Isn't it basically,

"Dude!  Stop moving around so we can hit you!  Nothing we say sticks!  We want to shoot your arguments and your attitude dead!  So you need to get up real close and stand really still because we aren't very good shots!  And shut up, too!  Don't distract us while we're aiming."

It has long been my contention that the elite will move heaven and earth in order to keep Trump from ever setting foot in the Oval Office.  One way that they could try to do this is by attempting to deny him the nomination at the Republican convention next month.  Over the past couple of days, the Washington Post, CNN and a whole host of other mainstream news outlets have been reporting on a new "last-ditch effort" that has been launched by Republican operatives to get the Republican convention Rules Committee to unbind all of the delegates and allow them to vote however they want.  As you will see below, they can do this, and if they get enough votes they will do it.

Something like the Nixon impeachment. At least one of the charges (IRS abuse) brought against Nixon was indulged in my the Kennedy administration and moreso the Johnson administration. This factor might well have been the angle to sway many Republicans towards impeachment - namely, "Get on board with this and you're impeaching Johnson as well. The Democrats won't pull their usual tricks because it'll be easy to yell 'Nixon!' and make them back off from it."

FWIW. no serious case of Dem IRS abuse surfaced after Nixon's resignation until the Obama administration. (Lois Lerner.)
