261  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: February 16, 2024, 10:50:43 AM
Only one game with close odds and that is Utah Jazz vs Golden State Warriors. Both the teams playing back to back games and both teams lost their game. Warriors are slightly fav in this game with 1.8x odds but are the away team. Still 1.8x looks tempting enough to go for it. Just need Curry to show up at crucial moments and we are good.

Yes, ML will be enough for this game, I will also go with this one (I'm back betting on the NBA again).

I'm looking at the Bucks vs Memphis game, initial handicap is -9.5 for the Bucks, maybe this is a trap, so I'm taking Memphis +11.5 @1.91, seems appealing to me.

Wolves vs Portland, Minnessota beat them the last time and cover the spread, but it was close game till the 4th quarter when Timberwolves pour everything and win by a huge margin, -7.5 @1.68.

Great bet on this one mate, 3/3 perfect.

The big upset here is the Bucks, they try to make a comeback and avoid this upset. But they fell short.
They don't have the momentum and they are quite inconsistent recently, so it wasn't surprising at all. The last shot attempt could have force the game into overtime but there was a miscommunication on the screen and Lillard loss the ball and just throw the last shot without a clean look. That's a lesson to learn for them, if they can't beat an undermanned team, how much more the stronger teams.

In the Warriors game, I thought that they are going to choke, they allow the Jazz to make a comeback and they almost force a OT in this game. The Jazz has a lot of chance to tie the score but they can't make that important 3 point shot.
Jazz had a great 4th quarter run but the last sequence when they got the offensive rebound, Collins probably panic and threw the ball out. If they were able to get that ball, there's a decent chance a game will went to overtime. I thought it's a de javu on their last game.
262  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you seen gambling advertisements on TV? Opinion. on: February 16, 2024, 07:54:53 AM
While watching TV with my kid, I've watched various advertisements of gambling nature (let's say for example, Rummy123, RummyCircle, A23 Rummy, etc.)
These are all specifically Indian ads, but I'm sure you may have seen various gambling advertisements, some banners at boundaries when cricket is ongoing, even in any other sport. How would a kid ignore those things, they might just come and ask you about what is it. Till when can we lie to them? Don't you think that the frequency of such ads must be less in order to let the kids not get trapped into gambling and don't do it at such a small age?
I think advertisers choses on what program they'll run their advertisements, it's mostly on adults program like sports. Based on what I observed, what I watch games like NBA, I always see advertisements during break time, and they are using a popular celebrity,  like Kevin Hart advertising Draftking.

Maybe there are some kids that might be watching sports, but they'll just ignore it if they don't understand it. That's why on some programs, there are some warnings like parental guidance advisory.
263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What about the lost BTC? on: February 15, 2024, 09:44:21 PM
Once lost, it’s as good as lost forever, unless if you recover your password or seed phrases, you will retrieve your stored bitcoins. However, asking for a compensation from the market will never be possible. You are the only one responsible of your investment, if you are not wary and is not cautious, you will definitely lost track of your bitcoin hodlings. So as much as possible, if you are not yet capable to safely store some bitcoin, then never do the risk, otherwise our funds and time will only only go into waste.
264  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia on April 20 on: February 15, 2024, 03:09:34 PM

Better check his highlights if you are referring to Haney. Ryan here is not an undefeated anymore as he fall to the hands of Tank Davis, now, trying a much bigger and probably quicker boxer which.

@robelneo, I saw your thread was locked, so this should be the official one for discussion.

Yes aware of that I should have locked it and apologized to OP for not taking action, anyway its still two months but the excitement just started could be the fight of the year and the thrash talks of the year too, I just noticed it 2 against 1 on the trash talk war Ryan should bring along his father too so it will become a father against father and son against son  Cheesy.
And Ryan's bodyguards are better than Haney's too, the Haneys should fire their bodyguards and replace them with much bigger bodyguards, I will not be surprised if a brawl happens during a press con, no one wants to be subdued on the thrash talk

Having a brawl during the press but the fight will still continue, that would be a great scenario to seek more attention, just like on Mayweather's exhibition fight press against Logan Paul IIRC. More drama will create more attention, and could potentially create more money, and if they'll do that, I wouldn't be surprise if this fight will have a bigger PPV revenue compared to Ryan vs Tank Davis.

I think if they'll agree on that and try to stage a brawl it could happen. Afterall, they both wants to sell a high PPV so they can earn a lot of money in this fight. This might e a chance for Haney to earn a good paycheck in a championship fight, and although Ryan is known as the inferior boxer, but since he talks a lot and people loves him talking, that will earn a lot of followers and probably haters too to watch the fight.
265  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Risking 1% in Gambling on: February 14, 2024, 02:19:19 PM
For me, I think that 5%-20% is still very good for gambling, but like I said, it still depends on the money we are talking about. If the money is large enough, I may even use lower than 0.5% in that case.
It's not about the fixed percentage we can risk in gambling, but on the amount we can afford to lose. If we are making $500 per month and we can afford to gamble half of it, there's nothing wrong with that, we can't question a person who risk that high percentage since we are not the one living his life. Gambling is for everyone who can afford it, so we should only stick to ourselves and forget about other people and just let them enjoy or learn if they make mistakes.

Me personally, I don't have a fixed amount to gamble on a regular basis since my income is not fixed as well, sometimes I earn small income, hence my gambling budget would be small, and it's opposite when I make much.
266  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Lomachenko vs. Kambosos - May 12 IBF Lightweight Title on: February 14, 2024, 01:24:09 PM

It's never been easy for Kambosos as he is an underrated fighter. Even with his fight against Lopez where he won, the was the underdog that time, and he proved that despite being an underdog, he can still be aggressive like a champion.
And he beat Lopez that fight because he got into the heat of Lopez. The latter, loves to go toe to toe and that's what Kambosos wants. unfortunately for Lopez is that he could not land a clean shots on Kambosos, instead, he was the one making mistakes absorbing the counter punches of Kambosos. After that, Lopez move up and now dominated the current division when he is a champion.

Therefore although everything is on Loma's advantage, we can't underestimate a fighter that is hungry to bounce back. Well, literally, both boxers are coming from a loss against Haney, therefore we can expect that it's gonna be a war between the two.
I'm sure Loma will not underestimate Kambosos especially that the fight is held in Australia. Kambosos could get the support of the fans that will inspire him to win the fight. Loma sure understands it since he's been in many championship fights and he succeeded most of them.
267  Economy / Economics / Re: Coping with Risk. on: February 12, 2024, 09:07:40 PM
Both have their own risks, and it will be more risky if you decide to engage in an investment without prior knowledge and skills that are necessary to make an investment works. Whether its offline or online, you will definitely lose and waste your funds if you don't prepare yourself to manage and overcome those risks. With that, make sure to only invest on what you have understand, and never invest on certain investments wherein you don't have any knowledge or idea on how to make it work and profitable.
268  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Understanding the basics in Bitcoin before investing on: February 12, 2024, 08:31:58 PM
Newbies should never invest in bitcoin without being aware of its risks and its potentials to make someone win or lose his funds, hence studying about bitcoin and the crypto space is a must. Newbies also believe that bitcoin is a get rich quick, that is a very wrong concept. I guess no investment is a get rich quick, everything should be totally worked out from the start so that its success will be certain.

In addition, bitcoin is highly volatile in nature. If you are not patient, you will easily get bothered when there is market crash or price correction, which will lead into wrong decision making and eventually sell at a loss price. Hence, being patient and understanding on the volatility of bitcoin and its market should always be given high importance.
269  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: February 12, 2024, 03:51:39 PM
I was able to get into the live between between OKC and Sacramento King, @2.0 here.

OKC is too strong in the first 2 quarters and even in the 3rd quarter where I bet, they've leave by more than 20 points. i was just lucky to be +18.5 as I'm seeing that Sacramento doesn't want to lose in a blow out game against their rival in the West.

And so they try to climb back, cut the deficit to 10 points in the 4th. But OKC can't be denied with SGA big 38 points.

I don't like that kind of pick because I don't have a good experience with it. What I learn is, when it's too attractive, it usually disappoint me, good thing it work for you and you find it as an opportunity. I thought that Sacramento would be able to give OKC a real competition, but turns out they were just dominated and experience a blowout loss. It's really unpredictable, a team that is suppose to play better basketball after beating the defending champion at home is not playing competitive basketball on the road.

Based on stats, Sacramento has only 53% road record, while the top 3 are Cleveland, Boston and Wolves.

270  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Selling a property to play gamble on: February 12, 2024, 01:54:28 PM
In principle, I can understand a problem player who pawns things in order to recoup. For him, all things (appliances and furniture) are just a way to get extra money for which you can gamble. Such a player is eager to prove to everyone that he is about to win and give away all the debts. At the same time, he think that will buy back all the things that he pawned. But this will not happen in most cases.
And this is a really important indicator - when a person sells things, you can't let them do it.
I think it's normal to think to win back our losses and finally on a profit. However, if the decision to sell a properly is not well thought, that's considered a bad strategy in gambling as it does not normally work. The problem is when the emotion is high, we want to win it all back instantly which will not happen most of the time since gambling is based on luck and skills of a player, with not thinking the right way, then we cannot expect a profit.

If professional gamblers wins in the long run, they experience the ups and downs in gambling until they succeed, they we aren't exempted. The problem is we don't want to go through the process as we don't trust it.
271  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If I bet big I lose, but if I bet small I win on: February 12, 2024, 01:26:40 PM
This phenomenon is more about chance and psychology. I wonder if the casino's gears turn when we bet. Casinos capitalize from our disadvantages. Gambling's randomness, not the system, singles us out. Losses hurt more when I wager big because each game is independent. One bet doesn't affect the next. My wins on lesser wagers may be more recalled since losing is less painful.

As an expert, I recommend playing within your means. Unpredictability makes gambling fun. Casinos don't need to manipulate because the odds are already in their favor. Enjoy the game as a mix of chance and strategy with enjoyment as the goal.

This has nothing to do with the advantage of the casino but more on the mindset of the gambler which sometimes it has already become superstitous. It's not based on facts and real chances anymore, we tend to believe about luck and at the same time we are losing being realistic in gambling. At the end of the day, it's only our strategy that matters because if it's working, it should not be surprising that we will end up profitable, or might be consistent if we are really good, but if we talk about casinos with real house edge, then no skills would work on that matter.
272  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What traders must know on: February 11, 2024, 08:57:52 PM
Yes all these do play important role I must say. But the main thing that a trader needs to keep it in their mind is the patience. If you don’t have patience, then no matter how you trade. You won’t be able to make good profits. You can try many strategies, but in order to make profit from the market, you have to keep patience I must say. Patience plays very vital role and it determines the outcomes very often. If one masters the art of patience then definitely he will make great profits.
I certainly agree that being patient when trading will most likely help you gain a positive outcome rather than being eager to gain quick profits every time you decide to trade. The crypto market is never certain, so you have to adjust at most times, but if you are patient enough to wait for the right time to trade, your trading outcome will definitely be certain, that is making your trades profitable and successful every time you trade.
273  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Jerwin Ancajas vs Takuma Inoue - February 24 on: February 11, 2024, 11:24:14 AM
I don't think that the Japanese board will try to influence the outcome with the help of the judge. It will be ashamed for Japan to commit that kind of act specially in boxing. Ancajas is a live dog here, he has power so most likely if he wins, it will be by knockout, IMHO.

Takuma Inoue doesn't have a good chin, there was one Filipino that put knock him down in fight, but Inoue come back and win.

But not against Nordine, he crack that chin and that's it, he beat him in his own country. And that should Ancajas aim so that there will be no chance for the judges to screw him up in scoring if he thinks or us boxing fans that judges could be bias in favor of Takuma Inoue.

i am also on this sentiment, Japanese people are one of the honest people on this planet so i won't doubt the judging on this match. besides, the judges are not all japanese, right? and for ancajas not to think about the judging bias, why not knock out inoue as early as he can?
I am sure he can because he had done that before, but with other champion I guess. Well, since the fight is held in Japan, you can't really blame people if they are speculating on something like that, but we will see what would be the outcome of the  fight, maybe it's not necessary to debate if it will end in KO, whoever wins.

i can also understand the results of the poll here as i noticed there are a lot of filipinos in the forum as compared to japanese. actually, i don't know anyone who is japanese. so yeah, sure, the poll will be favouring ancajas here... Grin Grin

so a lot here are rooting for ancajas, then bet on him right now as he is the underdog on this match -

I sure will bet on him. I am also waiting for more markets so I could find some attractive odds, you know what I'm saying.
They have a local community here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=252.0... but most of them if not all are just focus on their community. If they will discuss about boxing, most probably on their own language.
274  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 11, 2024, 10:39:53 AM
Curry, time and time again. How does he do it? His range seems limitless. Almost a bad pass from the rookie turns into a turnaround and shoots perfectly into the basket, by Curry. Taking Warriors up by 1 with 0.7 secs remaining.
That was insane, Curry did it again, a game winning shot and it seems like the Warriors are back into a championship form. They aren't outrebounded already but of course they still rely with their 3 point shooting and Curry could not miss in a game winning shot tonight.

Wiggins fouled the Suns player during their inbound. It is a tricky situation now.
That's fine, I think that was the instruction too because they have foul to give. The last play was just easy to predict and Durant could not catch it clean with 0.6 sec remaining in the game. Lakers won by a point, if Curry miss that Suns could win and cover the spread.
Indeed it was crazy. Damn, Steph Curry at 35 years old is still doing it. The pass was really bad, when interviewed he said it was just his muscle that reacted quickly when Podiemzki threw the ball. That was quick thinking from the veteran and that shot he made looks really good. Another addition to his long highlight reels.
Is it the muscle memory? Is it the right term? Curry is the best shooter and he's been practicing those kind of shots, so it's not surprising at all, and although we know he is capable but it's just amazing to see it against a team that is a champion caliber. And... I like Draymond look on Durant, I think he also said something, he really hate his old teammate.  Smiley

I actually disagree with the referee at that last foul. It cannot be just 0.1 seconds that will be cut in the time, obviously, they did it so that the Suns would have a chance for another shot.
But, it's either Wiggins fouled before the ball was passed or it should be after which takes out at the very least 0.3 seconds. I was surprised that just took 0.1 seconds which I think is a mistake. That fast? Cheesy
Anyway, Klay Thompson not showing up again, 5 points only. Just when they needed them badly against a strong Phoenix team. I am just glad that the Warriors have their defensive players again. Gary Payton II is really a big impact for their team when it comes to the defensive end. Very wise man and his hands are always active. 1 block, 1 steal, and 5/5 in field goals? That was good.

I think Klay has already lost interest playing with the Warriors. He is on and off, and they can't allow a player hat is inconsistent. With respect to Klay, he had big contribution during the Warriors championship runs but he pass his prime, either he stay with small salary or go and look somewhere else, that should be the scenario once he is in the free agency.

276  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you have a hard time bringing new people to the forum? on: February 10, 2024, 09:59:27 PM
It is said that it is difficult depending on who you invite. I once invited someone who didn't have any knowledge about crypto and he thought this was just a forum that didn't produce anything, especially with a merit system, there was nothing that could be done. after that I never invited anyone to this forum, those who come and ask certainly know how this forum provides income. But in the end it will only be a temporary visit and disappear.
Yes I have also experienced that. Teaching a person about the forum isn’t hard, but when you start telling them that in order to gain profits, you have to rank up and earn merits, that’s when they start losing the interest and eventually leave the forum. For them, that’s kinda pressuring them when it’s not actually. So I decided from then on not to introduced the forum again to my friends as they don’t last anyway.

If they are really eager to learn, they will find ways and make extensive research to fulfill their eagerness. And it’s not that they will rely to someone else to get free education.
277  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Day trading or Long term on: February 10, 2024, 09:24:11 PM
Be it day trading or long term hodling, the risks involved will always be there but it differs on how you manage and overcome those risks, even if we say that day trading is more risky than long term hodling itself. However, if you are highly capable to day trade because of your varied experience, then there’s no problem with that and you will less likely to lose but more on making on profits. But never underestimate hodling as well because the promising profits are also big and huge, but your patience will certainly be put at risk.
278  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who among you here is gambling at work? on: February 10, 2024, 03:04:19 PM
^

If an employee spends work time on personal activities or entertainment, the employer will obviously not like it. And it makes no difference whether you are gambling, scrolling through your favorite social network or something else. In your free time you can do whatever you want, but at work you just have to spend all your time on work.

Whether to follow it or not everyone decides for himself, but we all know how nice it is to do our own things.

It makes no difference because both are violating the rules of the company. however, in terms of effect, gambling could have a big effect especially if an employee is getting addicted with gambling as it could result to stealing some company funds especially if he has some access on cash like being the signatory of the company working as a manager or something. I'm sure you heard stories about an employee slowly but consistently stealing money from the company to fund his gambling addiction, but with playing solitaire or any game as long as you are not gambling, that is not gonna happen.
279  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who among you here is gambling at work? on: February 10, 2024, 01:10:49 PM

I've never seen anyone who gambled at work yet but when the Zynga Poker on Facebook was a big trend, many employees do play that game and I am actually one who did that too. It's not gambling because there's really no money involved unless you buy the chips just so you can play the game more the whole day. That I never did.  Cheesy
Don't do this both, it's just a waste of time, we have our breaks, and we can check our social media or gamble for a bit on our smartphone if we want to but when we sit down in front of our job, we should be focused.

Is solitaire counted here because I play a lot of this game while working since I always have some waiting time when waiting my clients feedback on submitted proposals.  Cheesy

You are lucky in your company that facebook is allowed to access back in the days when Zynga poker is popular. Smart phone is not that popular that time which means there’s no other means to play at work than using the PC. Seriously, Who have the courage to play at work here especially gambling while you will risk tainting your career once you are caught. Worst is you will be banned on companies that has connection to your current employer.

Do you gamble on solitaire? I think you are referring to playing a game but not gambling. That thing could not be allowed as well as it makes employees unproductive but gambling is quite different, it has an after effect that an employee might be disturb when he loss and will not be effective the rest of the game, more so if the act has been repetitive already, it's already causing a lot of resources of the company which does not produce output.
280  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 10, 2024, 12:23:55 PM
Where do you think Dinwiddie will end up? He was traded to the Raptors in exchange for Schroeder, but ended up getting waived by the Raptors after he was traded there. He was seen in the Dallas Mavericks game, where the Mavericks faced the New York Knicks. He was also at the Laker game versus the New Orleans Pelicans. He was sitting beside the Lakers' GM, Rob Pelinka. Dinwiddie went to the locker rooms of both teams (the Lakers and Mavs), according to the reports. Sources say that Dinwiddie is leaning toward signing with the Mavs, as he played there from 2021 until 2023. But with the recent comments of D'Lo in his post-game interview, he said that "y'all will get to know him soon." Is that a sign that Dinwiddie will sign with the Lakers?

Regardless of what team he signs, he is a great boost on offense, especially if he is on the bench. But for me, I would like him to sign with the Lakers. With the absence of Gabe Vincent, Dinwiddie is a good replacement for him. It is much better to have nothing. Also, it is just a small risk for the Lakers, as they did not give up any of their assets just to get him. He also played with D'Lo way back when Russell was still in the nets, so I think chemistry won't be an issue here.

I really like Dinwiddie. He was a nice scoring punch off the bench when he played with the Mavs. Actually I didn't like when they traded him and Dorian Finney-Smith to Brooklyn and getting Kyrie in return. Back then Kyrie was inconsistent and on and off the field. Nowadays Irving is back his old self and a solid player of course.
First it will be amount money, who can give him more. But also it's a bout playing time so that you can present yourself in a good way for future contracts. I think with the Lakers he will see more minutes on the field, mostly of course because of the many missing players.
Mavs of course make sense because he knows most of the players already, the trade is not really a long time ago.

Where ever he goes he will be a strong asset, whether if it's in the first or second unit.

I think he'll have a better chance if he will go to the LA Lakers. They need someone like him who are consistent in scoring, and with his playoffs experience, he can certainly help the Lakers in the playoffs. His stats with the Dallas were good, averaging 17 points  a game, and I think that's significant enough if he could deliver that with the LA Lakers.

Lakers had some great defense, it's very evident but they don't have real threat outside, I think Dinwiddie is an outside threat, so they should go with him while keeping D'Lo since his game had improve recently.

Lastly, I like this guy because he is a crypto guy!
