Yes, I will also go with the underdog here. Nadal is really playing solid and it doesn't matter if it is Medvedev or anyone that he is facing in the finals in a grand slam. For sure he will give everything in this match and prove that he can stay and play with the new generation.

I am also surprised, that Medvedev seems to be that big of a favorite for the bookmakers in this final i mean in the end he is facing Nadal, which is definitely one of the 5 greatest tennis players of all time. I think an important factor for that is his match against shapovalov where it was definitely obvious that he was completely done in the 4th and 5th set physically and only won because shapovalov somehow made so many unforced errors in the 5th set and basically gave Nadal a free win there. If Nadal has a good start into the match and wins the first and maybe even the second set then i think he has a great chance to win it. If medvedev wins the first set then i don't think that Nadal can come back.

Collins dropped an impossible second set lead. This cannot happen at such a stage of the tournament and the biggest final. Losing the set after 5-1 is just insane. Barty is so dominant in women tennis that she plays whenever she want and o most everytime wins the tournament without much effort. Australians i think cannot be more happy with this win.

Barty has shown why she is the better player between the two. Experience does come in handy as she was quite resilient in the 2nd quarter and came back strong and won the match eventually.
Seems like the Australian Open is actually gonna be a happy tournament for the Australians.

Well , I do hope Medvedev beats Nadal that will make him retire from tennis as it's already time for the new generation to kick in. I also truly believe that Nadal have no chance against Medvedev who is in his prime game on AO and Nadal became an interview guy or someone who seeks attention way more than he deserves outside Tennis. Yea , he might be focus and stuff but he's neat near the form of Medvedev or at least this is how I'm seeing things right now...but the final can prove me wrong.

Why would Nadal retire even if he looses this final? Nadal in top form is still unbeatable at Roland Garros... I don't like the attitude of Medvedev so I hope Nadal can win.

And maybe in the strength of Medvedev's comeback win against Felix AA, two sets down and then won the last three. And then he faces another tough one in Tsitsipas and beat he convincingly. Maybe those are the factors that the book makers did see to favor Medvedev.

But I might be against the popular opinion here, as I will bet on Nadal. Both have very high mental toughness but the experience, I will give it to Rafa.

and Rafa to win at least 1 set @ 1.31

The players have just appeared and Medvedev did not get a positive response

From what I've seen in the first few games, it might be a quick and dominant win. Then again, Nadal has turned things around a million times before.

^Rafa is definitely the popular one out here and hopefully that cheering will help him buckle up to make a match of it. It looks a bit better in 2nd set since he added a bit of strength and spin on the forehand but Medvedev is still the better player. It is best of five so a lot of time for momentum to change and if it does, Rafa will capitalize.

He seems extremely fit and now, after he has won the second set also after a very close tiebreak he also has the psychological advantage clearly on his side at the moment. Even now in the third set Medvedev seems to have not much problems at all to win his serve games, while Nadal seems to be under pressure in almost all of his serve games. I think that it is 99% sure now that Medvedev will win the Australian Open this year because i don't think Nadal has the fitness yet to show his absolute top performance level over 5 sets and he would need to do that today to have a chance.

wow that was some second set, 2 breaks for each player. Medvedev had a fantastic
first set but his service game fell off in the second set. I cashed out my bet on Nadal
to win a set when Medvedev broke back for the first time.

Nadal's service game is in the 50's for 1st serve and too many unforced errors into
the net are not helping him.

Fantastic match so far though, some super shots played.
IMO this wont go past three sets.

Now the fun starts, I want too see Medvedev loose it a bit so we can properly test his mental resilience.

I was afraid for my bets when Nadal lost second set after being in front couple of times but this one should be enough for all my bets to pass. Now I can enyoy the match without added stress

I mentioned earlier that I think that Nadal is a much more experienced tennis player than Medvedev, he has played a lot more matches like this and he copes better with the pressure.
