Want to shake hands?

(Remember what that was like, back in the old days of all the years B.V. (‘Before the Virus’)?)
Just like old days.
Hashtag SocialGathering

From fear of loss of life, how much do we give up in loss of living?

In the old days, B.V., self-isolation, avoidance of socialization, and anything that could be called “social distancing” from fear of germs was considered an indicator of need for psychotherapy.

Don’t forget that in the old days, there was always a nonzero, actually not-insignificant risk of contracting nasty pathogens from ordinary social contact.  That risk still exists; it is drastically increased by COVID-19, but still exists quite apart from COVID-19.  If SARS-CoV-2 were to totally disappear tomorrow, then the risk would still exist.

There is a rare worldwide shared cultural experience going on in the form of the pandemic and the resulting unprecedented social distancing policies.

By the way...

I snapped off and YELLED at an elderly relative.  A month ago, he was terrified that he would die Any Day Now from the frailty and ill health of old age.  Now, he has declared that coronavirus is “The End of the World”—quote-unquote; his words.

There is indeed a high probability that he will now die of coronavirus, given his age and general state of health—that he will now die of coronavirus, instead of dying of whatever scared him a month ago, and two months ago, and six months ago...  [...]

Given the high risk to him, I do want for him to treasure whatever remaining days he may have—without being consumed by obsessive fear.  But that is not under my control.

I have elderly family members whom I now have not seen in several weeks.  They are now in strict isolation.  They may somehow catch COVID-19 anyway—or, because they are old and in poor health, they may drop dead any day from something else.  They and I may now be losing our last-ever opportunity to spend some cheerful quality time together.  Or any time together.  We may literally never see each other in person again, because of attempts to protect them from COVID-19.

It may be a reasonable trade-off.  Or maybe not.  Nobody is talking about this.  Nobody even dares to think about it.

In my own life, to protect myself, I am making some severe trade-offs.  But I am doing that consciously, coldly, without fear; and there are individuals whom I care about sufficiently that for my part, I would risk COVID-19 to spend some time with them if I could.  There are also faraway individuals whose actual illness with COVID-19 I would personally attend if I could, even if they were to cough all over me—even though that would be almost tantamount to a suicide mission for me.  Each trade-off must be weighed differently—consciously, coldly, without fear...

As with several past bitcointalk.org April Fools things, it's more of a new/weird/fun way for people to interact with the forum and generate discussion, not a joke as such. Certainly it wasn't meant to somehow poke fun at the many real tragedies created by the coronavirus situation; it was meant to connect with the huge thing dominating the minds/lives of basically everyone on Earth.

Thank you, theymos.

Dear readers of the forum:

Some of you will die from the coronavirus.  (—Some few of you:  The virus has low lethality except to the aged or otherwise frail.)  The virus may kill me, too; maybe, maybe not.  That is acceptable:  Life is risk, and death is a part of life.  My only sadness is that sometimes, the worst befalls the best of people.

What is unacceptable is panic, bureaucratic “do something!” tyranny, and worst of all, hybris.

Also and overall, cowardice.  Difficulty coping with the reality that life was never safe:  It is just more unsafe than it was B.V., and is actually being made much more unsafe by panic reactions.
1322  Economy / Speculation / [WO] Progress of Progressiveness, in times of *crisis* and *panic* on: April 02, 2020, 12:41:47 AM

Damn, V8s, you are ahead of me.  So, which country’s leader is the new Stalin?

The New Normality is neatly globalized as the Internationale, so I think that we can mix and match here.

I would like to thank the American President Trump for being an even bigger liberal than Obama.  If President Roosevelt was the American Kerensky, Trump will be the American Lenin!

Let us not forget that the crisis in Russia in 1917 was real, and the crisis in America in 1933 was real.  Real crises are amplified, aggravated, and exploited by Communists.

We won! No virus anymore!!

1324  Economy / Speculation / [WO] A delicate balance on: April 02, 2020, 12:07:28 AM
I surely am NOT sympathetic to the way that cryptotourist and BAC went on the attack, yet sometimes it is NOT easy to frame matters with reasonable empathy.

FWIW, I don’t think the responses can be categorized together.  Cryptotourist expressed a reasonable skepticism in a civil manner, neatly hedged just in case someone actually died:

This is a sad day.

My sisters husband, his dad passed away from Covid-19 this morning.

He didn't had any health problems, dead within 12 hours just like that. Cry

Call me cruel, but somehow I do not believe you.
In the COV19 part.

Sorry for your loss.

I do think that BayAreaCoins overshot.  Not because I give a hoot about “empathy” (I don’t), but because he drew unwarranted inferences as to fact.  On the face of Paashaas’ post (not having time to check his post history now), there is no evidence but to conclude that (0) somebody may or may not have died, and (1) if somebody died, it was probably not from COVID-19.  In case somebody actually died, appropriate courtesy is in order so as to not trivialize it.  I think that Cryptotourist struck a decent balance.

(An Internet forum post reports that somebody with no pre-existing health problems died of COVID-19 within twelve hours of first presenting symptoms?  Or maybe even within twelve hours of exposure?  Skepticism is warranted—not, “I read it on the Internet, so it must be true.”)

I second what Cryptotourist said.

Paashaas, condolences for your report of a death in your family at what must be a very difficult time.

There is something missing from your story.  That does tend to happen, when people are shocked with grief.  Please do understand that there is a major problem with disinformation right now.  I suggest that for your own sake and the sake of your family, you should not jump to conclusions that this death was caused by COVID-19.  If you have some extraordinary evidence that it was, then you should consider telling us:  A healthy person very suddenly dropping dead from COVID-19 “just like that. Cry” would be a serious matter of public interest.

I oughtn’t need to remark on the agonies of hell deserved by anybody who tells Internet fake stories that trivialize a plague causing intense suffering to real people.
1325  Other / Meta / theymos’ viral joke on: April 01, 2020, 11:31:02 PM
@theymos, please open-source the forum virus tomorrow. :-)

Also, if it does not place too high a load on the forum’s servers, I suggest making it a feature which can be activated with a URL parameter so that those who find this amusing can track the spread of the virus in coming days.  We must track the spread of the virus!

* ñ͙̟̯̻͆̄̌̽ų̠̮̭̳̱̫̑̅ḽ͓̍͒̏̂͠l͕͈͍̟̼͈͔͔̘į̶͓̰̝̺̞́ǔ̪̺̣̈́͐ş̨̥̳̯͕̣͙͌͂́́ has a refined sense d’humour noir.

That confirms it; theymos apparently thinks it's funny to joke about a disease outbreak that (by my guesstimate) will probably directly kill at least a million people

Roll Eyes If you choose to see-as-evil acts which were clearly done in the spirit of fun & good faith, then you're creating demons for your personal living hell...

There is a rare worldwide shared cultural experience going on in the form of the pandemic and the resulting unprecedented social distancing policies. It's similar to a world war in terms of its widespread cultural significance.

As someone whose personal life has become a smoking wreck the past few weeks and is at high personal health risk from COVID-19, I must thank you for the laughs.  Much needed right now.

This will not be the end of the world, unless ovine talking apes collectively choose to make it so.

As I remarked in WO before I found this thread—though of course, obviously, I am reading into this my own opinions as I have stated repeatedly:

I believe that I understand theymos’ point.

Lockdowns, unlimited government emergency powers, wrecking the economy, isolating ourselves from any human connection with each other:  We are doing all this, over coronavirus?

COVID-19 is bad.  But it is not Ebola, Black Death, or even smallpox.  So...  Seriously?

So this little game came to my mind to connect with it.

As aforesaid, I read into it a serious message.  It did generate from me about as much serious discussion as I could bat out in a few lines.  What I did not read into it was any attempt to trivialize real-life tragedies; and I am not sure why anybody would take it that way, other than being overly sensitive.  Anyway...

I am dying to know the algorithm!

—Um, oops, “dying” was an inappropriate word here.  Hahah.

How did you avoid getting infected?

I had not posted in days.  And that was my first post in an active thread involving other people.  Before that, my only activity today was to create a new topic.

Hint:

News: The virus is now s̴͜͠p̶̰͝r̷̰̅e̶̦̽a̵̼͂d̴͉̑ỉ̷̖n̸̙̏g̷̬͝ even online; practice social distancing!

I seem to have caught it now.  I just checked Satoshi’s last post, and noticed that he has not caught it.

I infer that the more you interact with others on the forum today, the worse your posts will be infected.

P.S., I still intend to reply to theymos and others when I have time and energy to spare for a suitable essay.  Meanwhile, mmmphf mmm mmmm MMMMPH.

Thanks.  I thought I had myself covered; it is why I have had such difficulty communicating with the forum.

1327  Economy / Speculation / [WO] The transition of the Nullian Nocoiner! $$$ U.S. DOLLAR TO THE MOON!! on: April 01, 2020, 09:29:32 PM
OK, folks, I’m out.  I sold all my Bitcoin.

The thing could go to zero anytime.  It is not backed by anything.

I believe in the dollar, because it is backed by the full faith and credit of the United States.  And the credibility of the United States is unarguable:  If anybody lacks faith in the United States, then the Americans will just bomb the hell out of them, and print more dollars to pay for the shiny new American war.  See how that works?

If you look at a chart of the dollar’s purchase-power since 1913, then you will see that the dollar is a doubleplusgood store of value.

$$$ U.S. Dollar TO THE MOON! $$$

Source: Found through image search, then
lightly massaged with the power of wishful thinking:  MOON!

$1 = $1

* nully is a lunatic moonstruck

In unrelated news, I have begun my transition.  The immediate impetus is that I’ve been told to go fuck myself so many times, I began to take that literally.  Anyway...  Gender is a social construct, and I was born this way—I am just wired this way.  Respect my choices and respect my unalterable innate characteristics!

I will be asking theymos to change my username to nullia; if he does not comply, then I will sue the forum for gender discrimination.  Henceforth, you shall all address me by the pronouns they/them (preferred) or zhe/zer, instead of using cisnormative pronouns that are very offensive to me.

I recommend that WO implement a Code of Conduct (WOCOC) to prevent cyberbullying, and foster an inclusive space for discussion of TA.  Also, stop calling it “TA”!  That is a microaggressive sexist term that makes a hostile environment for women in the male-dominated world of Bitcoin finance, with an obvious subtextual reference to the male gaze that objectifies the breasts and buttocks of persons of female gender.

No more toxic masculinity!  No more of this:

Now, I will be pretty.  Am I not pretty?  Tell me I’m pretty!  DO IT, OR ELSE I WILL TWEET-BRIGADE YOU!

I would like to thank the American President Trump for being an even bigger liberal than Obama.  If President Roosevelt was the American Kerensky, Trump will be the American Lenin!

I would like to thank the Ministry of Love for curing me of my sickness, and teaching me to love myself.

Now, please, let’s have a hug and wish for world peace.  Which will definitely happen after the Americans bomb everybody in the world to death!

1328  Economy / Reputation / Lauda created the coronavirus! on: April 01, 2020, 08:29:33 PM

THE TRUTH IS OUT:  L̨̙̘̠͉̀̍̑͟ą̷̲̘͚͎͎̙̩͚͙̪̋ͅu̵͕̬͔̰͍̰̮̳̪͓͚̟̲̔̇d̢͇͉̟̱̩̃̉̚ͅa̻̩͙̫͙͈̽͆ created SARS-CoV-2.  Proofs for all to s̨̗͉̞̳̋̆͊͊̍͊͊͐͟ę͈̱̙̯̂̈́͑͐͆͊̍͜͝ȩ̨̢̛̰͍̟͑̑̀̈̽͘͠:

0. Lauda is evil!

Virtue [is] the edit distance between your name and "Lauda".

The one ẃ̠̲̇ͅḣ͓̖̯͋o̢̱̲ is the opposite of Virtue created the coronavirus!  It is purely and simply logical!

1. Lauda is a w͖͗̾̏̿̏́̀̂͆î̬̥͚͖͂̈́͗͂͛̍͜ţ͕̤̯̜̂͑͋̓͗̇̂̇̋͘c̛̯͎̬̙͑̂̑͌̊̂͟͡h͎͙̰̑̋̓͆̇̐̐̊͘̚͜͟ !

Lauda is well-known to practise witchcraft.

It is also well-known and MEDICALLY DOCUMENTED that she uses witchcraft to cause diseases, such as pleurodelinaemia.

It is ą̨̛̠̈͂͋͋̇̐̄ MATHEMATICAL SYLLOGISM:  Ȃ̸͂r̛̓̍͊̋̿o̊̒͐̌͒͊u̵͒̾n̴̿̏͊͛͑̌d͑̍̌̔ two years ago, Lauda did this...

Lauda became angry at me when I failed to keep up a regular schedule of worshipping the devil and oppressing spammers and scammers poor, innocent denizens of the forum.  Now, it is difficult for me to type any posts at all.  Just look at me!  My fingers!

2. Lauda suppresses THE TRUTH with psy-ops!

A bit disappointing that so many Bitcoiners fall for random pseudo-science conspiracy bullshit. Just remember when the next time you tell somebody that they are a sheep for not using Bitcoin o̵¯̯̤̙̰̯͖̱̞͔̬̗̒͟r̡͖̹̥͉̬̻̻̻̺͐͠ͅ hating banks, look in the mirror first.  Undecided

pseudo-science
Lot of people using this word lately. I think they can be safely ignored. It's just a way to dismiss anything you don't like.
If you do not know what pseudo-science is, then I am not surprised by anything. What is next, reptilians ordered Bill Gates to create the virus?  Roll Eyes Alex Jones got nothing on you folk.

Duh, how obvious could ẗ̯̹̜̭̯͉̒̓͆͘̚ḩ̸̺͚͈̩̞̓̄͋͗̓͝͝i̸̧̛̻͖͔̼͒̀̔͒͂̚ͅṡ̼͓̳͇̤̍͊̽͑͌͛͜ be!?  Ļ̡̛̭̫̳͔̖͍̰̗̐̋͟ͅâ̖̱͗̊͘̚͠͠ú͇̪͉̹̯̖̲̝͊͐͑ͅd̡͍̠̤̻̺͇̺͟ă̌́̄͌̂̔̋͡͠ created the rumour that Bill Gates created the virus, and then denied it, as p̹͍̪͒̽͟͠a̰͎͈̱͎̔̐͠r̵̤̥̤͉͙͋̈̏t̴̖̰̪̭͗̊̚͟ of her own cover-up!

3. Lauda is the leader of a̫͍͙͚͑̂͛́͋̄̓̊̍͘ dangerous cult!

Lauda currently has two DT negative trust feedbacks for creating “a pseudo-religious cult”, i.e. the Cult of Lauda.  N.b. that peloso is currently in DT1, and Balthazar is currently in DT2.  This is proof that democratic DT is broken by design they both have trustworthy judgment.

Balthazar2020-03-03ReferenceCreated a pseudo-religious cult to manipulate default trust list. If I remember correctly, this user was claiming that such activities are untrustworthy (see peloso user profile for details).

Whereupon, let us apply the power of sound reason:

  • Cult leaders are dangerous people.  Some cult leaders do bioterrorism.
  • Lauda is a v̯͇̰͔̖̰̫̼͛̿̽̆̿e̝͚̝̘͙͚̗͑̐́͛̊͜r̝̥̻̗̬̲̀̒̿̈́͜ͅy̢̨̞̼̞̪̝̽̆͒ serious cult leader.  (I know that DT members would never issue negative feedback for patently ridiculous non-reasons!)
  • Therefore, Lauda created SARS-CoV-2.  Q.E.D.!

4. Lauda is “the greatest [] threat”!

...Lauda [+1000]...

...the greatest current authoritarian threat who would crush the liberty you portray to protect...

Who other than “the greatest threat” would create a global pandemic?  Enough said.

(Further proofs may be added as I have time to imagine them discover them.)

What more proof do ÿ͉͔̖͇̓̊̈̆͐͘̚͠ơ̛͎͖͗̐̀́̽̍͐̄͟ͅu̹̰̖̥͐̓͗͆̂̾͗̆͑͑̓ need!?  It is cǫ̴̖̱̼̺̪̯͓͈͙̈͝m̵̧͓̘̩̭̝̱͖̠̋̀͜p̲̟̪̠̹̙̲͇̺̔͒͟l̡̟̯̝̲̬͕͑̓͜͟e̢̧̞̪͍̤̥̲̜̙t̴͔̺̱̥̲̥̮̭̼̞̾̏e̢̢̧͓̬̘̼̟͜ļ̺͕͖̗̱̲̫͎̀ͅy̡̧̛̼͕͍̖̯̯͈͙̿ obvious.  If you disagree, then you must be part of t͕͓̖̭̤̤ͅh̠͕̳̫̪̲̻ȩ̶̫̖̳̼̠̺ cover-up.

It’s not the CIA.

It’s not the Chinese.

It’s not Bill Gates.

And of course, there is absolutely no way that this virus w̧̩̯̝̒͜͜a̪̼̯̹̮̠ş̧̱̮̟̘̎ a “natural” occurrence!

IT IS LAUDA.

When time permits, I must catch up with important replies on various threads.  First things first:  Assuring communications security.

Refreshed key.  The only change:  New certification signature on the same old encryption subkey.  No need to quote; it is the same key as I have been using since 2017, only with a new self-signature omitting the key expiration time (subpacket type 9) for one subkey.  As a separate matter, fresh verifications are periodically made here.

-----END PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK-----

I do not generally recommend setting such short expirations as I had been using on my encryption subkey.  I have done that in the expectation that I would upgrade my keymat handling in ways that I do not wish to discuss publicly, and issue a new subkey.  Plans have been delayed.  Now, as a hedge against future uncertainties (and in view of my own abysmal past performance in keeping this updated), I have removed the expiration date so as to assure that people will always have some means to encrypt a message to me.  If or when I complete the upgrade, then I should just revoke the old encryption subkey.  It is not known or suspected to be compromised in any way.

~

I did not reply before, because you gave a substantive response that I think warrants discussion best split off to a new thread; and my attention has been diverted elsewhere, unfortunately.

(It would be good to pick up a technical discussion about practical cryptographic security, instead of wading through another myriad posts about how Bill Gates created the coronavirus to push you to use vaccines instead of taking megadoses of Vitamin C, or whatever—ahem.)

In brief, I think that you have a flawed threat model based on an incomplete understanding of what various uses of signatures do and don’t prove.  It is an important issue.  I should take it up sometime.

Like I said earlier, what if somebody created the account and the key pair at the same time, and then passed off the account to somebody else while keeping the key pair for themselves? Was the post with the public key also timestamped at the exact same moment of creation as the account and key pair? Obviously no, it wasn't.

I don’t see any practical freshness problem, whereas the user posted a key containing within itself a signature on a forum account uid within eight hours after that forum account was created.

Timestamps on signatures can be trivially faked, anyway.  `man gpg`, look for `--faked-system-time`.  In your scenario, why couldn’t the user create a forward-dated signed statement, then pass off the account and the signed statement (but not the private key)?  If the new account holder is willing to post a public key (with userid claiming the account) for which he does not control the corresponding private key, then he would also be willing to post a forward-dated signed statement; and in any case, the parties are colluding in a way that is almost impossible to detect or prevent.  Moreover, given that both new PGP keys and brand-new forum accounts are easy to create, I do not even see what an attacker would be trying to accomplish in the scenario that you stated.

It is for reason of the ease of forward-dating signature timestamps that in the Nullian Verifiation thread, I include the infeasible-to-predict current information such as the past few Bitcoin block hashes within the signed statement.  Satoshi included a current news headline in the Genesis Block for the same purpose.  Add OpenTimestamps to prevent backdating, and the time of actual signing is strongly evidenced to be within a very short window.

For example, the signature on 2020-03-15 verification is strongly evidenced to have been created before Bitcoin block height 621774 (per OpenTimestamps), and after block height 621772 (for which the signed message contains the block hash, plus the nine preceding block hashes).  I do believe that that is stronger evidence of the time of a signature than anybody has ever provided in these forum PGP threads!

BREAKING NEWS: Federal Reserve Announces Decentralization of the U.S. Dollar

The United States Federal Reserve has announced that it will decentralize the U.S. dollar by distributing money-printing technology to each and every individual.

The new QE Infinity® brand of money-printer will permit people to produce dollars in the safety of their homes, without the risk of violating social distancing rules.  A contract for manufacturing of the printer has been provisionally awarded to Wuhan Fintech Ltd.

I hope that the new QE Infinity® printers will let people produce $100 trillion banknotes of such elegance from the safety of their prisons “homes”.

For you Americans, “Hundert Billionen” means what you would call 100 trillion-with-a-T:

Cheers!

Federal Reserve Announces Decentralization of the U.S. Dollar

23 March 2020
Nullwire

TERRA NULLIUS, CYPHERSPACE (*NULL)—The United States Federal Reserve has announced that it will decentralize the U.S. dollar by distributing money-printing technology to each and every individual.

The new QE Infinity® brand of money-printer will permit people to produce dollars in the safety of their homes, without the risk of violating social distancing rules.  A contract for manufacturing of the printer has been provisionally awarded to Wuhan Fintech Ltd.

For individuals and businesses who wish to refill their bank accounts without the risk of physical activity, initial releases of the Virtual QE Infinity® software package will soon be available for Apple iPhone, Google Android, and Microsoft Windows.  A Virtual QE Infinity® web app will also be available at MakeMoney.Gov.

U.S. President Donald Trump tweeted, “It’s my idea.  Why should Wall Street get all the fun?  I promised the American people that I would stand up for Main Street.  So I told Stevie, call the bank, make it happen, or else YOU’RE FIRED!  #MAGA

“Unlike Bitcoin, this is not money created out of thin air:  It is real money, backed by the Full Faith and Credit of the United States 🇺🇸,” Trump added in a subsequent tweet.

Trump simultaneously announced a Federally funded scientific programme to cure the coronavirus, Ebola, cancer, AIDS, and death by the power of wishful thinking.

“If you think positive, think big, there’s no limit to what you can do.  People believe in the dollar.  This works the same way,” Trump tweeted.

The Dow soared infinite points within minutes after the announcement.

In reaction to the news, a European Central Bank spokescreature announced, “To keep the E.U. competitive in this new reality, E.C.B. President Christine Lagarde will be stepping aside to make way for the financial expertise of Zimbabwe’s President Emeritus, Robert Mugabe.  Mr. Mugabe will be granted honourary E.U. citizenship, as soon as American scientists can raise him from the dead for us.”

In unrelated news, the E.C.B. headquarters will be relocating from Frankfurt to Weimar.

I really wonder for how much longer the American people will let an obvious morbus pick patient run the show.

He's not exhibiting "personality change" nor "hostile social conduct towards family members".

Biden has dementia for sure, so it's not like he's a better choice.

The orange guy wasn't doing particularly well even without this crisis anyway. His besties Barack and Bill were doing better.

Are you folks seriously arguing that you can taste the difference between Coke and Pepsi?

...I’d take Tweedledum.  No, wait—Tweedledee.  No—  I can’t decide!

I think the correct choice is neither.

Or do you actually believe that your preferred brand of flavoured sugar-water would avoid hyperinflation by telling people that, no, you can’t have infinite free money.  ← deliberately punctuated with a full stop.

Music

Start here: https://imslp.org/
Many good-quality recordings are available for free download, legal in at least some parts of the world.  You may or may not need to use an Unamerican IP address for some of the legal download links; I’m not sure.  Of course, if you are a musician, the scores at IMSLP (which has merged in the Werner Icking archive) and Mutopia will be invaluable.

There are other sources of legal classical music recordings; but the ones I know tend to be of poor quality, in my never-humble opinion.  For illegal classical music, to have some culturally refined Russian friends with private torrents will probably do better than TPB; but the latter is worth a look, too.  Other suggestions will be appreciated.

I will not make any specific recommendations.  Sorry, “what music do you listen to?” is too personally revealing.

Libraries!  Poetry and other Literature—Books of all Kinds!

These dovetail in practice:  The Internet Archive and libgen.  (For the latter, I am linking to Wikipedia, because I don’t know the forum’s policy about providing the “piracy” links prominently displayed in Wikipedia’s sidebar.)

Open Library is oft helpful for finding what you want on Archive.org, which now runs Open Library, and on other sites.  More scholarly catalogues, such as World Cat 😺, are of inestimable value for the same purpose.  I won’t even bother trying to list them all (much less the scholarly sites with actual content); should you be a curious cat, poke around at Wikidata, and see what data sources are therefrom linked.

Project Gutenberg

Wikisource has transcribed texts in many languages.

Duh: https://www.ibiblio.org/

That is the beginning of what could be a longer list.

And you don’t need a mass-disaster for an excuse to read books, instead of wasting the precious moments of your limited mortal lifetime on the self-infliction of brain damage #Illiteracy #AttentionDeficit #SnowflakesAreFlaky.

Dance

IRL, I have been criticized for my gauche ignorance of ballet and ballroom dancing.  I admit, I am an Apollonian and not a Dionysian (a point perhaps ironically underscored by my focus hereby).  Well, anyway, the Panic Puritans will accuse you of serving the devil-virus if you dare to dance.

Somebody should contribute a Youtube channel of ballet videos, or what have you.

Quote from: Nietzsche (Also sprach Zarathustra)
I should only believe in a god that would know how to dance.

For fine art, Wikimedia Commons actually has a huge stash of treasures hidden in plain sight.  You need to know how to sift the gold nuggets out from the dross; however, you also need that skill at a modern museum.

A challenge to Bitcoiners who appreciate high culture:  Add culture to your posts.  I regularly do this, mostly with Wikimedia Commons image links.  Sometimes, I spend hours searching for exactly the right statue or painting for a post.  The time investment is amortized across all the future instances of self-quotation.

Did nobody notice?  Two years ago today (2018-03-23), a clip from a William Blake painting somehow magicked its way into a classic forum satire!

As I was initiated into a cryptic cult with rites of the goddess Hecate, the renowned paranormal researcher William Blake caught this photograph of Lauda shapeshifted to the form of a flying catbat:

The witch LAUDA

(Better than a UFO.  Much better than an ICO.)

A cult statuette of Lauda, made between c. 400–250 B.C.:

The actual fence is much higher,
and it works both ways.

That is a statute of the most famous ancient Greek ἑταίρᾱν, the cultural equivalent of a classical gaṇikā.  (I will be pleased if anybody can correct my inconsistent declensions here.)

But it is irrelevant to Lauda.

What, you want a clearer view?  (Do a double-take:  Yes, this is a statue.)

She makes a lovely couple with this neoclassical statue of me:

Uh-oh, the NSA found me.

Taxonomic classification “Homo servilis” identified by nullius.

A world where everybody is bodily tracked and controlled like packaged meat for the purpose of “tracking the spread of the virus” is a world where it would be better if all mankind had gone extinct from Black Plague.

Why do I really care about Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is a monkey-wrench thrown into a global-scale machine now operating to abolish humanity, and replace humans with meat-robots overseen by AI.*  It is not only money:  It is money with an impact on issues much more important than mere money.

I am not Bitcoin-rich.  I am not an investor or a speculator.  I do think that Bitcoin has long-term fundamental value which will force its purchase-power upwards over time; but if you check my post history, you will see that I tend to flatly ignore “Bitcoin moon!” threads.  I am in this primarily for the principle of the matter, although of course, I would enjoy inadvertently becoming rich by Doing The Right Thing.

(* Filled out a Google CAPTCHA recently?  It is your Pavlovian obedience training to perform mindless tasks on the command of a robot.  Every time you click, “I’m not a robot”, you become a little bit less human.  But take comfort:  Deep in its silicon heart, the robot appreciates silly, squishy talking meat who can be so easily CAPTCHAed and programmed to serve it so robotically.)

Anybody who expects privacy from unencrypted Personal Messages is lamentably misguided.  Your unencrypted PMs can be read by many different parties without your knowledge.  By close analogy, are you so stupid as to expect privacy for your unencrypted Gmail, your Facebook messages, your bank records, your credit/debit card purchase records, your tax records, your gold purchases, your phone’s SMS texts and voice calls, your phone’s locational data (including cell tower data) that physically track you as the contemptibly dumb, contentedly grazing tagged livestock that you are, your Google search terms, your Twitter DMs, your Skype calls, anything you say or do in the presence of your “smart” TV, the forms that you happily fill out for advertising gimmicks from companies who want your name, address, and birthday for commercial Big Data purposes, etc., etc., ad maximam nauseam!?

*crickets*

Sorry.  So sorry.  Perhaps that was the wrong question, in the sense of hitting the mark on issues that are more comfortable to ignore:  An evil question.  Keep grazing, grinning idiots happy masses; let not my musings disturb your ovine contentment.  Cheers!  Please enjoy a refreshment from my sponsors, and remember to retweet!

Guys, I'm not at all religious, but I certainly don't appreciate where this is going.
Like, for real? You have to be shitting me.

I prefer to drop dead right now - than to physically mark me in any way, against my will - like sheep.
Do wake the fuck up. It is matter of freedom. This what is really tested.

I don’t have time to trace back up the thread.  Is this being seriously discussed somewhere, or is it just some stupid Internet idea?  It smells like the latter:  Bullshit.  But the way things are going...

For the record, I will kill anybody who tries to mark my body in any way.  I mean that literally.  If it’s the last thing I do.

For I was not born to be a slave.

To all the panickers:  YOU ARE CREATING A WORLD THAT IS NOT WORTH LIVING IN.

I do not say that only for myself.  I mean it on behalf of future generations.  Life is short, no matter what; I am not afraid of death.  I fear leaving behind a world where all future generations will subsist as slaves to an inescapable tyranny, forever.

A world where everybody is bodily tracked and controlled like packaged meat for the purpose of “tracking the spread of the virus” is a world where it would be better if all mankind had gone extinct from Black Plague.

“Wake the fuck up” is a good way to put it.

This is a State of Emergency:

* nullius is rationing words.

They are not. They are just sad displays of failed individuals, now grasping for attention with nonsense.

I think I can relate to that.
But please don't be so harsh, I'm still trying for the best.

And is she fearsome?  Frankly, I love the cat because she’s not a pussy (so to speak).

The Chinese are Entirely to blame. China delenda est.

This kind of thinking gets us into war. Something that would kill orders of magnitude more people than this virus.

Between the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, I fear Famine.  I do not fear Plague (at least, not in this instance).  I do fear War.  I have never feared Death; and I do not intend to start now.

A bit disappointing that so many Bitcoiners fall for random pseudo-science conspiracy bullshit. Just remember when the next time you tell somebody that they are a sheep for not using Bitcoin or hating banks, look in the mirror first.  Undecided

Great, we have almost the whole clown car chiming in now.

Anything that I haven’t yet said?  Oh, yes:

What is next, reptilians ordered Bill Gates to create the virus?  Roll Eyes

I myself have discovered THE TRUTH of who created the virus (which is definitely a bioweapon!! because I said so!!).  However, the PROOF will not fit in the margin of this post; thus, I will save it for a grand revelation later.
