My bet will be on Sascha as someone who reaches the final for the first time is very unlikely to win in. Stats say so. Even Alcaraz and other star prospects can rarely win their first final at such level.

Zverev had a strong performance against Dimitrov. It is important for him to reach a final again. That only happened once before: At the tournament in Hamburg this year.

But Safiullin showed a great performance in every match. He did not lose a single set in the entire tournament.

I expect that it will not be a walk in the park for Zverev. But Zverevs experience should help him to walk off the court as a winner.

You were right there, that was a 3 set final with two tie breaks in the first two sets.
Zverev got the job done though.

62 - 77
77 - 65
6 - 3

Thats a second title this year for him, he is very slowly getting back to his former
performance levels. It has to be his mental state which has to be worked on, he
still has the skills though.

Earlier this year he won the German Open. The final match against Laslo Djere in the German Open isn't that competing. This time the match was a real fight as Safiullin won the first set through the tie breaker. Further the comeback in the second set winning the tie breaker isn't an easy thing and the third set looked like an easy winning one. The win against Dimitrov in the semi-final match and the experience had kept him on the higher side to progress well amidst the breath breaking performance from Safiullin who had played his first title match.

Zverev still has a chance to reach the top 8 of the ATP list. Then he could start at the ATP Finals for the Top 8 in November.

Yes, Safiullin could've put some more pressure as the consecutive points kept coming and at some point Zverev had the lead 4-2, further Safiullin had the comeback leveling the point 5-5. Further two points from Zverev had the two title winning points. Being on the 10th position and to move forward needs the winning momentum continue with the upcoming tournaments.

The Beijing Open started its matches today, quite a lot of top players were present there and tomorrow some of them will start the first round of matches. Zverev and Khachanov, who recently won the ATP 250 tournament, will also compete there.
Zverev doesn't seem to have any problems facing Swartzman, who has been inconsistent for a long time, while Khachanov will face an opponent who is quite strong from Italy Lorenzo Musetti and this will be quite an interesting match
Alcaraz will also compete there and the first round will be against Hanfmann I think this will be an easy match for him to get through.
But to be honest, currently, I prefer the match in the women's section where several players are trying to get a place in the WTA Final, Maria Sakkari and Ons Jabeur are fighting for that position, and both compete in different tournaments at the moment.

Zverev still has a chance to reach the top 8 of the ATP list. Then he could start at the ATP Finals for the Top 8 in November.
Both of them appeared quite hot in yesterday final match and from the three sets it was clear that Zverev wanted to dominate the game even though he lost the first set but in the second and third sets Zverev made it difficult for Safiullin to make every shot accurately.
Now Zverev is ranked 10th in the ATP and he still needs several wins to enter the top eight in contrast to Safiullin who is currently in 55th position in the ATP.

In the future maybe one of these two players will get a satisfying title but there are still several other young players who are already above them so it will make it a little more difficult to win the title.

Quarterfinals of Toray Pacific WTA in Tokyo look promising:

Swiatek v V.Kudermetova

Pavlyuchenkova v Alexandrova

Garcia v Sakkari

Kasatkina v Pegula

All matches definitely have a three set potential. Pavlyuchenkova is on fire atm, she could cause some serious problems for the fellow Russian. Garcia v Sakkari I guess no comments are necessary, both players are of a very high level. Kasatkina has also been playing very good lately, normally I'd say Pegula but this time it's unclear with the American being tired after a very intensive and successful season and the Russian has chances with her exhausting defensive play.

I also assume that Zverev should have little problems against Schwartzmann. The winner of this match will definitely meet Davidovich Fokina, who won his opening match in 2 sets.

I am also curious about the other match between Khachanov and Musetti. The winner will probably meet Alcaraz.

Yes, matches have come in a better way. Swiatek vs Kudermertova seems like a winning one for Swiatek in the third set. In all the recent semifinal matches Swiatek have lost playing three sets and this time she might be performing better to stand a chance for the title.

In the other match Alexandova seems to be the favourite. Pegula and Kasatkina we can't be sure of the outcome. However to me Pegula looks like the favourite to win. Sakkari vs Garcia gonna be a favourable match for Sakkari as both had met in the previous Abierto de Guabdalajara Open semi final and Sakkari won it in a much easier way 6-3 6-0.

The semifinals will be between Kudermetova vs Pavlyuchenkova and Sakkari vs Pegula.
It was interesting to see that Swiatek was eliminated in a 3-set match and this was Kudemertova's first win over Swiatek, whereas the other semifinalists were able to get through the match more easily, and it looks like Sakkari will be the favorite to win this tournament, she had no difficulty at all facing Garcia.

I also assume that Zverev should have little problems against Schwartzmann. The winner of this match will definitely meet Davidovich Fokina, who won his opening match in 2 sets.

I am also curious about the other match between Khachanov and Musetti. The winner will probably meet Alcaraz.
Zverev faced difficulties in the first set but then he managed to overcome them, and the first surprise was that Tsitsipas was knocked out in the first round, and Khachanov also had to be eliminated in a 3 set match.

Swiatek was able to win this match against Kudermertova. A great win for her in the quarter-final. I didn't say that it was easy for her to win. Her opponent did show a good amount of resilience in this match.

Alexandrova lost the match pretty convincingly against her opponent. She was unable to even win one set in that match. She lost two sets back to back.

Sakkari was able to win easily against Garcia. Took two seats back to back. she is going to face Pegula in the next match which is the semi-final of the Japan open.

Sakkari was able to win easily against Garcia. Took two seats back to back. she is going to face Pegula in the next match which is the semi-final of the Japan open.

Sakkari, who breathed a sigh of relief as champion in Guadalajara, continued this form in Tokyo and reached the semifinals without losing a set. Pegula, making her post US Open debut, also came back well from the break and reached the semifinals without losing a set against the likes of Bucsa and Kasatkina. I expect the two racquets, who are well matched on the court, to break the game upper barrier in this match, which they have comfortably surpassed in their last three matches.

Kasatkina has also been playing very good lately, normally I'd say Pegula but this time it's unclear with the American being tired after a very intensive and successful season and the Russian has chances with her exhausting defensive play.

Swiatek was able to win this match against Kudermertova. A great win for her in the quarter-final. I didn't say that it was easy for her to win. Her opponent did show a good amount of resilience in this match.
Swiatek was unable to win the match against Kudermertova. The match was was won by Kudermertova 6-2 2-6 6-4. In her recent matches Swiatek used to fight and loss the match in Semifinals and quarter finals. Same thing had happened in the Japan Open.

It was great that Pavlyuchenkova won the match against Alexandrova in direct sets. First set seems to be an easy win, and in the second set points have gone closer and finally won 7-5. Both the semi-final match going to be tough as every player are after their best performance in previous tournaments. Particularly I believe Sakkari will lift the trophy.

Watching Sakkari v Pegula now. Things look good for Pegula as she is leading with an early break. It's 4:1 Pegula now and Sakkari looks tired after winning title in Guadalajara. Pegula had some rest after the US Open and this approach pays off atm.

Yes, my bad. I actually mixed up the names. I wanted to say it was Kudermetova who actually won the match. Swiatek shows some resilience. But in the end, she was not able to win. And I also understand and agree that her recent performance has not been as expected. Better performance was expected. But she was unable to deliver at crucial times.

Kudermetova is going to play in the final of the Japan Open against Pegula. I actually think in this final Pegula has a better chance to win. But once again it is going to be unpredictable just because it is women's tennis.

Pegula was able to win against Sakkari pretty easily. Did not even drop one set.

Personally, I think Pegula has a better chance in the final. Of course, I am charging this by the ranking of Pegula and Kudermetova. But the thing is in the final any player has a chance to win in my opinion. Both of them are capable and that's why they were able to reach the finals. Even though I am saying that Pegula will have a better chance in this match, I don't think it is going to be that much of it difference. I think it is going to be like 60–40 in favour of Pegula.

He would have to win several tournaments to make it back to the number 1 spot.

I assume he as to wait until the Australian Open and beat Djokovic there. It could work out if he starts at a few more tournaments like the ATP finals and the Shanghai masters and the Paris Masters, but then the question is what Djokovic's plan is. If he plays two more tournaments and collects some points, maybe makes it to the semifinals, it will be difficult for Alcaraz to get back to the first position.

Hubert had beaten Rublev and on that we can't get into the conclusion. Medvedev is a player who used to give surprising performances. Lets see if this is going to be one such match or disappointment. Hubert is really good and his recent match participation gives clear picture on how he had played against the top list players. Almost every match had got the result through the tie breaker. In the next match, Zverev is undoubtedly the favourite. Alcaraz is historic and this is going to be one such match getting added to his list. Dimitrov's last meet with Jannik Sinner happened in the Miami Masters and it was a win for Sinner and it was an easy win. If this could change this time??

Yup, he will and he is making his run to that spot in Beijing! he doesnt need to play
this tournament to qualify for the ATP finals.

The first Quarter final has been played and Medvedev was too strong for Humbert.
It went to 3 sets, Humbert taking the second but the last set was very decisive 1-6
to Medvedev.

You were correct in your predictions as the Daniil Medvedev match ended with him winning it in 3 sets against a confused looking Hugo Humbert.
Jarry wasn't much of a match for Zverev on his serve even though he won a set it was Alexander all day at this tournament.

Alcaraz is up next against Ruud which I haven't seen play since the US tournaments. So will need to see how he had been playing as of late before this match begin in less than 15 minutes.

Well it turned out to be 4 out of 4, honestly thats rare for me, if only I had done a multi bet !

3 out of the quarter finals were 3 set matches, Alcaraz beat Ruud in 2! He plays Sinner
in the second semi final tomorrow.

Zverev v Medvedev in the first semi final, TBH its kind of shaping up to be a Medvedev v
Alcaraz final...
