Union Berlin had a bad defeat without ability to fight against Bayern Munich but they actually have a good season. Having a third position is great for them and getting it with only three points less than first and second clubs is very amazing for a small club like them.

They have got there chance on this game but they dont have used it.
And on top of that Bayern Munich was clearly better and thats why they have won that game.

Union Berlin played against Bayern, I would cut them some slack for losing like that and it's normal. I am not saying that they will end up winning every other game, of course there will be other losses or draws, but this one made sense at least, you could lose to Bayern without being a bad team.

I guess that third position is still pretty solid for them, of course they could drop further if something goes wrong or any important player gets injured, but third spot should be what they deserve. By my guesses, I think Bayern will be the champions by the end of the season, Dortmund will be second, and Union will be third, but that is just my guess and I don't know if it will happen like that.

I think the important aim of Union Berlin in this season would be realistic as a position in top four that can help them to gain good awarded income at the season ending as well as getting chance to play in Champions League next season together with bigger income.
It won't be easy for Union Berlin as Leipzig and Frankfurt can take over their third position too. They are very closely in total points on the table and are not big different against each other.

If they keep playing like they did the last weeks and Month i guess they will end the season in the top 4 or 6 !
But i personal i like it how the points and places close are right now on table for each other.
This makes the German League more interesting.

Union Berlin aren't a very durable team to tell the truth. They can be a quite fragile team in some time periods. We have seen it in their match against Bayern Munich recently as well. I don't expect to see them in the title race after a point. They don't seem to have the motivation and strength for going until the end.

To do so they might need to have a better squad. Of course not always teams with great squads become the champions. There is a great Leicester example in front of us. But this isn't a thing which is seen very often either.
