821  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Buying a house with 100% Bitcoin is possible in Portugal on: October 18, 2023, 01:40:43 PM
This is excellent news. I had already heard that Portugal is a bitcoin friendly nation but I didn't know that you can even purhase y a house with BTC.

It is, indeed, but if I'm not wrong some of the crypto benefits for foreigners who move there will end in 2024, so it seems that it is becoming little by little a not so friendly country, due to impositions from Europe.

Anyway, as long as I know, you'll be still able to buy a house in Portugal, after paying the corresponding taxes, of course.
822  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cockfighting? on: October 18, 2023, 05:26:36 AM

Well the fact that there is already plenty of animal cruelty does not seem like a good argument to further encourage more animal cruelty in my humble view. Traditions are often cruel, but, you see, the uses of humanity change with time: witches were burnt, people crucified and newborns given to the wolves, not to mention the Aztecs killing humans for the gods. There is no need to continue things that one thinks wrong.

I agree paxmao: the uses of humanity change over time. Here in Spain a new law has just been approved, called "Animal welfare law". With absurd clauses like a mandatory course for everyone who wants to have a dog, mandatory insurance, or the use of animals totally forbidden in circus, it seems that the prohibition of bets linked to animal fighting is the most reasonable novelty.

And yet bullfighting is the exception and it's still allowed Roll Eyes

a dozen eggs costs 8 or 9$ so it is impossible to live like that
Instead of cloud mining, it sounds like you need some chickens.

LMAO!!

Well, it is not fun, I visited Cuba several years ago and I know that it is true. The fact that there are few chickens in the island, importations are restricted, and the Government give a few to each citizen every month make remaining eggs surprisingly expensive and only affordable for tourists.

I want to clarify something in this forum, because I see that it is something very serious, I am realizing that 90% of the world population is unaware of the reality of Cuba, the government shows exchange rates that are not real, those numbers are only possible. For the foreigner or tourist who is visiting and can buy things in Cuban pesos, in reality for us each USD costs us 250 pesos, therefore do the respective calculations, NOTHING or NO information that the government shows to the world is REAL, just show something beautiful, a mirage, we Cubans live in a parallel universe, I'm not saying that, you can go to any other chat and talk to a Cuban so they can see the harsh reality we go through. Here I leave you a YouTube video about some of the money in my country: the bad thing is that it is in Spanish, I will look for some in English

This is also true: there are extremely different exchange rates for Cuban pesos (for citizens) and USD pegged pesos (for foreigners); 1 to 250 is not what I saw when I was there, but in the last years thing may have worsen to that extent.

Q) ¿O me equivoco?

825  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lotteries and possibility vs. probability on: October 17, 2023, 02:09:43 PM
Lotteries are indeed probabilistic in nature. There is ideally no guarantee and one of the biggest motivators is the evidence of one who has won and then the dream of winning sets in.

Often times people tend to dream beyond the point of seen evidence and imagined even more, this makes them damn whatever probability exists and face the possibility, when the equation is actually on the reverse.

We also cannot overemphasize the need for people to know that probabilistic systems involve a high degree of quantitative information and high degree of uncertainty.

We could call it "faith" when people dream beyond seen evidence, and although it's not anything quantitative, we must agree that it has great value (in terms of power if we talk about religious faith, and in terms of money if we look at the figures spent in national lotteries). I am myself a "believer" in the latter, and I hope (but I don't really expect) to let you all know soon that I retired early because of several millions won after guessing the lucky numbers Wink and I still know that it is more probable to be hit by a lightning twice before it happens, but fortunately my bias is strong enough to make me quite happy in exchange of only 1€ at a time (not even weekly).

827  Other / Meta / Re: Suspicious link deleted on: October 17, 2023, 05:09:45 AM
I personally prefer the option where "suspicious" links are tagged and/or deleted, instead of the other one. Although I'd say that the average user in this forum is more educated that in social media and, why not, other forums, especially if we talk about cryptos, there are still many untrustworthy users who spam or directly spread straight scams. And taking into account that there are also many newbies that have to be protected (and not so newbies, because all of us can fall in such traps eventually), the little struggles are justified by the security in these particular cases.
828  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you think about trading feature? on: October 17, 2023, 05:00:25 AM

Do you think this game gives us some advantage/edge to casino? Because most of the time, prices tend to Follow a repeating pattern like Up-Down Up-Down in a range.
A quick reminder to nobody specific; you can never have or be given an edge over the house. Don't get it twisted it has always been about the house over us.
-snip-

This is still gambling albeit that it has somewhat trading features if am to play I will maintain a gambling mindset towards it because that's what it is and nothing like doing trading about it. I'll consider this development in gambling as an amusement trading experience a more fascinating way to keep the fun going.

You're right, but we should take into account that in the case of exchanges it is the same: you have to pay trading fees, and also fees to withdraw. I would like to compare the probabilities to either win or lose in both betting and exchange platforms, but it is impossible to generalise due to the very different tiers and conditions between different services. So just a friendly reminder, again, that trading is not investing, but another way of gambling.
829  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Government job or private job? on: October 17, 2023, 04:52:08 AM
Depends on the context of your country and it's economy, to be honest.
There are countries where people would rather to work for a private company and others where a work with the government is more appealing.

I have received some offers from both, but it is very situational what you will choose here in this country. Private companies offer a better salary, but their schedules are very grinding and can mess with the health of people. Government jobs tend to be more lax, pay less but you got more time to do your own things.

Depending on what  our needs are, we will end up choosing one.

Also, I have always wondered who good is to work for the government in countries like the United States and Europe. I assume salaries are better than average.

As you said, it depends on the context of the country, and answering your question, in Spain, and I think that in Europe in general, the average salary working for the Government is much higher in almost all levels (except for Chiefs, due to do the imbalance in the private sector because of greed, and the vocation of public service in the public sector).

Of course, there are exceptions, but functionaries are known in general to have a better quality of life. That's why some of the most prepared ones study for months or years for the official exam, and that's why it's said that access to these jobs is based on merit and capacity, and not on how you present yourself, as the OP said very well for the private companies.
830  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you think about trading feature? on: October 16, 2023, 02:17:49 PM
I've considered trading a way of gambling for quite some time now, especially when we talk about futures or intra-day trading, so I think that the target already exists as users in the exchanges. On the other hand, taking into account that the current users of crypto casinos are already familiar with cryptos (obvious) and many of them also like trading, I think that this hybrid can be successful, so chances are that we see this kind of games soon in other betting platforms too.

831  Economy / Services / Re: [OFNT] [AOBT] The Alliance Of Bitcointalk Translators on: October 16, 2023, 02:09:02 PM
Hey Porf, please be aware that an Urdu translation has been provided for Campaign to improve posting quality for local boards. The translation was made by someone which is not part of AOBT -- HONDACD125 -- but I believe it can be mentioned in our topic. The Urdu translation can be found here: پوسٹ کے معیار کو بڑھانے کے لیے مہمات.

I hope that this will give more courage to others to try to work on this translation.

Thank you Gazeta, translation added to the list. I wrote URD in the link, if it is preferable to use PAK or a different abbreviation let me know and I'll correct it.

just my 2 satoshis Smiley

It is indeed very difficult to stay up to date with the translations, maybe it would also work like this, the creator of the original post announces the change here in the thread and in the second post after the translations the latest version date is added at the end?

At the end, for example, "last change on 16.10.2023".

That's very helpful and it's good to remember it from time to time.

Letting us know here when changes have been done saves us from having to continuously check for updates, and it can be done by the original topic's OP, any member of the Alliance who notices it, or any member of the forum in general.

About the "last change", however, I don't think it is necessary, because anyone can easily see the date of last edition on top of the post. But it can be a good way to highlight that changes have been made.

<...>

My advice will be for you to keep up saving that $12 gradually and as you are saving along the line take some course and learn trading, to me this is how to be financially free and trust me you will thank yourself for learning how to trade in the journey.

I would like to know how you can save anything with a daily salary of 40 cents. If he wants to save, he needs income first.

And the advice about trading is not any better: trading is straight gambling, and I don't think that he is in a position where gambling is a good idea (again, that's only an option when you have income and some spare money).

CryptoDeivid, it is true that signature campaigns can give you as much as much as 12 dollars a day, bit it will take you several months or a few years to get there. You can try and join different altcoin campaigns in the meantime: expect zero payment in many cases, but I think that a few ones that pay will make worth the effort, especially when just a few bucks are so valuable in your situation.

835  Economy / Economics / Re: The economics of war. How does this affect us all especially us in crypto? on: October 15, 2023, 10:22:27 AM
I recently read in the news that Russia, on the eve of the Hamas attack on Israel, transferred over $80 million in cryptocurrency to Hamas cryptocurrency wallets. In addition to the fact that this indicates Russia’s support for this terrorist formation in its war against Israel, the state and, first of all, the countries of Europe and the United States will most likely be forced to respond to this fact by introducing stricter regulation of the circulation of cryptocurrency and, above all, in relation to cryptocurrencies with a high degree of anonymity.

The war between Hamas and Israel threatens to escalate into a military confrontation involving many countries. This is definitely bad for cryptocurrency.

After writing this post, I discovered confirmation of this proposal.

https://www.unian.net/world/v-ssha-sobirayusya-prekratit-vozmozhnost-finansirovat-hamas-s-pomoshchyu-kriptovalyuty-12424515.html

In addition, there is already information that it was Russia that "worked on the project" of transferring to its brother Hamas, weapons that were seized on the territory of Ukraine, in order to create the appearance of "uncontrolled spread of military aid to Ukraine".
There are already a lot of recordings in the public domain, where among the cries of Hamas terrorists one can clearly hear the cries of Russian "consultants" - "withdraw, cover, ....".
Next week there will be interesting information about the investigation into the interaction between the Kremlin and Hamas leaders, funding of technical assistance... Israel and the US will not keep quiet this time and the world will soon find out who is the mother of world terrorism.

-snip-

I wasn't aware of this news, but it is terrible! Many Western governments are eager to control every single transaction with the excuse of money laundering and financiation of terrorism. The first one seemed to work, while the second one started to sound like an excuse for control. But now, if what you say is true, they'll have the perfect argument to make every hodler look guilty until proven otherwise. Expect KYC everywhere for everything related to crypto Sad

I guess using the right align tag is enough like what @digaran said?
Code:

Ex.
Good morning!

Or does Urdo writing goes like this
!morning Good
If it's the latter, i guess you need to use a keyboard in mobile and an extension in desktop mode to be able to come up like this writing.

I don't know, maybe someone can enlighten me between the two examples.

I think this works, for reading the post after it is created. But the OP's problem is that when he is writing the post, he will always write from left to right.
Well, that's what I understood, but I could be wrong.

This can only be resolved with some type of adjustment in the text editor. I don't know if our friend @PowerGlove has any idea how to solve it.

Just in case, I'm summoning another friend: maybe @Kavelj22 can help too. He has experience translating texts from English (left to right) into Arabic (right to left) so he may know the most convenient way to do it, if you have problem to choose between different available methods.
838  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lotteries and possibility vs. probability on: October 15, 2023, 10:01:09 AM
But actually buying more lottery tickets doesn't mean it will increase your chances of winning or even getting the jackpot because it all depends on the luck of each gambler and many gamblers have managed to win just by buying one or two lottery tickets.
Thinking of buying more tickets is wrong decision and anyone can become challenged and then use all the money to buy lottery tickets.

If you are chasing the jackpot then it is better to always buy the same numbers every time so sooner or later you will definitely come out and be able to win it and several people have proven that this method is effective enough to win.
But still as I said sooner or later there is no definite time when these numbers will actually come out.

Togel is complicated bet and not single gambler has been able to solve the lottery number algorithm so it is natural that lottery bet winners often use their winnings just for fun because I also understand how they feel when they win.
Buying lottery tickets does not increase your chances of winning. But people still think that way and buy lottery tickets in large quantities. They think and hope that a large number of tickets can help them win the jackpot because with a large number of lottery tickets, there is a possibility that one of the lottery tickets will come out as the winner, even though that's not how it works because to be a winner of the lottery you have to have luck in getting rid of all your competitors. That could be wrong, but not so for people who are used to buying lottery tickets. They will buy more lottery tickets.

Chasing the jackpot is very difficult and only a few people can win the jackpot. We must be able to buy tickets with the same number because many people also have the same wishes as us. But they should buy random numbers because we will never know which number will be the winner. And if we can buy that random number, we can be the lottery winner. But be careful in buying those lottery tickets because they can cost you a lot of money.

It's better to use the lottery as entertainment and only buy enough lottery tickets so we don't use too much money. Indeed, many people keep buying lottery tickets but have yet to manage to win.

About the first idea, buying more tickets gives you more probabilities to win (in fact, buying two tickets gives you exactly double the probabilities compared to having bought only one). So, although in the end you are right that it doesn't make sense to buy many tickets, the reasoning behind it is wrong.

On the other hand, about always buying the same numbers as a method proven to be effective enough to win...  Roll Eyes I'm sorry to tell you that ethereumhunter is right and random numbers have the same probability to win. In fact, by buying random numbers you avoid falling into magical thinking, and keep your mind cold.
839  Economy / Economics / Re: Early Retirement [Pros and Cons] on: October 14, 2023, 07:48:36 PM
this story is the same as what my cousin experienced, he retired early (at the age of around 35 years) now he is around 45 years old but there is an illness he is suffering from and he has to get proper treatment which quite expensive, so he sold some of his valuables and also withdrew his investment in shares.
as long as you can still make money, don't even think about retiring early, I know early retirement is everyone's dream but who knows what will happen next, you have to maintain your grades and productivity so that you stay healthy and respected by people.
I have also a friend that has aged 30+ and he got early retirement from the Armed Forces, he has a total of 12+ years of his job. But he took retirement very early, now he doesn't have any job and the pension which is issued by the government to him is very less and he cannot afford even his children's school fees. So, I have taken a lesson from his early retirement that early retirement is not a good idea, but If a person has some other business then it would be better for him. Otherwise without any other way of earning, taking retirement may lead to economic problems.

Wow! the cases you are describing are quite hardcore, and I agree that the thirties are not a good age to retire early. But I don't think the same for other ranges of age.

In my work there is a colleague that is in his sixties and just decided to quit early. That will suppose a big discount in his retirement pension, and many told him that he is mad, but he wants to enjoy the good years left, and I respect that. In Spain the retirement age is 67, and increasing, and some of us won't get to that age, so early retirement can be a wise decision in some cases.
840  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lotteries and possibility vs. probability on: October 14, 2023, 03:23:07 PM
Every gambler know these option are very tough to predict 100% right. But you know every time high odds didn’t win the game. But i believe possibility Every single betting.
Playing and believing is possibility in every single bet which is 0-1 chance of winning is just like relaying on luck to win your game, and this is what the slot game have mostly be about, we can never be too sure of the game and our winning chances because we don’t know what might be the outcome of then next game, since their is no special skill needed which a gambler can use to make his game prediction. Slot game are just mostly for those who just want to play game base on luck or those who just don’t have time to go through matches from previous game to make their predictions, as slot game might appear to be the easiest and sometimes they think it give them a higher chance of winning big amount with small wager amount than any other betting option will give them due to low odd.

And, even with slots, there is the belief that the game follows some kind of recognizable pattern that some "hunters" try to predict. At least in my country it is said that the machine is "hot", as there was some kind of skill or way to control the outcome, and not pure chance. There is even an urban legend which states that some Chinese men take profit of that knowledge and make money from slot machines after other players "heated" them.
