Proof of Bitcoin Node (PoBN) needs to have some way to allow people to run the version of Bitcoin core they want to run - imo
Georgem mentioned this as a question and a few other related issues, a day or two ago.
It was a brief passing comment - but it only really hit me yesterday how big of an issue this is.
Yeah, in no way can we force people to download and run a certain bitcoin version. This would take away all their "voting power" and would be a horrible centralization we impose on the community. So the "proof" that a servicenode runs a bitcoin node must basically allow a fork to happen, if it has to come to that. So checking that the a bitcoin node is installed (and is constantly running) must happen not by crosschecking it with some master-bitcoinnode, but differently.

Is that tactic independent of the recently rendered unreliability? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1154520.0It prevents correct detection of Bitcoin XT adoption in the wild since usage will be known to have been tampered with and thus all statistical data gathered by getnodes can only be considered unreliable.
Cheers Graham

But seriously, I do agree with you.
The discussions we have had for the potential of the SPR network clearly overstep the mark of being defined as a coin. Our primary goal is not to be a payment system for example.
Lets have this debate now rather than in a years time.

+101 I'll donate some SPR, for vocal view, to the devs on your behalf (I think this counts as trying to rig the outcome).

Please don't ask why..... Of the top 100 wallets, which account for 74% of the current supply: ~550k are in wallets that have been inactive for 3+ months ~600k are in wallets that have been inactive for more than 1 month, less than 3 months ~1.4m are in active wallets used within the last 30 days:

Don't all shot me at once: Any chance of dropping the 'coin' in Spreadcoin? Please, please discuss. 10 SPR to everyone that agrees with me, vocally Absolutely, I've been thinking about shortening the name to spread since mr. spread left. Well, it's very difficult to find any domainname that is spread only, but we can still just call it spread. We can think about maybe calling the currency unit itself spread instead of spreadcoin. e.g. "How many spread does this sandwhich cost, spread101?" "Damn, I am out of spread!" "Wow, someone just gave me 1000 spread, just like that..." etc
