161  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dana thought he lost $80k one night and his advice for gamblers on: March 26, 2024, 03:02:35 PM
even when sober, a person needs to be careful when gambling, because he could gamble more than he can afford, especially when he is drunk, this should not be done because drunk people cannot think and tend to just play for their own pleasure. when someone is drunk, they will think that what they are doing is just having fun and they will not think that it could be a disaster for them.

and because of the dangers of gambling while intoxicated, one needs to limit themselves and not consume alcohol or anything that could impair their sobriety. because casinos will never forbid someone who is drunk from gambling, instead they support that person, because they think that it can give them money.

Casinos won't forbid someone who is drunk from gambling, but they'll do it instead if someone is lucid enough to find a way to win at their games. Nothing personal, only business.

But I remember a case that I read here some months ago about a drunk/drugged man who was arrested by the police because of an incident in a casino. You are allowed to drink to the point of losing your money, but not more Cheesy
162  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Minimum deposit on: March 26, 2024, 02:53:31 PM
I'm sorry moneystery, I thought that 0.000... BTC was dust, but at current prices you lost more than 20$ if I'm not wrong.

Won't they send your satoshis back to you? Aren't you allowed to send the difference in order to count as above the minimum?

I didn't know remitano before but I think that alastantiger's reply is right. However, there should be also a way to get your coins back in your case: 20-30$ are not the same for everybody.

164  Economy / Economics / Re: Does a place called Africa really Exist in the world Economy on: March 25, 2024, 06:18:55 AM
Infact our economies are so bad that we depends on European for help, this lead me to the question, does Africa really exist, infact the only thing still keeping Africa is the black skin that her population is known for
I have come to the realization that the highest level of colonisation is mental colonisation because Africa is like a computer program that is running

Guys what is your comment on this
maybe if people like you have a good mentality, part of African problem would have possibly be sorted out at ease. Just like every other continent of the world, we can't exist independent of ourselves. The world must exchange core moral values and culture for it to exist effectively. It's through that most European nation become civilized before us and that the level of technological advancement that's evident in their region is superb compared to what is predominant here but it's just a stage that we are currently working on.

Have you seen brilliant African guys that are doing great things with their skills and not complaining and speaking ills of her continent like you're currently doing? The African man has been so blessed with natural and mental resources that's not fully hearneese yet and we've got big businesses men that are doing well for themselves in the global stage. The world is designed in different context and maybe if you stand up from your complaints and sit your ass down to do the right things, it will go a long way in making Africa better than mere talking here and their.

Well that's not totally fair: brilliant African guys don't end working in big African companies but they emigrate to other countries looking for a better life, and that's also what the OP was complaining for. Answering the OP's question, Africa exists, but opportunities for the people are way less in the continent than outside, which doesn't help either.
165  Other / Off-topic / Re: Dont chase your loss on: March 25, 2024, 06:11:16 AM
Though gamble is basically a game of luck, and whether you win or loose is dependent on you r lick that day, even changing of strategy might not work especially, when you have the wrong sense of reasoning I'll just keep making the wrong decisions because you are desperate in making a win. However we say we gamble for fun right? If you change this mentally to gamble to make a living you might end up gambling more just to hit a target, but that is not a bad one if you have the right sense of reasoning and not let your current situation make decisions for you.

Easier said than done, but you're right. People shouldn't look at gambling as a source of income, but more as a hobby or expense. If their goal is to earn money chances are that it will go wrong and, if that happens, staking more in order to recover from the loss is the typical desperate behavior that may lead to even more frustration.

On the contrary, if they looked at it as just a game, it would be more difficult for them to make unreasonable decisions, even when they lost.
166  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you think merit is by chance or lengthy article? on: March 25, 2024, 06:02:24 AM
I disagree, there's no criteria or requirement in order to earn merit, just like my post below, I only post two words + image and I got 5 merits so far.

Lengthy article only make your post high unlikely get deleted, but it's not related to merit.

Merit is just like a gift, don't expect anyone e.g. friends, girlfriend, parents etc will give you something on your birthday.

Oh well...

I agree: unless you wrote really bad or off-topic, if you participate in threads you find interesting, in the end you'll earn merits when you less expect it. No need to be Shakespeare here.

Members can also get a boost by participating in the various contests that are held in the forum from time to time (pie contest, pizza contest, pumpkin carving contest...), where the effort and love for Bitcoin are usually rewarded.
167  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your take? on: March 25, 2024, 05:55:28 AM
Betting or gambling is very hard to win but I'd better go for 5 odd with only 4 selections then stake higher rather than having more than 5 games and take low to win something big. To me the main reason why some gamblers don't win is because of greed, gamblers should try to not be greedy in selecting games.

Not a bad idea. Sometimes, It is better to have consistent small gains than always risking your money on an underdog. Most of the time, favorite teams always end up winning. So, If someone is regularly betting on underdogs with money line, they'd for sure having more losses than wins.
-snip-

Yes, they'll get more loses than wins, but wins will be greater than if someone is betting on top teams. A victory or a loss don't value the same, it depends on the odds, and the casino has already "discounted" any advantage from the team which is expected to win.
168  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: La delincuencia del siglo XXI trabaja en Bitcoins on: March 25, 2024, 05:45:22 AM
...

He ahí lo realmente brillante.

170  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where is the fun when you lose your money? on: March 24, 2024, 12:19:35 PM

This topic is for those who claim that gambling is for fun. I really wonder if it is fun for you to lose money. Gambling is about winning money. I’ve seen wealthy people gamble and stake high and trust me, they don’t wish to lose and wouldn’t smile about it if they lost. They gamble to win money and it adds to their pride. It’s not much different for other gamblers. You can have fun gambling when you’re winning. But gambling is for winning no body wants to lose.

Answering to the question in the OP and replying to this, I think that the key is the fun in the moment before you know the result. Winning is of course a cause of joy, but the dopamine released in the brain when you are waiting for the outcome is the real source of fun IMO, and which makes it worth suffering when you lose.

Of course, nobody has fun when they lose. Perhaps the most masochistic individuals.
171  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stop gambling if you don’t have free time to do it on: March 24, 2024, 12:13:13 PM
Not just your life but it can cause disaster to your job too because if you gamble and the outcome is bad while you’re at work, it will affect your mood and that’s interconnected with your ability to work properly. I’ve said it before, there is no need to gamble at work. Just do it when you get back home and you are even more relaxed. Because pressure at work can make you pick the wrong games.

And not only in his case because he gambles until midnight: some people gamble at work, which is definitely more serious, as it really doesn't let you concentrate.

Having too much time to gamble isn't good either. The dose makes the poison, and in gambling the dose is measured in time, so better be entertained with other things too, and if it is a job, even better.

Count me in with this Filipino translation. I will update you once the translation has been done.

Great job Peanutswar! Great job as always! Please do not forget to announce the translation is finished also inside fillippone's thread, thus he will be aware of that and add it to his OP.
Other than that, let's also kindly ask Porf to add yout translation to our OP as well... Smiley

Translation added. Thanks to both of you!

Out of the three topics I proposed to translate a few days ago, as Gazeta suggested, let's add Recovering hacked/lost accounts by theymos to the list of ongoing translations. After being doing such difficult ones, this will be very easy Wink
175  Economy / Services / Re: [OFNT] [AOBT] The Alliance Of Bitcointalk Translators on: March 23, 2024, 12:36:36 PM
after finishing the german translation of Debunking the "Bitcoin is an environmental disaster" argument a few days ago, the polish translation of fillippone's topic has been finished today and can be presented to the polish community under the link below:

Obalenie argumentu "Bitcoin to katastrofa dla środowiska"

You guys are doing a terrific job.
While I have been lagging behind.
I promise to update my thread ASAP; a lot of your translations are still missing from the main summary in the OP.
Sorry for disrespecting your work.

Thanks for the cheering fillippone Smiley it's a great honor coming from you. No need to apologise and do not hurry: anyone who has been in this forum for a while knows that you are a busy man and that's very respectable.

Congratulations for your work, cygan!! these difficult translations are already a challenge for anyone, and you always do twice as much as everyone else. My hat's off to you.

177  Economy / Economics / Re: Ignore Financial accountability to your detriment on: March 22, 2024, 06:09:56 AM
Thank you for the reminder OP. I don't know how common it is in real life, but every time I see a tv programme on how to manage family funds, the cases are really incredible, especially those from the USA. Those people don't save, they spend all the money they earn and, even worse, they get credit as if there were no tomorrow.

I can't understand that mindset, maybe because I grew in an environment that encourages accountability and they didn't. What do you think? are these cases so unusual, or are they really that common?
178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: brazil sanctioned law that taxes online betting in the country on: March 22, 2024, 06:00:56 AM
What do you think of this? Is there any regulation in the betting sector in your country?
The gambling sector in my country is regulated and gamblers also pay tax. But the difference is that you can fill your gamble losses as expenditure and get tax reductions. The government shouldn't only gain from tax will they will not also partake of the losses.

Yes, same here (Spain), but the rate is also higher than what the OP said for Brazil (ranges from 20% to 25% here).

If the OP is a gambler, I'm sorry to hear that from now on he will have to pay if he is successful if he was used to don't care about it. Financial management of gamblers is always hard, and having to add this new requirement to the equation complicates things even more.
179  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Spending extra to keep my assets out of trouble on: March 22, 2024, 05:53:24 AM
You only took wise steps for the token swap, and that's what an experienced crypto user would do for the safety of their asset. Anything that relates to the connection of a wallet is not 100% safe because there could be some attack that can cause the loss of all the assets in that wallet. One of my friends has been in a situation where his wallet was compromised due to connecting to a different website and Dex. Anytime he sends some valuable coins into that wallet, they automatically get moved to an unknown wallet. It's better to take this kind of step and lose some gas than to connect one's hardware wallet online, while the wallet holds all your valuable assets.

I would better day that that's what an experienced crypto user "should" do, but I think that a percentage of them would still fall in the trap, for what and for saving 24 bucks in gas.

Chances are that nothing happen: the project (I don't know about it) may be legit and chances are that nothing happens if you connect the wallet in this case, but as a safe practice it should be a no-go, just in case.
180  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: Bit2me denuncia publicamente que la CNMV les tiene enfilados on: March 22, 2024, 05:47:35 AM
<…>
