The conversion you quoted reminds me of the typical case when the developers of an altcoin (usually shitcoin) ask all holders to switch their coins to the new ones before certain date if they don't want to lose them all... It's impressive to see that it also happens in real countries in the world. About using Bitcoin, although others said that it is not a feasible solution, I think that it could work by using LN or a different scalability solution. 16M people are not so many, if they also use USD, GBP, Ruppee... and the other currencies mentioned above for day to day payments.

In Spanish we have a saying, and the translation would be something like: wise men are those who rectify.
On the other hand, some years ago I was told that the sooner you make a mistake, the better. In Europe in general we don't share the American spirit of failure: if you fail, people usually think that you are the failure, and that makes people not take risks for fear of discovering their ineptitude.
Outhue said it well: many people want to avoid failure, but that's the way.

Great efforts guys! Also, the PGP tutorial already has 3 translations and 2 more are in progress (the ones DrBeer will do in Russian and Urkainian), thus only 5 more will be needed. Sorry for being late guys been busy lately. Just finished my translation of [Android Tutorial] PGP Signature - Encrypt/Decrypt message by Learn Bitcoin. Here's the PIDGIN translation: [Android Tutorial] PGP Signature - Encrypt/Decrypt message demNot late at all Hatchy, it's just that on this occasion the other translators translated very quickly Thank you for your dedication. Eid Mubarak dear AOBT family. May this special occasion bring love, peace, and prosperity to all of our lives.🖤

Thank you DS! I also hope you a blessed festival ^^ It is curious that I knew a little bit about the feast after Ramadan, but not about this one which, as long as I understand, is a little bit like the New Year. I won't go to bed without knowing one more thing. Peace and love to you and your loved ones

Just last information from their telegram 🔥 Big news! We're thrilled to announce POKERFI as a PREMIUM GOLD SPONSOR for Web3Dubai! More information at their telegram https://t.me/PokerFiEnglishOfficialParticipation in such events allow to attract more attention to the casino and attract more users their. Here is an official website of the event in Dubai Pokerfi is in the Sponsors and Community tab https://web3dubai.io/More information can be found in their telegram. I can see their logo in the Community tab, but not among the Sponsors. Please prove me wrong. And it is not surprising because I guess that to become Sponsors they have to have a great reputation (Harvard University...) and/or pay an important sum of money. The idea is quite good, but I don't see how they could compete in the metaverse with well established poker companies; and the fact that the project has been dormant since 2021 may suggest that they simply want to take advantage of the bull run and nothing more. Time will tell.

First an overall comment on the situation - is this really a story about real gambling? I imagine whole situation to happen in a bar with pool tables in it. Something tells me that alcohol was involved in that story.
-snip-
And not only alcohol necessarily. We should know what really happened, because chances are that someone cheated, or felt cheated, or maybe they already had pending quarrels in advance, etc. But there may be a link between gambling and testosterone that could explain these (fortunately rare) events or why men gamble more than women, if it's not just for a cultural issue. I suppose there will be papers on this, but I don't think any solid scientific consensus have been reached so far about this topic.

I think games have become a part of our lives. The market and revenue performance of traditional games prove that chain games, as a part of games, have huge potential, but why is everyone’s attitude so negative?
-snip- Halving is approaching, all attention is focused on bitcoin and bitcoin-related projects such as bitcoin eco, BRC20... so other trends such as Gamefi, layer2...are temporarily forgotten. So you don't need to worry, have a long-term vision, invest for the long term, don't worry about what will happen in the short term. I bet you that when the price increase season comes and money pours into the Gamefi segment, it will not be too difficult for these projects to increase by x5-x10. Those who are saying that Gamefi, layer2...is dead and dying know nothing about what is going on in the market. Although the future is uncertain and things could go wrong, that's exactly what I was thinking before I read your answer. In the last few months we have seen a great surge in Bitcoin's (and also Ethereum's) price, but not so much (or not at all) in different alts because, as you said, the focus is on Bitcoin right now. If everything goes as expected, (months?) after the halving we could see a surge of the alts while the price of Bitcoin stagnates, like we saw in the past. I remember that a few weeks after the price of Bitcoin started to fall after the ATH in December 2017/January 2018, many altcoins kept pumping and hitting new records. I repeat: things could go wrong, don't invest what you can't afford to lose, but accumulation is not only happening with Gamefi but with altcoins in general, and it seems natural to me to a certain extent, so I think it is too early to anticipate catastrophic events.

Having the existing above mentioned existing or in pending translations, the following ones are still available:
There are two more translations I did a while ago. Bangla and Urdu are already available. Bangla Translation: PGP বাংলা - এনড্রয়েড ইউজারদের জন্য!Urdu Translation: PGP Tutorial for Android - In broken UrduThanks everyone for the translations. I do not have enough smerits to reward you guys You deserve another special mention Learn Bitcoin, because not only did you translate the thread into two different languages, but you also created it! I feel bad because I don't have enough smerits to reward you, but rest assured that with your positive attitude you won't lack merits in the future and you are one step away from becoming a legend Thank you Husna! with that one, we have reached ten translations (in record time!), so I'm moving it to FINISHED translations. Remaining languages are still welcome, of course.
Dear AoBTers: Although I edited the OP ten days ago to include our newest member Chilwell, I'm aware that I have to update it again with the newest stats of you all: some members are doing extraordinarily well and ranked up very fast, and it is important to show that info. But, as long as I have to do it manually and the process requires following many steps (visit every profile, edit manually every stat in a text editor, make screenshots, upload all images one by one...) I can't make these changes immediately like I do with the list of translations in the second post, so I ask you a little patience Once a month would be a good deadline IMO. Thanks for understanding.

But if the claw machine is like in the last screenshot (real money?), it can be categorized as gambling because there is cash involved there. Im still not sure whether its real money or play money that can be exchanged for gifts? If its play money, I dont think it can be categorized as gambling.
-snip-
There is a commonly shared definition of gambling, but even more important than that definition is the semantic field you personally link to that word. To me, everything that has to do with chance and money is a way of gambling. Trading is a way of gambling (unpopular opinion), hodling is a way of (long term) gambling, loots in video games that can be sold for real money are a way of gambling and, therefore, the machine in the last screenshot, as long as it is real money, is a clear way of gambling. And what about legacy claw machines? as long as the prize has nothing to do with money, it doesn't fully fall under my definition of gambling. But it is a game based on chance where you look for something you want... so, to me, we could say that it is some kind of semi-gambling, although not in the tradicional sense of the term.

I have received dust many times in the last years, mainly in addresses with positive balance (I don't check the empty ones often, so I don't know whether I receive something there). As far as I'm aware, that's not a big issue since there is no need to send dust in order to track the transactions from or to that address since the blockchain is public.
IMO, the moral should be keep things tidy, the same if you received dust or not. Although a single point of failure is enough to break your privacy, the more mistakes you make the more chances of being tracked and, eventually, attacked. So it is a good idea to create throw-away addresses while being aware that every time you consolidate you may be sharing too much info.

I have no time for that, if I lose then it's the same as throwing thrash to the garbage can and that will be forgotten forever. But I understand that many still that do track their progress to see if there's something good happening on them. With the losses that I am having, it's best to have it forgotten so that I can easily move on and that's the reason why I think that it's best to not to track my progress and most importantly, as long as I am not addicted then I am good.
I don't have any time to do that either. In fact, I don't track even my personal finances: I always follow my guts. I mean, I know what is right and what is wrong, and I try to act accordingly. No need to use a spreadsheet for that. That said, I know people who like following the track of every single expense, and back to gambling, I find it practical for who believe they should control their activity. This is not my case, I bet little and for fun, so there is no progress to track I guess.

Autor: Learn BitcoinHilo original: [Android Tutorial] PGP Signature - Encrypt/Decrypt message
¡Hola BitcoinTalk!

We will see the coexistence of both. While the digital upgrade is there but it won't stop the existence of the land or physical casinos because traditional never gets old or it does but gamblers will still find a way to experience the oldies but goodies way of gambling. Just think of it that even there have been a lot of online casinos out there, you, your family or even your gambling friends might just choose to stay at home but not to gamble online but to find a way for each of you to enjoy gambling altogether. You're seeing the difference why it's fun to stay with your friends and sometimes that's where it starts that one of your family will ask to go and pay some visit to the physical casinos.
Some traditional thing could be replace but not the way casino operates. They are divided with physical casino and online casino and the good thing is that not only they coexist, but they also grow together. Before the existence of online casino, only few are given an opportunity to gamble due to the limited numbers of a physical casino, but now that there are plenty of online casino especially the crypto casinos, gambling has become more popular, and it has continuesly benefited the physical casino. In short, online casino made the gambling industry more popular. Although I agree that they will grow together, I think that eventually there will be an overtaking of the digital platforms over land based casinos. As younger people, who by definition feel more comfortable in digital environments, grow up and choose online casinos thanks to the greater convenience they offer, we will see a paradigm shift. I don't mean that physical casinos are going to disappear, not even that they are going to lose business, but they will get a smaller share of a bigger market. Not to mention hybrid businesses that will take advantage of the best of both worlds (some are already doing it).

Sorry for the delay but I'm having some little personal problems these days. I will translate the Android Tutorial into Spanish tomorrow at the latest. Comrades, we will never repeat it enough: the work you are doing has a lot of merit and your commitment is worthy of great praise. You are a very important driving force for this group and the Alliance wouldn't be the same without you. Keep it up! Edit because Gazeta posted while I was writing = Not to mention Gazeta's effort adding his sum-ups every little time! and without belittling the work of other members, of course.

A while ago I proposed translating the thread of a service - AgoraDesk - since it was a service meant to protect users' privacy. I was glad the topic was accepted, for the reason I provided. Having this in mind, I would like to propose now the translation of Jambler thread, which has same purpose as AgoraDesk: protect people's privacy and anonymity. As a plus, this service was allowed by theymos to not be censored on the forum, so it's fully respecting all forum rules. Sounds like a good idea, GB. Users' privacy and anonymity should be above all. And since this service is allowed by theymos himself, we should have no restrictions or issues translating the Jambler thread. I'm sure other members would also agree. What do you think Porf? I'm not a fan of translating pro bono for-profit projects (I don't know yet if this is the case), I shared that opinion when we accepted AgoraDesk and in the end it took us a few problems as far as I remember. But I will dig more into it, because I don't know this service well and this case may be different. In the comment, he said that there is a specific topic for users to post their Bitcoin address to help in the future recover their Bitcointalk account if it was hacked or lost. I didn't know this topic existed and that's why I thought it was important to share it with you guys . Here's the topic - Stake your Bitcoin address here As far as I know, it is not necessarily required to post your BTC address in that specific topic. It can be any topic or thread as long as your post is un-edited and intact. -DS 🧛♂️ Not mandatory, but a good idea to add it in the second post of the translated threads IMO.
Thank you guys for your translations, specially DrBeer for the [Education] thread! There's only one left, I can't believe it

I don't think it is a straight scam. Maybe you work for nothing, that's all, but at least it doesn't seem that you will send any money and lose it. But hey! for some people time is more valuable than money itself, and it is a scarce resource indeed, so be careful. What surprised me is the following: -snip- To be honest,i'm afraid to create a topic, because now, under the new rules, the merits of the account can be removed -snip- Is it true that, under the new rules, the merits can be removed? If that's the way it works now, this is the first news I read about it...

I don't know much about bitcoin, and I also want to invest in bitcoin, but I want to ask whether bitcoin has good potential for the future? and what,, many people who lose investing in bitcoin.? and I want to know why people experience losses investing in bitcoin?
s. As you can see, nobody can accurately predict the future, but some predictions may come true with careful examination and research. In conclusion, it is predicted that bitcoin has a bright future for investment plans, which has been confirmed by numerous experienced bitcoin users. You can invest, but I will advise against investing all of life savings. Well, Rx009 is asking about the future of Bitcoin in a forum dedicated to Bitcoin, so he/she should expect a positive answer OP, carry out a proper risk assessment and make your own decisions, nobody has a crystal ball here and, even if we all share the same hope about the future, we can't be sure what will happen tomorrow.

If you are gambling and you want to benefit from your loss, you need to be using very small amount of money to gamble if you like gambling. So if you make money or you are losing, you are benefitting from gambling and that means you still benefited from losses even if you are not winning. You earn $250 weekly and you are using $5 to gamble weekly. That is an example. Betting with the money you can afford to lose is key to not lose control over your habits. In addition, what I do when I gamble is take that I lost that money for granted. For example, I recently made a bet on sports and it was a very difficult one (with odds around 20.0) so I knew that I was going to lose it, although it made watching the match more exciting to me. And I do it that way because, if you rely on winning, you become anxious, and it's true that if you stake high and the odds are good for you you'll win most of the times (little money), but when you lose it can be devastating, so imagine if you try to recover and lose again... So, back to the OP's question, I benefit from my loss not caring about it. When you care, and emotions start taking control of your decisions, you're in the path of becoming desperate and lose even more.
