261  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Buying bitcoin on: March 01, 2024, 06:18:38 AM
Is there in UK anyone who sell crypto for cash i want to avoid fees best would be litecoin dash monero or usdt

LocalBitcoins was the website to go if you wanted to sell for cash a few years ago, but I wonder what is the new leading platform to do it nowadays.

As I have been told, there are groups on Telegram where people contact in order to meet and buy/sell BTC face-to-face, but I haven't proven it myself and I would advice you to be careful when you deal with strangers.

More Do's:
Diversifying your portfolio can be more profitable in the short term, but HODLing has proven to be the safest long-term investment strategy so far.
Don't start too big before you have gained knowledge and confidence on what you're doing, but don't wait for too long to enter either, because a good way to learn is by managing a small personal portfolio.
Learn coin control.

More Dont's:
Don't be too greedy and plan ahead your exit strategy, but hodl a part "forever", just in case.
Don't invest what you can't afford to lose.
Don't believe in gurus online: fancy words, intonation, clothes, accessories, gadgets... hide the real truth: that nobody has a crystal ball. NOBODY.
For the same reason, don't believe in TA pseudoscience.
263  Other / Off-topic / Re: Having a regular/steady income is important as a gambler. on: March 01, 2024, 05:59:09 AM
I'll say those are quite an eye-opening statistics you got there. Indeed the odds are really staked against the gamblers, and the individuals that run the casinos are really the ones who are truly benefiting from the all the gambling activities in the end. This also explains why casinos are often seen as the house of cards, they are designed to give the general public the illusion that winning is very easy and that the chances of winning are more than that of losing, while in reality it's quite the opposite, the vast majority of people who gamble there will end up losing. With this in mind, it's preposterous how people often get addicted to gambling, it's almost like they're all chasing a mirage.
Casinos do not really hide the fact they have an edge on every single one of their games, after all the odds of winning are clear and the payouts are explicitly stated, so anyone that takes a moment to make some calculations will get to see that no matter what bet they make, the casinos have an advantage over them.

If people get addicted is because they have deceived themselves into thinking they can beat the casinos, and once they fail on achieving this goal they get obsessed with it and try to demonstrate that beating them is possible.

There are calculators online that will tell you the expected results after x times, given certain odds, so you din't even have to take the time to make the calculations yourself.

A few lucky players will beat the house and get a big prize, but these cases are exceptional, that's why it is important to have regular income: because, if you rely on your luck to make a living, and you risk your savings gambling, your strategy will be advocated to failure most if the times.

At that point, gambling is no longer fun.
264  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: Este año veremos un nuevo ATH? on: March 01, 2024, 05:48:25 AM

265  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Future of Gambling on: February 29, 2024, 03:24:40 PM
OP, you said that you just can't wait to see more of that evolution. Well, that's not my case because I think that technology is being developed too rapidly in many fields, and entertainment is not an exception.

I am not against technological advances, of course (I'm a proud Bitcoiner, you know), but I have the impression that we are still not able to manage our time when we stare at a screen, so imagine what will happen when more immersive experiences go mainstream.

The future is now, and IMO now is too soon.
266  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Do You See Losing Your Weekly Payment to The Casino on: February 29, 2024, 03:08:08 PM
-snip-

How do you see losing your payment to the casino?

Do you see losing your payment back to the casino as your own form of indirect support for the project?

Do you think that I already have a bad gambling mindset thinking that by engaging in one or two bets or games I am supporting the project I promote?

If you like gambling, losing your payment to the casino shouldn't be a big problem. If you are not in one of these situations like living in a country in development, having debt and not working, etc. what you earn with your signature every week is only a little "extra", which fits in the "what you can afford to lose" category. In fact, when I first read the title of this thread I thought that you were talking about your salary, but that's not your case.

About a form of indirect support to the casino, you can rationalize your loss as much as you want, but to me this thought is a bit absurd: you are already supporting the casino by wearing their signature and being active here, and on the other hand you don't lose on purpose. If you want to directly support the casino, better give up your reward. Not a bad gambling mindset per se, but more like lying to yourself; like when you ask a beautiful girl to go on a date with you and, when she says "no" you think: "well, I didn't really like her anyway...".
267  Economy / Services / Re: [OFNT] [AOBT] The Alliance Of Bitcointalk Translators on: February 29, 2024, 06:15:13 AM

Thank you DYING_S0UL! Just a few weeks left to bake our pies!! I can't wait to see who of us is up for it and what desserts they present Smiley

I made a translation  of fillippone's article "Debunking the "Bitcoin is an environmental disaster".

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=236982.msg63733494#msg63733494

When published in the Ukrainian section, the article is cut off. I had to split it into 2 posts

You are doing a great job DrBeer, thanks for translating so many topics and especially this one because it is harder than the others.

Please, don't forget to read the message in red and post that you finished this translation in the author's thread, in the correct format, as it is a sine qua non condition to translate his topics.
268  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Coinbase struggling to keep up with volume. on: February 29, 2024, 06:04:09 AM
I have never used Coinbase before, but this is not the first time that I hear this happens at the most inopportune time. In fact, I think that this is quite common in several CEX (it happened to me a few times in Bittrex several years ago).

Using exchanges can makes things easier when it comes to trading, swapping and selling to fiat, but as other users said before, if you rely on CEX you risk having scares like these.
269  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: [DOCUMENTAL] Fábrica de Estafas on: February 29, 2024, 05:51:32 AM

270  Other / Off-topic / Re: Everything you need is within you on: February 28, 2024, 06:08:03 AM
You don't really need to go the 360 degrees to be successful in life for everything you need is just within you.its not until you also do the same business the next successful person is doing before you gain financial freedom.the part way to success is not fixed you could discover yours.

Everything you need is actually not within you, sometime you need to cross other people's lane in order to become successful. The path to success is not fixed and this is the reason you should not limit yourself to your own ideas. Try out what others are doing and it might probably work better for you. You really don't need to go 360 degrees but you don't also stay stagnant waiting for opportunities to come by, you look for it and grab it. It might come through someone or self realized. By the way, success depends on your mindset and believe. It doesn't just happen like that, you must work hard for it and show determination.

I don't know if this conversation goes here or fits more in the Politics&Society board. You both are describing two of the most popular ideologies in the last centuries: liberalism when Luizwalter Crypt says that everything you need is within you (individualism) vs socialism when knowngunman answers that sometime you must try out what others are doing (gregariousness).

Reality is more complex like that and, paradoxically, both are right and still wrong. There is no perfect formula, not yet at least.
271  Economy / Gambling / Re: Any experiences with mrSloty.com ? on: February 28, 2024, 06:00:37 AM
Good news!! Finally after 2 months the withdrawal has arrived.
Anyway it has no sense that long delay
withdrawal of your funds for 2 months for me is a very long time. Even if you just want to withdraw your own money, it only takes 24 hours. if large quantity it may take longer time, but i don't know how much you withdraw.

but congratulations. at least you have managed to withdraw your money from this gambling and my advice is better stay away from gambling platforms that are not reputable.
here there are still many gambling platforms that have a good reputation that you need to research and start gambling there comfortably and safely.

And, as Kakmakr said above, these withdrawal times often hide problems in the company's cash flow, so you were even more lucky for recovering your money.

Next time read some reviews first, check Trustpilot and, of course, feel free to ask here BEFORE you deposit your precious coins.
272  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: Este año veremos un nuevo ATH? on: February 28, 2024, 05:52:43 AM

274  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Make reading a habit on: February 27, 2024, 06:13:58 AM
A forum senior member told me he could not do without login to the forum for just a week, he said that he was going to hear a little remorseful voice that communicates to him and he said he is already used to it he also told me without reading it just feels like the end of the world  for him…
That is the simple truth. His is weeks, but I barely stay days without visiting here. Even when I'm not in the mood to make posts, I will just visit the reputation board to see if there are new dramas to read.

Well, although I don't like reading tabloids and, therefore, I hardly ever visit that board you mentioned (I know that I'm missing an important source of entertainment, but whatever), I also feel the urge to log in almost every day. In the case I skip one day because of a holiday, birthday or another similar excuse, I have to recapitulate next day not to feel that I'm missing something important.
275  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it ethical to break your gambling rules on: February 27, 2024, 06:06:09 AM
-snip-

That being said, this week I noticed that I have continued in the same trend despite that I have a personal gambling rule, not to gamble for two weeks consecutively,  but unknowingly for me I am already in the third week without adhering to my own rule.

Dear Ojima-ojo, I think that there is nothing wrong about breaking one's rules -with all due cautions- because of an extraordinary event, like a World Cup or something like that. As these are exceptions, I think that a healthy person wouldn't have a problem. BUT this doesn't seem to be the case, so watch out!

So this led me to ask the general public if I am gambling too much, although this excess didn't affect my finances in any way since I still managed to come out with little winning at the end of the day and at some level, my losses are still below 30 percent of my set out money.

I see this like a little red flag, my friend: aren't you trying to convince yourself -cheating yourself? Limits should apply to both time and money, and you said that you're definitely breaking one of them.
276  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: Reddit declara tener reservas corporativas en Bitcoin y Ethereum on: February 27, 2024, 05:55:07 AM
<...>

-snip-

Thank you gagux! We have finished translating the Bitcoin pie baking contest in record time Shocked

@RickDeckard, you can update the OP with all the 10 translations made so far Smiley

Remaining translations: Husna QA's educational topic, and fillippone's arguments debunking the myth about Bitcoin mining environmental dystopia.

As we're entering a new month very soon, let's start looking for the next proposal about a new short translation, apart from the two longer topics above.
278  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have this practice of gambling during one's wake on: February 26, 2024, 02:53:14 PM
This is legal in our country provided that you ask permission from authorities, they allow gambling like card games and color games they allocate a fee, or what we call in our country a "tong" for the family of the bereaved so they can cover the expenses of the family during their hard times.
Do you have a similar practice in your country and is this legal in your country?

I often play games during the wake to keep up with friends and relatives of the bereaved this is to sympathize with the family, these are friendly games and the tong will help the family, it's been with this tradition ever since in our country, and I believe it will keep on as long as there are families who need to cover expenses of the family's who are left.
This is so familiar to me and I think we are on the same country as well. Common way to gamble during a wake is cara y cruz, card games, mahjong, chess and bingo here in my place. This actually varies from place to place depending on the availability of the games and or the bankers who will initiate the gambling but yeah this is legal in our country.

¿Cara y/o Cruz? Are you talking about Spain or Latin America? As I understand, this practice during the wake seems to be more common in Filipinas, Indonesia... but the name of the game you mentioned is in Spanish (isn't it "head or tails", or simply coin flip in English?), so I'm curious where are you writing for.

At least in Spain I have never heard about similar practice during the mourn (I have to confess that, fortunately, I have never been in one) so, as you all said, it seems something more cultural from certain regions than a general practice in different countries.

279  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler takes his own life after a loss. on: February 26, 2024, 06:05:26 AM
I was really heartbroken when I saw the story. I believe this story highlights the dangers of gambling addiction.

Well, let's put things in context. How many of the people who gamble end up committing suicide because of gambling? I don't have data but it has to be a tiny percentage. Like 0,...% with quite a few zeros. This story is tragic but it is far from the norm. And I bet there were other things behind it that we don't know about, because it's very rare to commit suicide because you lost $3.000 even if in your country the purchasing power of that money is higher than in others.

As Don Pedro Dinero said, I also think that there may be other reasons behind the reasons for committing suicide: did he take a loan from dangerous people? was this money needed to pay the rent and feed his family, in a country with no social security at all?

Chances are, on the other hand, that he got so obsessed about the loss that he took such a bad decision, or maybe because of some previous mental illness.

Fortunately, this case is rare, as DPD also said, but so impressive that we keep talking about it, so it seems more common that it is in reality.

You're doing great guys! we have already 9/10 languages for RickDeckard's 🥧 Bitcointalk Pie Baking Contest - 2nd edition 🥧 topic, and there is still more than half the time to participate.

On the other hand, I've started translating fillippone's topic, but as it is so long I'm translating it in several days, and I recommend that you do the same.

Keep up! Wink
