They would fit but its inly rated for 2.1A per port. So the CompacFs wouldnt be able to run full speed
82  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: GekkoScience Compac F Miners + running node on same Raspberry Pi on: November 24, 2021, 06:26:05 PM
Not sure but this may well be worth asking in the Gekko thread.

If anyone here has an Pi4B with these setup, would you please reply with how many units you have running, at what Mhz, and what your CPU usage is?

I'm trying to determine how many I can run on a Pi4B.

Thanks

I've got 6 running at 520M and CPU usage is around 15-20%. Fluctuates more than the old Newpacs but well within reason.
84  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official FutureBit Apollo BTC Software/Image and Support thread on: November 17, 2021, 09:30:16 PM
Apologies if this is mentioned elsewhere in this thread:

How can I tell if my node supports the taproot upgrade?

HI all, question from a non-technical person happily mining from home with this device to try and learn and support the decentralization of the network.  Forgive my question if it is an obvious one to most of you, but with all the talk of Taproot finally coming today, what does that mean for our nodes running with Futurebit?   Is there anything we are supposed to do?  If there is, if you could share the steps I would really appreciate it.  Thank you, much appreciated, I am really just in over my head with the software/programming side, but genuinely want to learn and here for it!

Your bitcoin core instance needs to be v22.0 for taproot

I think the Apollo has v0.21.1

Taproot support is actually in 21.1, will be upgrading the node to v22 soon though.

That going to be an OTA update like before?

Any news on when the 32bit version is coming out?
86  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Terminus R808 Miner Official Support Thread on: November 09, 2021, 09:20:23 PM
I'm going to assume you've got a suitable PSU as you seem familiar with gekko products. Only thing I can say is that its a bad unit. Was it sold as working?
87  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Terminus R808 Miner Official Support Thread on: November 09, 2021, 07:29:55 PM
Off thentop of my head is there a flag for command line to detect the R808? Not sure just throwing it out there. Also have you tried running the new kano-cgminer (see the Gekko Ferrari thread)?

Fan slows down when miners are connected? Miners aren't able to run full speed?

Probably your hub is underpowered.
Yepp the miners it must be the problem that orico is not good enugh anymore. But power a fan with USB is always slow.
But i found something interesting on Amazon Icstation Boost Converter MT3608 Mico USB DC 2V-24V to 5V-28V 2A , Voltage Regulator,Power Supply Step Up Module 3.3V 5V 6V 9V 12V to 5V 6V 9V 12V 24V this should work. found it on this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6xlSUBCkhA

Just be aware that upping the voltage will up the draw from the 5v port. IIRC if you are 1A at 12V that would mean you are pulling 2-2.5A from the 5v side.
89  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: November 07, 2021, 05:22:58 PM
Yep that seems to be an issue some people are having. It runs from that config file instead of the user made one. Never had that issue myself but it certainly seems to be a common problem.
90  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience has a new stickminer that does 300+GH on: November 07, 2021, 05:19:06 PM
Yea get a different hub (gekko hub is best) Unless you can find something that tells you how the ports are divided for power.

Have you tried creating a .sh file with all the details in which you then make executable and run that.

No I don't know how to do it, can you tell me how?

I try to create a .sh file like this:
Code:
sudo /home/pi/git/vthoang/cgminer/cgminer -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u <my_btc_address> -p x --gekko-newpac-boost --gekko-newpac-freq 400

Always the same, work fine but only 100 MHz

Open a new text document in the cgminer folder. Write your command line but start it “cgminer -o …….etc” save it as a .sh file eg.gekko.sh. Close it and find the .sh file in the folder. It will have a picture of some cogs as the icon. Right click on it and change the permission to “make executable”. Save and close that window. Double click on the same icon and it should ask if you want to execute in terminal. Select that option and if its done correctly it will open terminal and run.

Are you running your own .sh file or just opening cgminer?

That is not a powerful hub. I wouldn't want to run more than two sticks on that max.

I only have one GekkoNewPac so this hub for one is more than enough.

If the target frequency is always at 100m then there is an issue with your .sh file.

What does your .sh file say?

which .sh file do you mean? Thanks

Easy tiger, as you can see I said two sticks max. I merely said it wasnt a powerful hub.

Have you tried creating a .sh file with all the details in which you then make executable and run that.

Hi there ! Getting stuck with one of my NewPac Miner, still 0 Chip(s) message coming from CGMiner. I'm running my whole set with a RaspberryPi 4 , and a 10 ports Sipolar USB hub. I've got this message concerning the micro temp. What's the matter with this key ?

If you have tried swapping it to different known good ports on the hub and the voltage pot is the same position as the working sticks and there is no visible signs of damage then I would say its a dead stick.

Hi NotFuzzyWarm thanks for the reply  Smiley
Yes, the GekkoNewpac is powered by a powerful USB-Hub

there is no problem with that ...

That is not a powerful hub. I wouldn't want to run more than two sticks on that max.

If the target frequency is always at 100m then there is an issue with your .sh file.

So I got my CompacF running today on my RasPi but it was really intermittent.
It ran a short while and was vey hot to the touch, then i got the dreaded smell of frying electronics, now the red LED wont come on and the Pi and other computers fail to recognise it at all.

Am I right to think it just straight burned out and its dead now? Sad

Where you running it with a cooling fan?
96  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience has a new stickminer that does 300+GH on: November 02, 2021, 06:28:41 PM
Just want to say these Ferrari's are AWESOME. 6 of them running 500m getting 1.8Th and using just 93w  Shocked    Great for us Home miners. Thanks sidehack and team.

In cg miner 4.11.1 it's working fine for the newpacs, but in the 4.12 version i don't get it running. Anybody got any idea what i'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

have you tried running the newpacs on the new cgminer?
97  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience has a new stickminer that does 300+GH on: November 01, 2021, 06:20:50 PM
hey guys!

Does anyone know a store that currently has stock of these?

Thanks!

All depends where you are in the world. Bitshopper.de has stock of them at the moment. They are based in Germany.

Newbie question.

I have an r606 currently mining. If I were to purchase a couple of the newpac f sticks can I plug them into the same computer and mine with them as well using cgminer?

The new sticks (well all the sticks) need a powered hub to run best. You shouldn't run them on an un-powered or directly on inbuilt ports on a PC.
99  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience has a new stickminer that does 300+GH on: October 28, 2021, 06:25:27 PM
"Share above target" is probably something with the pool expecting a faster miner (more shares coming in) and it could take a few minutes to retarget.

NiceHash and proper cgminer don't work well together, because NiceHash requires some added protocol stuff that's demonstrably insecure and kano refuses to support it.

I'm still getting the Share above target on Kano where I have been running all morning.

Looks like you have the "--verbose" command in your config/bat file. Take that out and see what you get listed on the cgminer screen.

Er? Why? to feed the F 6A?
You can already do that with his hub -- if you do not mind vastly overloading the USB socket, just leave the other port open, plug in the F and crank her up. A dual to single adapter still faces that max 3A limit for the single socket.

Very good point! Totally forgot you could do that on the gekko hub. Just had a vague memory of someone doing that kind of thing in the past but now I think of it, it was probably to get around the per-port limit on a particular hub.
