Its fine if it doesnt open a new window. Just aslong as I can get access to it through some means. I am using the GUI (its easier for us novices  Smiley ).

I will give your suggestions a go and see what happens. Cheers.

EDIT:-

Tried both variations and neither seemed to work. I may well have chosen the wrong option after "sudo crontab -e" as it gave me three options. But now wont give me those options again.

EDIT 2:-

After trying various things from god knows how many sources I have finally managed to get it to run at start up using “sudo nano /etc/rc.local”
After the “fi” and before the “exit 0” I put:-

cd /home/pi/mining/cgminer
screen -dmS cgminer ./cgminergekko.sh

Rebooted and the gekkos started hashing, opened a terminal and typed “sudo screen -x” and up popped the cgminer screen.

Thanks for the help zsmith it led me down the right path in the end  Grin

Thanks zsmith. Will this open the terminal and show it running or would i need to use screen -x ?

So I finally have my newpacs running on a Pi4 in anticipation of getting an R606 when they become available locally (EU/UK). After following the instructions here :-

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5053833.msg50968875#msg50968875

Which were superb and worked straight away, I would like to get cgminer to auto run when the Pi starts up. Just incase of power loss or unexpected reboot.

So how would I go about getting the .sh file to auto start? I’m a complete novice with linux though so take it easy.

Quick quesrion would a 2GB pi4 be suitable or overkill for running newpacs and an r606? Im making the switch from windoze as im fed up with it constantly running all the way through the usb bus and eventually getting “no chips found” errors even when they are fine after a restart.

Im glad I read this before purchasing a pi4 without a dedicated power supply for it.

Use some Solder wick/ribbon. Works really well when desoldering large connections.

margotcoins....what OS are you using? Just re-read the last couple of thread pages and couldn't see if you mentioned it.

Fantastic! Been checking every reputable seller I could both here (UK/EU) and the US but none have any stock at all so just enquiring when resellers would be getting them.

Is there an ETA on the next batch of R606 sidehack??

Have you touched the voltage pot at all? What settings was the previous owner using?

Have you got a fan cooling them? Did you buy them second hand?

There's just a few things that I'd like to point out that might make your experience selling around here smoother. For starters,
Good to know.
&
Yes.

Could have been, and should have been a single post. You posted the second less than 10-minutes after the first and have the ability to edit/amend your posts.

Other than that, I noticed you posted a good amount of pictures - the only problem is that none of your pictures include a date/timestamp or username. Are you able to post a picture with that for better verification?

Last thing I can see at a glance is that your S/N is visible, and that's something that I would advise against publicly displaying personally.

What worries me is that they said " The firmware is the original and was not modified.". If they know anything about gpu's then they already know its not possible to do that with Nvidia. So do they actually have the card and used the card or are they just posting random pictures and hoping someone will bite?? Just my take on it. Not accusing anyone of anything but it doesn't sit right with me.

The firmware is the original and was not modified.

Don't think you can modify Nvidia Bios anyway.

On the folder you download it should state what version it is. If you have the May 13th then the folder should say a62385f as seen below on the links.

Windows : cgminer.exe (download and extract the 7z file below)

Cross compiling instructions can be found in the next post.

Can anyone tag a newbie that's locking threads and trying to deal outside of the forum via email/telegram??
538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: A question about mining process on: September 20, 2019, 04:30:05 PM
A block is found roughly every "x" minutes on a network (depending on what coin). The timer on a pool is only a "best guess" but not guaranteed so it is irrelevant as it may take more or less time to find one. Thats the "luck" aspect to do with mining, especially when you are essentially solo mining on a pool.
