable in the sense that it would be insanely cost prohibitive to power a GPU card or ASIC via solar cells for generation of coins/network health.

You want to use crypto currency to change the world, its much more feasible to connect the world with pi's then a gpu farm.

[edit] Or wind etc... maybe a pig farmer could burn enough methane to make it profitable but thats getting pretty far fetched.

I'm going to be off getting a tan for the weekend but will update on Monday...presstab has told me he has some irons in the fire so things are chugging along. I'll pop into IRC at some point of course as usual. Have a good weekend guys!

Sounds like fun!!  And yes I am hoping to release an updated version of the client tomorrow. Not mandatory of course, but will include all of the recent changes.

Like what? Come on, don't leave us hanging.

Hyperstake is 100% PoS

Sir the link on the Slimcoin page to the ANN is broken.

I believe Devs are already mining with GPUs like no tomorrow.
If this were the case CPU mining with EC2 would not be remotely profitable. It's clearly not the case...

No, if few people are mining with GPU, CPU is still profitable.

Wouldn't take much to keep up appearances.
1171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Get 10 PPC for setting up a Peercoin node on a Raspberry Pi on: July 30, 2014, 03:36:22 PM
Could be as easy as adding a requirement of a pic of a kill-a-watt or something... ton's of low power arm boards on the market these days
1172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Get 10 PPC for setting up a Peercoin node on a Raspberry Pi on: July 29, 2014, 09:17:39 PM
Well this is definitely a great idea... let me take inventory of my unused pi's and I will see if I can get one running.

One last question, is this just for Pi's? Or would other low usage arm boards qualify?
1173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Get 10 PPC for setting up a Peercoin node on a Raspberry Pi on: July 29, 2014, 05:27:36 PM
Giving away money?

Ok I will bite... do you have too many PPC or is PPC in that dire need of full nodes?
1174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [TEST RELEASE] Cryptonite binary for linux (NEW: Qt and Windows builds) on: July 28, 2014, 12:40:32 AM
can we use this release for live mining?  or will we need to download again?

no you can't use same one. notice the current builds crash without -testnet. Release build obviously won't have that problem.

Could  you  please  post  how  to  compile  under  linux  with what dependency  before lunch?
And  also  the  cryptonite.conf file.

https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/master/doc/build-unix.md

plus  libgmp-dev

The dependencies are the same as Bitcoin with one extra requirement: libgmp-dev

You probably are missing the testnet flag. You can do this by either making a shortcut to the exe and adding -testnet to the target line, or add
Code:
testnet=1
to your cryptonite,conf
1177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [TEST RELEASE] Cryptonite binary for linux (NEW: Qt and Windows builds) on: July 27, 2014, 10:40:03 PM
lol if you read this whole thread you can see a lot of me forgetting things like that
1178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [TEST RELEASE] Cryptonite binary for linux (NEW: Qt and Windows builds) on: July 27, 2014, 10:34:26 PM
Windows qt crashing here, using win 8.1  Undecided

1180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HYP] HyperStake | Proof of Stake | 750% Annual | Coin-Swap & AllCoin on: July 27, 2014, 10:12:11 PM
Also I have successfully added stakeforcharity to the GUI. Now I just need to put some polish on it before I commit it. I am going to see if I can get the .ico to cooperate the way zeewolf suggests with different images per resolution.  Throw all that together and should be ready for our weekly wallet release v1.0.4

eagerly watching the github for that sir. Damn good work.
