301  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Social media is a breeding ground for scamers, be intelligent while you explore on: February 02, 2024, 07:14:22 PM
As this forum is concerned, there are different good people who will never allow scammers  to mislead others, that is why wrong information are always filtered out here and users are immediately cautioned  when they drop wrong information.

You may be putting the forum on a pedestal here.

Although it's not as bad as the heavily monetized social media platforms, this place is also filled with people trying to scam or take advantage off of people. As a community, we try to place cautions and correct misleading or wrong information but it's no way always done immediately and some are left alone. But tbf, there is no safe or almost safe public online community out there -- welcome to the internet amirite? lol.
302  Other / Meta / Re: Where can I post invite codes? on: February 02, 2024, 06:16:42 PM
As mentioned by other members, it's not allowed but there could be a few exceptions and you must have a good reason for it -- it must be not for the sake of spamming

See:
Your question shares a lot of similarities with this[1] one posted some time ago by Lucius. Here are two views, one according to theymos and another to hilariousetc:
Quote
However, if you are using the forum as a publishing platform to host something really substantial and useful, selling ads in that substantial work is allowed. To be eligible for this, your post must be in a topic that you started, and your post must be substantial and long enough to make the ad seem entirely insignificant. If in doubt, ask me.
Technically they're against the rules, but people kinda started to get a free pass in the Gambling Discussion sub a while back. Personally, I don't really care about them regarding users like tipsters who are giving their picks away for free and include a ref link if anyone wants to put the bet through them. At least they're putting some effort or at least thought into their posts, but I'm sure many others (including mods) would disagree. If someone just signs up to post a ref link though that would be a different story. Theymos will probably say take them on a case by case basis but I'm sure everyone has a different opinion on in what context they should or shouldn't be allowed (especially regarding tipsters).
There are exceptions, but there's also room for interpretation between staff members. In this scenario I would say that we can't really help you further until you post the reason that led you to ask this question and then we can share our opinion regarding such evidence / referral link.

If you do happen to get approved. I would suggest adding a bolded note about it in your post otherwise it might get deleted again.
303  Economy / Gambling / Re: Rollbit.com | Crypto's Most Rewarding Casino 👑 on: February 02, 2024, 02:21:26 PM
If you look at accusations in [LIST] Scam Accusation Cases Against Betting Platform on The Forum thread, you will see Rollbit had many accusations threads in Bitcointalk but those cases were resolved. Some accusations are invalid and only few cases are on-going.

A trusted casino do care about their customers and by taking customer accusations into account, investigated carefully and resolved those cases or answered that cases are invalid, it's show they do care about their business.

The list (above) somewhat is helpful for Rollbit reputation.

True.

and TBF, issues are inevitable in every kind of service so naturally, popular platforms are likely to get more complaints since the number of players is overwhelming. That's why  I don't buy it when an obscure platform advertises they have zero complaints lol. Numbers range seems pretty normal to me considering the popularity of rollbit.

Also agree we have to look into each case and pick up the deets and nuances in order to get the bigger picture.

the one that actually lost money tho they didn't deserve it (didn't was able to cash out etc)

But I'm kinda curious which case in particular was this 🤔
304  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Please I don't know if anyone can help me out of this on: February 01, 2024, 11:58:47 PM
The deposit was made on Monday, and I check it this morning, it was still 3 dollar worth of Bitcoin, and the transaction history their is no indications of a new transaction.

Sorry it wasn't clear to me but did you mean there is no trace of the new supposed 3 dollars in your transactions? You could also check this on any block explorer e.g. mempool.space

Because perhaps there is a new feature and trustwallet was merely marking how much of your balance was a dust amount and in this case all of them, hence:

*Available balance: three dollars btc, and the second is,
* dust: three dollars btc.

So for instance if I have 100 bucks and out of this balance, the 3 bucks is considered dust by my wallet, it will be like:

Available balance: 100$
Dust: 3$

It doesn't mean I now have 103 bucks but rather telling: among the 100 bucks worth of bitcoins, there is 3 bucks worth of dust.
305  Economy / Gambling / Re: JustCasino.io | Get the Best Crypto Casino Experience on: February 01, 2024, 10:58:45 PM
Same as what I experienced. I have also completed my first deposit, but I haven't seen any bonus credited for it. I was expecting it to be automatic, like in other casinos where the bonus is applied upon the first deposit. I initially disregarded it since I only deposited $20 to qualify for the slot contest you mentioned.

Probably has to do with the minimum deposit, IIRC it was 30 bucks or more.

Oh god, you were pretty much talking to a wall, op  Cry

Another company cost cutting on their customer support team, no surprise there. It's either a bot or some overworked and underpaid agents who are most likely in a hurry to fill their quota.

If you have time, you may wanna take this to their public community. Perhaps, they'll pay attention to your case more, see: https://www.reddit.com/r/Crypto_com/
307  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance alternatives on: February 01, 2024, 07:51:53 PM
I'll be putting my bitcoins in either TrustWallet or BlueWallet and if there's anyone here that can provide me some other wallet because I'm scared of the 1 star reviews of those two wallets.

1 star reviews from where? I remember reading low rated reviews back then on mycelium from people complaining about stuff they're at fault for lol. Wouldn't be weird if we have the same situation here.

Anyhow. Blue wallet is recommended! it's open source, feature packed and actively maintained. Trust wallet however is closed sourced which is a deal breaker for many of us. Then again, the open source alternative I could think of for multi-coin wallet is only Unstoppable Wallet which apparently appears to be prone on syncing issues -- in my case, it only happened once. Lemme link the discussion thread, see: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5436273.0

309  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: VPN - Differences between countries where gambling is legal and not on: February 01, 2024, 12:55:05 AM
Such as protection for gamblers who are cheated by casinos because their games are considered suspicious or because their accounts are blocked unilaterally by the casino. If yes, how do report it? if there isn't then there is no difference between countries that legalize gambling and those that don't

There should be a local regulatory body in charge for gambling things you could try to reach out to, however, keep in mind that changing your IP address to another country with better protection does not make you under their jurisdiction.

So that's all? countries where gambling is legal do not have laws or institutions to protect gamblers from online casino fraud? So how does a casino license work if gamblers cannot report or protect their gambling activities?

Rather than being legal alone, I think it has more to do with a country's legal framework around online gambling and how it is being enforced. For instance, in my place, gambling (both online + brick and mortar) is legal but there is more corruption [with the regulatory body in charge] than protection for their people lol.
310  Economy / Gambling / Re: JustCasino.io | Get the Best Crypto Casino Experience on: February 01, 2024, 12:04:03 AM
but upon depositing am surprised that you tell me am not eligible for any bonuses only need to use my real money ??

Wondering what happening here...

Code:
Email Extract
We would like to inform you that from now on the bonuses are not available for you, and unfortunately, you can play only for your real money.
But don`t give up! You can still make deposits, play and withdraw the funds.

Try to check the bonus terms of service, perhaps you'll find a hint there. But yeah, try to get in touch with their support ASAP. Sadly, I don't think justcasino rep is active here... which I suggest they should be.

The most important thing this tells us is that this promotional plan is not effective, and I do not believe that it achieved its desired goals. Or there is a lack of promotion of the competition itself.

Honestly, it could be the prize pool since it is lower than usual -- not trying to sound entitled or anything lol

Also, justcasino's presence being relatively new in the forum and multiplier contest typically not getting many entries.
311  Economy / Gambling / Re: Most Popular Cryptocurrencies in Online Casinos | Research January 2024 on: January 31, 2024, 10:22:45 PM
Thanks for the 2024 update @bitcasinorank!

I'm expecting more casinos to incorporate low miner/network fee coins as bitcoin pumps because I'm pretty sure so will be the miner fee. It's expected that people will be looking and requesting for some alternatives. I personally have started using litecoin more when bitcoin miner fees were skyrocketing. More will probably look into the lightning network as well but a lot may find it confusing and just settle with altcoins in the meantime.

It'd be nice if we can get a sub-category for USDT on which chain are supported the most too.
312  Economy / Exchanges / Re: eXch - instant exchange BTC / LN / XMR / LTC / ETH / ERC20 on: January 31, 2024, 07:16:00 PM
Hello @eXch.cc

Not that it's a serious matter at the moment, but I am just curious and thinking. Your x.com profile is named after a one Sarah Nugent (https://twitter.com/exchcx) with probably her profile photo or perhaps a fake one. I don't know. Why Sarah Nugent? Is she a representative? I hope it's a fake.

If indeed she's a real person out there, don't you think this might endanger her, given how hell-bent law enforcement is towards services that resist their directives?

The profile picture reminds me of something out of AI face generators particularly with the way it's awkwardly cropped 🤔

313  Economy / Exchanges / Re: All my savings on BKEX are gone. on: January 31, 2024, 06:39:20 PM
Many thanks for the answer. I didn't know that BKEX was a bad exchange. I have always bought and stored my coins in Binance. Since a few coins were not yet listed on Binance and only on BKEX, that's why I invested money there. It's been months and the stock market hasn't given any information or written a tweet on Twitter. I think all the money is gone and that really hurts...
Unfortunately, no authority intervened and wanted to examine the case and send these fraudsters behind bars...

It's a lesser known small exchange so there is less buzz. My guess is, most authorities have no idea of what has happened or worse, its existence.

But yeahhh, they have likely ran away. Their website too has been inaccessible from what I can see, see recent screenshots: https://urlscan.io/domain/www.bkex.com.

Tread cautiously with small exchanges, if you must use them, keep the amount in moderation. As much as possible, stick with the big ones however try not to develop a false sense of security as they are custodial platforms and not immune to hacks, funds mishandling, exit-scam, etc. so don't keep funds on custodial exchanges that you're not actively trading. For long term storage, get a non-custodial wallet like: Open Source Hardware Wallets
314  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: What's good with Blockchain.com? on: January 31, 2024, 02:39:12 AM
Where did they say this? Please link me if you can. I have used them for a couple of years for just basic storage purposes and I haven't been betrayed by them. Trezor FTW though!

Found it!

Finally, and most importantly, if you are storing large amounts of crypto assets do not use Exodus.

But it should be okay as a secondary wallet for day to day transactions specially if you want a (software) multi-currency wallet.

The transaction I sent out for $100 does not appear in my activity, but I did confirm with the recipient as well as on-chain and that BTC was sent, and that my change address received the proper amount. This used to be a pretty good wallet back in the day, I miss that beeping sound it would make when you'd receive money. I seriously hope this just fixes itself soon because this is just meant for basic transactions lmfao

Sadly, you're not the first one with this kind of thread. We typically see buggy reports when bitcoin price is pumping, likely because they have more traffic coming during this time. Perhaps it'll go back to normal soon.

316  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: What's good with Blockchain.com? on: January 30, 2024, 08:56:39 PM
Yeah maybe it is time I ditch them. Exodus has been an amazing wallet for years. Thanks man.

There are simply better wallets than blockchain.com out there. Last I check, their wallet is filled with their custodial products which I find clutter-y lol.

Exodus BTW is closed source + if your setup is exposed to the internet, it's only a secondary wallet at best. IIRC, even exodus said they do not recommend their wallet alone for large amounts of money.

I suggest a hardware wallet as a main for large amounts and hardened security, see: Open Source Hardware Wallets

317  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Rate at which p2p merchant are frauding people are high - always be vigillant on: January 30, 2024, 08:07:50 PM
Good job on not releasing funds, op.

But I would honestly avoid sleeping it off and start a dispute right away if it feels like I'm talking to a wall with the buyer or seller. This is because the other party could instead start a dispute and 'some' exchange may want you to respond in a timely manner so being MIA does not paint a good picture. It's also possible I may forget about it for some time and therefore, may be away for a longer period lol but that's just me.

On another note, hodlhodl has a nice security guide which for the most part is applicable in any p2p/hybrid-p2p exchanges, I recommend reading it at least once, see: https://medium.com/hodl-hodl/trading-security-guide-2f35c20e58f4
318  Economy / Marketplace / Re: need flash btc for legal work on: January 30, 2024, 07:44:34 PM
Be careful with this.

All the "flash bitcoin" I've heard are mental gymnastics scam, to name a few:

Flash BTC transactions
Flash Bitcoins r not a threat?
319  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Responsible Gambling Practices Most People Ignore and Sleep on on: January 30, 2024, 06:41:14 PM
These are good stuff, op.

But the hard part is you have to stick with them to eventually incorporate them in your habits and some people may struggle with this. If that's the case, I would recommend setting up a reward system that works for you everytime you do your part of the month/day.

There are also many apps that help you track your habits. I would recommend loop habit tracker for starters, see: https://loophabits.org/

For people who are worried about their data, they are stored locally and app is open source.
320  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If a addict lives within, which method would you choose to help them on: January 30, 2024, 05:57:32 PM
I've been to a couple of mental health online communities and second option is the most recommended to avoid at all cost as it apparently only made people feel worse and avoid treatment.

Hence, I'd always go for first option. Ideally, it is best to seek a professional help but if they're showing reluctance on that, they may try with self-help resources first -- what matters is they are progressing. When it comes to unhealthy habits, stopping all at once typically does not help for me. Instead, I reduce the consumption slowly and/or replace it with another alternative that gives almost the same amount of dopamine.

In extreme cases though, there may be a need for involuntary treatment as they could become a threat to people around them. In this case, reaching out to a professional or through the local social service is the next step.
