1141  Economy / Reputation / Does this count as Identity Fraud/Falsifying Documents? on: November 30, 2019, 07:16:11 PM
So I've been browsing the Service Announcement board and I stumbled upon this thread [Archived] where his services are about using someone else's KYC to verify locked out accounts from users on crypto exchanges or for any websites that locked their accounts due to lack of KYC.

Hello members of Bitcointalk,

I offer a service that assists people who are not able to withdraw cryptocurrency from their exchange accounts.

The service I provide is KYC assistance wherein I work with an information donor in person to recover your funds. In this way, I am able to provide real documents on demand when and how the exchange requires them.

Upfront it looks like a good service for people who have locked their accounts because of the lack of KYC but the question is if this kind of service is even legal in the first place? The first thing that pops in my mind are Identity Fraud which is the misuse of someone else's documents for their own personal gain, the problem here is if the KYC obtained is with consent from the original owners of those KYC information but it might be different with some countries so the next thing I see is the possibility of this being about falsification of documents. Even if the KYC being provided is real the user who will use it is providing fake information of themselves just to unlock their accounts which counts as deception and fraud on their part. So what do you think about this service?

1142  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever done to experiment to determine percentage of winning? on: November 28, 2019, 08:07:41 PM
I only played dice in most of my Bitcoin gambling and I don't think writing it with a pen and paper would help my chances of winning every future bet I have. For one the percentage of winning the bet can already be adjusted to their slider from 99.5% winning to even .01% of winning the bet so you already know your chance of winning your hand. What you might really be asking if there is some kind of pattern that will show up if I have written it on paper which I think won't also be useful again since most dice sites will show your previous result every time you bet, this is already enough for you to see if there is really some kind of pattern you should follow.
1143  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Top 5 ways to recover your stolen or lost crypto on: November 28, 2019, 07:26:45 PM
Act as quickly as possible
Benjamin Sauter, a partner at Kobre & Kim law and an expert in crypto theft cases, told Decrypt, “The quicker you can act, the better,”. The longer you wait to start tracing your crypto, the more time you give thieves to transfer your assets to cold storage, send them to sketchy exchanges, or to tumblers to mix them up. “The more sophisticated you are, and the less sophisticated the thieves are at laundering the assets, the better chance you have,” Sauter continued.

If the funds are in an exchange, you’ll need to contact them and ask them to freeze your assets. This will buy you some time. Unfortunately, not all exchanges will comply so you may need to get a lawyer involved to throw their weight around and convince a court to order an issue for them to be frozen.

I don't think that you have that luxury in time when it comes to stolen funds being recovered since in most cases the only time you know your funds are stolen is when its already gone. So in your given scenario where you are asking the exchange to freeze your funds is really impossible since I don't think you have that time to call a lawyer and for them to go into court just to save your capital in time. In matters like this I really don't have any kind of solution on how to recover your funds since everything will now involve a legal action about this which means involving the authorities so it's really better to protect your account from attacks like this such as having 2fa in your account, not having the same passwords for all of your accounts especially your email, and also not downloading random things from suspicious links to avoid spyware from your computer.
1144  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-11-27] One Reason People Aren’t Paying With Bitcoin: Taxes on: November 28, 2019, 06:41:21 PM
The article's body is only based on the whole assumption of businesses are holding crypto after the payments have been receive which in fact isn't the case most of the time. Some people hold it but for businesses wanting to have accurate income from the prices they have on their products they will always instantly convert it into cash, some payment processors like Bitpay and Coinbase Consumer also have that option where their customers will send BTC and what they will receive is a dollar equivalent for it. I don't know but I don't think that the author knows what he is talking about since I might understand if he is talking about small time people having a small business online but including big businesses that accept crypto and hodling it I don't think there is a big possibility of it in the first place.
1145  Economy / Economics / Re: Fidelity wins bitcoin trading and custody licence in New York on: November 28, 2019, 05:53:57 PM
From what I'm reading this is still not official yet and Fidelity itself haven't confirmed it's existence even if it is I don't see them being exempt from another kind of license because their license is considered to be "broader", it maybe broader but it doesn't make Bitlicenses as a second option for New Yorkers to have if they didn't get the NYDFS license, because if they did they are just admitting that Bitlicenses are worthless because a NYDFS which is broader exists.

The filings are public. Nothing about this is unconfirmed.

BitLicense isn't worthless. It just doesn't provide all the privileges that a trust license does. Both licenses are issued by the NYDFS.

Bakkt also pursued (and was granted) a trust license from NYDFS rather than a BitLicense so this isn't a new idea: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-crypto-currencies-bakkt/new-york-financial-regulator-approves-bakkt-trust-license-idUSKCN1V61J4

I don't think that we are on the same page since you are talking about a trust license here which is only applied to the corporation itself operating as a trust company and a Bitlicense can be applied by both consumer and producer and since individuals cannot get trust licenses for themselves it still makes them have an obligation to apply for a Bitlicense which was my point on my first post on this thread, I really didn't talk about Fidelity applying for Bitlicenses in the first place.
1146  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: November 28, 2019, 04:40:55 PM
Yesterday, Barcelona secured a they qualification as 1st in their group in the Champions League.
All they have to do now is to be prepared for the game against Real Madrid. This is the most crucial game for them now for 2019. If they cannot win then it would be disastrous for them.
Are you really talk about Real Madrid? Becase the next game of Barca is against Atletico Madrid (Dec 02) and their next match up won't happen until December 19 which is 3 games away from now. Either way I don't think a single match could cost them anything even if they are tied via points the season is still far from over and a lot of things could change especially when they alter their line up again in the upcoming January transfer window.
1147  Economy / Economics / Re: Fidelity wins bitcoin trading and custody licence in New York on: November 27, 2019, 07:30:47 PM
~snip~

The NYDFS trust license apparently encompasses the BitLicense, and more:

Quote
In the report, lawyer Arthur Long said that the trust license is broader than the BitLicense, NYDFS’ typical crypto license, enabling its bearer to operate more financial services such as financial advice.

This is big. It's refreshing to see that a legacy giant like Fidelity has major plans for the Bitcoin market. I think a lot of Wall Street dinosaurs have been waiting for a legacy institution like them before jumping in, for custody and regulatory risk reasons.

The stage is being set for the next bubble.
1148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your take? on: November 27, 2019, 06:29:51 PM
This is something normal to see especially when it comes to sudden corrections like this altcoins are mostly affected due to the facts that the market leader, Bitcoin, is going down and it really affects the rest of the altcoins available in the market. This kind of fluctuation is something we have seen in the past already and there is nothing to be alarmed of even if it wen down around the 6,500$ level as it quickly got up after that, it only tells that a lot of people shorted it but they didn't spend too much time to wait and make it go back up.
1149  Economy / Reputation / Re: Account salsa321 changed the owner? on: November 27, 2019, 04:43:48 PM
My mind tells me that this account was indeed controlled by another person now a previous poster from the Indonesian board as well the password change alone shows that there has been a change of hands. However what bothers me is that this new user is posting good designs for their project so I think the original owner of salsa321 might still be working for the new owner.

1151  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: November 26, 2019, 08:37:46 PM
Dybala sounds like he prefers to be a big fish in a small pond, in which case he’s be perfect for Spurs Wink

If we are talking about the Premier League then certainly Tottenham cannot be considered a "small pond" especially when the last Champions League they were the runners-up in the Finals. If we are talking about a small pond then certainly teams who would only rely to 2 to 4 players in a team can be considered like that like Everton, Crystal Palace, and Aston Villa which I think only Everton could only afford a transfer offer from him. I don't even think that Dybala wants to transfer into that kind of team since it will only just diminish his value in the long run which would really hurt his career just like what other players have experienced before.
1152  Economy / Economics / Re: Fidelity wins bitcoin trading and custody licence in New York on: November 26, 2019, 07:38:20 PM
This is potentially huge. Fidelity has a lot of existing customers who use their online investment services - so making it easy for this group to trade bitcoin may mean a lot of new money entering the bitcoin space.

Not so fast the city of New York have what they call "Bitlicenses" and I don't think existing customers from fidelity are exempted from having it so I do think they need to register first before they can be part of their trading activity. Bitlicenses might also be the reason why Fidelity have been granted this license to operate Bitcoin trading in their city since Bitlicenses are some kind of KYC requirement for their residents in the first place, they might even have done this to encourage New Yorkers to get the required Bitlicenses for themselves.
1153  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: is it legal to trade bitcoins in india? on: November 26, 2019, 06:36:14 PM
The only safest way you have right now is to trade Bitcoin though P2P since trading it with their exchange is really a risky deal for a long time now. Even though they say Bitcoin is "legal" in their country they don't allow their users to use it as a payment for any goods and service and even though they still have exchanges operating they ordered their banks to prohibit any kind of transactions related to crypto and that countys exchanges making deposits to your bank account. Your only safe bet right now is having a trusted buyer and seller on your list where you can do trades with them directly.

P.S.

The Indian community here has their own local board in the forum and I think they can give you a much better answer compared to what we are giving right now.
1154  Other / Meta / Re: Copy/Paste & Reference Link on: November 26, 2019, 05:53:31 PM
Copy pasting a news is different though, but for an article I guess it's a shame that we allow it. Both the topic have added nothing new just shared the text of the referenced article.
New rules regarding copy paste with reference must be developed to prevent this.

Their first post doesn't include any source links but when people mentioned it they quickly added it. But hypothetically speaking if I'm judging their posts right now (with source links on the OP) I couldn't count their methods of copying and pasting the article in their thread can be counted as plagiarism as for one they aren't taking credit that they made the post itself the source link alone should justify that they are providing the readers the original source of the body of their thread. I myself don't mind it as long as their posts have reference links for the original work it actually saves my time on reading the posts at the same time reading the article without switching to tabs just to see both.
1155  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What fee / byte (sat / byte) on: November 26, 2019, 03:27:47 PM
If you aren't in a hurry and you still don't know how to use the Mempool in identifying an appropriate fee then I think using the dynamic fee option might be ideal for you most hardware wallets have it. But the fees suggested are also kinda high and the transaction time is also on the quicker side so if you are planning to cut out the cost and wait a little bit longer I suggest you just use the dynamic fees as a guide then decrease it to maybe half of its suggested value and you can still have a good and fast transaction.
1156  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: November 25, 2019, 08:35:12 PM
Harden has a 40 ppg season, that is not something you can just forget. Luka will not be MVP because of 2 reasons, one he is too young and when a player is in his sophomore season there is rarely any look towards him by the NBA and even tho it is a wrong thing and they should look at Luka and how awesome he is playing, they usually don't (this is coming from "all star" selection because not many second year players have played at MVP level, maybe just d.rose). Second reason and most important one is that Dallas will not be a top three team when the league ends, which is why I think Luka will not be MPV.

Lebron is great and all but he has won already and for some reason league doesn't want to give players too many MVP anymore, they used to but not anymore, like Harden was sure fire MVP last year but they wanted to give it to Giannis, Lebron definitely deserves it but I don't know if the league will be looking over the fact he has won MVP before already and give him one more.

It's too early to tell for us to be predicting who will be the league MVP by the end of the season, the NBA teams haven't even played a fourth of their games yet so we don't know who who will be outperforming who and who will maintain a superb stats by the end of the season. I do agree with what you are saying about Luka Doncic but these guy is literally averaging a triple double each game and no one in the league can even match him not even Lebron or Harden can match what he is doing right now, if the voters which are analyst, sport casters, and announcers will disregard this a lot of people will get mad at them and they will certain receive a backlash against them especially when they make this look like that they don't want another foreigner winning the title.
1157  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price drop but institutional investors on Bakkt are buying like crazy! on: November 25, 2019, 07:38:12 PM
Bakkt always moves slower than ordinary markets, is this just my mind? I am just a little immune to fud, the institution always benefits from this, some of the panic things that I did in the conversion of usdt in the end still have to think clearly that the trend may not always be like now, I just protect the value of my assets for some time.

I don't think that they move slower per se but they are just waiting for the right time to buy and sell any asset. These is how financial institution works they don't participate with the noise happening around the market and they just wait for things to settle down a bit or if they decided to join the noise they'll make sure that their participation would result in a short which they have a power to do so, just by joining the noise with a little effort they are just risking all the money they have for nothing. At least when they participated buying BTC back at around the 6,500$ area it instantly paid off for them, they might also be the reason why BTC prevented to go down more with a little help of some whales of course.
1158  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Whales keep getting richer and richer while everybody else is losing... on: November 25, 2019, 07:11:48 PM
Not exactly..... if whales earn through influencing the prices why not follow them? You can't possibly know what they can do next but you can react to it rapidly once it had happen. Some call it "ride the wave" others call it "follow the trend" but both says the same thing and that is following the current movement of what is happening in the price chart. You might not have the same profit or returns as what the whales have but the trend is your friend and that is how you can maximize the profit in your trades and you can't even go against it in the first place.

Aside, whales are not that very influential to the traders, traders does influence the whales so they'll come up with traps in the market and they just have huge impact compared to us since they are holding bunch of money. Solution is pretty basic, just follow the trend.  If you can't lose them, join them.

I think you got it the other way around. Whales are the ones influencing the prices and not the us small time traders that can't even make a dent in the overall volume that's why we are the ones following the trend and the whales are the ones creating it. You might ask if whales are that powerful why they didn't change anything when an 18 month bear run has happened. It's because they wanted to accumulate more Bitcoin at it's lowest price and they don't want to trigger any kind of bull run during that time, we also have news regarding their accumulation stage during these past months. Just like what I have said other than following the trend you can also see some hints where you need to start accumulating and when you need to start offloading as the numbers of the whales can always be seen online.
1159  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: exx.com or exxvip.com or exx exchange is a scam!!! on: November 25, 2019, 06:17:38 PM
Basing it from what I see in feedbacks from Reddit and Bitcointalk related to this exchange they don't have anything good to say for the exchange and has been scamming users as early as Feb 2018 so I really wonder why their is a lot of silence going on regarding to this exchange. And why it the site still running until now? It's probably because of the fact that there are still no people coming forward against the exchange and their scam is not well known to others that's why the site is still operational for them. Another thing is that you will see lack of promotions happening from this exchange that is why it's not that popular on these forum or in Reddit and I guess its helping them to still scamming a lot of people.
1160  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Whales keep getting richer and richer while everybody else is losing... on: November 25, 2019, 05:13:32 PM
~snip~

This is actually what you are suppose to do in most markets. In Crypto you need to follow the whales and in stock trading you need to follow the banks and institutions buying and selling certain stocks. The problem is that even though some of this data is available for free its usually delivered late.

For example the leaderboard is updated around 9Pm Asia time. So even though you get a daily update, it will usually come way too late. And with stocks is also similiar. Various companies like the Berkshire Hathaway list what stocks they own and when they sold them, it doesn't list the price but you can figure it out by looking at the dates, however this information will come very late usually.
Well unlike in the stock where you have two options (maybe more) on whether to follow the investment firms' activity or follow the stocks fundamental analysis in the crypto market you really don't have that option. At least in the stock market they can be independent and not rely on the decisions of institutional investors since you can still find a good bargain with the conpany's financial performance. It's either you read the charts and see what it's telling you or don't read anything at all and shoot in the dark with your trade.
