Nadal said today that for the same problem he had at the Australian Open, he had to skip the tournament of Acapulco and miss the "Master 1000" tournaments in Miami and Indiana Wells. Wawrinka will also not be in these 2 tournaments. Djokovic has stated that he will most likely play Indiana Wells and will surely play in Miami!
I hope Wawrinka and especially Nadal will be 100% ready for Roland Garros. The way Nadal played last year on Roland Garros, without losing any set was fabulous. Anyone knows when Murray will be back in competition ?

It would be a shame for the French Open if Nadal misses due to this injury he picked up in the Australian Open. If these top players miss the French Open then it opens up the door for Federer to win his second French Open unless one of the up coming young talents can knock him off. I think Murray will be out almost all season from what I heard.

I think he will struggle to win against those young talents such as Zverev, Thiem,...

I think the forgotten player is Novak Djokovic who at the moment seems to be facing a mental battle with himself. If he can get himself right, then he can be a main contender for sure and challenge Federer.

That in itself would have himself take out alot of his time to prepare for a tournament. Physically and mentally. I heard the same about Murray that he will be out probably until the middle of the year just like I hear that Djokovic will make his return back on to the ATP circuit.

Its more of a physical battle for both of them , we all know how tough they are mentally . Djokovic will be back sooner than Murray but they are needed in the tour right now to level up the tennis quality as many top tennis players are dropping out of the tournaments because of injuries.

Nadal can return to the top spot in the atp ranking with the next Indian Wells tournament ... even if he does not play it! Federer must defend the 1000 points of last year, so he must reach at least the semifinals, otherwise Nadal will return (for a short time) to the first place.

here are the possible quarter-finals of the Indian Wells tournament (Atp1000):
Federer vs Thiem/Chung Dimitrov vs Kyrgios/K.Anderson
A.Zverev vs Sock/Pouille Cilic vs Del Potro/Djokovic/Nishikori
For me there will be a final between Federer and A.Zverev. Interesting to see the returns of Raonic, Djokovic and Nishikori.

I want to see Federer facing Chung , it would be a great contest because Chung's defence is amazing and he is agressive too like Federer . I am guessing , it will be a djoker Federer finals.

I had to look up what his name was cause I haven't heard of him before today. Alot of major players have fallen this tournament. And Federer almost had everybody having a heart attack this afternoon with his match as it went way longer than his normally needed to dispatch a low level player compared to his status on the ATP circuit. Who else is yet to fall before round three begins?

Didn't watch much of tournament yet, but judging from some glimpses and results it seems to me that most of top players are currently off form. Del Potro and Cilic look like they mean business though.

Not just that maybe its time to see some new faces in tennis both men and women. They played and rule the game for 10 years and now its time for that to change liked it or not it just how things are working.

Its just for a period of time , everyone will be back on tour soon in full form its just that they would have lost confidence by now and need to regain it by winning couple of tight matches . It seems like ( for me) its difficult for Wawrinka to comeback and play like he used to play though I am gonna miss him a lot.

Yes it is a weird tournament for sure. Zverev just bowed out so two of the most very top seeds have left. First with Djokovic then him in the last match of the day. What a dismal ATP for these top players so far. Except for Roger but he almost left early from the highlights that I saw from yesterdays match.

It is strange that many top seeds are struggling right now. We could have a surprising winner of the Indian Wells if this trend continues.

Well Djokovic wasn't really confident and hence mentally weak which is the main reason for his loss but I don't want to take any credit away from Daniel , I have seen him play before he plays some good tennis . As far as surprise winner is concerned I would say NO because of Federer and some good players like Del Potro , Thiem .

After her first round exit from the Indian Wells tournament by Naomi Osaka, Maria Sharapova have split with her long time coach Sven Groeneveld after working with the trainer for a period of four years.
