Did you sudo?

I didnt at first but tried again with sudo and still no joy.
22  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New GekkoScience product, the Smart Hub on: December 27, 2023, 01:34:18 PM
Wonderful. Thanks for that. I found a default values file but it was “unwritable” but that walkthrough is perfect!

I was going to take the sd card out and copy all the files over to my PC before I started changing anything.

EDIT:-

Tried going the OPTION 1 route but I can't edit the file  Undecided or any other file for that matter

I would get them but could barely justify the smarthub considering the base hub and raspi4 have been solid since I bought them (no surprise really, its gekko gear).

Hey, how you getting on with the SmartHub?!

Got it setup preliminarily i.e hooked up to my wifi and pool details put in. I’m trying to figure out how to circumvent the 450m limit on the CompacF. Can’t seem to locate to right config file to alter.

The whole footprint is roughly twice the size as the base Hub, about 14x20cm

Thanks sidehack. Bit bigger than I thought, time for some cobbling together  Grin
26  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New GekkoScience product, the Smart Hub on: December 20, 2023, 05:42:32 PM
Just purchased one from the UK seller. But I just thought, what are the dimensions for the hub and does it have a fan header? I already have the standard gekko hub and the 3D printed stand 419mining sold and I’m hoping to reuse the stand but need the dimensions. If it doesnt fit I’ll have to find someway of cobbling together a fan stand.
27  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Gekkoscience “smarthub”??? on: December 03, 2023, 10:00:09 AM
Oh wow. Then my apologies to the guy then as I thought it was just another scam artist trying to capitalise on your brand. I’m very intrigued to say the least seeing as its genuine.

Is the link I posted the new UK reseller?
28  Bitcoin / Hardware / Gekkoscience “smarthub”??? on: December 02, 2023, 02:09:07 PM
Found this on ebay and thought I would bring peoples attention to it. Being part of the forum and owning genuine gekkoscience products I haven’t heard of anything of the sort from sidehack and the team. Just a headsup that its using the gekkoscience brand to mislead people into thinking its their product.

29  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience has a new stickminer that does 300+GH on: September 16, 2023, 10:29:56 AM
What would be the best type of USB hub to purchase for power output to support these sticks? 5v/12v-3A?

Gekkoscience own hub. It was specifically designed to run these sticks.
30  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience has a new stickminer that does 300+GH on: August 12, 2023, 08:15:34 AM
The blue circle is the Plateau frequency. Its the frequency the stick is happy running at in its current config. The percentage is something to do with its performance. As far as I know its used to help determine if its running efficiently at the frequency its trying to reach. In Kanos cgminer you can set the “tune-down” at 80% so if the stick doesnt perform at 80% it will step down the frequency until it does. As 80% good shares is better than 100% of bad shares (so my understanding of it goes). The “xx:xx” I have never worked out.

The Gekkoscience One Hub is the same in my link?
I think also for security reason i will buy the one hub, other stuff from China can burn and not controlled what i like on the gekkoscience is the fan connector.

What powersupply are you using?

@Nexus9090
Can you show me what USB hub you are using?

Yes the one from bitcoinmerch is the gekkoscience one I’m referring to.

I’m using an HP common slot psu and breakout board left over from a gpu rig I had years ago. But you can run it from a regular ATX psu as it has a 6pin pcie connector. You can run it from a barrel jack connector and high wattage laptop psu, but the 6pin is better and more reassuring.
32  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience has a new stickminer that does 300+GH on: July 16, 2023, 08:12:44 AM
The best hub you can get is the Gekkoscience one. Its made to run all the gekkoscience sticks. Personally I run 6x Compac Fs at 530mhz and get around 2.1Th. I use a 419mining fan frame with a 92mm noctua fan to cool them. Its been solid for months and doesnt miss a beat unless my internet connection craps out.
33  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience has a new stickminer that does 300+GH on: July 14, 2023, 12:52:54 PM
Can i run the GekkoScience Compac F on an raspberry pi zero?
I only want to run 1 of it. What setup other users here have?

As long as it can run kanos cgminer and you run it on a mains powered usb hub OR underclock it significantly (which is pointless) then I dont see why not.
34  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience has a new stickminer that does 300+GH on: May 19, 2023, 05:10:00 PM
I have lost the track here due to no images getting showed on the entire thread. Neither the OP images are visible so far. Is it possible for someone to show what these miner look like? I am more than interested in knowing if the “sticks” are really worth buying or not. I am surfing the forum for clues to know which miner could be way easier for new comer (in mining field).

I am not sure if this is similar to those USB miner sticks but the name suggests the same. However I am not able to tally the power which some of you stating more 300-500 GH for the sticks. Is this new generation USB or something that is so powerful? Or I’m talking about entirely different miner which is out dated already.

These are the latest iteration of sidehacks (Gekkoscience) USB miner. Here's some info on one of the approved resellers websites:-

hi  everyone
curious to what speeds everyone are over clocking the miners too
Groke

Currently running 6x Sticks on a gekko hub running 530m getting 2.1Th combined.
36  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience FS7 Compact low speeds on: May 16, 2023, 05:55:40 AM
Take a look at the dedicated thread for the stick here:-

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5355470.0

A regular usb hub without external power is a waste of time with these sticks. Really you want the Gekko Hub to be able to get these sticks running well
37  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience has a new stickminer that does 300+GH on: May 14, 2023, 08:13:38 AM
Got them clocked to 700MHz but they seem to be working their way down. They will hold then one will reset and work up to a lower MHz. Then the next one. Is it the voltage ? Or do I need to change the start MHz up to around 700MHz? After a while they stopped around 650Mhz and been holding it.

What USB Hub/Port are you running them on? that speed is pulling some serious current. Even on a full Gekko Hub (6 sticks) I'm limited to 530m per stick due to regulator/port limitations.

Shocked Reveal your secrets sidehack. Was the upgraded fan a leafblower ?  Grin
39  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Make an S9 quite? on: April 14, 2023, 04:11:56 PM
I changed the firmware to Brains OS and set a power draw target of around 750w which gets about 10th. Removed the front fan and just used the rear fan. Use an HP Common Slot PSU with breakout board and custom cables. Runs cool and quiet, although I only ever use it now when its cold as a space heater.

Is it possible to disable the magenta LEDs (resp. the LEDs in general) via jumper or DIP switch on the R909? Or via driver/software?

Just get a Sharpie or similar and put a little dab in the leds. It will "dim" them slightly. Personally I love the blinky lights  Grin
