201  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: March 03, 2024, 06:31:47 AM
With Murray out this is a tough bet.  Denver is still great without Jamal and Lakers have a tough time matching up with joker.  I couldn't decide either way on this one.  I'm actually looking at the over under and thinking on taking the over 227.  It's on national television so lebron is definitely playing and you are gonna see another big night from him.  Haven't seen the lines but I'm probably going to take the over on his points his rebounds amd his assists.  Most likely he will hit on at least 2 of those 3.

You have won your bet if you bet on the over. The line on the total was 230.5, but the total score is 238, so it's a win. Regarding Jokic's performance, he had a great night with 35 points and 10 rebounds, the typical Joker we are seeing who is still unstoppable. Davis could not contain him, and Davis only delivered 17 points with 11 rebounds.
202  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we in a crypto bubble? Is a possible correction coming soon? on: March 02, 2024, 09:58:50 PM
I've been half expecting the market to dip and calm the hell down since back 50k. Seeing as it's in no way doing that, or any of the dips that did happen are rather insignificant since it just pumps right back up, hardly doubt we'd be seeing a correction anytime soon. Maybe at least till we hit ATH? I think most people are having the FOMO feels right now due to how much the market has pumped up in the past month or so. If we somehow breakthrough above 70k though then I don't really expect any correction coming anytime sooner.

We have been threading the needle at $62,000 and just like you, we thought that we will have a correction, but nothing has happened so far or at least the bulls doesn't want that as the market is in FOMO mode since last month and has never stop.

And with that kind of mindset and sentiment, this bubble might continue and will not stop until we hit new all time high before the halving?

What's important though is that even if we break $70,000, no one is going to sell. I mean, yeah why not, take profits, but if you are looking for more, then why wait and have the patience to see it get to at least 6 digits, IMHO.
Its still early to say that we might not face some price correction throughout the process. I still have this feeling that any moment from now we will experience some price decline so we better get ready for it and hold tight to our bitcoin. However, we aren’t in full control of the market but if FOMO gets high these days, I guess the market won’t allow some price correction as of this moment but eventually, it will still come into possibility later on.

There is still a big bubble in the market and we kinda like it. My point is no matter how far this will be going to happen, at least we should still hold on to our bitcoin and just sell only when the final bull run is here.
203  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Or Investing which one is better to focus on right now? on: March 02, 2024, 09:19:15 PM
...I want to know what guys do. Are some of you trading the market regardless or some of you are like me, investing and observing the market

Investing is less risky than trading, but nevertheless it is necessary to have a basic education that will help you choose the right investment object. You can also consider trading if you still have a lot of free time, but in this case you need to improve your level of education so that trading brings you profit, not losses.
You can embrace both, invest and at the same time do some trading. But prior to that, make sure you have acquired basic knowledge in trading and just learn to improve it when you’ve gained good experience in the market. Trading is more risky but there is bigger promising profits on it, no wonder why a lot jump into trading even without learning even its basics.

Don’t limit yourself in investing and hodling, but learn trading as well. If you want to maximize your profits in the market, go on extra mile. Develop trading skills and strategies, it will end up easier for you in the end no matter how hard it is in the beginning.

204  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it time now to use Premium VPN when playing in the casino? on: March 02, 2024, 02:09:59 PM
There's a risk of getting flagged for having multiple accounts sharing the same IP address. However, I think that risk may be higher if you have significant winnings. I don't know exactly how their mechanisms work, but it's likely not an automatic process, and they would conduct an investigation. Nevertheless, taking preventive measures is advisable. If you see it as a risk, finding an alternative solution like not letting your friends use your network or subscribing to a VPN, as you mentioned, is a good idea.

Based on my experience, I used to gamble regularly in our office, and my office mates did the same. I never experienced any problems with multiple accounts issues, probably because at that time, the rules were not strictly enforced yet. This was about 5 years ago.
205  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 02, 2024, 12:34:26 PM
It will be a bad strategy if Canelo is reserving everything for a Bivol rematch. He is not getting any younger, and he should have rematch Bivol early, instead of going into John Ryder and Charlo fight, it will not add anything to his legacy (if he is still after it).
Maybe he is already content with his achievements now, and that is his legacy. For now, he doesn't want to take higher risks; he's done with that aspect. What he wants is just to cherry-pick and make money consistently. I know fans are upset as things aren't going the way we'd like for him, but, after all, this is business.

Beterbiev vs Benavidez could also be an intriguing match up. Both have power but Benavidez a bit taller and so we will see how Beterbiev can counter that height and reach advantage. But we will see, LHW division is looking to be very interesting division as Benavidez is moving up to challenge the two Russians.

And that will make Canelo slowly fade from the spotlight. Champions are seeking to fight for other champions, even moving up to have a better challenge. Unfortunately, Canelo has stopped challenging himself, especially after his loss to Bivol.
206  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: March 02, 2024, 11:13:57 AM

LeBron James and Anthony Davis had a really great performance in this game. Anthony Davis dropped a 40 bomb and LeBron James scored 31 points. I agree with you, at various points of the game, I thought the Lakers were going to lose this game. But in the end, they were able to win the game in overtime. If you look at Wizards, Marvin and Jordan Poole played very well for the Wizards.
I can see Lakers will play the Nuggets in the next game. I think that game is also going to be very close.

Great performance for both superstars, but it wasn't really a great performance for the Lakers as a team. They could've win it without sending it to overtime if they played tight defense even just in the 4th quarter. That was a high scoring game and the defense for both teams were too loose. Well, the Wizards is dead last in defensive rating so it's not gonna be surprise if they don't really play defense in an actual game lol, but the problem with the Lakers on that game is that they have adopted how the Wizards play. Poole was hitting long 3s and Kuzma was clutch down the stretch, that gave the Lakers a hard time winning the game that send them to overtime. That's something they really don't want to happen ahead of a Denver game. Let's see how the Laker team handle the fatigue and hopefully AD and LeBron will play.

Nothing to be surprised about with the Lakers, as they have been playing like that this season. What matters is that they were able to win the game. I think they were coming from a back-to-back game at that time after beating the Clippers, so that's fine. As I mentioned, what matters is they won the game.

The Wizards are not a bad team at all; they have the talent and can also win games. So credit to them for giving the Lakers a tough time, but it was the experience of the Lakers that helped them secure the win. As of now, the Lakers have two straight wins and are in the 10th position in the ranking. If they continue winning, their ranking will improve.
207  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who is newbie and how long does it take to navigate the forum? on: March 01, 2024, 01:30:26 PM
There are many new forum users who already know a lot about cryptocurrency and bitcoin forums. But they didn't account on the forum. Now opening a new account they describe the details. So we should all talk to newcomers with respect. Also there are many other forum users who are new to bitcoin forum. So basically we think they are new but they are very old veterans.

You are one of the examples. You have been in this forum since 2013 yet your forum rank is Member. Now, if someone thinks that the user is completely new, it will be their mistake. There are a lot of forum members who haven't been on this forum, but they know many things about Bitcoin that some of the legendary members don't know.

The problem is, that some new members start to teach other newbies about the forum. If they teach each other about technical things, then it should be okay. But, when you see that a newbie teach other about how this forum works, then they could be alt account.
I actually don’t have issues newbies educating these higher rank positions in the forum regardless of any topic. They have all the means to do that since this forum is not limited only to higher rank members to teach lower positions. As long as they are stating facts and they are giving us relevant information, then I think that will do more good to us.

Meanwhile, it’s also our obligation to evaluate those information we perceived if they’re legit or not. Otherwise, it’s a shame for us if we cannot differentiate those right from wrong information, which I think even newbies are capable of doing that through doing extended researches outside the forum.
208  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Isn't trading almost like gambling? on: March 01, 2024, 11:24:54 AM
It is almost like gambling, it is right. Of course, some traders who claim they are experts will never say yes but for beginners, that is meant to be, they rely mostly on luck like gambling. What to expect from a novice? They just know the basics, have less experience, and low level of TA, it was certain that they were asking for some market favor and being lucky for their calls, and the chances are the same as they gamble.

Really that not hard to make up such comparison on which simply sticking with the main idea.

1. Trading = investment/income source
2. Gambling = leisure/entertainment

There is a big difference in meaning but some approach seems to be the same. Unless you have enough knowledge and skills. In fact, for some people gambling is not an entertainment anymore but a source of income.

Both trading and gambling have certainly one goal, that is to gain profits. Even legends in gambling would agree to that. Entertainment will only follow if you are in profits. However, with trading, you will have the best advantage of you have high knowledge in technical, fundamental and even sentiment analysis, along with skills and strategies, and the positive attitudes in trading. That way, you will end mostly your trades with financial gains.

However, not all traders are inclined to their craft and are profitable. But with good amount of experience, these novice traders will definitely grow in time and will turn into proficient traders in the market.
209  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If everyone is holding their bitcoin, will there be a balance? on: March 01, 2024, 07:44:41 AM
I have read several posts encouraging people to hold their bitcoin for the greater good of bitcoin and probably more reward in the future.
People have also been encouraged to spend their BTC when they get the chance, you can spend it in stores that accept BTC as payment, that is also for the greater good of BTC, and to promote BTC as money. However, people are free to do whatever they want with their BTC's, but it is just not possible that there would be a time when nobody is going to sell, people would surely want to convert some of their coins to fiat for different reasons.
Bitcoin, as much as it’s a highly profitable investment for now, but we should also not forget that it’s created for its currency purpose. So how can we promote bitcoin if we are not actually utilizing it based on its purpose? But in reality, there’s always buying and selling scenarios in the market. While some people may be greedy and would want to accumulate more coins, others may also want to reap what they have been hodling for long. Of course, if they won’t resort into selling, they will never enjoy the profits from hodling.
210  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is sharing insights the key to better trading? on: February 29, 2024, 10:03:30 PM
No one can actually say they became successful traders all alone without help directly or indirectly from other sources. Insights from reliable sources have been very useful to many traders who really know what they are doing. But, relying so much on insights is not good for the growth of any trader. Many traders fail because they blindly get help from just any source because they lack the knowledge to trade with high confidence without seeking validation from just any source. Insights are supposed to serve as reminders to use a certain strategy and not just as a working tool.

No matter how useful an insight is, every trader (especially newbies) should develop their skills and improve on themselves regularly by learning new ideas that can be used to form good strategies. It is very important for traders to gather lots of information so they can tell when an insight is useful or not.
Trading is not all about knowledge but most importantly, having the skills and potentials to trade. Although gathering insights is still a must in trading but we all know not all knowledgeable traders end up being successful and profitable in trading. They should prioritized developing and enhancing their skills and strategies, and carry out these strategies with patience and positive outlook on trading. So that even if they will face consistent losses on their first trades, they will not decide resorting into quitting as real winners in trading never quits in the process.
211  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Common misconceptions about cryptocurrency (Bitcoin) on: February 29, 2024, 09:23:05 PM
Bitcoin = Open source P2P money
Crypto = digital currency

Crypto is not Bitcoin. You seem to include Bitcoin in Crypto, maybe because it's listed with many of the other shitcoin on various exchanges but that doesn't change the fact that Bitcoin is not Crypto. Bitcoin is (as said by the community) Open Source P2P money. You do not need exchange accounts to transfer Bitcoin from One account to another. The privacy you get is not provided by all the Cryptocurrencies.

My opinion is that Bitcoin is cryptocurrency. It is a cryptocurrency. It uses cryptography and it is a currency. This is probably the reason why Satoshi didn't find anything wrong with calling Bitcoin cryptocurrency. As a matter of fact, Satoshi encourages the use of the term cryptocurrency to refer to Bitcoin.

However, while Bitcoin is cryptocurrency, cryptocurrency is definitely not Bitcoin. It's like a bird and a crow. A crow is a bird but a bird isn't necessarily a crow.

Bitcoin is itself both an open-source P2P money and a digital currency.
Bitcoin is a virtual currency secured by cryptography and follows a peer to peer transaction that makes it highly different from a fiat, hence bitcoin is a cryptocurrency. So when others prefer to say cryptocurrency rather than bitcoin, or vice versa, I think that is reasonable enough most especially that bitcoin is the king of cryptocurrency. Altcoins are considered cryptocurrencies, as well as bitcoin and shitcoins in the market that never have a long term value in the market.
212  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia on April 20 on: February 29, 2024, 01:22:08 PM
They had a second face-off yesterday in New York and as expected Ryan is very aggressive, Haney is just cool, he knows he's the favorite he knows Ryan has a lot of envy in what he has achieved, Ryan on this face-off tries to involve the elder Haney but it seems this time the father and son tandem is just cool.

In this video, Bernard Hopkins, one of Ryan's promoters is giving the elder Haney a shard look while the two are having their thrash talk, Ryan is full of anger I have never seen him this angry, he was not like this on Gervonta, it's good that he did not push Devin Haney, there's a lot to watch out for in this fight, a lot of dramas and a lot thrash talking.

https://www.facebook.com/mmafighting/videos/1131595887996176

Who is that guy behind Ryan Garcia? Is that LeBron James? LOL...

Nah, probably one of his body guards. Lol.  Grin
Yeah I know I was just kidding. he does look like Lebron a first look. LOL.

Ryan knows how to sell this fight; that's all I can say. We all know that Haney is the better fighter here, so him trying to be aggressive during face-off does not guarantee that he'll be aggressive too during the fight. Well, I think he should be because Haney will just roll with his defense and score. If he does not put pressure on Haney, the fight will end up being boring, and he doesn't have a chance to win as it could be another UD by Haney.

Sure, but the thing with Ryan is that he says differently, I mean he tell us that he is looking to cement his legacy or at least make one. But we all know that this is just a whole act in front of the camera. His persona might be very different in public. And fans love him for that, the trash talking and the Haney's too, Bill Haney though is funny with his attack on Ryan's Dad that I don't think they will consider it personal although Haney says that he like Ryan before, but now it's going to be personal for him as well.
I can only point out his ability to sell the fight, as his fight with Tank Davis resulted in success. So, I wouldn't be surprised if they'll generate a huge amount of revenue, especially in PPV. Ryan is living his character; fans like or hate him, it doesn't matter to him as long as people will watch his fight, and in the end, he'll again get a good paycheck. Some fighters, after losing in a championship fight, struggle to come back, but it seems so easy for Ryan; that's because promoters want him.

214  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Start preparing for the next bear run. on: February 27, 2024, 11:50:59 PM
Newbies will find it hard to understand that investing in bitcoin comes best when the market is bearish as everything they have seen and heard point out that the bullish market is the perfect time to enter the market. So they will follow what majority are doing, only to find out that when they start losing, that’s the time they will come to realized that they should have enter the market while it’s still bearish where all coins prices are sell in bargain.
It relates to time, waiting time.

If they don't have too long time for waiting, start their investment when the market confirms its bull run, is a good time for investment kick-off. Because with limited waiting time like 1 year, they can not join a bear market and wait for like 2 or 3 years to take profit. With this style, I really hope they don't use all money to invest and speculate that they will gain profit after one year. Fund for emergency must be reserved in any plan of investment, 1 year or up to 3 years.

If they have good waiting time, they can join in a bear market and hold 2 or 3 up to 4 years, to get better profit.
This is a realization that newbies should not only focus on a bullish market but also learn to value the essence of a bearish market. In fact, bigger profits will be achieved if they started investing in a bearish market, rather than thinking of short term and jump when there is bull run. As much as they have to prepare for the bull season, then they should also have seen the importance of saving funds in preparation for a bearish market. Actually both season can be profitable, you build your investment when the market is in bearish and reap its fruits when bull run takes over.
215  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it ethical to break your gambling rules on: February 26, 2024, 09:07:06 PM
My recent experience from gambling, prompted me to ask this question,  and just as the title stated clearly,  you can easily deduce what I am trying to ask in this thread

My experience
In the last two weeks, I have been on a steady roll in gambling and most of the stakes I placed are mostly in sports bets, dice, and spin, all these games are luck-based games unless for football that requires a little bit of analysis.

Except for those sports bets, they don't belong to luck-based activities. That's just how I treat it, though.
That being said, this week I noticed that I have continued in the same trend despite that I have a personal gambling rule, not to gamble for two weeks consecutively,  but unknowingly for me I am already in the third week without adhering to my own rule.

So this led me to ask the general public if I am gambling too much, although this excess didn't affect my finances in any way since I still managed to come out with little winning at the end of the day and at some level, my losses are still below 30 percent of my set out money.

If you have rules, you need to follow them; otherwise, that's not the only rule that you'll be breaking. You will likely break more rules in the future. The big reason why we lose more, and some even get addicted, is because we break our own rules. Rules are there for a reason. Before we created them, we evaluated ourselves and devised the right strategy that is good for us. So, we are already out of our strategy in gambling if we break one, and it could lead us to uncontrollable gambling behavior. You said your losses are still below 30%; well, over time, that will increase as you continue. I believe when you notice you break something, you need to stop right away and try to reflect on your mistake. Besides, we make mistakes from time to time, so it's important to consider it as a learning experience until we get fully disciplined.
216  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling games that gives you an exciting experience on: February 26, 2024, 08:40:25 PM
Football and basketball. These two sports are favorite gambling games. Especially for football betting, every weekend I place bets, but not large bets. Just for fun. If I'm lucky on every match I bet on, the money can be used to treat friends to drinks while watching together.
I think this is the real way to treat your winning in gambling by spending it. If we are here to have fun, we should not focus too much on gambling so we can easily accept whether we lose or win. They say it's entertainment, and mostly with this word, the definition is to pay for it. Gambling may be quite unique as we can entertain ourselves for a chance to win. Not a large bet is just enough to be within your range, at least at that level, you'll not feel the stress in gambling, and you are far from getting addicted.

As for me, I'm into sports as well; basketball and boxing are the major sports I love to bet on regularly.
217  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Canelo vs Jermall Charlo 4th May 2024 in Las Vegas on: February 26, 2024, 02:27:04 PM
It's not yet listed on https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/348759; probably it's not confirmed yet.

But I'm just a little confused here. Why would Canelo choose to fight Jermall Charlo again when they already fought last year, and we saw how he dominated in that fight? In my opinion, it's not exciting to watch anymore. A rematch would only be interesting if the decision in the first fight was a bit controversial, and this one isn't.

As usual, Canelo will have an easy win and will just wait for his next opponent. Hopefully he is cooking something big, like a rematch with Bivol, in case the latter beats Beterbiev, just in case.  Cheesy
218  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul VS Ryan Bourland Cruiserweight 8 Rounds March 2 on: February 26, 2024, 01:15:36 PM
Slowly, Jake Paul is stepping into the ring against a real boxer. This one seems to be unpredictable as to who will win, although Jake Paul has the edge in terms of popularity, but in terms of experience, that factor favors Ryan Bourland.

With 8 rounds of the fight, it's kind of short, but Jake Paul has to ensure he has the stamina to endure against a legitimate boxer.

As for the betting odds, it looks like Jake Paul has been listed as the heavy favorite to win the match. This means that bookies believe it will be another easy win for Jake Paul.

I would go for Bourland here, and the odds are in favour of Paul. So if you highly believe about Bourland's skill and experience, this is a very good time to place bet on him getting 7.6x of your bet in stake.

I hope Bourland will really end Paul's ambition in boxing. And not just all talks, as he said, he's been honing his boxing skills for years so hoping here that he will use it intelligently inside the ring and beat Paul fair and square. So there will be no false claims who is the real winner or not after the match. And don't find any reason why he lost.

Honestly, I'm not sure if Bourland is a good boxer, but since Jake Paul is not really a natural boxer, I'm thinking maybe Bourland's experience will be a big factor for him to succeed in this fight. However, when I see the betting odds, I'm a little doubtful about the chance of Bourland because bookies wouldn't list him as an underdog if they know he has a good chance of winning. Most likely, there is information we don't know that they do, and we should find that out. Maybe I will still proceed with betting on Bourland to win, but I will likely minimize the bet though.
219  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why People Have Different Perception Of Gambling Operators on: February 26, 2024, 12:27:44 PM
Cock fighting is maybe also seen as less ethical because animals are hurt or killed just for the fun of humans or their desire to quickly earn money while at lottery games no one is hurt except losers who have bet funds they couldn't afford to lose. In addition cock fighting is less mixed in terms of gender from what I saw while lottery is equally played by men and women, and is often associated with alcohol and tobacco consumption.
The biggest difference between the two is that cockfighting is expensive, while the lottery is cheap. Of course, one wouldn't be happy losing a lot of money in gambling, while with the lottery, it's okay to lose a small amount. Besides, the lottery is government-sponsored, and the proceeds will be used for government projects. With that, even if you lose money with the lottery, you'll still feel good as you were able to help people, while losing in cockfighting, you'll only help the operators get richer.

No, they are both expensive since people can buy more than one ticket or even use all their money just to buy tickets, while people can also bet a small amount of money on cockfighting.  One can even bet lower than $1 since the amount won is dependent on the amount of money the person wagers and the odds of the match they bet on.  So I think it is not a matter of how expensive but how much a person is willing to spend, and in this scenario, people love spending money on cockfighting than the lottery.

I'm referring to the average bet. If people love spending money on cockfighting more than the lottery, then why is the government making billions from the lottery? Lottery has a wide market as it is present anywhere; now, we can even bet online, while it was already illegal to bet on cockfighting online in the Philippines. Probably the ratio is 1 :1000, 1 cockfighting arena is equivalent to 1000 lottery outlets.
