This probably isn't a great investment - but just I decided to buy a few thousand IXC (IxCoin), as far as I'm aware, it was the first fork of BTC (making it the oldest altcoin) so a little bit of history. Market cap has dropped way off recently, which doesn't look great - however it has been alive since 2011. For me it also makes some good speculation. I think its a coin everyone should be aware of. Its USP is that it was the original BTC clone =)

the best altcoin of this year was surely the Monero which has been rising none stop for the past weeks and it is now just taking some breath to keep rising again soon. the amount of investors that are coming to this coins is unbelieveable just because it is being used these days.

Past ago we seen that monero is rising but right now we dont seen high rise about this monero..
So if you holding monero right now better to sale it and buy again if the price goes low again..

I heard that waves was the worst but lisk came out relatively at the same time so don't know if that one will sink too.
Monero is a strange coin because it was on the brink of collapse then all the sudden it skyrockets.

WAVES had a great idea, but poor execution. I agree, it will be interesting to see where Monero goes though. The growth of that coin continues to remind me how odd an exciting Altcoins can be.

The problem with Bitcoin and transactions is that few will agree to have their 'credit card' flow of information broadcast publicly.

Monero is going to disrupt the cryptocurrency industry for this reason and Bitcoin will limit itself to use like digital gold.

Monero has some apparent use cases to everyone some more noble than others but for the common man what Monero has fundamentally is actually required for crypto and a feature we have somewhat with money today, that we can't view anyones bank statements we want.

Within the next 2 months Monero will have a +$1BN market cap. As a privacy oriented coin increases in market cap the uses for it also increases e.g parking a million USD into 1BN market cap is more likely to occur than into 30M market cap. Same with large deals that require moving money around in and out back and fourth.
