901  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Centralized Exchange and Decentralized Exchange on: April 11, 2023, 11:44:00 PM
-- There is no back door in DEX,which means it cannot be manipulated by government or anyone.

They could still be attacked so I wouldn't say they cannot be manipulated. Years ago, someone was able to exploit a vulnerability on bisq, see: https://decrypt.co/24961/hacker-steals-250000-from-crypto-exchange-bisq

Cons of Decentralized Exchange
-- For you to trade your bitcoin to fiat and vice versa, you need a trustworthy person to trade with,if not you can get scammed.

An escrow system is in place so I wouldn't worry about this.

Cons of Decentralized Exchange
--- You will lose your bitcoin, if you mistakenly send it to the wrong address, because Bitcoin transaction in the blockchain cannot be reversed.

It's not really a con cause people just have to be responsible. This is also something that exists in any situation where we have to initiate a crypto transaction including on centralized exchanges.

Cons of Decentralized Exchange
-- If you misplace your seed phrase, you will not have access to trading because your seed phrase is the what you will use to login to DEX.

Which particular platform are we talking about? your seed phrase should only be a backup of your wallet.
902  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Best Exchanges without KYC? on: April 11, 2023, 07:01:31 PM
ChangeNOW is not a non-custodial exchange. They like to call themselves non-custodial or "free of custody" as it says on their website, but it's not true. You deposit your coins into an address they control, not you. It's true that they don't request KYC, but that's not the case with their partner services. They might request that you identify yourself, and your crypto will be frozen until you do.

If for some reason someone wants to use changenow, I suggest using PNNV.com exchange instead.

It's sort of a proxy service for changenow? but has a no-kyc policy according from the owner.

When someone swap or exchange, the funds go to my account and in the backend, I'm sending my funds (that's why it takes a bit more time to swap) which means if someone loses money, I am responsible for it.
It's registered on my company and i dont need a KYC. I take full responsibility if any amount getting freeze ( which 99% wont happen ) but i take full responsibility.

I know it's basically just a promise but I'd rather go to a reputable member from here rather than changenow. However, I'd like to note the general rule for big amounts still applies - break it into pieces if it would pass on custodial wallets.

I think Changelly works in a similar way, but I have never tried it.

They do! look up their threads on bitcointalk and reddit, you'll find plenty of users whose funds were held hostage unless they KYC.
903  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bybit P2P Exchange Scam Modus on: April 11, 2023, 05:34:40 PM
I also received a message coming from a Gcash number that I indeed received the payment. I'm not sure how this happened that time but as reading in our local discussion about this subject. I find out that this is an SMS spoofing and they can fake a text message as if they are a real wallet message.

They probably used application to person messaging services which allows you to edit the sender ID to whatever you want. Since the phishing text also has the same "GCash" sender ID, it will be nestled along legitimate messages from actual GCash which can be a bit tricky for unsuspecting users. Same thing happened with singapore postal service years ago, see: https://mothership.sg/2019/03/scammers-phishing-links-singpost/

But good job on making it a habit to check your balance on your app! Some tips from hodlhodl apply in general so I recommend this reading as well, see: https://medium.com/hodl-hodl/trading-security-guide-2f35c20e58f4
904  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why Blockchair.com always proof captcha? on: April 11, 2023, 11:59:02 AM
because I try to open my bookmark with IDR and there is nothing problem with my side before. And, I had checked today and any currency has been resolved Maybe someone has reported this problem.

Just tried this and everything worked fine as well.

I used VPN before, and the problem also appears after disabling it. It seems a problem with my country I guess, I don't in another device, but when I check on another explorer like Blockchain, com, I get the same problem even use or without VPN.

What VPN did you use? assuming it's paid and reputable, perhaps you just need to play around with the location/servers in your settings. That's what I do if I encounter annoying captchas on websites and I solve my problem in a minute or less.

You could also try other block explorers like trezor's (https://btc1.trezor.io/) if they fit your use case. From what I see, they also have your currency - IDR.
905  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Paxful is closed. What P2P alternative do you recommend? on: April 10, 2023, 11:57:34 PM
While noones doesn't have mandatory identity verification for most countries, people should always be ready for it given the nature of these exchanges, unless you're only dealing with amounts you're fine parting with.
The platform needs some fixes in their Tos because they say someone can have $700 trading limit for email verification but without going through ID verification I can't able to access the marketplace so they made KYC now mandatory yet to make changes in the list I guess but its exact replica of Paxful and tried few trades there which works fine for me.

Thanks for the heads up. Can I confirm that you were not coming from one of these countries, see: https://support.noones.com/hc/en-us/articles/6125405610639-What-Countries-Require-ID-Verification-

and has confirmed your phone number with them when you tried the no-kyc tier?
906  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another scam email attempt on: April 10, 2023, 10:52:35 PM
I've also used the website haveibeenpwned.com and have suffered plenty of leaks. I've changed my password multiple times, but my email is still being targeted. Is there a way to save it, or should I just dump it?
Of course and I've changed the password, however, it's practically impossible to change all passwords that are associated with that email. I've stopped using it but it's still associated with a few important websites, such as Bitcointalk, Steam and a few others.

What do you mean by targeted? because if we're talking about scam emails, changing your password won't minimize them. In fact, once your data is out there, there's no going back.

or are you worried about people bruteforcing their way into your email and its connected accounts? if so...  let's say your email and password from example.com was leaked, then the perpetrators would easily be able to access those associated accounts that are using the same leaked password or easily guessable ones.

So you should be fine long as you maintain unique and strong password for each of your account (generated thru a password generator). and if you can, pair them with a secure 2fa method like TOTP, that way, the perp wouldn't be able to do anything using the mentioned leaked data.

However note that scammers would still be able to send you phishing emails hoping to catch you off guard. I would also look into any weak points of websites you use such as being able to reset your password using SMS codes/2fa which has been pretty insecure.
907  Other / Archival / Re: Sinbad.io Mixer - secure, fast and easy to use on: April 10, 2023, 03:54:40 PM
Do you own this site? The website design looks professional, perhaps better than the current version.

Code:
sinbadmixer.io

Can this be considered a clone site? Since the domain name is similar, but everything is different.

Yes! and they're also redirecting people to a different telegram:

Code:
t.me/SinbadMixer

The real one as we have seen on the ANN is: t.me/sinbadio_english

Going forward, I would consider any other domain names not mentioned in the ANN as a phishing attempt since I imagine sinbad would update us on all their official handles as they are advertising here plus people get to be on the safe side this way. My advice is to bookmark the links and the ANN thread.

While we're on this topic, there was another similar phishing website talked about days ago, see: sinbad-mixer.io is this a clone site?

They will probably increase over time...
908  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase planning to close accounts of certain users on 9th April? on: April 10, 2023, 10:41:52 AM
I received their 2nd update early this morning. And as announced before, my account will be limited to a number of services and I can only use one service, sending and receiving. Although, I also rarely use Coinbase and have not been supported by them to use services like buying and selling before. If anyone is using Coinbase for the purpose of sending funds this shouldn't cause any harm, but I don't think many people will still be using it today.
That is not clear to me, what I saw is sending of funds, nothing like receiving,

Same thought, plus it would make sense if send-only accounts are not able to receive. This is because coinbase is disabling users access to their entire custodial services hence placing accounts on send-only means people would only be able to do one thing - take their funds out to effectively leave the exchange. However, seeing how there seems to be no restriction for you all, perhaps we need to watch this for a few more days as JeromeTrash pointed out.

For this, I'm hoping it would be similar to binance's withdraw only accounts. Users are able to send their funds out just fine but they wouldn't be able to view their deposit addresses to avoid unwanted incidents.
909  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Paxful is closed. What P2P alternative do you recommend? on: April 09, 2023, 08:30:36 PM
Thanks for the info fella, just now saw this and entered into the platform which is same as Paxful UI with new name and one more point the website also carry over the feedback history of Paxful which I noticed after logged into the site. For now this seems to be my day trading platform but I encourage everyone to use platforms like Bisq that is something really p2p and completely anonymous.

If you're going with centralized platforms, you could probably get a better deal elsewhere.  I've looked into noones the other day and noticed people won't get too far with their email and ID, see lifetime limits.

While noones doesn't have mandatory identity verification for most countries, people should always be ready for it given the nature of these exchanges, unless you're only dealing with amounts you're fine parting with.

yeah that was crypto panic, i forgetten about that a year ago when i was familiar with this,

I've also tried them some time ago but I had so many sources I never wanna see e.g. those youtubers... and never found a way to efficiently filter my feed as I have to individually disable sources I don't like which would be a tedious task for me Undecided

But I was using a free account at that time so I'm not sure if such feature is locked to paying members.

and share more useful sites like that

For your question regarding news, I have made a Telegram bot that you might find useful[1]. It checks multiple news sources and notifies you as soon as an article is published.

Looks good! Do you have a full list of these news sources?

913  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Question about Freezing of account on: April 09, 2023, 09:51:43 AM
Its been confirmed mate. She has been scammed and registered to a wrong exchange. So I do hope everyone report this bitrue with a domain ends in [.cm] cause its a trapped exchange copy cat. My friend's friend accepted her fate and probably learn an expensive lesson here.

Has she written to bitrue.com about this? who knows they might actually do something about it like publish a warning for their users.

In the mean time, I dropped a report to:

1.https://safebrowsing.google.com/safebrowsing/report_phish/
2.https://www.netcom.cm - their registar according to whois

Netcom.cm Sarl

To be frank, I don't have high hopes about this but i guess, it's better than doing nothing where your chances are flat zero.

she got an email from them regarding freezing of her account due to malicious trading or abnormalities on her account which might involve in data leaking and money laundering. So they are holding her account balance. They said she needed to fund 20% of her account balance for verification purposes and this is within 3days span of time if not the account will be totally frozen.

I know the case is over but for people who may stumble upon this in the future, I'd like to note that this is just another spin of 'deposit first before you can withdraw' scam. Aside from money laundering, scammers have also used tax as another reason to convince their victims to deposit and hold their funds hostage.

Going forward, it's best to believe that any centralized exchange who ask for a huge ass deposit for your account to go back to normal standing is a scam.

A bit of a meta related suggestion: Perhaps edit the op and add an update as a lot of people only read the first post which means you could reach more people.
914  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Claim an old wallet and find the relative owner. on: April 08, 2023, 11:39:53 PM
But how do you know you need to find the owner? they could have other backups with them and you just need to destroy your copy so all is well again.

In any case, such scenerio is unlikely to happen and hence you shouldn't worry too much op.
915  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: sinbad-mixer.io is this a clone site? on: April 08, 2023, 08:47:41 PM
Buying similar domine names isn't a practical solution to prevent cybersquatting, imo. The same domains with other common TLDs have already been registered and buying them may cost a fortune. Besides, there is a high chance to miss some of them. So, this is only going to give customers a false sense of security believing that even if they make a typo they will be redirected to the real website.
It's the visitors duty to check and double check the the URL before making a deposit. It's also the community's duty to report phishing websites.

Additionally, there are 1K+ TLDs out there not to mention, with each TLD there are multiple ways to create a similar SLD e.g. slnbad, sinbed, slnbed, sin-bad, sinbadmixer, mixersinbad, sinbad-mixer, etc. If they're gonna buy all/most related domain names, imagine how many is that? @-@

Honestly, with people who don't have a habit of verifying links, there's a limit on how much baby sitting a website can do...
916  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What happens If Binance Exchange Flee Away like FTX on: April 08, 2023, 05:27:42 PM
I also think bitcoin will recover and go back to normal after some time. This is because, most people’s doubt/distrust will center around centralized exchanges and not bitcoin. The situation should be pretty easy to understand, you lost your coins because the exchange you’re using fucked up not because bitcoin is at fault. People who just entered the bitcoin market may leave but I'm not expecting those that have been watching bitcoin for years to do so as well - especially those that have witnessed exchange hacks.

The silver lining in all of that is we can expect this to create a way bigger distrust against centralized exchanges than it did back then. Although my gut tells me most people will just move to another centralized exchange once things gets comfortable again. I’m expecting a portion of them to slowly test the waters with non-custodial exchanges or true dexes and/or perhaps be cautious with how they use CEXes.
917  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto-related problems in Ireland and The Netherlands! on: April 07, 2023, 09:35:31 PM
What's your use-case op?

I'm not from there but if you're trading, I would check with the centralized exchanges you use (if any) if there's gonna be a problem with them as well as the crypto tax laws that may apply in your case, read this guide for general information: https://koinly.io/guides/

Meta: probably move this in beginners and help as well so you get more responses?
918  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.com "oops, something went wrong..." on: April 05, 2023, 08:20:43 PM
Their customer support hasnt replied in 3 days.
Ive found 4 more people with the same problem with SOL.

Try to escalate your ticket number on twitter:

https://twitter.com/AskBlockchain
https://twitter.com/Blockchain

Basically the only way i can see my SOL balance is through their phone app - This method works on any phone.

It appears SOL is only available on their mobile app as I logged in on the web and couldn't find it? There's also a recent article about their new revamped app, see: https://medium.com/blockchain/new-blockchain-com-app-the-only-crypto-app-youll-ever-need-a4ea497f8f21

Did you just started using blockchain.com for SOL?

Quote
If I try to import my wallet to ANY other app my SOL balance appears to be 0.

If the address doesn't match, it's incompatible. I honestly couldn't find any information about their solana wallet and since this appears to be newly integrated I'm not surprised I couldn't find anyone trying to import their blockchain.com sol wallet when I hit the subreddits. Nevertheless, I've tried with the popular wallets and no luck - exodus, trust, phantom and crypto.com defi wallet.

You may be stuck with their support for a while...
919  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase planning to close accounts of certain users on 9th April? on: April 05, 2023, 01:30:52 PM
Has anyone finally explained what kind of fulfilment of standards they are talking about here?

Quote
we’re disabling access for accounts that no longer meet our updated standards for these services.

I honestly don't expect them to ever tell us anything clear since they've been closing accounts this way for years - slap a notice out of the blue and tell you to withdraw.

Yesterday I logged into Coinbase for the first time in about 4 months and was met with this message:

Unfortunately we have had to close your Coinbase account. Before your account can be closed, you will need to withdraw your bitcoin to an external wallet and any other funds to an attached bank account. Please be sure to delete any references to bitcoin addresses generated by Coinbase, as bitcoin sent to those addresses will not be retrievable once the account is closed. If you have any questions you may contact us at support@coinbase.com.
I just withdrew all of my BTC from coinbase account and now i see this error :

Unfortunately we have had to close your Coinbase account. Before your account can be closed, you will need to withdraw your bitcoin to an external wallet and any other funds to an attached bank account. Please be sure to delete any references to bitcoin addresses generated by Coinbase, as bitcoin sent to those addresses will not be retrievable once the account is closed. If you have any questions you may contact us at support@coinbase.com.
Here is there response upon logging in to a closed account:

Unfortunately we have had to close your Coinbase account. Before your account can be closed, you will need to withdraw your funds to an external wallet and any other funds to an attached bank account. Please be sure to delete any references to digital currency addresses generated by Coinbase, as funds sent to those addresses will not be retrievable once the account is closed. If you have any questions you may contact us at support@coinbase.com.
I'm a long-term customer of Coinbase. Had an account and a card with them for years with no issues. Today I received this:

Unfortunately we have to close your Coinbase account. Before your account can be closed, you’ll need to withdraw your crypto funds to an external wallet and your cash funds to a bank account associated with your Coinbase account. If you are currently enrolled in USD Coin rewards, you may want to wait up to 40 days before withdrawing funds to ensure you have received all eligible reward payouts. You will not be able to access these funds after account closure. Please take precautions when transferring cryptocurrency to an external wallet as transfers outside of Coinbase are irreversible. Please also be sure to delete any external references to cryptocurrency addresses generated by Coinbase, as funds sent to those addresses will not be accessible once the account is closed. If you have any questions you may visit https://support.coinbase.com.

No reason why, nothing. Is it common? Anyone here also dumped by Coinbase just like that?  Huh

If they ever do due to public demand, it'll probably be something vague.

for some reason, I received two emails with slight differences.

I guess we'll know on April 9, please update us if you can  Cheesy

Do you have a balance in your account? - that's not dust
