541  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers trickily claims they wins the bet while they never did. on: December 23, 2023, 12:34:32 PM
Don't be deceived, not every gamblers who actually claims that they won really won.
Some falsefully speculates that they won just because they want to pave an ease to those who has been advising them to quit or limits gambling simply because the gambler has been unlucky to win instead he keep betting over and over without a good bankroll management in their gambling carriers.
They basically do this because they feels disturbed and inconveniences of the people's opinions and advices towards the gamblers unprofitable gambling experiences

I don't gamble like that here in crypto gambling, and even more so, I don't do that either. I only play gambling to pass the time, have fun, and forget about the problem for a while.

I use or do gambling only when I also have gambling. When I don't have a lot of money, I don't gamble; that's all I do. I'm not like others who try to get money just to gamble because they hope that they might get lucky with a small amount and get the jackpot.

Hey, good for you gunhell16, as this is how it should always be, but I'm not sure about what this has to do with the topic about people cheating about the result of their gambling activity.

I guess that, if you don't play with big gains in sight, you are less vulnerable to news about big jackpots that may be fake, but I don't think this is the most typical situation and, on the contrary, a high percentage of their audience will believe what these falsefully speculate. But again, if that is not your case, you're already lucky Smiley

I have also updated the list of AoBT members on [AOBT] The Alliance Of Bitcointalk Translators (Bahasa Indonesia).

Regarding the 2FA feature on Bitcointalk, we discussed it on the Indonesian local board, and I've posted how to use it:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5478851.msg63368620#msg63368620.

Thanks for the update Husna, a few changes must be done this weekend so we'll have to update it again soon, but it is better this way in the meantime.

About the 2FA feature, is your text original and is it also in English? I think that it is a very interesting topic to inform about the latest changes in the forum so we could propose it to be translated and posted in our local boards too. Please, let us know and, if not yet, as it is a short text, please, consider translating it into English too.
543  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do you lose on slots? on: December 23, 2023, 12:09:00 PM
I'm not really a fan of superstition so I don't agree that it helps you in a karma way to tip the people near you when you hit a win, all slots are programmed to do the same thing and the probability that they have in there are all the same, unless the machine Gods and machine spirit is real, then those stuff can't be true about slots and if they're true then you're still fucked because you're the unlucky one.
-snip-

I learnt yesterday that the governments set the rules about the requisites, limits, etc. that gambling machines must respect in the territory. So, apart from Gods and owners/manufacturers, politicians have something to say too about the probabilities for you to win.

Of course, online the frontiers are blurred so online casinos have more freedom than the owners of the physical machines we see in taverns and casinos, but after knowing all that, and how these machines are programmed, it is harder to believe in superstitions.
544  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: STOP! Before you become a prey of a scammer! on: December 22, 2023, 03:17:02 PM
It's best to stick to what you are doing and avoid any unnecessary chats with crypto strangers.
That we would eliminate half of the scams approaching us. Also, we have to stay with the trend and keep reading news.
By doing that we can stay up to date with latest scams and hacks. Yes, we have to do our due diligence to save ourselves from scams.

What you suggest is so easy to do, so effective to avoid being scammed, and still so hard for many people...
We like when people tell us things we want to hear, but scammers know it and they will use it against us, so it is a good policy to not answer to unknown people, especially if they want to make you an unsolicited favor. They are ubiquitous in Telegram, Twitter... even in WhatsApp lately (where the hell did they get my personal phone number? damn leaks).

We all want to know new people in the cryptosphere, especially when we are new and want to find your place, but especially in that case one should be the one contacting interesting people, and not the other way around.

Oh no. I didn't get any notifications from this thread until now. I don't know when Hatchy posted that.
He probably edited that later, which is the reason I didn't get a notification. Otherwise, The translation could have been ready now.

Anyway, I will start translating tomorrow.

I'm glad to know that you're happy as a member of the gang, and it is a pleasure to invite motivated members like you. Keep up the good work! And please, feel free to ask any doubts you may have about the Alliance: a few times members duplicated tasks and worked in vain, so make sure that you coordinate well with your colleague to avoid wasting unnecessary efforts.
546  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: STOP! Before you become a prey of a scammer! on: December 22, 2023, 06:21:09 AM
Wow! have you seen cases like that? People talk a lot about deep fake but afaik it is easy to detect whether a video is real or generated by a computer, looking at the detail (like something strange in the eyes, hair, ears...).

Porfirii, I don't know about him. But, believe me, I saw a casino ad this morning on Facebook, and I was laughing. Because It was Shakib Al Hasan's deep fake video where the voice was robotic. He was saying that Bangladesh gives a license to a casino to operate and he is the brand ambassador. I knew it's fake and I skipped it.

So you have seen this kind of ads already! well, it's good to know that we are not still in that point where we aren't able to differentiate what is real from what is fake. Thank you for your testimony, Learn Bitcoin.

In a few years, when Hollywood-like quality is available for every children in their personal computers, then we'll have to worry. In the meantime critical sense, attention to detail and not believing what sounds too good to be true are a good start to not fall in these fakes.
547  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do you lose on slots? on: December 22, 2023, 06:14:10 AM
<...>
I remember that, 15 years ago, when I played Second Life (beautiful memories) there were slot machines in some lands I frequently visited, and that I gave them a try. I think that they were badly programmed, because the more I played, the more I won, which is not sustainable for the service provider.

It is true that, as Lindens (the in-game currency) were difficult to buy at that time, I had just a few bucks, so I didn't make a great profit. Chances are that for higher amounts the outcome would've been different, or they were simply bad programmed. But it was a long time ago and I don't think modern slots online have that kind of flaws.
Wow, Second Life is that old? I just see their ads recently and didn't know that they're that old. Haven't played it long enough to explore it, just do some chats with other players and some trolling and that's about what I did there and finally just dropped playing it. That slot machine wins is definitely a programming bug, it's most likely as you've suspected.

Yes!! I remember playing it back in 2009, and I arrived very late to the game (some people who had played for years were already rich because of the rise in the price of the Linden, similar to Bitcoin, I always arrive late Cry). What you've seen is a revamp, the old game almost died when facebook got mainstream: more than half of the users were women who wanted to socialize onlineC and the rise of social media had a negative impact for the game.

That's what I think too, a programming bug; maybe it is more difficult to find one nowadays, but back these in days the resources were more limited and I guess that copy-pastes of reused code lead to these vulnerabilities.

One way or the other, and although I'm not a fan of slots in general, I had a good time back then.
-snip-
(...) Twinsen's Odyssey.

At some point in the game, there was a casino in an alien planet ran by aligators. Cheesy

-snip-

For a 90's game, it was and still is much better than many of the games developed in our currently days.

This is great! thank you for sharing the screenshots, it reminds me more like Habbo Hotel rather than Second Life, but the idea of a casino inside of a game is the same.

Let me search in my old computer, maybe I have screenshots too from that time, although I doubt that I will find one of the machines I mentioned.
548  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers trickily claims they wins the bet while they never did. on: December 22, 2023, 06:02:35 AM

But that's what happens nowadays in social media for example, where people just show what they want and it seems that them all have perfect lives although they don't.

The only way not to fall in these mirages is to think critically and be aware that it is not gold all that glitters.

Yes, that's how humans are, sometimes their lives don't match what they say or show to the public. For example, a public figure creates content on social media so that many people see and like their daily activities and they will make a profit there. that's clear.

There are even those who imitate the lives of these public figures in order to appear special or attractive in the eyes of other people, even though this is clearly still doubtful. Therefore, it's a good idea not to force things that we really can't do, so that we don't get trapped in complicated conditions and even get into lots of problems.

Getting trapped into their own traps is a risk that all these people has to accept, and many end up believing their own character, to realize later that they weren't as perfect as they thought. But I think that this applies especially in different industries (beauty, lifestyle...) and not so much in gambling, where advertisers are usually aware of these and other tricks.

The main problem, IMO, is that the audience who consumes that content is often unaware of the reality behind the influencer's curtain (money for bets is not from his own pocket, he makes repetitions of the best moments so they seem more usual than they really are...); but you don't have to be a professional to do it either so, back to the topic, it also happens with friends, relatives, or colleagues from the forum, who can create false expectations in those who believe their false claims.
549  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance withdrawal fees are too high, what do I do? on: December 21, 2023, 03:02:42 PM
I'd like to add something that I didn't say before and I have just remembered. I don't know where the OP is living and the regulations there, but there is something apart from the technicalities of the blockchain that should be taken into account in the case he wants to swap his coins, and that's whether it can be considered a taxable event or not.

In most jurisdictions, when you simply withdraw or move your coins to a different wallet you are not performing any taxable event (except for the fees?), but in some countries the act of swapping could trigger the obligation to declare income in 2023. In others, like Germany or Portugal, if I'm not wrong, it would reset the time needed for completing a year, deadline date from which the initial purchase is no longer considered short term investment.

Chances are that you live in a jurisdiction like the latter, and you want to think it twice before swapping your coins. Please, let us know.

552  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers trickily claims they wins the bet while they never did. on: December 21, 2023, 06:14:07 AM
Honestly, dude, I don't get what you want to point out in the topic you have made, as long as I understand that whatever the gamblers do in a casino here in the crypto space, whether they win or lose, the important thing is that it gave or brought them joy.

And there are others who gamble because they treat this as their own job or source of profit. So, they value every bet they make because they can expect the earnings or quota they need at the end of the day.

You are right, but the OP also, as he is talking about something completely different. Some kind of people have the need to make you think that they are winners, even when it is not true (they lost their money betting despite your advice, but they say they won only to be able to say "I was right").

That's problematic in a public forum where people is anonymous. Newbies could read about people who won a lot of money which is not true, and make a false representation of the real chances. But that's what happens nowadays in social media for example, where people just show what they want and it seems that them all have perfect lives although they don't.

The only way not to fall in these mirages is to think critically and be aware that it is not gold all that glitters.

554  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance withdrawal fees are too high, what do I do? on: December 21, 2023, 05:53:09 AM
Yes, the problem is not only with Binance, but spreads to all the network. The fees that are being paid these days are crazy: I made a transactions a few days ago with low fees because I wasn't in a hurry (estimate time 15h) but there are people paying more than 200 times that fee, which is crazy. Anybody knows what is the cause for this? People is withdrawing to buy Christmas presents? are they putting their books in order because of the end of the fiscal year in many countries?

OP, if you are not in a hurry and you've had your coins there until now, if you wait a few days I think that fees will go back to the normality. If not, I'd heed the advice about the stablecoin.
555  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has gambling ever whispered you with different strategic prediction measures? on: December 20, 2023, 03:01:04 PM
Since gambling is most based on luck, who else has ever wanted to set your eyes close while you hits the slot or taking your predictions with the believe that.... "Your eye sight has failed you in number of times at when believing that taking your time and plays according to your heart desired based on sights satisfactories was to be the best for you"
Then probably sometimes you want to try a new trick by closing your eyes while picking your predictions or hitting the slots.

Yes, that behavior is natural somehow to the human abstract thinking ability. I don't think animals can use such a magical thinking, but it is ubiquitous among us. Who, in the childhood (and after too), didn't think things like: if I guess x number, I'll pass tomorrow's exam? or... if the last petal x, then she loves me.

I used to think when I was a child that, if I watched a football match, then the result could be different from the one if I didn't watch it. There is no way to prove it, unless we go back in time and behave differently (if that was possible, I'd go back and buy more cheap Bitcoin instead, so I didn't waste the trip).

But being a natural behavior doesn't mean that it is true. You can think that there are divine forces that will help you if you perform a known action, but this thinking is not scientific, and eventually it can work against you if you continue making unreasonable decisions based on superstitions like these.

-snip-

In the current scenario when AI has the ability to swap face and make it sound like an original influencer or a celebrity talking. It is better to research before you invest to gain double or triple multiplier. The best you can do is to avoid them.

-snip-

Wow! have you seen cases like that? People talk a lot about deep fake but afaik it is easy to detect whether a video is real or generated by a computer, looking at the detail (like something strange in the eyes, hair, ears...).

Do you mean that the state of the art has developed so much that the new videos are indistinguishable from the original ones? or was it just a warning about what is to come? as if the use of the new technologies by scammers was not enough, it seems that security is a never ending unfinished business especially in crypto.

Beware, newbies, and not so newbies.
557  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to get 1 eth or 1 btc on: December 20, 2023, 06:05:24 AM
If you want to earn 2000 dollars or 41 thousand dollars from this forum then you may have to wait for a long time. First you need to increase the rank of your account, then you need to join a good quality signature campaign and think about how to increase the amount of payment that you will get from there. Far from spending, you just need to find ways to raise money. You can earn $2,000 if you get a chance to work on signature campaigns as a full member, but converting that $2,000 into $41,000 is very challenging and almost impossible to catch. Besides the forum you have to think outside the forum. If you have a good job then you will definitely get a good salary and you will have to convert a large part of that salary to bitcoin regularly but you can own one btc at a time.

It would be interesting to know what he wants the ETH or BTC for. If he wants it (them) for HODL, then it is OK and he has time to earn them; but if he wants them just to ride the wave and sell when they are high un order to make a profit, then the only way to get them in time would be by borrowing, and that's something that I completely advise against.

OP, what do you want them for and how long are you willing to wait for it? Of course, it is not the same to get one coin or the other, as one costs 20 times more than the other.
558  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: Buscando participantes P2P en Bolivia y Uruguay on: December 20, 2023, 05:57:51 AM

559  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do you lose on slots? on: December 20, 2023, 05:52:02 AM
I remember that, 15 years ago, when I played Second Life (beautiful memories) there were slot machines in some lands I frequently visited, and that I gave them a try. Maybe you were too lucky back then and didn't play for enough time until start losing, couldn't that be? Anyway, slot machines from video games are different from the real ones which are developed by professional companies which are on the gambling industry for lon periods of time.  At video games, programmers don't care too much about making the slot machine work precisely at tge house's favour, because the flux of money running is much less expressive than the one running at real casinos, where a single programming mistake can lead the house to potential losses around the mark of hundreds of thousands of dollars or even a million!

The only similar case of yours I've seen was at Play Store slots apps where we play only for fun, so the more we play, the more we win fake tokens used to open new slots' designs and themes. I believe that is a category of slots games for gamblers who have already hit their limit, and since they can't play for real anymore, they have to switch to a "sandbox" mode.

Maybe you are right and I didn't play as much as to experience the regression to the mean. Without more proof I'm afraid that I'll keep the doubt for all the life.

About the game itself, I'd always thought that the machines were owned by a gambling company, but chances are that the machines themselves were owned by the owner of the land, and odds were modified so you won a little more than the amount you played, just to make you stay on that land and improve the traffic stats. One way or the other, and although I'm not a fan of slots in general, I had a good time back then.

We have this Marketplace > Services were you can offer your work for Bitcoin and/or join different campaigns that pay in sats.

We also have this Marketplace (Altcoins) > Bounties (Altcoins) board where you can find campaigns which pay in ether, or in tokens that you (ideally) could swap into ETH.

There also exist other websites which are specific for tasks paid with cryptocurrencies. You'll easily find them just Googling. But if you're looking for more innovative ways to earn cryptos, then I think that this is something that you must figure out or invent yourself.
