762  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Met Beautiful Young Asian Woman On Dating Site To Teach Me Trading on: June 18, 2023, 09:45:04 PM
Clearly ask how he trades if he is a professional trader who always makes a profit every time he trades.
The condition of the Bitcoin chart in a matter of hours has indeed increased. If he suggested buying Bitcoin and holding it for 60 seconds then selling, roughly how many times the profit would be.

Doesn't make a difference when OP is being redirected to a fake exchange the scammer actually owns.

The whole situation matches with pig-butchering scam, case is a confirmed scam, see: Asian guy/girl from online dating mentors you to invest in Forex/Cryptocurrency Trading -- Sha Zhu Pan 杀猪盘 or Pig-Butchering Scam
763  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: reputable escrow and hosting companies on: June 17, 2023, 08:24:02 AM
I'm trying to find a BTC escrow company. I'm buying a domain name from someone I don't know. He sounds legit, but who knows.

Here's what I've found so far. Some of them seem dubious, not user friendly, or abandoned. Use at your own risk.

Dubious and abandoned defeats the purpose of using an escrow, no? what's the use of a "middle man" if they're just more or less as unknown as the person you're transacting with. Reputation of solely from long time ago would send me doubts as well specially since I encountered a case where a scammer took over a closed escrow service's expired domain.

That being said, you could look into our forum escrow's as well

765  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beware of Pig Butchering Scam! on: June 15, 2023, 10:48:41 AM
Although it's a bit disturbing, the pig butchering scam name perfectly fits the scheme hence I do use the term more. A lot of people also refer to them as romance scam since they typically involve romance.

I wouldn't say the popularity is recent as I've been regularly seeing this kind of scam for years. I actually think it's the most popular crypto scam right now. There is an interesting blog from Cipherblade estimating billions have been lost, see: https://cipherblade.com/blog/the-prevalence-of-sha-zhu-pan-aka-pig-butchering-scams/

767  Economy / Exchanges / Re: blockchain.com exchange's linked telegram is now someone else... on: June 14, 2023, 11:44:42 PM
Moved the thread to Exchanges board as I noticed the article I mentioned was under the "Exchange" category - sorry 'bout that.

In addition, blockchain.com actually owned the @bcpit at some point hence I'm still leaning towards "someone took over" tho BCP admin/s likely unknowingly didn't know it was previously blockchain.com exchange's handle as we see a different group name.

The "pit" now makes sense as the exchange used to be pit.blockchain.com lol

1/ The secret is finally out 🎉we’re launching The PIT, the fastest crypto exchange in the world (come find us at pit.blockchain.com or @BlockchainPIT on Twitter and Instagram)

Connect with traders around the world by joining our other virtual communities:
Telegram 🇬🇧: t.me/bcPIT
Telegram 🇹🇷: t.me/thePITResmi
IG: instagram.com/blockchainPIT
FB: facebook.com/blockchainPIT

Not sure, but I believe it's an innocent mistake and there is no intention to scam. I might be wrong, though.

I agree but the thing about telegram is scammers just need to join/view the group channel to impersonate the support team and see if some gullible would bite. While blockchain.com takes their sweet time to edit links, hopefully, someone would see this thread and know joining the group chat is pretty much useless.

For the next step, maybe I will read about bitcoin wallets. I just got an electrum wallet, but I don't know what its features are yet. I thought I could learn it here for free.

Just to be sure, did you verify your electrum wallet? see tutorial at: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5240594.0

In any case, here's a brief description on what to expect on electrum, see: https://bitcoin.org/en/wallets/desktop/windows/electrum/
Note: other wallets as well as bitcoin related resources are also on there, you could try to explore the whole website as well.

Electrum Tutorials can be found on: https://bitcoinelectrum.com/ and we also have an Electrum child board if you have further questions, see: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=98.0
769  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What are the analogues of the site BestChange? on: June 14, 2023, 03:46:16 PM
Alternatively, you could tell us what you're looking for in an exchange and perhaps we could list some of them for you?

Back to your question: I don't know anything similar right now but for instant exchanges, I know OmegaStarScream is planning to create something similar so keep an eye on their Instant Exchanges thread, see: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5218464.0

It's not going to be an aggregator. I was actually thinking of maybe a combination of both sites so basically:

- Rates
- Open source or not
- Monero support
- Supported networks/chains and coins (with the ability to filter)
- LN support
- link to Trustpilot reviews + the ability to review the exchange on the site as well
etc.

Your thoughts? Or do you still think it's a bit pointless?

You could try to suggest a feature you wanna see as well. Who knows, they may consider it.
770  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM - Boomchange.com / Boomchange.io - Fake Crypto Exchanges on: June 13, 2023, 11:41:07 PM
I never conclude that Boomchange is a trusted site to scam site ? I just tried to investigate, check the reviews at Trustpilot and found this.

I never said you did either, my dude Cheesy

By the way, which site would you recommend to get the reviews feedback of the site.

Reviews should be spread out and weigh down so I'd say in as many place as possible.

Also if trustpilot reviews are fake, then we should declare Trustpilot site to be a fake and scam giving wrong projection of the sites.

My stance on this is I give them the benefit of the doubt mainly because there isn't any fool proof way of completely preventing fake reviews, we could only mitigate it. In addition, Trust Pilot is pretty popular hence is a frequent target.

I know there are paid reviews and all this stuff, but then all the reviews at Trustpilot are paid ones and those who were scammed at Boomchange never gave any reviews at Trustpilot  Huh

Perhaps because their .io domain was just made couple of months ago so there's not much attention. Their .com domain meanwhile which has been here for a lot longer is full of negative reviews, see: https://www.trustpilot.com/review/boomchange.com

It also helped that Trust Pilot removed fake reviews on there

We’ve removed a number of fake reviews for this company.

We believe these reviews relate to review seller networks that buy and sell fake reviews. These can lead to bias and compromise the reliability of reviews. We’re strongly against this.

We take the integrity of our platform very seriously. When we uncover misuse, we take action and alert our community.
771  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto exchanges on: June 13, 2023, 09:59:41 PM
Hey, everyone   Smiley
I have recently started to be interested in the issue of cryptocurrency, please, tell me which exchanges are considered the safest and most convenient?

I'm guessing this issue is related to exchanges, no? could you tell us which bit are you most concerned about?

Thing is, depending on your use case/s, it could be difficult to find the right balance between safety and convenience. At some point, you'll need to weigh them down. I suggest going into detail about your planned use-cases and your risk appetite like if you're fine with KYC or nah so we could at least narrow down the candidates otherwise you're likely to get general answers.
772  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Marketplace to sell gift cards with bitcoin with low fees on: June 13, 2023, 09:02:57 PM
You could also try making an offer on our Digital Goods board, see: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=93.0

But given your rank/reputation, you'll have to rely on established escrows to make it easier for people to trust you, see list: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=276897.0
773  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Coinbase Wallet not showing all my BTC on: June 12, 2023, 02:36:03 PM
Thanks for the advice on wallet choice, I'm unfamiliar with Electrum but will look into it if it's open source and considered a better option.

My plan was to send Bitcoin to Coinbase (self custody) wallet and ALTs to Trustwallet to diversify risk.

I noticed you mentioned Coinbase Wallet and Trust wallet, soooo are we talking about mobile wallets here? Electrum is the holy grail bitcoin software wallet for PC but last time I tried their android app, it's uh, too basic. I suggest you look into Blue Wallet instead if the situation is still the same. For ALTs there is also Unstoppable Wallet. Afaik both are open-source as well.

But op, if we're talking about decent amount of money here and/or storing for long term, you're better off looking into hardware wallets instead since they're not hot wallets hence you'll be minimizing a great amount of risk, see: Open Source Hardware Wallets
774  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stake platform on: June 12, 2023, 11:11:34 AM
Ponzi or not, I've made a few hundred dollars just with the Invite options and also I have already 2 contracts and 2 withdraws. So as long as they pay, I don't see any problem, and I really don't care how they make the money.

You mean "i don't really care if other people lose money as long as I get my share"? Ponzis are scam and some sacrificial lambs inevitably will lose money but ig it's okay as long as it's not you lol.

Who knows if they even pay or how long will they do so. Frankly, I don't trust your words as you're a newbie rank who created this account just to defend a shady-ass business.
775  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stake platform on: June 12, 2023, 09:55:39 AM
I made a 100 $ contract, it seems is OK, so i will wait and try a large amount later

OP... did you read the replies on this thread? everyone was against the platform and they all had good reasons for it.

In addition, even if this 100 bucks contract went fine, it doesn't mean you can trust the platform specially with a much larger amount as it could be a bait. Since we're talking about large amounts, the owner/scammer could even decide it's a good amount to run away and move to a new domain.
776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stake platform on: June 12, 2023, 09:14:54 AM
Either a ponzi or a straight up scam.

20% in 4 weeks is pretty high plus it's fixed hence, too good to be true. The fact that they claim it's made possible through their trading bot is even more nonsense because it's pretty impossible to generate consistently high af profits everytime which makes the model unsustainable - common thing with ponzis.

I highly doubt there is even a trading going on here lmao. If they had such method, they wouldn't waste time recruiting people lol.

777  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Lost 2.03 BTC via bitcoinpaperwallet.com Am I wasting my time trying to recover? on: June 12, 2023, 07:40:55 AM
If you're serious, I suggest asking a professional for a consultation, they would know better than average people on the internet. I'm not sure where you're from but some places offer not too expensive to free consultations.

You mentioned loads of fellas were also victims so perhaps you could try looking for them and see whether they're interested in your endeavor? it's always better with more people. I'm not sure where you and the person you're trying to sue is but if situation permits it, you could look into class actions and contingency-fee model where you will only pay when you won/settle the case.
778  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Any exchanges that are sweeping unconfirmed funds with CPFP?? on: June 11, 2023, 11:58:26 PM
^

Well, at some point, exchanges will consolidate inputs so perhaps someone could try to look into which exchange is relatively faster to consolidate inputs recently? Perhaps because of how bad the fees were, CEX prioritized relatively big amounts as well.

But yeah, the situation has gotten so much better compared to couple of weeks ago but I would still suggest consolidating your inputs- if you have many- when the fees are low.
779  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How can i download electrum for Bitcoin storage? on: June 10, 2023, 10:45:06 PM
I'm just gonna add that while reputable wallets like electrum, unstoppable wallet, etc. are surely a big plus when compared to blockchain.com, let's not forget that if you're setting up a hot wallet, then it's not recommended for big amounts.

So unless it's just a hundred bucks or so, I would opt for a hardware wallet instead if you want maximize your security while also keeping it convenient. I would look into this list: Open Source Hardware Wallets
780  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Reminder] hey bitcoiners, Did you forget to read the updates on terms&policies? on: June 10, 2023, 09:42:09 PM
Honestly, I typically just skim them whenever I register to a new platform. As for updates, I must admit I rarely look at them lol.

But if you've been dabbling with exchanges for years, most of them have similar clauses hence only a matter of time before you get used to it. Furthermore, I follow the "not your keys, not your coins" mantra so I know the extent of what to expect. For instance, I don't get surprised anymore whenever someone in the community share a clause they find disturbing.
