821  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 - Betting and Discussions on: August 11, 2023, 03:57:36 PM
Bad news for Greece: Giannis won't be in the FIBA World Cup. Here's the full story.

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/giannis-antetokounmpo-to-miss-2023-fiba-world-cup-to-recover-from-knee-surgery/

Quote
Giannis Antetokounmpo will not play for Greece in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, the Milwaukee Bucks superstar announced on his social media accounts on Friday. Antetokounmpo had minor surgery on his knee earlier in the offseason.

Antetokounmpo's full statement:

Everyone knows my passion and love for my National Team has and never will change. Since the conclusion of my NBA season I have been pushing my body to the limits to be the player I need to be to help our team achieve the goals we set.

But after months of work and multiple meetings with medical staff it is clear that i am not ready to compete in the level that I need to be to participate in the World Cup. This was not a choice but my only option in ensuring I get back to the level of basketball I have worked so hard to achieve so far in my career. I am extremely disappointed in this outcome but this was a decision made with the medical staff. I'm going to continue to push myself to be ready for the next time my name is called. My personal, and our ultimate team goal is to qualify for the 2024 Olympics games and it will be an honor to represent my National Team next year.

This is not a favorable situation for Greece; their best player won't be able to play. Consequently, I believe they have a diminished chance of winning the tournament. Currently ranked number 9 in the world, they are considered a strong team. However, without Giannis, they won't be as competitive as before.

822  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - November on: August 11, 2023, 03:18:22 PM

It is really just that right that Tapales camp would really be demanding that 50/50 sharing of revenue on which it would really be just that right that they would really be having those numbers. Its true that Tapales is a champion too on which it is really just that right that they wont really be demanding or having that split up which it isnt really that right at all. They are making themselves too greedy with the revenue.
Could you please provide a source for this information regarding Tapales' 50/50 demand? I am aware that there was an issue concerning the revenue sharing, but there hasn't been confirmation regarding the exact percentage Tapales would seek in their undisputed fight.

If this thing pushes out then Tapales camp wont really be considering on pushing or agreeing with this fight to happen. Both fighter would really be having the chance on being that unified champion since both hold up 2
belts on which if they would be able to beat up either of them then they would be gaining or getting another two on which it is really that a huge step up or achievement on their career. This is why it is really
that interesting to see if this one is already that finalized basing up on the revenue issues or slicing.  Grin
Tapales can stand firm with his demand if that is indeed the case. A 50/50 split seems fair since both fighters are champions. Given that Inoue is the one who truly needs the fight to make history, I believe he should be open to adjusting and agreeing with Tapales' demand.

Moreover, if he succeeds, he will likely be in line for even more substantial earnings when he moves up in weight.
823  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Healthy mindset to save earnings from gambling on: August 10, 2023, 03:26:14 PM

That's because we need to manage our gambling time and know when to stop gambling, and never exceed the limits we have set. This needs to be done so we can gamble relaxed, not in a hurry and not trying to chase victory. It will be better for gamblers. They can avoid problems that can arise later because they have good self-control. And saving a budget for gambling is also necessary, but save a budget you can afford. If you win a lot of money, immediately withdraw the winnings and don't continue gambling.

By having good self-control, we will not be tempted by anything and can enjoy the time of gambling so that we will not be wasteful in using the money. It might be hard for the first time, but if we keep doing it and are used to it, we will feel helped by what we do.

To simplify, you have the choice of gambling either for enjoyment or as a way to earn money. These two approaches involve distinct attitudes towards gambling. When you gamble for fun, you don't necessarily have a long-term objective; you focus on the present and relish fortunate moments. Conversely, when gambling serves as a source of income, consistency is crucial to achieve long-term profitability.

In both cases, discipline remains a key requirement, which already explains a lot.
824  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 10, 2023, 01:57:25 PM
Perhaps some of the players, but when it comes to Howard, I believe they should not have let him go.

During the 2021-2022 season, Howard's salary with the Lakers exceeded $2 million. After his contract with the Lakers ended, he joined the Taoyuan Leopards, a team in Taiwan, for a salary of $1 million per season. However, recent reports indicate that his salary has been reduced by 65%. The question arises: why would he opt to play overseas when he can earn a substantial income in the NBA?

sources ;

https://hoopshype.com/player/dwight-howard/salary/
https://www.sportskeeda.com/basketball/news-dwight-howard-claims-contract-taoyuan-leopards-reduced-65

As I see it, there is only one reason why a player might leave the NBA to play in other leagues is the lack of demand for such a player by NBA teams. In Howard's case, he had multiple tryouts with different teams last off-season, and it looks like no one wanted him, even for the minimum salary. Personally, I think otherwise, and it seems to me that Howard can still play a couple more seasons in the NBA for the veteran minimum.

I believe that Howard is certainly a significant factor in the Lakers winning the championship during the pandemic.

In the playoffs against the Nuggets, whom they defeated in the WCF, Jokic's performance wasn't as remarkable as his stats during the NBA Finals against the Heat, where he averaged 30.2 PPG throughout the series. If we refer to this link, https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/nikola-jokic-stats-vs-lakers-2020-playoffs, his average was only 21.8 PPG.

825  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - November on: August 09, 2023, 04:04:34 PM
I believe too that it will be the case if ever the undisputed discussion between Tapales and Inoue will be prolonged or will be dragged for quite a couple of months before they can make a deal. Now if that happens, sanctioning bodies might be inclined to give both of them a mandatory title defense fight so that they won't be holding those belts for no reasons and of course so that these bodies will have their cut and make their pocket fat, you know, business as usual.

I doubt that the camp of Inoue will allow that scenario (mandatory fights) since their guy is very vocal that he wants to be a unified champion of this division and the hurdle is not that big, I mean they can pay Team Tapales whatever figure it is just to make this fight happen. This is just a matter of negotiations and i'm optimistic that this unification will push through.

This is big achievement for Inoue if he defeat Tapales so provably we can see this to happen and delays might not be the main concern since for sure both camps would agree on the conditions because both of them want to make this fight happen. There match is now gaining hype so most provably their promoters will make this one happen since this is big business and might this could generate them more bigger revenues.

Let's await the development of this potential undisputed fight, as it has been reported that Tapales' camp is not satisfied with the offer from Inoue's camp regarding the revenue sharing. Tapales' camp argues that both fighters are champions, so they likely expect a more equal split, possibly around 50/50 or even no less than 45/55, despite Inoue being the more popular boxer.

If Inoue intends to continue making history, he must ensure the fight takes place. Given that the issue revolves around revenue sharing, it's probable that Inoue's camp will need to reopen negotiations if Tapales' camp remains firm in their demands.
826  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: ~If you must trade~ on: August 07, 2023, 07:26:13 PM
Trading with emotions will never bring any positive effects in the end. Instead, it could be the reason for an instant loss because of wrong decisions that are made once you consider your personal emotions while trading. However, I know emotions are hard to separate when we trade but what else could we do? Emotions will never be good for trading so we should at least try to avoid trading with high emotions inside. Otherwise, we will only waste our time and effort and yet, trading still end up unsuccessful.
827  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin doesn't give you instant 100 percent profits on: August 07, 2023, 02:50:26 PM
Nothing gives you instant 100% profit unless you are very, very lucky. You can’t plan & expect 100% profit in a short term timeframe. Bitcoin is the best investment out there, the hardest money every existed.

Forget about 100% profits short term & learn to HODL, you will make a lot more than 100% if you HODL for a number of years.
In any type of investment, 100% profits from short term investment is a big lie. It could be possible instead if you lose 100% of your capital with just a blink of an eye. But still, even if these words will be repeated a lot of times, crypto beginners will always chose to be deceived by this too good to be true promise. Most especially with all the crypto influencers all over the internet that is feeding wrong information to the people, then it’s not surprising that there are still people who often expect 100% profits in just a very short period of time.
828  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Oscar Valdez vs Emmanuel Navarette - Aug 12 on: August 07, 2023, 01:08:46 PM
As per the voting,

Seems that the members are looking for a upset win here? Although the votes are just a small sample size, it was 7 votes on who will win this fight. And surprisingly, the odds maker is putting Valdez as the favorite, but here in our community, Navarette getting the most votes, by KO and by Decision.

Maybe because of his last performance and he showed great skills and strategy no wonder he won that fight. Now his facing one of the great boxer in their weight division and being the underdog will surely gives him motivation to train more and secure a win on this one. I'm also rooting for him to win this and I think it will be by K.O.

Did you know that Navarette went down against his last opponent, he almost got knockout by Liam. So I'm not sure why everyone is rooting for Navarette, maybe we just wanted to see a war and members think that Navarette has the stamina to go and last for full 12 rounds, have his volume punching and then maybe win by decision. But I think Oscar Valdez is too smart to fall for that if Navarette chooses to go all out war. Oscar will used his technical skills to offset or stop Navarette in this track if he becomes aggressive early. But we will see who will outlast this war as we all know that Mexicans fight is a non stop action pack boxing.

Not everyone, it's only the majority of the posters who voted on the poll, choose Navarrete to win, and that's their personal opinion. Well, based on paper, Valdez is the better boxer here, but if you believe in an upset, then betting on Navarrete is not a bad decision. Regardless of the outcome of this fight, I'm sure that we are going to see an entertaining fight since Valdez would not allow it to be a boring one. He would always go for an impressive win, so he will try to win by KO.

If you believe in Valdez to win, might as well bet on him winning by KO. As per the present odds, it's very attractive at +440.

829  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul Vs Nate Diaz boxing Aug 5th on Dazn PPV on: August 07, 2023, 11:37:33 AM
But Jake says that his stamina is getting better as he has more fight. Obviously, his body is getting used to it. However, if he faces like a former boxer and not ex MMA, it could be a different story just like what happen to the Tommy Fury fight.

And on the other hand, Nate Diaz says that he loves another crack of this exhibitions match.

Admit it or not, he did good against Paul and then the smell of money could entice Nate to comeback and fight again in Paul's platform, who knows.

He did well in surviving, but it was a one-sided beatdown. What would the fans expect in a rematch? Of course, they will think that Jake Paul will win again easily, and that is not fun to watch anymore. So I guess maybe it's time for Jake Paul now to fight a former boxer that could potentially give him a problem, maybe an old boxer but a popular one back in the days, as that is another good recipe for easy money while Jake Paul's health will be secured.

I think there's still plenty of time; we might see him fight again this year, and we all know that once Jake announces a fight, he will always make sure that it will attract the attention of the fans. How about Jake Paul vs Mayweather? Is it possible?
830  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic problem, why is fiat difficult to hold. on: August 07, 2023, 10:00:36 AM
Why is money at hand difficult to hold? I usually find it difficult to keep track of money anytime I have cash at hand, I make plans to hold money, but It never stays because something always demands the money, it is even so bad now that money kept in my account is also now being affected due to expenses. This is not something that happens to only me, I know that because of how money can easily be spent, many people now decide to avoid having cash, avoid taking ATM cards from their banks and also avoid activating USSD or internet banking, but is that really a long term solution? I blame myself a lot for spending so much and being irresponsible with money, but in your opinion, do you think that the soceity is contributing to the high and many expenses making money not to stay or is it just a bad habit I have?

Most likely both society and yourself.
Exactly. Both contribute to how we spend easily our fiat on hand. But mostly, I also believe that the issue is more on ourselves. If we keep living luxury lifestyle, and easily conform to the trends these days, then expect that we will never hold our fiat for long. That’s why even a lot of us are receiving good compensation, still we end up being insolvent and continue to complain financial instability. Also, by not being serious on our financial management and spend our money like there’s no tomorrow, then we will never experience financial security because of our poor money management.
831  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A advise to my friend about his decision on: August 06, 2023, 09:44:41 PM
Many people lack basic knowledge of bitcoins.
I became interested in this topic when I learned that a friend of mine was so ignorant of bitcoin that he recently received bitcoins from his father, but he had no idea what to do with them. As a result, he tried to reject the inheritance and was spared from having to argue with the lawyer who was reading the deceased father's will, which was being read aloud. Why wouldn't someone, he insisted, give him some houses and perhaps some cash so he could launch a new business?

But while his father decided to give him bitcoins, my friend was furious and even left the house because he believed his late father had given him some money out of hate for him. When my friend came to my house to tell me the story, I encouraged him to collect the coins and learn more about bitcoins, and he was furious to listen to me until I started the show and started explaining it to him. At that point, he was happy and walked back.

First time to heard this kind of story, I mean I just wondering why the son didn't know that his father was into bitcoin or crypto? are they not close? So it's very uncanny to me that the son was at lost regarding the inheritance, unless they are strange or not that close.

But I guess he can't do anything about the bitcoins that he got, not sure how big it is, and we don't know what advise you give your friend. Whether to hold on if for a long term or at least wait for the next bull run or sell it right away.
Probably his father was a silent bitcoiner, that even his own family is not aware that he’s been owning bitcoin for a long time. However, just advise your friend to gain research on bitcoin so he will know it’s real value and he’ll be aware on how to make it grow if ever he’s thinking to keep it. Otherwise, if he’ll sell it immediately, he might gain instant money but he will also lost the opportunity to be a future millionaire because of bitcoin.
832  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did Bitcoin Bring a Smile to Your Face? How Did You Make It Happen? on: August 06, 2023, 06:45:47 PM
I'm new to Bitcoin and the Bitcoin forum, but my curiosity is overflowing. I've come across numerous articles and blogs that share exciting testimonies of how Bitcoin has transformed lives, inspiring some individuals to even quit their jobs. It's heartwarming to imagine the joy on their faces. I'd love for all of us to share our happiest moments when Bitcoin brought a smile to our faces and the steps, we took to experience that happiness.
If there are positive and exciting testimonies about bitcoin, surely there are also a lot of negative declarations that will ruin the reputation of bitcoin. So it’s up to you how you’ll weigh things based on your own bitcoin experience. But personally on my part, bitcoin has made me discouraged at first but later on, when I decide to keep going on it, I’ve come to realized that there are better endings with bitcoin, and that makes bitcoin worth of our risk and efforts. Just took away your greed and being impatient, then you will experience the joy that bitcoin brings.
833  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is AI in crypto a game-changer or just another hype? on: August 06, 2023, 06:04:55 PM
Game changer? I used to hear that a lot as a description but no way, these AI projects are not game changers. We're in a market that keeps on changing a lot every time a season dries off. And if something new comes out again, they'll say that it's another game changer and the cycle goes on until you'll get used to that term which will be used by more projects in the future. I am not even sure if there's going to be an end for these cycles because they just keep on coming and reinvents something new.
This cycle will continue and the Era where AI technology dominates will truly occur. Just look at how the implementation of Ai technology is in all fields of knowledge, especially in crypto, of course it will be a more modern future. The Ai project is not a game changer, but it is like a tool that will make crypto more powerful and can make it easier for users to carry out any activity. Everyone now seems to be familiar with Ai.
You’re on point mate. AI has inevitably improve more user’s confidence when trading because this AI has made trading easier by following these trading bots though I still think that they’re not proven reliable at some point. But instead of trading the traditional and the hard way, beginners have found it more comfortable to trade using AI but also with some caution in trading, and by letting them aware of the risks involved in it.
834  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Anthony Joshua vs Dillian Whyte II on: August 06, 2023, 06:47:53 AM
Chisora for me is not a good replacement the guy is done it's going to be easy work for Joshua, why not proceed with the Wilder fight and make it a winner-take-all fight, whoever losses should retire, both fighters want a way up and both are highly motivated to remain on top, this is a money-making fight after all they are the hottest item 4 years ago.
I agree with your comment; cancel the fight and proceed to Wilder. Fans don't want to get robbed for the money they are paying, so promoters should provide a fight that is worth watching. I read before that Wilder vs AJ is the undercard for Fury vs Usyk. Maybe they just have to wait for the moment to happen. Right now, they have to finalize the contract and just start training. I'm sure the fight is going to happen within this year, right?
835  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Terrence Crawford vs Errol Spence - July 29 on: August 06, 2023, 06:13:00 AM
Anyway, back to the discussion, Spence is already looking forward to contest the fight at 154 and so that is already safe to assume because he also said earlier this week that 147 lbs. division is not working for him anymore.

Good for him, but unfortunately, he might be able to face Crawford again, as the latter is also thinking of moving. So even if Spence will not activate that rematch, both are still going to face each other eventually if they beat the champions in that heavier division. Might as well, Spence would think smart. I mean, activating a rematch will guarantee money, and he just has to be confident he'll be able to even the rivalry between Crawford.
836  Economy / Economics / Re: Would you rather start/grow a business from scratch or buy an existing business? on: August 05, 2023, 09:30:51 PM
I don't really have much to say as regards to this post. It is just an avenue to hear your thoughts on which is better to invest both time, energy and resources in, mostly for a season as this, where we are experiencing economic uncertainty and ill-timed government banking policies.

So, given that the resources are available or not and you are presented with the opportunity to start/grow or buy an existing business just like Elon Musk, which option is more preferential and benefitial to you?

It depends. If the existing business has already established its name to the people and is gaining huge demand from its consumers, then I would say buying it is certainly worthy. But still you have to be ready to handle a business, which means you need to be highly knowledgeable on the business so that you can also contribute to its continued growth. However, if you have doubts on the existing business if it will continue to prosper or not, then it’s better to start from the scratch. Have your own business that is align with your passion and skills, so that you’ll be able to manage it properly with the help of your supporting staff.
837  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2024 will determined bitcoin fate on: August 05, 2023, 08:54:36 PM
Many expectations of bitcoin this year failed, but I notice that bitcoin always breakout into a new price after interval of five years, the last massive explosion of price was between 2017-2018 and since then, bitcoin has not record major price increase. Now if you calculate from 2018 to 2023 that's about 5 years though because of policy of economic inflation and influence the price has not gain its actual strength to break resistance limits and if the remaining quarter of the year fails even more, then we should expect 2024 to 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 fire. We should start to make plans for 2024 more buys more gains.
None of us can still hold guarantees if bitcoin’s fate will completely happen by 2024. Yes, bitcoin halving is coming but it’s effect is not felt immediately. Trading back history, the crypto prices will only gain its bullish effect several months after halving so if it will appear by the last quarter next year, then perhaps we will feel its effect by 2025. So just prepare for now, and always invest what you can only afford to lose, so that you won’t pressure yourself selling for profits when the market isn’t completely bullish yet.
838  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - November on: August 05, 2023, 08:12:26 AM
They need to negotiate and not just to accept that low baller, even Inoue will bring the most of the sale but the point that
Tapales is also a Champion/title holder should be consider in terms of the offers.
That's true. People will come over and watch for Inoue for this challenger despite we want to cheer Tapales on this one but we need to know how low balled they were.

With this news, it will open up an opportunity for Casimero to fight Inoue. I'm sure the former would be willing to negotiate, even if he gets a smaller share, as long as he can prove to the world that he could really beat Inoue. In the first place, Marlon Tapales wasn't in the conversation years back; it was always Casimero who shadowed Inoue. So, it doesn't matter as the fans will still watch the fight if Inoue allows Casimero to challenge him.

Or here's another scenario: If Inoue really wants a champion, then maybe Casimero will challenge Tapales. If he beats the champion, then I'm sure Inoue will be more interested in the undisputed fight.

I would love to see if these scenarios will come into the picture,

If Tapales will decline that said offer and Inoue will be open to another challenger, maybe the chance to see Casimero will
take place, and knowing how these two fighters have that unfinished rivalry way back from their lower divisions, maybe now
they will be able to conclude who's much better between them. Only if this option will be activated with Inoue's camp.

They said that Inoue will stay for a while and will fight the challengers, so that would only mean that Casimero will be entertained. The timing is good; it's an opportunity for Inoue and Casimero to prove who the better fighter is. And of course, as the champion, Inoue would want to clear the doubts of the fans that he is ducking Casimero, so he'll probably give him that opportunity one day. Let's be optimistic.
839  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Terrence Crawford vs Errol Spence - July 29 on: August 05, 2023, 07:50:47 AM
I'm sure Spence's career is not over yet; he can still fight, so let's wait for his next move. If I were to be asked, I would like him to move up and forget his losses to Crawford. A new weight class means new challenges for him, and I think he will be more comfortable in a heavier division.

It's not yet too late for him to get a fresh start and not yet his time to start considering for a retirement, it's just a single loss and almost every boxer goes through that trouble. And just like how others describe this scenario, it's not about the loss, it's about how would they figure out the things to keep moving after such loss.

And as for Crawford, it's okay for him to fight Spence in a rematch that will be contested at 154 because either way, he will move up towards that division. It will be a win-win scenario because he doesn't have any belts to lose in that division.
That would probably shut Spence up if he still makes excuses and thinks he is more comfortable at 154. However, if Spence still loses, that would make him look bad to the fans, as it's hard to come back after multiple losses. He is probably like AJ, who lost twice against Usyk, and he isn't as popular as he was before.

Anyways, if Spence would want to ensure a good amount of money to be made, a rematch is always the answer since both of them are very popular now. It's an opportunity to easily market the fight. Both moving up would be good, as even if Spence loses, he can still fight other boxers in the same division until he figures out how to start winning.

However, I'm afraid that he will just be next to Crawford, as for sure, Crawford will dominate.

And witht this news, Jermell Charlo to be stripped of WBO title after fight with Canelo Alvarez, Tim Tszyu will be elevated, the competition would be easy for Crawford and Spence.
