Are you thinking of selling the additional boards on? Would you be selling just the boards or complete "plug and play" units Phillip?

Just wanted to say thank you very much Dr Haribo for providing an excellent pool in every aspect. I have had to switch over to another pool this evening as I will be working a very long day tomorrow so wont have to time to alter my raspi/gekkos.

All the best for your future endeavors  Grin

Did you want this all in one go or are you willing to do smaller amounts?

Yep just done that. Forgot I had Discord. Only downloaded it at the start of Covid Lockdown to do video chats with mates but never really got used to it. Just got to wait another 5 mins before posting the question. Cheers for the nudge in the right direction
Read the pinned msgs in the Discord kanopool channel on how to get a Miner role to help keep Discord from kicking you. Also once you are registered, bookmark the page. The invite link is just to get in to start there.

Yea just realised that. Been kicked twice now  Roll Eyes  I can see you guys in there but still waiting on the 10 min timer  Cheesy

EDIT:-

Always kicks me before the timer runs out  If someone could point him in my direction that would be appreciated as I am assuming he doesn't really respond to PM's too often. Cheers.

What I wanted to know is whether my old account would still be stored in the system or would I need to create another one?  Can’t for the life of me remember my password but can provide email addresses. Thanks.

Just reset your password on the web site.  You can also create another account if you like.  It's up to you.

Because I have tried so many times to guess my old login, it says I need to "try again later". That was yesterday and still reads the same today  Huh

try to join the discord and ask Kano directly.

Hi everyone. Looking to switch over to here when bitminter shuts at the end of the month. Im only a hobby miner with some gekkos (1.8Th) so wont be winning any prizes or blocks for my contribution lol.

I did mine here a couple of years ago when I had some bigger gear but im in the UK and electricity prices suck so had to scale down. What I wanted to know is whether my old account would still be stored in the system or would I need to create another one?  Can’t for the life of me remember my password but can provide email addresses. Thanks.

Just getting fed up with inconsistencies with apps not showing balances correctly and me panicking I've lost all my crypto lol
Running your own full client solves that.

Ill have to take a look into that. Cheers.

Thanks guys. Looks like ill use my vanity address as a hot wallet and a ledger for proper storage. Just getting fed up with inconsistencies with apps not showing balances correctly and me panicking I've lost all my crypto lol
431  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Moving BTC address to hardware wallet on: June 21, 2020, 10:54:21 AM
Is there a way to move the address from my blockchain wallet to a ledger nano so I don’t lose the address (vanity address)?

If you are referring to an address which you generated on your own and then imported it to your blockchain wallet then the answer is no. You cannot import individual private keys into hardware wallets. However, if you are referring to the addresses generated by the blockchain wallet then you can recover your wallet using the seed on the Ledger device.

Thanks for the reply, even though I've been mining for years I’ve never delved into hardware wallets so a bit out of my depth. Yes i was referring to an address I generated myself so it looks like I will have to make do with the address the hardware wallet gives me and just use my vanity address as an intermediary.

Again, thanks for the reply  Smiley

Hi everyone,

I don’t frequent this section often but thought it the best area for this particular question. I have a blockchain wallet with a couple of my addresses in. One of which I use for my main “traffic” of transactions. Is there a way to move the address from my blockchain wallet to a ledger nano so I don’t lose the address (vanity address)?

Thanks.

I remember someone hooking up a direct 5v supply to a stick (compac/2pac) and managing to get some really impressive numbers with decent cooling. Its probably somewhere in the forum but a search didn't reveal anything within the first few pages of results.
434  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: June 02, 2020, 01:58:13 PM
Yeah that's my biggest concern and the main reason I haven't tested anything above 500 yet. I'm definitely picking up a gekko hub asap the layout, the fan header, the juice. I need one haha. What kind of GH/s do you achieve at 625mhz?

I get around 140-142ghs per stick at 625m.
435  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: June 02, 2020, 01:19:45 AM
Got everything up and running, Pushing 500mhz strong. Has anyone pushed their newpacs past 650mhz?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fYfkv6byK4  Heres a vid of the setup. Ready to solve all the blocks!

You want to be careful you don’t pop your usb hub when OCing. I’m running mine 6x newpacs at 625m on the gekko hub and wouldn't go any higher as I could well cause some damage (and thats after sidehack tried to make it as bulletproof as possible). No idea how that anker 60w is laid out. Just something to keep in mind  Wink

Just seen the dates. I thought it was this week you will be shutting down. I will stay until the end and fingers crossed we have a last "hoorah" of a block.

Thanks again Dr Haribo!

Change the BIOS battery on the motherboard.

+1 probably needs a new bios battery.

Its such a shame but had a feeling this would happen after the halving. Its such a shame as I have been one of the ones who started here a few years ago with a couple of Antminer USB sticks on your own mining client. It was easy to use and certainly helped me to transition to more involved mining gear.

Thank you for staying with us small/home miners. Its been a pleasure to be involved in such a dedicated pool community.

Hello All, I am new to using Newpac. I am running 5 total using gekkoScience hub and power brick 8Amp. I find when mining whether it is at 100,200 or 300 it always Zombies. It tries to recover and does a few times but when I come home cmd script is closed and no longer running. Can it be that they are not getting enough power? And if I were to tweak voltage pot is there a way to read what the voltage change is anywhere?

You dont need to touch the voltage pot really. What OS are you using?
440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Old S9 Miners on: May 16, 2020, 09:36:49 AM
Back at the second halving there were tons of Antminer S4/S5 that were all sold cheap. I bought a few of them to play around with the firmware. Was able to undervolt it and make it run fairly quiet. Then 6 months later or so I just sold them on Craiglist for $50 or so.

At first I though it was a waste of time because they would never turn a profit and I will get lowballs for $10 however to my surprise they all sold. To avoid headaches I even put a disclaimer saying that these are for hobby use only, they won't turn a profit because they consume more electricity than they make in BTC. People understood and they wanted to buy it anyways.

So for $50 or so, you can probably find a buyer. Just don't expect to get $300 for them.

I am not talking about the selling of machines or mining , Will it be converted into any other source , like the motherboards or any other parts of the S9's can be refurbished ?

The only parts from an Antminer S9 that you can use elsewhere is just the fans. The PSU is also not enclosed so there is no PSU included. With the older miners like the early Avalon or Antminer S2/S4, they had a built in PSU, so you could use those PSUs elsewhere like a computer or another miner.

You can't convert it to anything else, it can only mine SHA256 algo. You cant even do regular password cracking based on SHA256 algo with it. Basically its only value is if you can just sell it to someone else for $50 who will use it as a hobby.

It can't even be used as a space heater because its crazy loud and there is no way you can sleep in the same room as it.

I beg to differ. Phillipma1957 is converting old S9s to space heaters. Ok you have to drop a board or two and change the fans but its possible.
