If the hack happened in July 2014 why did Mullet wait until April of 2015 to fix the lucky7 wallet code on github?  I believe cryptsy had lucky7 listed the entire time did they not?

https://github.com/Mullick/lucky7coin/commit/799b0b6b65a8fdd827d0d1406868d34a045ea779

It is also worth noting that this github commit is more than a month after Dooglus pointed out the issue https://github.com/alerj78/lucky7coin/issues/1

It is hard to believe the story as posted on the crypt-sty blog.  I think it is all smoke and mirrors and this is just a regular case of small man Vern greedily steals his customer's money.

So when Big Vern goes to assemble his advisory board... what "leaders" are left in crypto who aren't under investigation, indicted, residing out of the country to avoid prosecution, or just broke and embarrassed? I mean seriously, who's going to sit at that table? Marshall Long? The BFL gang? Ravi from Cointerra? Can Karpeles send a proxy?

To whoever bet on a law enforcement raid in the next few days, I hope you're right.

What would anyone gain by buying cryptsy?

Why would customers trade on the site if it was "given" to them?

This isn't going to be turnkey software that you can just turn on and start running again. If we are to believe cryptsy's stories you have a bunch of debt, a bunch of broken wallets, and a bunch of pissed off customers you owe money to.

What positive would you gain from owning and/or running cryptsy? What do they have of value? How much work would you have to do to figure out how much money you owe who and if any other wallets are "compromised."

I see zero benefit to taking over cryptsy, so zero benefit to bail you guys out.

Here are our options:

..

2. Somebody else comes in to purchase and run Cryptsy while also making good on requested withdrawals.

What kind of fucking idiot would invest in an old, broken site, liable for maintaining a thousand shitcoin wallets, run by incompetent dishonest scammers, with a brand that has negative value? And on top of all that, is in the hole for millions of dollars because of their incompetent security?

Hahahaha, you dragged this out too long Cryptsy. You could've done the right thing and have been honest, instead you ran an insolvent ponzi that screwed over your customers. Now go away, preferably to prison, if there's any justice.

Maybe it's crazy but this and other similar situations of coins being stolen demonstrates the benefit of having a way to reverse transactions.

Perhaps we should consider a mechanism to reverse a transaction through a vote or consensus. Haven't fully thought out how this could work but it is something to consider.

Something could be designed to allow miners to reverse a specific transaction (and all subequest tx's) through majority consensus in extreme situations such as this.

Mistakes and thefts happen. Fiat banks have the ability to correct mistakes and reverse transactions unless the funds are withdrawn for cash.

I dunno...just thinking out loud.

This is the Best i heard for that moment!  Shocked

This is completely contrary to the whole point of crypto.  Might as well also suggest a central authority to determine which transactions are legit and which ones need to be reversed.

so, as you say it is much better that Paul Vernon steal that BTC & LTC from users, instead of returning it back to those whom they belong?!
your words really "support" crypto community in eyes of other peoples who only "heard" about crypto!

crypto supports that opportunity, so why you prefer not using it?
and there is no "central authority", if majority of miners will support that move, so this will be... that's all.

Where
did
Mullick
go ?

Mullick noticed the Backdoor and committed changes to the code of Lucky7Coin on Apr. 23rd 2015... 9months after the theft and one month after Dooglus had reported it. TorCoin also had the same backdoor implemented and it was stopped being developed the same week the Lucky7Coin "new" developer hit the jackpot with Cryptsy on July 29th 2014. Now this might lead to think:

A: TorCoin and Lucky7Coin new developer are the same person/group. (and they really got lucky with the fucking coin Grin)

B: Mullick (if he was the wallet guy like some of u say here) didn't notice about the backdoor until 9 months after the theft... I hope by then they had connected the dots.

C: They had no clue what had hit them in July 2014... maybe the reason why they never reported it to the police. They could not know what the hell had happened.

My question is: Why are the BTC unspent? Have the guys been living on the LTC? I have tried to follow the LTC a bit, but my complete noobness in regard to blockchain investigation makes me just see millions of transactions with big numbers and can't see a pattern... Well there's a pattern... the LTC is transferred to 1 Address. From there it is partitioned pretty equally twice. After that is too complex for me.

Edit1 :

Sorry, forgot the links:

Investing / restructuring / restarting Cryptsy is a fools errand and would take years to complete as the bankruptcy estate unfolds. It's tainted!

The withdrawals would be done so quickly the coins would vanish like a fart in the wind!

FWIW, Horus was the only person at Craptsy I trusted at all...

I spoke with him several times, and he strikes me as an honest man trying to do his job

If anyone dropped the ball, maybe Mullick... he always struck me as a shady character... he was in charge of wallets and almost certainly knew about the theft 18 months ago...

Which is why i don't believe Horus !

The two were glued to the hip and before and after the big announcement i have brought up Mullick
and all Horus ever did was HIDE !

There was obviously and clearly problems with the site for a long time.
Mullick was the wallet guy..
And from watching these guys for years i know those two were best of friends online.
When his best buddy and coworker in charge of wallets VANISHES you think what now ?

I asked Horus ALL THE TIME FOR MONTHS and he ignored me 100% !
and only days ago.. did he make some half ass vague comment on Cryptsy chat about it.

Let's recap shall we..
Horus says.. "as far as i know Mullick still works there"
AFTER MONTHS of the guy disappearing + massive withdrawal issues.
AND.. he was best of friends with the guy and ALWAYS on chat together.
and in contact through a myriad of ways from PM's to video chat to phone calls i assume.

Never mind the fact that i would be worried seeing withdrawal problems and the WALLET GUY
disappear with no comment for MONTHS !
I take it when the head of Investigations notices the Head of wallets on an exchange vanished for 2 or 3 months
he simply writes it off as business as usual.. even thought 80 coins are down and Horus has to make excuses 24/7 for Mullick's JOB.. and there was clearly severe problems with withdrawals all along.

So the INVESTIGATOR didn't put 2 and 2 together long ago ?
Or wonder why his co-worker and best buddy vanished ?

Horus knows why.
Horus knows damn well what happened to Mullick but avoided answering for 4 months to play the denial game.

I watched these two bum buddies chat it up fro 3 years.
If Mullick vanished under the circumstances with Cryptsy in flames
how the fuck does Horus have the nerve to say on chat "ya i *think* he still works there" ?

Horus i don't buy your story.

Spoetnik brings up Mullick again.... and

He's gone.

EDIT:
HARP ON THIS GUYS BIG TIME

@Hache

I want Horus to respond to this for the parts WE DO NOT KNOW.
He has avoided replying for MONTHS.

He know more than he says.
