1681  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Drugs with Bitcoin ? on: December 03, 2016, 03:16:09 AM
Yes that is a good point but we are all responsible for our own actions at the end of the day.

The harm effect on other people from ones drug use are normally associated with the drug user having to find the money to purchase illegal drugs, if the addict could just go to the local chemist and pick up what he needs then he would not be harming anyone but himself and even that is debatable .
Sure, it would break the chain.
The drugs would be more affordable and easy to get in any pharmacy, less people would resort to theft and borrowing from gangsters to fuel their addiction. They'd be getting pure product instead of some unknown and sometimes deadly chemicals. Gangsters would lose their main income and governments would get more money from taxes.

Yeah but you are missing the point.
The governments don't want to stop drugs. They don't want to stop people from doing drugs.
The "war on drugs" is big business. Police get to buy cars, guns, bullet-proof vests.
Judges and lawyers get paid to take the cases to court.
Private companies get paid to build the jails, house the prisoners and give kickbacks to the state.
The "war" will never end. Just like the "war on terror".

It depends on your government. There are some that don't care about drug abusers and just let them do whatever they want. It's almost as if saying, "It's their body and they're the one responsible if anything bad happens to them." There's also some that banned drugs and then pretend that they're doing something about it but they only raid the ones that have big business in selling/buying drugs. There are also some that are really active that raids even small time drug sellers.

Nonetheless, I really think the control in drugs depends on the society and not on the government. If people would report the drug users they know, then the police would surely do action. Some people even when they know drug users, they don't report it because they're friends with them or they're family. Let's not put all the blame to the government while you're just sitting there in front of your computer doing nothing about the said problem.
1682  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think are the biggest disadvantages of Bitcoin? on: December 03, 2016, 03:05:45 AM
I would say that the biggest is that to use the money we usually have to exchange it into fiat, because you can't use bitcoin in everyday life at all. The next disadvantage is that there aren't many ways and places to exchange Bitcoin. The third is its half-illegal status in most of the countries.

I'm not sure why are other people say that bitcoin is illegal/banned in their country. There's not that much bitcoin users. There's just like 1 million of us worldwide. That means in every country, there's just a few thousand people using it. In a country, there's usually millions of people. I don't know why would their government prioritize banning bitcoins over all the other issues their country has.

Consider bitcoin as a foreign currency that you have to convert to your local currency first. If you live in the Philippines, you would have to convert your dollars first into their local currency before you can buy something. Basically the same thing as what you do when you're using bitcoins.
1683  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Paypal a scam? on: December 03, 2016, 02:55:03 AM
Well i think they are not scam they are just increasing the security of the account.. i have my problem before in paypal that actually have some earnings from ptc before because of do not have atm visa or master card to verified my account they lock my account until i can verify my paypal account but i have my alternative account which is verified via virtual card.. now my problem is the funds that i receive from my non verified i want to send it to my alternative account.. they got lock my account because of using 2 paypal.. but the alternative account which is verified still active and i can be still use right now for buying domains and hosting..
they are just do that because of security reason..  unlike bitcoin that honestly there is no hassle to use.  we have charge back in paypal which is good for buying product online..

The Paypal chargeback is only good when you're the buyer. If you're the seller, you have to take the risk that maybe your customer will dispute his payments. Too bad for you, you loss your earnings just because your account isn't verified. I also have an unverified paypal account but it's never been locked. I use it to receive payments before and since then I've been using it to buy stuffs online.

Was your account locked for 180 days? If so, then you can transfer your funds from your unverified account to your verified account so your money wouldn't be locked up again.

can we remove theses abbreviations?
Actually we can't. Not at the moment at least. The A, PNYC, CFNP, and FLUX words are all in the same column as the "Full" column.

Thanks for the answer fatanut
The latest table isn't hard to understand once you get used with it a part from the min-max which is confusing i think that separating the 2 is better  Smiley
I'm leaving the two tables posted so you guys can compare them. There you go:

1685  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: December 02, 2016, 03:31:01 PM
That's how Shorena's table looks like. The mix-max is messed up because of the "x". I can fix it tomorrow if you guys want me to properly align it.

There's not that much difference actually:

I can simply remove the | in between min and max to save space but have it aligned.

1686  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: December 02, 2016, 02:47:11 AM
hey fatanut, i find the new table better than the previous one
Thanks! Smiley

can we remove theses abbreviations?
Actually we can't. Not at the moment at least. The A, PNYC, CFNP, and FLUX words are all in the same column as the "Full" column. I can go and put one word per column which would occupy the Hero, Senior, Full, and Member column to implement your idea but it would expand the columns because of the words "Participants" in CFNP, "Accepting" in FLUX (in between closed and accepting).

If someone could find a way to merge cells or something similar to the "colspan" syntax, then we can implement your idea.
1687  Other / Off-topic / Re: How many times have you've been scammed? on: December 01, 2016, 04:42:22 PM
When I was a newbie, I have invested in some HYIP sites, and doubler sites because I wanted to make some quick money. I also got scammed buying small amounts of bitcoins, exchanging bitcoins into prepaid load, and P2P buying/selling altcoins. I'd say I have been scammed at least 15 times ever since. Nowadays, I don't do transactions unless I personally know the person I'm transacting with or my friends said that the said person wasn't a scammed and they have had transactions with him before.
1688  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does any bank accept Bitcoin? on: December 01, 2016, 04:29:40 PM
I think the idea of bank accepting bitcoin is absurd. They would just look like they're endorsing bitcoins which is their primary opponent right now. The two have opposite ideas so they shouldn't be combined. It would be something like McDonalds accepting Max's gift certificate or coupons as payment.

There's no bank that accepts bitcoin right now but you would have to use a bank account before you can withdraw your bitcoin into fiat. When they start accepting bitcoins, people will be intrigued and look up online what bitcoin is. They might end up using it, and embracing the whole concept which is something our government doesn't want to happen.
1689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please teach me how to grow my bitcoin on: December 01, 2016, 04:18:07 PM
though i will suggest this, its just a suggestion...why dont you buy bitcoin and look for a very good mining site and mine with it...or rather trade with...or you can also simply set up yours mining, but will require constant sources of electricity.....mine and re-invest too!!!

Because mining sites are either a scam or would take you a year before you can get your ROI. Of course there are mining sites out there that have been on for years already but they can all crash or run away at any given time. I think it would be better if you just hold your coins or use it for other matters. Yes, you can earn some profit if the site operates long enough but I don't think that profit is worth the stress given by the idea of the website running away any time.
1690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Difference between Bitcoin and real money? on: December 01, 2016, 04:03:05 PM
real money, has been accepted by all the people of a country, and it is a medium of exchange that is set by the government. whereas, bitcoin is a cryptocurrency available on the internet, and has a high price, which is usually used as a means of transaction, investment, trading, and others, whose existence has not been accepted by all communities.

It's not important if the community you're in doesn't accept the existence of bitcoin. Only the user himself have to receive/send bitcoins anyways, not the whole community. As long as you're earning money without putting anyone in harm, then it's okay to continue what you're doing in the bitcoin world. Even though people are unaware of the existence of bitcoin, I've never heard someone got tortured by the community just because he used bitcoins. It's okay to be different. Smiley
1691  Economy / Economics / Re: The dream of getting rich with bitcoins on: December 01, 2016, 03:46:05 PM
To get rich with Bitcoin in these days, the two alternatives with better odds are probably trading or running your own business in the cryptocurrency space. In both situations, it's necessary to have the skills to invest. If you prefer to buy and hold, it's probably still possible to get rich by holding Bitcoin, but at the moment it requires the investment of a large amount of money.

Which means you're already rich even before you start holding bitcoins. It's not changing in the future, the price might decrease but you would still need huge amount of money to get rich just by holding it. In the future, you would need even much higher amount of money to do so. The only way that you can get rich by holding bitcoins without investing that much money is to go back to the past and buy bitcoins, but that's not possible to do right now.

Even though you can earn profit by holding bitcoins, your profit would still depend on how much bitcoins you hold. I believe that hard work + smart work is still the way to go to become rich in bitcoins.
1692  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if POKEMON GO let people earn Bitcoin? on: December 01, 2016, 03:35:59 PM
What if pokemon go let people earn bitcoin? Then it is a really good idea, if this is the other way to earn bitcoin, then no doubt i will play pokemon go everyday. Even im not a game lover, then thats the time maybe that i will play some games. If a person caught a pokemon then it is worth of 1BTC haha then i probably sell it and collect more pokemons to have more bitcoins.  Grin

Hmm. You can't say that you're going to play Pokemon Go everyday for sure. That's the very same thing people said even before Pokemon Go was launched. After a week or so of playing, they all got bored of it. You don't know how much bitcoins can you earn from Pokemon Go (assuming that they implement the bitcoin idea). You might be dissatisfied by how low it is and not even bother to install Pokemon Go.

People have already caught the rare Pokemons so I don't think there would be a Pokemon worth 1BTC since the supply is huge. Pokemon Go developers would have to wipe the saved accounts on their game and start over, make it harder to find rare Pokemons, ban all bot users, and implement something new to the game (i.e. P2P battle).
1693  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do people around you think about Bitcoin ? on: December 01, 2016, 03:04:46 PM
It was long back when i started to get knowledge about bitcoin and when i told this to my friends and relatives they were just joking and took no serious, but now when i am earning handsome of income through Bitcoin and seeing the price , they are also getting interest in bitcoin.

Atleast now you are ahead of them. Most of us have this kind of experience about telling bitcoin to someone close to us. Even I was ridiculed by my brother before. They even told me that there is no future in collecting this thing, since they first know that I am getting my satoshis from faucets, and I have no knowledge yet on where to get more bitcoin to atleast make a good extra income out of it. You just have to walk away when they start to talk against what you are believing.

Your brother wasn't wrong about the faucet thing though. He probably have realized how little you're earning from faucet sites that even if the price of bitcoin goes 10x, your earnings are still very little. Anyway, we all have our stories of how we started in bitcoins.

If somebody make fun of what you're doing in the bitcoin world, just let them laugh. Be good at it. Study the things necessary about bitcoin. In due time, you're going to start earning bitcoins and you can look at how much they didn't change financially and intellectually. It's your time to laugh then. But even so, you should stay humble and just continue improving yourself so you'll earn even more money.
1694  Economy / Economics / Re: Will governments create their own cryptocurrency that will replace fiat? on: December 01, 2016, 02:41:00 PM
I don't think so!

Governments will stick with what they have now. They will never surrender to the futuristic concept of cryptocurrencies. The general reaction of people to change is fear it. The government will be afraid to adopt change and just try to be safe and comfortable with what they have. I'd like to see the opposite, though. I'd like to see digital currency in the near future. A future without paper money.

That might be the situation right now. It's only normal for humans to stay in their comfort zone, but once the majority of people around them has embraced change, they will too.

Now that everything's becoming more and more modern, it's only a matter of time until people start talking about bitcoin. It's only a matter of time for bitcoin to become one of the trending topics and the most used Hashtag in social media sites.

TL;DR: People don't want to change at first but once change is already there, they wouldn't have any choice but to adapt change. Even the governments would have to adapt change if the era of crypto-currency is already taking over.
1695  Economy / Economics / Re: How good are you at managing your money on: December 01, 2016, 02:32:03 PM
well im not actually good at managing my money cause when i get a hold on a decent amount of money and get bored i usually end up gambling it on some sites like bitsler, bustabit, and satoshimines and sometimes when there is a new bitcoin doubler site's I sometimes put a lot of money in it and end up getting scammed haha lol Smiley

I think money management isn't your problem. Your problem is that you can't control your urge. When you feel like you want to gamble, you just say 'Yes' to yourself. It would seem as if you can't control yourself right now but you actually can. There's a huge discussion about this in the gambling discussion board so no need for me to go deep about this topic.

In addition, stop investing in doubler sites. Your hard earned money just go to waste by doing that. Don't believe to whatever method they said that let them multiply your coins by 2 in 100 hours or so.
1696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think are the biggest disadvantages of Bitcoin? on: December 01, 2016, 02:18:36 PM
The greatest disadvantage from what I have experienced is the fact that Bitcoin transaction is irreversible even after a mistake is being made regarding a transaction or even when it is a scam transaction another is the fact that there is even no way to report a user or an address so individuals can be warned about that person or address. If this has settled, I am good with everything about Bitcoin...

There's no point in reporting a bitcoin wallet address. He can make hundreds/thousands of them in just a couple of seconds. Good thing if the scam did happen in this forum, you can open a scam accusation against the user and his account will have a negative trust from DT members. But nonetheless, you're not getting your money back.

Irreversible bitcoin payment is actually a really good thing if you're the seller. You know the money can't be disputed and once you received it, it's yours.
1697  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: December 01, 2016, 01:48:54 PM
Finally figured it out! Grin This is my biggest contribution to this thread so far aside from updating the table (almost) every day. I hope it fixes the problem of most users.

https://paste.ee/r/4MSnW
Edit: Still wasn't satisfied with the length of the table. I renamed Let's Talk About the Future and then removed the ".io" and ".net" of some items so the table can be as narrow as it could be.

1698  Other / Off-topic / Re: How kids can "earn" Bitcoin ? on: November 30, 2016, 01:18:21 PM
No need for them to use faucets and face how hard it is to earn bitcoins. It would give them the impression that doing bitcoins is boring and isn't worth doing. There are other things that you can do to earn bitcoins which is far easier and makes you earn more bitcoins at the same time. It would be much better if they start by searching what is mining, gambling, trading, and other things about bitcoin that you can do. By doing that, they're learning something unlike in faucets wherein they're just going to solve captchas.
Wow! so your teaching your kids to do the things I highlighted in your post, I guess it's not yet appropriate for them to learn those things. They are not matured enough to start learning it, kids love to have fun so they must deal with faucets only IMO.

I didn't say anything like that. I said it would be much better if they would learn things like that instead of wasting their time, energy, and effort doing faucets. Faucets aren't fun, btw. After doing faucets for 2 hours straight, do you find yourself smiling? No. You're already getting annoyed by the repetitive task.

I dont understand how the question even arises that kids should earn bitcoin. For God's sake they are "kids" and thats why they should learn to earn and not try to earn right away.
Not every kid has someone beside them to support them. Some kids have to earn money even in a very young age in order to survive. In order to eat even once a day. Maybe you can't find them in the bitcoin world because they don't afford to rent a computer but they really do exist IRL. I know this for a fact because I grew up with kids like this.
1699  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if POKEMON GO let people earn Bitcoin? on: November 30, 2016, 12:36:24 PM
The Pokemon Go hype is over and it's still not available in your country? I bet the game will never be available in your country. People have expected a lot from Pokemon Go and there aren't even new updates about the game. You still can't fight each other, and there's still no in-game-currency. I guess the project will just die by its own. People have collected as much Pokemons before, traveled different places to get Pokemons. Maybe they realized that all those efforts are just for nothing.

Well the only chance left for pokemon go to return on the trend is to link it with bitcoins. If the management will do nothing then the game will soon be  left behind by other games and be forgotten. But theres a big chance for pokemon go to get high again if they connect it with bitcoin. Bitcoin users will love the game since they will earn bitcoins while playing the game.
It depends. In the first place, what would be the use of bitcoins in Pokemon Go? To buy and sell Pokemons? I don't think so. People have already caught most Pokemons using a bot.

The next question is, how much bitcoins would there be? If the amount is the same as faucet sites, then the owners and devs of Pokemon Go are just embarrassing themselves. Other people would think that they only linked bitcoins to the game in hopes of reviving their game and nothing else. It's a desperate move in the eyes of most. It would be hyped up again at the first days of the update, but people will leave it again quickly since they can't earn anything at all.
1700  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin transactions - Slow OR Fast on: November 30, 2016, 12:02:38 PM
Well atleast bitcoin doesn't get raped by pump and dump scam. Wink

LOL, you paying over $700 for BTC right now,
on Jan 16th, 2015 you were paying ~$218,
On Nov 13, 2013 you were paying ~$1275 per coin. (Those guys are still in the hole.)

Looks like a Pump & Dump to me, Next Dump is due in late Jan 2017.  Wink
Set your clock.

Well I guess I am lucky because I started being really into bitcoins around March. The price has almost doubled since. Smiley Let's see what would happen in January 2017. I would most probably remember this post anyway. Tongue If you would consider price fluctuations as pump and dump of course it would seem like a non-stop pump and dump to you. I think it's only normal to see major price fluctuations. No one guaranteed that bitcoin will increase continuously with just very little dumps along the way.
