Nope. You have to sell it whenever you need some cash. Even thou someday Bitcoin price will be 10,000$ . But you don't know when right? What if you need some cash but you are expecting that Bitcoin price will rise someday, but how if bitcoin price will fall ? No one knows ? right ? But as far as I know, you need to use it as soon as possible because maybe time will come, bitcoin will stop producing and investors stops investing. So be sure that use your Bitcoin as soon as possible.
Exactly, we sell when we need money or cash, we invested now because we want to get profit but how can we enjoy our profit when we are not selling bitcoins to convert it to fiat. Is good to hold in the long period of time as surely the price will continue to increase but we cannot risk all our money until the end of our life. Yup and earning profits is more important then holding for long term, as if you will never sell then you will never make money out of it, so its good to sell when we are making profits from it. The bitcoin price will rise soon after the Ethereum hard fork saga finishes. That will take a few months. |

So far, I have not sold any bitcoin. I just used some bitcoins. I think the bitcoin is the best investment so far.

Reading the responses to the recent topic titled, "I would sell all my bitcoins if…." has left me concerned.
The kinds of responses on that thread reveal a deep misunderstanding of bitcoin and the current monetary system in many of those who are speculating. Let's consider the scenario in which bitcoin reaches $1000 or let's say $10,000 per bitcoin. Many have said they will cash out if bitcoin reaches this point. Why??
If bitcoin reaches $10,000 it will have to be because the fiat currencies of the world are tumbling to worthlessness via a hyperinflation type scenario and bitcoin is the safe haven, which if you know anything about the current monetary systems of the world, you know this is inevitable. (there have been 3800 fiat currencies throughout history and EVERY SINGLE LAST ONE has crashed to worthlessness; a value of zero) Why would you then sell all of your sound money (Bitcoin) for a bunch of fiat money that is inevitably becoming worthless? I don't understand the logic in doing that.
If bitcoin ever reaches $10,000 per bitcoin, you will NEVER see me selling for fiat paper money. You may however see me having a shopping spree at Overstock.com or TigerDirect.com or NewEgg.com! I will be buying things I want with my bitcoin profits DIRECTLY WITH BITCOIN, not selling my bitcoin for paper fiat. Hopefully by then there will be many more options, perhaps even Amazon.com will be accepting bitcoin for goods and I can have my shopping spree there.
Point being, selling bitcoin for dollars seems counterproductive. Why convert your paper fiat currency into sound value storing superior bitcoin, only to sell all of your superior bitcoin back for worthless antiquated fiat currency again? Why not just spend the bitcoin itself to buy what you want instead of taking a loss by converting back into dollars which will inflate away eventually anyway?
If you have lots of money roaming around your house of course you would never sell your bitcoin and see where it leads you. The world is round and there is no assurance of bitcoin going to what you are imagining. I believe in bitcoin yes but in a place where you cant buy everything with bitcoin but only fiat money, am sure you will be the first one to convert your precious bitcoin to worthless fiat money just to buy your daily needs. |

no it is not good to say that i am not going to sell my bitcoins for every, there is no doubt about it that i am holding it for long term investment but it does not mean that i will hold it for ever and will never sill it, it will depend on conditions and situation of the time if i really need to sell my bitcoin for buying some thing or i fell the need for something else i will surely sell it.

Honestly I can't find any reason why i should never sell my bitcoin. I have to sell it in some point. Coz not selling it will only means wasting alot of opportunity to gain profit. You can hold it for sometime but there will always be a time to sell your investment. Only an idiot will keep his investment untouch for eternity.

I have sold many bitcoin when the prices under $350, and it may be true what was said by you, why should I not sell bitcoin me, and better wait for the right time to sell, when the price of bitcoin over $1000. but the wait it would be too long, and I am also not typical of people who hold bitcoin for a long time. but indeed sometimes regret it if I think, has been selling bitcoin at a cheap price.

well, i think you have to sell your bitcoin at some point but at that point in time you should never empty your pockets by selling everything. instead sell a little on the rises to make enough profit to become happy from your sell and then continue holding your coins and start using them as currency if you want.

It is really not an advisable thing that you are not going to sell your bitcoins forever because how you are going to earn and going to get profit if you are not going to sell your bitcoins. It is just a matter of setting up a range of time of until when you are going to hold your bitcoins, because it is really needed to sell it in the future. It is a better idea that you do not sell your bitcoin unless you buy the Ethereum. You can also use some bitcoins. |

It would be another milestone if any of the major e-commerce stores or even digital payment providers starts accepting bitcoin. I agree with your statement of not selling bitcoins but if someone is looking for profits then he should continue doing both (buying at lower levels and selling at higher levels), now if you truly want to support bitcoin then you should spend it instead of holding it. I am not saying to spend entire coins from your wallet but use bitcoins to pay your bills and cover that expenditure through buying that number of bitcoins with your fiat. So instead of spending fiat directly, spend bitcoins and buy more bitcoins with your fiat.

Well, you can also sell it to gain more profit by selling it after the bitcoin price will be high, that time the bitcoin will be at high price then, you can buy more altcoins rather than on lower price. So the best thing to do to your bitcoin is to sell it when the price is high.
