And it was an exciting match. It was 5 hard-fought sets. Both played at their limit and although Zverev had more playing time in the previous matches, Sinner had more problems with his body and fitness. For Zverev it is a great success to reach the quarter finals of a Grand Slam tournament again. There he will play against Alcaraz, who has had much less playing time so far and will therefore be more fitter.

Damn, this was a great match. It was going back and forth between these two. And if I am honest I have to definitely say that I kind of did not expect this outcome from this match. I thought that Sinner was going to be the winner of this match. He did try really hard to get the win as well.  But in the end, I have to say Zverev was the one who really performed better in that match.

But the next match is going to be a lot harder. He is going to face Alcaraz in the next match. I don't think he will be able to win that match, to be honest.

As we know Fritz has never been able to win against Djokovic,  he will be much more determined to break that curse.  So Novak Djokovic will have to perform really well to win the next match.  Of course, we know that the head to head comparison suggests Djokovic is going to be the winner of this match.  I believe the match is going to be pretty competitive regardless of whoever the winner is.  I also do think that Djokovic is going to win however it is going to be tough.
I missed this match and judging by the score, Fritz was only able to provide resistance in certain areas but Djokovic controlled the entire match.

Speaking of the curse, it looks like Andrey Rublev is the player who will try to break his poor results in the Grand Slam quarterfinals, This is the 9th quarterfinal for him, and failed 8 times to advance further to the semifinals, against Medvedev his compatriot certainly won't be easy for him because Medvedev is in Hard courts are tough players to beat, but it will hurt a lot if Andrey Rublev lose for the ninth time in a Grand Slam quarterfinal.

Frances Tiafoe vs Ben Shelton, an interesting match and very likely to be a long match of up to five sets, Shelton used his fast serve to get a lot of points, but Tiafoe managed to come back after the first set and in the third set he had the opportunity to take it so he would lead 2-1

Great match indeed, the final scoreboard looks like it was a very even match but looking
at the stats after the match shows Sinners service game wasnt as good as Zverev's,
54% first serve for Sinner, thats not going to win matches at this level.

Alcaraz is clear favourite for the next match 1.21 v 4.4

Well done to Shelton, he beat Tiafoe in 4 sets and books a spot in the Semi Finals against
Djokovic, tough ask for him to progress to the final.

Actually he probably should have lost. His opponent was definitely a better player compared to him. But he had shown a good heart. She was able to win this match and she definitely played really well to do so. Majority of the people expected Tiafoe to go ahead in this tournament and face Novak Djokovic. But Shelton was able to do the unexpected.

And he is going to play in the semifinals against Novak Djokovic. This is going to be a very hard task for him. After all, he’s going to play against the second-best player in the world. I personally do not believe that he will be able to do the unthinkable again. I believe that it is going to be 70/30 in favour of Novak Djokovic.

I've woke last night just to see Sorana playing as she reached quarter-finals for the first time on a grand slam but the pressure was to much for her to handle as she quickly lost 2-0 against Muchova.

Zhenq vs Zabalenka in a few hours and Zhenq is on her way to produce a surprise and most likely she will reach the finals this year , same as Muchov who looks unstoppable right now.

this is the 8 times that Djokovic has beaten Fritz (!). The USA player has never won against him.
Fritz looked promising through the competition up until the point of playing Djokovic that completely outplayed him. Djokovic knowing that he had defeated Fritz in the seven times that they have played against each other was very confident in his skills to defeat him again for the eight time. Novak Djokovic will now play in his 47th Grand Slam semi-final against Ben Shelton.

I predict another win for Djokovic.

Tonight great showdown of the upper, arguably more "deadly" part of the draw. Two great matches each of them could have easily been a final:

Alcaraz v Zverev

My bet is on Alcaraz, Sascha doesn't look like he's ready for the semifinal of the Grand Slam just yet.

Medvedev v Rublev

This one is trickier. Rublev is in great form, Medvedev is a well-known hard court specialist and a US Open champion. Still my bet will be on Daniil in this Russian derby.

Novak Djokovic again get into the semi final by beating the Taylor Fritz by the sets 6-1,6-4,6-4.Many people thought Fritz going to beat the Djokovic in this quater final, but with the unexpected way Djokovic made the history today. If Djokovic made the sets like this in the upcoming semifinal,no doubt he will be the title winner.By this Djokovic had break the record of Roger Federer by 47 Grand Slam semifinal.

The match of Andrey Rublev also unexpected one,he never had his luck in the quarter final and not able to get into the semifinal in the series of years. The reason behind this match was totally the opponent Medvedev today.Rublev not had luck for the ninth time was the hard for his fan.The fans of Rublev will break his record of continuous loss. But again his bad luck play the major role.

But the next match is going to be a lot harder. He is going to face Alcaraz in the next match. I don't think he will be able to win that match, to be honest.

Although the form curve from Zverev is pointing upwards again, he will not win this match. But I hope it will be a bit more exciting than the last time. Alcaraz won 6:1 and 6:2 in Madred. But at that time Zverev had only recently been able to play without pain. Nevertheless, he is the clear underdog and with about 6 hours more playing time his body has already done more than Alcaraz. If Zverev is mentally at his best, it will be a good match for him.

Djokovic knows how to play against Fritz, before the us open he defeated him easily and again now he destroyed him again and is just for him an easy opponent. Djokovic has an easy way to the final and i think he will probobly win the us open as how good he is playing.

Djokovic is very technical. He used to make game interesting give way for the opponent to play the first few sets and make a comeback. This time he hadn't done it against Fritz. Won the match in an easier way and it is already known and Fritz once again doesn't able to win a match against Djokovic.

Quarter finals between Alcaraz and Zverev is going to be interesting. In the past encounters between the two, Zverev leads winning three matches out of the five played and this time Alcaraz could level it with a win  Smiley

Alcarez really gave no chance to Zverev eh ? I mean , he really wants to "punish" Djokovic and beat him in the finals but I have a feeling that Djoko will beat Alcaraz again if they meet next round.

Medvedev game was kinda the same , with a quick 3-0 and really no chance for Rublev to actually play with tennis.

Its wta semi finals day!!

I love the over 21.5 on gauff vs muchova  , neither of them should win this in a clean 2-0 fashion, greatly expecting a 3 settor

Sabalenka is yet to drop a set so far this open , while this maybe a sucker bet for WTA , i have to go for sabalenka 2-0 here

The WTA often doesn't go according to predictions, but what is certain is that this year there will be a new champion again, as in previous years no one managed to win in a row after Serena William did it during her heyday.
Aryna Sabalenka is the favorite to win here I don't think Sabalenka will have any problem beating Keys unless she loses concentration and Keys was able to take a set before Sabalenka finally returned to her game, but all in all I am quite impressed with the progress of young USA tennis player Coco Gauff and she will really get support from the home crowd in the semifinal match later apart from other USA tennis player Madison Keys.
Several young tennis players managed to become champions here but after that they immediately experienced a decline in performance. If Coco Gauff succeeds in becoming champion, hopefully, she won't be like the champion in previous years who experienced difficulties in her tennis career.

Do not count out on Novak Djokovic who has the record of being in the grand slam finals for a record time and no one comes close and the most title wins in history, it is a matter of time how long he can extend these records so that no one could catch that in the future, my prediction is that he will be winning 5 to 8 Grand Slam tournaments before he retires.

Well he couldnt do it against Alcaraz at Wimbledon this year so it really isnt a
foregone conclusion that Djokovic will win the US Open title.

This is a perfect semi final line up for the tournament, the top 3 seeded players in
the semi's. Shelton has a massive job ahead of him and the Alcaraz v Medvedev
match up promises to be a cracker!

My money is on Djokovic v Alcaraz for the final, no surprises there.

The match between Novak Djokovic and Shelton is actually going to be one-sided in my opinion. I know Shelton has done pretty good so far. But in this match I just cannot think he is actually going to beat Novak Djokovic. In my opinion Novak Djokovic is definitely going to the finals.

The match between Alcaraz and Medvedev is going to be a lot more interesting. The number one ranked player versus the number three. This is surly going to be a treat to watch in my opinion. It will definitely be interesting to see Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic in the finals. But for that to happen, Alcaraz will have to beat his next opponent, Medvedev.

Unfortunately, Zverev could not deliver a fight against Alcaraz. His body simply had no more power. But he probably also suffered a thigh injury during the match. There are many indications of a tear. Hopefully he will be fit again soon. In any case, he can be happy that he will be back in the top 10 after the tournament.
