Personally, I am much more surprised by Tsitsipas' loss than Medvedev's loss. It's just that everyone has known for a long time and it's clear that the coating on Roland Garros is not the most favorite for Medvedev, plus the factor of the recently undergone surgery should have done their job and there was only a question when it would happen. Another question is Tsitsipas, who knows and knows how to play in Paris, where he reached the final last season. However, a four-hour battle with a player ranked 134th in the ranking already suggested some thoughts. By the way, Tsitsipas did not complain about his health after the match and on the contrary said that he physically felt perfect.

It was a surprise and I did not expect Tsitsi to lose but if you check my tickets above you will see I had bets on Rune to take a set and cover handicap.

This match was a different case, here we had both players that are playing great on clay. Don't know if you guys have seen Rune play before but he has the game to outgun anybody on clay. His problem is consistency and I thought that will be enough for more experienced Tsitsi to prevail in the end.

Regarding matches today, I was leaning towards Nadal since I am always searching for value and odds of 2,7 on Nadal on clay seem like free money. But after thinking about it a bit more, I don't think he has a chance if he is not at least 90% of his best and it seems to me he is far from that. At the moment I am leaning towards Djoko handi. This Nadal will destroy Djoko in any set while opposite can happen.

And this destruction that Medvedev suffered from Cilic just now is the reason why nobody should ever place a single cent on Medvedev when playing surface is clay Cilic is nothing more than solid clay player and he looked like top 3 in the world against Medvedev.

Hope some of you cashed in on this, I have been preaching about it for whole day. Not all my tickets passed but most of them did and here are the two that are multi so a bit more interesting to share.

Yup i had Cilic on handicap +6.5 more because its Cilic and he can have really
mediocre days than Medvedev not performing well on clay. Anyway yes Cilic did
actually look like a top 3 player. He meets Rublev next so in my mind thats a very
unpredictable outcome.

Interestingly Rune played junior doubles with Alcaraz! and like Alcaraz he has a big game,
hopefully the inconsistancies will be ironed out but yea the win over Tsitsipas was great,
I watched the highlights before Cilic/Medvedev.

Go figure, huh Trofo, I put correct scores 3:1 and 3:2 on Cilic, and I actually saw the end of first set, was hoping he'd win it, but wasn't expecting to see him get it given to him on a plate with double faults. Bloody hell haha.

Straight set win put me out, and odds on that were actually higher than the 10/1s I took haha.

Oh well, least I avoided the Tsitsi bet too.

Fair play for this, well spotted. I did see Medvedev struggle a lot on clay - but it isn't the ideal surface for Čilić as well. I always expect elite players to be able to at least decently perform on all surfaces and in Medvedev's case it is still not happening. He breezed through the first 3 matches though - so I expected a bit more.

A nice opportunity is opening up now for Čilić - he might actually reach the final.

Honestly, I expected that his chance for a good result could be Wimbledon and I really didn't expect him to play so well in Paris.
So far he has won the US Open and played in the finals of Australia and Wimbledon, but he has never played so well in Paris, so this result is really a surprise to me.

The Nadal vs Djokovic match is kinda late on my timezone, too bad I won't able to watch it. Nadal though wanted the match much earlier as he doesn't want to play obviously t oo late with a lot of lights around it.

Its true the evening session is not Nadal's preferred time and this as has been discussed
is probably tilted in Djokovic's favour. I have a +6.5 handicap bet on Nadal. Just listening
to McEnroe, he says its hard to bet against Nadal on clay....

Pity about Fernandez but Trevisan is having a mighty run.

Zverev I believe had a fantastic performance today to beat Alcaraz in 4 sets, I just saw the 4th
set tie break.

He has more immediate things to think about, just gone into the 3rd set with over
2hrs 30mins gone and one set each. Nadal has started each set breaking Djokovic
but its still even enough.

I'm not sure Alcaraz was his biggest fear, I would say this current match was in his
sights quite early on in the tournament when he realised they were on the same side
of the draw, the same for Djokovic, he would have seen this match up coming.

It's might be true that Alcaraz is the biggest threat for him, and as he lost to Zverev, maybe Nadal's mindset is very positive right now. But he has to deal with Djokovic first and it's no easy task. He took the 1st first but then Djokovic comes back strong in the 2nd. And so far this is still a toss up, although I want Nadal to win but this might go to the wire 5th in a close to 5 hour match.

Nadal got this one, he is very much in form. The crowd boost is keeping his confidence up too whenever he makes a mistake. Hitting forehands with pinpoint accuracy.

There's no way for Djokovic to come back. He looks gassed compared to Nadal. Already at 16 unforced errors, compared to 7 by nadal.

Then he broke Djokovic 5-4 and Nadal serving, but I have to take my morning jogging so I did get out and when I come back, Nadal won the fourth set in a tie break.

@Kemarit I always believed that Nadal would win, but have to admit that Djokovic put up a strong performance too, however in the end it was clear that Nadal wanted the victory badly than Djokovic did. Furthermore can we say that the old Nadal is back, and from now on we’ll see him win like he used to do or it’s too early for me to get excited about his current form?.

Only coming late to see my preferred guy won, that's 2 heavy underdogs in 2 days, and setting up the king of RG for an extension of his record (don't think he'll make it though). He'll be pleased it ended up as a relatively short match so he didn't spend everything here, plenty of unforced errors, sharing 8 DFs, but yeah, what an athlete this guy. Definitely gets the Anfield effect though!

yes there were plenty of unforced errors, double faults, near misses, line calls and
questions over service time but there was some fantastic shot making and winners
on both sides but the king of clay notched up another win over Djokovic.

Next up now is Zverev but there is a two day break so there shouldnt be a question
over tiredness or fatigue and again as John McEnroe said at the start of the match yesterday
when asked who he fancied for the win he said "Its hard to bet against Nadal on clay"

It was a really fantastic match once again. When we talk about unforced errors, we have to understand we are speaking about 2 players that are 35+ years old.

The level of tennis they have shown throughout most of their clash yesterday was on an insanely high level - so was the earlier Zverev - Alcaraz game.

Today we have some weaker games - at least on paper - and the winner will probably be from the upper part of the draw where Nadal is playing Zverev for the final. I do hope Čilić manages to use a good opportunity he has been given - starting with Rublev this afternoon.

I expected Djoković to do better after winning that 2nd set but obviously Nadal likes his king of clay mantle and doesn't plan on relinquishing it soon.

This one looked like it might go the same way when Djokovic pulled that second set back from a double break down... unbelievable that Nadal could win it when he's not 100% and also no doubt tired from a five setter against FAA.

Yes, and probably that's one reason why he doesn't want to play at night.

And it just proved how Nadal is still the king of clay, like this performance against Djokovic. But Zverev avoided an all Spaniard semis, so it will be him against Rafa. This could be another epic match.

Cilic vs. Rublev - a 5 setter perhaps?
