I had a bet on Ruud to beat Delbonis and he is favourite to beat Swartzmann @ 1.50
to 2.55 for Diego.

I took Ruud to beat Schwartzman today @1.48. I feel like he has a distinct advantage on clay with his strong serve / forehand combo against opponent who does not have a strike strong enough to finish the points easy. I am bit afraid for the bet since I did not watch the tournament at all so I am not sure how those guys are actually playing at the moment. This bet is based on last year clay performances.

Its really hard to say who can be the winner of this tournament.
I put 60 % of chance of win to Diego Schwartzman because he is in his home with his public and defend the tittle here, but in the other hand Ruud in this moment its a better player than him, like we can see in the ranking.

In the second set Ruud have made a strong play and has made 4 aces which is a confident play. Argentina Open is dominated by these two players, because this is the eighth time both playing against each other in the finals. Third sets first point is taken by Ruud.

He converted his 10th break ball, that is very poor on clay against guy with mediocre serve. After missing so many good opportunities he got a bit nervous and dropped that first set. Afterwards it was easy sailing in the most games. Schwartzman played more double of Ruud minutes this week so maybe that had some impact in this tournament as well.

Apart from this, the stats of both the players seems to be close throughout. Both have a good win loss record on clay which is also a reason why we can't predict the winner at the start of the match. The records of win-loss during the year for Ruud have 3-0 and Schwartzman have 5-1.

Yes sadly as Argentinian Diego cant retain the tittle and can defend the home tournament. But he isnt in his best moment and Casper Ruud its one of the player with most future in the ATP i think.
SO i have to congratulate who win his bet and Casper for the tittle.
In the doubles one Argeninian win at least.

It turns out the difference was true here. Ruud took the third set home pretty easily as well. It looks like he had to find his rhythm in the game and once he did, there wasn't really any chance for Schwartzman to compete on eye level with Ruud. Good game though, both are decent players but the better one won this today.

Second time Ruud is winning the Argentinian Open. This tournament have got 101 years of history, and he is the first Norwegian to win it in the year 2020 against Pedro Sousa, now the second time against Schwartzman. Ruud being the best on clay court is also a growing player with good potential among the young generation.

Yes man i dont know if Casper Rudd its training in Spain or with spanish guys because its really strange to see a guy who its from a country that its not:
-Argentina
-Brasil
-Spain
-France (a litlle less)
-Italy

Feeling and doing so good in a surface like clay.
I know if you are really good playing tennis you can compete in all surface but its rarely to see.

I expect good things from him in 2022.

He does like the Clay courts. He had 5 tournament wins last year with 4 of them being
on Clay ^{Geneva Switzerland, Bastad Sweden, Gstaad Switzerland, Kitzbuhel Austria} .
He is ok on Hard courts too winning San Diego U.S last year with plenty of QF's and SF's
reached on both surfaces too.

after good performance on AO, where he had 2:0 against Medvedev and did not hold to finish it, he proved that this could be a great season for him
it is really hard to play "best of five" for most young players, what hold him on AO

Andy Murray plays against Daniel Taro today and looks to be favourite. I have my bet
on for him. Andy is always good for at least a first round bet in any competition but
what do you all think of Daniel Taro?

A few other popular names on today like Bublik v Kovalik and Harris v Fucsovics,
Marton is favourite for this match but I dont know whether to back him.

But I guess the better odds is like the handicap -3.5 for Andy here.

And yes, there are a lot of name players in this tournament who are going to play later. Currently Bublik is 1 set ahead against Kovalik but they are tied on the second 3-3 apiece, which Kovalik leading 40-30 right now.

I've read that report too. I actually think it's outrageous how Djokovic is presenting himself. He shouldn't and won't take that vaccine, what arrogance. Top athletes should be an example for the sport and for the youth, but Djokovic does exactly the opposite. They really shouldn't let that guy go anywhere. He thinks he is above the law with his arrogant behavior. He is willing to forgo the big tournaments. The rest of the field will be happy with that

I think its crazy but great for Nadal and Medvedev in particular. I dont want
to have a big discussion about vaccines on a Tennis thread but the vast majority
of us take the vaccine to protect ourselves and others  and the risk of being really ill
because of not having the vaccine far outweighs the risk of getting a possible side effect.

Djokovic says he isnt anti-vaccine but wants the choice to have it or not, well - he has
that but it comes with compromises and/or consequences.

Yeah, saw the same report, and he is even criticize for not taking the vaccine, but that's his personality though, it's his lost if he is going to those Grand Slams and not have a chance of winning them because of his beliefs about the vaccine. Sooner or later, history will tell us how Djokovic's stand on this will tell, but for sure tennis fans might not going to favor him with this kind of outrageous decisions.

@aoluain - if he is not taking the vaccine then obviously, he is anti-vaccine, simply as that, no middle ground, IMHO.
