Autor: CryptopreneurBrainboss
Hilo original: [Guide] Factors to consider before joining paid signature campaigns.

Pautas: Guide on avoid red tags by supporting already known scam projects

CM reputado: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature Anti-Spam Campaign Managers

783  Economy / Economics / Re: Almost All Countries Affected by Inflation, Opportunity for Bitcoin! on: October 28, 2023, 05:24:40 PM
If you spend your money, you lose it. If you save it, due to inflation, you also lose it. It is sad, but that's reality nowadays. In a country with a not so high inflation (not even in the list), a friend of mine is saving to buy a house, at a slower pace than the rise of prices, and the clock keeps ticking. I don't want to even think how Venezuelan and Argentinian citizens must feel.

Investing in crypto in general is high risk, and Bitcoin is not much different (it is safer, but still high risk), so I wouldn't recommend to do it as a way to make sure money. But with such high interest rates, the alternative of doing nothing is proven to be much riskier.

AoBTers, I would like to suggest a new topic to translate: 1miau's Trade vs. HODL - avoid traps. I think that it is short, east to translate, and can be helpful for many newbies who want to make money fast and are not well aware about the risks of trading. In addition, it has already been translated into a couple of languages.

Let me now what you think about it and if there is no objection I'll add it to the list in a few days.
785  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bull season started? on: October 27, 2023, 06:14:58 PM
I also believe that there won't be any more major corrections, but the halving and bull season are still quite far away, and I think there will be many shakes in the market to shake off the last weak hands.

We never know what will happen next, but I agree that most of us have probably believed that a major correction will not repeat itself for the rest of the year. I expect bitcoin to maintain its price above $30k until the end of the year and it will be even stronger if during November $40k is tested.

To me, halving is not so far away, and I have been waiting for a slight rise in price for the last few months (I'm more optimistic than Kelvinid and expect the rise to start before and not after the event).

It feels a bit different this time and I agree with ShowOff that, after having broken the 30K resistance again, I don't expect it to go below that point. Well, I didn't expect it the last time either, but halving is just a few months ahead, and IMO more and more people will be afraid of missing the train. At this stage there shouldn't be so many week hands left.
786  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lotteries and possibility vs. probability on: October 27, 2023, 05:57:24 PM
Doing that may drain us from engaging in more active and relevant discussions,  and to avoid that we need to focus more on the most relevant of them all which is proper money management.
It all adds up at the end of the day, a tree has many branches, and that is what makes it a tree, for without those branches, some may like refer to it as a stick.
So I guess you understand what I mean.

I think that you are both right. Coffee is anecdotical here, but it serves to compare the subjective value of a lottery ticket in comparison to a consumer good which costs more or less the same.

Recapping, I would say that the important thing is the reward we get from both items, and that reward is mostly subjective: those who like coffee value the taste, energy, etc. it provides, while those who don't like it see it as a waste that goes down the toilet; on the other hand, those who like lottery see it as a cheap way to dream, to keep hope on a dear life (possibility), while those who focus on the chances (probability) see it as a waste instead.

Fivestar4everMVP, who seems to share my point of view on the topic, even mentioned that he sees lottery as an investment. I wouldn't go so far either, although it is true to some extent, and prefer to see it as a consumption. I think that seeing it like this is a good strategy to avoid buying more tickets than those strictly necessary to keep dreaming, because in this game where probability is practically zero, more is less.
787  Economy / Economics / Re: if you think 18k btc is low wait until autumn ... on: October 27, 2023, 05:18:50 AM
if you think 18k btc is low wait until autumn ...

I think it will reach 500-1000 USD max as you can't use to sell stuff and big whales already moved their money ...

In 2019 btc was already 9000-10000 USD , do to pandemic people invested a lot  in btc.
-snip-

I think the likelyhood of you being hit by a meteor and killed tomorrow is almost
as likelyhood as a 500 usd price for btc in the fall of 2022.

So here's hoping that neither of the 2 happen.

Fortunately we did not drop under 15k and I am thinking the op was not stuck by a meteor. So all is well in the world.

So rough Cheesy

Everybody is free to speculate. The bad thing is that everything is recorded in the forum, so chances are that one's premonitions look ridiculous in retrospective.

A couple of friends I have told me months ago that Bitcoin was going to fall under 14k for sure, and that if price went below 9k, then we would test the 4k support. They were convinced about it, like if they talked about exact science. Fortunately we can say that both gurus were wrong so far, and with the new halving in sight I don't think that prices will fall so much in the near future. I won't talk about a longer period because I risk being quoted in the future if I'm wrong Tongue
788  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The fear of investment on: October 27, 2023, 05:02:34 AM
-snip-

I think the environment where one is actually staying also contributes to this fear because just the other I was actually explaining the basic essence of bitcoin to a friend and all he could even think of was that I want to basically scam him of his money of which he doesn’t even know that bitcoin is actually a currency on which people benefit wonderful opportunity like through savings.

Don't be sad: if he is your friend, knows you well, and didn't even listen to you, then he doesn't deserve the effort. Look at what Satoshi said: if he doesn't understand or believe you, you shouldn't have time to convince him either.

I stopped speaking to people about Bitcoin long time ago, because if the investment is bad it will be my fault, and if it is good they won't thank me. Nobody talked to me or "sold" me Bitcoin, I learnt about it on my own (in a high degree thanks to this forum). Those who want to know have good info available in the internet if they search, but those who don't won't listen even to a friend, so don't try to change them.

790  Economy / Economics / Re: World Debt Clock by nations. on: October 26, 2023, 02:10:05 PM
With a >135% public debt ratio, should I start thinking on moving from Spain? (definitely not to Portugal, with an even higher ratio...).

On the other hand, one could think that colours in the "Central Government Debt Map" are wrong: why is it worse blue or green than orange?

But taking these data alone we can't know the whole picture: debt is not desirable at first glance, but it can lead to growth in the mid term if the money is well used. You could prefer to have a loan to create your company rather than being jobless, so why would it be necessarily bad for a country to have (non-estructural, if you want) public debt?
791  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lotteries and possibility vs. probability on: October 26, 2023, 01:54:43 PM
It is just testing luck. There is no problem, when you have an opportunity to spend this $1. But if you have to choose to buy bread or lottery ticket - it is not a good time for testing luck.
And, the same time i don`t think that it is a clever decision to believe that you can become the winner between 10.000.000 people. I`d prefer to buy coffee.

Well, drinking coffee is another way to get your daily punch of dopamine, but I don't think that it is necessarily a more clever behavior than playing lotteries. If you only mentioned another food with a higher nutritional value...

In fact, even the homeless wouldn't notice any difference in most countries if he spent $1 once in a week or in a month, while the hope he can feel by playing can save him from a deeper depression or even suicide. Of course, in an extreme case anyone would choose bread before lottery, but do you still think that it is always better to buy coffee instead?
792  Economy / Economics / Re: The impact of war on global economy. on: October 26, 2023, 05:10:48 AM
Wars doesnt harm every country. i think some of the country gets benefited because of it.

If you are talking in terms of power and money, you may be right, but in terms of ethics and human rights I don't think it benefits anyone.

And, as we've seen with Covid-19, globalization has broken the natural boundaries that always existed between countries/continents, so nowadays any war impacts every country in some degree. I don't know where you live, but chances are that you have witnessed it yourself the last time you went to a supermarket.
793  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Security Should Be Your First Target as a Newbie on: October 26, 2023, 05:03:24 AM
Newbies should the develop proper security consciousness habits right from the time they have even as little as 100 satoshis. It will help them in the future as they accumulate more and more bitcoins at that time being security-conscious would be a second nature to them I need the would not fall victims easily when there is a security breach.

Here is a good place to start by looking at the Security and Privacy encyclopedia by OcTradism

some beginners I know actually keep their assets on exchanges. they buy it and leave it on the exchange. Those who don't really understand wallets and their security feel that just having a wallet like Trust Wallet is enough. that's what I see from some beginners around me.

For those who are familiar with this forum, you probably already know the important things they have to do to store Bitcoin and crypto assets in their wallet. even security for wallets is also studied so that the security system functions.

I don't think that one should start caring so much about security as soon as when they 100 sats, and IMO it is not such a sin for a newbie to have his coins deposited in exchanges. Learning is a curve that must be transited, one cannot simply jump to the top. So, if there are still veterans who deposit their savings in exchanges, why reprehend someone who has just started learning, when the risk is so low because of the value of his coins, and the potential lesson so valuable?
794  Local / Mercado y Economía / Re: Directiva (UE) 2023/2226 relativa a cooperación administrativa en fiscalidad on: October 26, 2023, 04:55:07 AM

795  Economy / Economics / Re: What does being rich mean in your perspective? on: October 25, 2023, 05:11:47 AM
I always prefer to stick with those less materialistic ways of defining richness. I'm a hypocrite if I don't admit that I'm running after money in one way or another, but I'm still convinced that beyond material possessions, it should be the genuine feeling of comfort and satisfaction that count more.

-snip-

I know of individuals who have much more money that many others but who cannot seem to stay at ease because they've got so much expenses and so much to buy. It seems they're living a poorer life than those who don't have much beyond their simple yet decent living but who are very much satisfied and can sleep soundly seconds after lying down.

I couldn't agree more with you. To me richness in life has to do with freedom, both financial but also mental. If you have millions but you have been educated to need more no matter how much you have, you will always be a slave.

On the other hand, happiness has to do with material resources, because the lack of them leads to suffering and both concepts are exclusive. But once you get enough to live (the base of Maslow's pyramid), it has more to do with your values and beliefs.
796  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lotteries and possibility vs. probability on: October 25, 2023, 05:00:40 AM
In fact, all the time one of the lottery participants repeats some of the same numbers and their sequences, for example, the date of one’s birth, this can be regarded as superstition.  But many people treat such superstition as a magic number that once was something memorable and significant for them.  And they constantly write the same numbers, believing that the probability of winning again from such a lucky number is higher.  But it is clear that this is not at all the case.

But still, most lottery players, it seems to me, still choose numbers quite randomly.  By the way, it’s interesting how these random numbers come to a person’s head, why are they exactly like that?

When it comes to repeating numbers, I have a real-life experience with that, one of my relatives plays the lottery on a daily basis. Just like what others do, she bet on the same number for almost 20 years I guess? those numbers came from her dream and believes that those are her lucky numbers but she never wins a single penny. I think, winning in the lottery is just pure luck because it doesn't require any gambling experience as long as you have money to buy tickets. Some people pick random numbers based on their birthdays, important dates of events, and based on their instincts.

My father used to play that way too: he had some lucky numbers he always bet on, as they were magical (in fact, one of them was the "magical" one, while others, multiples of it or containing it, were interchangeable). As you very well said, it has to do with superstition.

It makes no logical sense, but we still hear news from time to time about winners who played always the same numbers and eventually won (of course: if they didn't win there would be no news to talk about).
797  Local / Mercado y Economía / Re: Directiva (UE) 2023/2026 relativa a cooperación administrativa en fiscalidad on: October 25, 2023, 04:48:06 AM
<…>

798  Local / Mercado y Economía / Directiva (UE) 2023/2226 relativa a cooperación administrativa en fiscalidad on: October 24, 2023, 01:43:19 PM

799  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fake casino streamers! Why such streamers are very popular? on: October 24, 2023, 04:59:42 AM

The reason why they are so popular is, imo, a very well elaborated plan and design by their sponsors, and effective execution thanks to the resources that they have available. It's sad that many good professionals will desist early because the rules of the game are not the same for everyone.

There are big of money to be made from casino streaming so there are well-coordinated and elaborated plans to make things look real, It is already an open secret among old-timers here in the industry, we all know casinos pay people who will give them the most players and people love to watch live streams.

I'm not a fan of streamers, I already know that they are fake streamers before watching one and they are so good in their acting it's well-rehearsed and if you don't know the truth about this stuff you will end up saying, I need to play in that casino I could win that big amount or maybe even more.

We are all primates, aren't we? (sorry creationists). And if there is something primates do well is mimicking. So, if we see another member of our species doing this or that, our mirror neurons activate and we feel the urgency to do the same. Add to the mix the way they usually shout and we are transported back to the jungle.
