I just watched first 2 sets of this clay classic and it was extremely good tennis from both Nadal and Djoković. Some points were borderline impossible. I expected Djoković to do better after winning that 2nd set but obviously Nadal likes his king of clay mantle and doesn't plan on relinquishing it soon.

Djokovic started the match really bad and didnt look like himself at all since the beggining of the match. Later on he played really good but those missed set points on his serve in the fourth set costed him the win and to make the match longer. Now a rough match against Zverev for Nadal

It looks like Djokovic hasn't come to the form once after the covid-19 vaccine issue that kept him away from playing few tournament. The sets were won consecutively, and the same made the match more interesting. Finally Nadal was able to make it after hard fight. This year looks to be good for Nadal.

Wasn't able to see anything of the match but there was a massive value on Nadal to win. Nadal will have some more difficult matches (against Zverev next round) but I don't see anybody beat Nadal this year so most probably he will win yet another Roland Garros. The only way he can be defeated if his injury really plays up.

Hopefully though, Nadal still has some on his gas tank after that grueling match against Djokovic because that game seems to be the finals for me. Their match will be tomorrow at 8:45 pm local time, so another night game for Nadal in which he has a problem with, but let's see.

Cilic has been quite remarkable in RG so far, to continue his good form into the match
today to beat Rublev is very different to how I normally see him. He took his chances in

I dont think he takes any longer than most players on serve, Nadal yesterday was
taking 28 seconds regularly from when the score was called while Djokovic was around
the 20 seconds.

Specially in the  Cilic vs Rublev match, the score in the fifth set should be perfect 7-6 regardless of who is going to win. I was thinking to go on the Over, most likely it will be covered as well. But I was thinking that Cilic might pull through. Ruud vs Rune is different story, predicting that this much is going to a fourth set for Casper.

I think this is harsh on Nadal. Djokovic didn't beat himself, Nadal beat him. And it's not like Djokovic was struggling at this tournament, he breezed through every match in straight sets until he came up against Nadal.
Nadal can make anyone look bad on clay. If Djokovic is missing shots, this is often because Nadal is putting him in a position where he is likely to miss them. If Djokovic is making "unforced" errors, then likely this is because he is trying too hard, going for riskier shots because he knows that anything less would not be good enough against Nadal.

Agree with this, at least in first 2 sets that I watched there was incredible tennis beeing played and Djokovic would have destroyed any other opponent at that moment. Nadal simply performed on par with his best ever RG perfomances.

We can only question his injury problems since I don't belive it is possible to play like that even if you have some minor discomfort.

He definitely has a foot problem, and has done his entire life... This page has some interesting background on the problem.

It's a birth defect, which he manages with painkillers and a specially customised shoe. In fact it's likely the altered weight distribution due to this solution is what led to the knee problems that have plagued him through his career, too. There is absolutely definitely a physical problem with his foot, which can't be fixed and has to be managed. But perhaps it is misleading that we call it an injury, as it is more fundamental than that. And yes, it is quite astonishing that someone with this condition can become the most successful male tennis player of all time. Apparently he can't remember ever playing without pain.

I have to admit that Cilic really surprised me this year at RG.
His biggest successes, winning the GS in America, and the finals in Wimbledon and Australian happened a few years ago and since then Cilic has been in a big crisis and has not achieved any valuable result in tennis tournaments.
The public in Croatia had already lost faith in him and we expected him to retire from tennis.
Old Cilic would smoothly lose matches like this one in the quarterfinals against Rublev, but this is a new Cilic with great mental strength and stability, and I would say that he is now the favorite for the finals.
If he succeeds, it will be a really huge result, because how many tennis players today, in the age of the big three in world tennis, can boast that they played in the finals of all 4 GS?
Had he been born at a different time, Cilic would probably have won at least 5-6 GS tournaments by now.
Unfortunately, he is one of the most underrated tennis players today.

Čilić was brilliant in the tie-break yesterday, he was hitting everything. He was better in key moments throughout the match and is deservedly in the semifinals.
The tennis they showed wasn't really on the highest level - too many unforced errors and a lot of service winners - quite a boring match to watch.

Čilić has a great chance tomorrow - if he wins against Ruud (unlikely IMO) he will reach the final in all Grand Slam tournaments.

Now he is the favorite to win again and it's going to be huge as it will cemented his legacy and another great story for him. As we all know that prior to this tournament, Nadal is not 100% healthy.

I liked Zverev in the quarter-finals against Carlos Alcaraz. He played much more concentrated and was on his game from the start. In contrast to the round of 16 against Bernabe Zapata Miralles, he was much more aggressive and Alcaraz could not implement his dominant style of play. Now he is in the semi-finals for the second time.

I definitely agree with you. This year Djokovic has lost a lot of matches and sets as probably never in his career as number 1.
There may be several explanations for this debacle, what is certain is that it is not the number 1 that we are used to seeing.
For the bettor it becomes more interesting to bet against him than in favor ...(because in any case the odds are always lower than the average)

If the match goes into 5 sets i think that its more likely that Zverev will win. Nadal to win this match needs to do it quick and fast to avoid getting his injury bigger. But if Zverev plays like against Alcaraz he will win for sure against Nadal

I also think Cilic makes a great impression. And that at his age. One of the most experienced players out there of course. His service is also a great weapon on Gravel. Especially the super tie break in his match against Zverev was impressive, in which he won 9-3. Those are clear numbers. I don't think he's going to win the tournament, but he's still in the semi-finals. That will probably also be the final station.

It seems that swiatek has no competition recently she is really dominating womens tennis, another easy win today against kasatkina 2 0 she will face gauff in the final she is heavily favourites but gauff seem to be in her best shape i think she will be tough to beat but i still think swiatek will beat her 2 1.
