What a day of upsets yesterday first with Aryna Sabalenka then with Taylor Fritz.
Both bowing out at the Indian Wells Masters.
Holger Rune winning against the home country favorite at the tournament wasn't looking like it would happen after going down in the first set 6-2. Prematch the dane was 2.49x so the bookmakers knew the young player was in poor form going into this match.
Fritz was just one match point away in the second set of taking the set and the match. But then perseverance took over once Rune knew he had him in the tiebreaker for set two. Winning it 7-2.
Unbelievable comeback and the momentum was certainly in his favor going into the final frame. Winning 6-3 in set three.
Had an all-in and definitely thought I had lost it after the first set but some how Holger found his groove and is to face Medvedev in the quarter-finals.

The more I hear his interviews the more I think he is so grounded and has a brilliant
Tennis brain. Its hard to believe he is only 22 really. The future is looking unbelievable
really and it will be interesting to see how he progresses and changes, he will have to
because other players will get to know his game.

He faces Alcaraz next, this is a massive semi final two young "next generation" players.
He is slight favourite 1.65 and Alcaraz is 2.20, so either was we will make good money,
who to back though? has to be Sinner!

Did anyone witness the invasion of Bees at the start of the  Zverev v Alcaraz match?

a Sinner v Medvedev final in my book.

That is an unbelievable run by Jannik Sinner and didn't realize it til they showed the statistics up during the match of how many consecutive matches he had won so far.
Had an all-in bet last night on him so tell your friend he is my bank too!

The bees were enough to suspend play for nearly 2 hours until they had bee keepers come in to corral them.
There were still a few left after they started playing inwhich Alcaraz said he was worried enough about them.
Night have an allergic reaction if he got stung by one.

Hard to say who will be in the finals because thses semi-finals look tough.

Indian Wells quarter-final match was very surprising between Carlos Alcaraz vs Alexander Zverev and as expected, Carlos Alcaraz could win and move on to the semifinals against Jannik Sinner.
It is said that these two players will provide very competitive match in the semifinals of Indian Wells and for this match, even though it can produce results that are difficult to predict, I would still say that Alcaraz is the favorite, he will win over Sinner and advance to the final.
I believe Alcaraz will still defend the title he previously won.

Hahaha, it was strange incident because the weak really came in lot and made Alcaraz feel an unexpected sting, only this incident brought good luck to Alcaraz because he managed to win.

I'm sure many people will favor Sinner vs Medvedev in the final over others and so do I, and looking at this fact Sinner's winning streak will still continue, maybe at the Miami Open or another tournament in clay court his winning streak will be broken.

Novak Djokovic is certain to miss the Miami Open and prefers to prepare for the clay season, last year he was not good at the opening clay season tournament but managed to become the French Open champion, but this year everything is different and he will again be in doubt to be able to defend the title, there was quite a noticeable decline in his appearance. I know the last time it was Alcaraz when he kicked Djokovic of the throne, but now that Djokovic got eliminated from Indian Wells, Sinner and Alcaraz can both make a good step forward in his direction. This was an unexpected and hefty loss for Djokovic, but he will get over it. He has these moments, I think more often in the tournaments that are not Grand Slams, but still Indian Wells is a big one. Huge game though Sinner vs. Alcaraz and I am undecided who could be the winner.

Ah TBH I havent felt any sort if pity for any Djokovic loss over the last few years,
he is a super Tennis player, has won everything a couple of times and has earned enough
from it to probably trump what we here on this thread earn in a lifetime. He's is doing
alright for himself!

I agree that the semi final later on is more about getting to this final, its points too.
I think we now have 2 definite next generation players to take over from the Top 3
(fab 4) and with Medvedev, Ruud and Zverev Tennis is in good shape.

I really fear for Sinners chances to beat him today. The odds have closed a bit to

It was worse than many had realized when they had to suspend play.

The pictures shown of the invasion from the pests which covered those court cameras completely.
It was so bad the court officials had to call in beekeepers and they showed them using vacuums to transport the insects off site.
Found it quite amusing there is a movie in theatres called The Beekeeper with Jason Statham released a couple of weeks ago then this happens on court at a tournament where you rarely see a suspension of a match due to a bee invasion.

About Djokovic. Didn't know he was missing these tournaments due to his court surface preferences and preparing for the next one.
If this is the reason for missing this one at Indian Wells and possibly Miami, then that is his decision and probably better for his career since it will reflect for the winning percentage on his record. Which is what matters most to him at this point in his career.

Another win for Iga Swiatek beating Kostyuk quite convincingly 6-2  6-1 and it was looking as if her opponent was going to reitre due to a foot injury at the end of the first set. As her previous opponent Wozniacki had done starting the second set.

Today its a great day for tennis lover since there Is a "new Classic" Sinner vs Alcaraz.
This time the Italian player Is the favorite (odds are around @1.70/1.80).
Of course no one would be surprised by his win... Winning 20 consecutive matches at this level Is a a big big result

In Italy all media and news papers continue to celebrate his talent. But Sinner Is completely different from the Classic sport superstar... He has not a super model as fiance, he Is not acting spreading his luxury Life style or his achievement, he Is not "aggressive" but always really kind with every one... Definitely a great man not only a great player!

No regrets for Djokovic at all, I am all for some action at the top of the rankings as long as it is not due to everyone becoming weaker or retiring, but due to new talents finally making the next step in their career and become the world's best players while being fiercely challenged.

I think Djokovic is still up for some intense fights on the court at the Grand Slams as in those tournaments I am sure he feels a different motivation. He is one of the best competitors in the world regardless of the sport, but when 20 years of that level have passed, it is probably more than normal that there is a tiny bit of negligence sneaking into the level of motivation even of the best competitors. He will emphasize the Grand Slams and Djokovic - Alcaraz or Djokovic - Sinner will still be worth watching for a few years I guess.

Was waiting for this match to resume after only having a few hits but two and a half hours later they are still indoors.

Sinner is on a 19 match winning streak without dropping a set going into this one and he is leading the H2H 4-3.
Carlos also has a winning streak but at 10.

I think Tommy Paul is actually very underrated to be honest, he's not there at the very top of the food chain of tennis, but I don't think he's far off either, himself and Alex De Minaur are probably at the top of my currently top most underrated tennis players.

That said, Medvedev is always going to be a huge forceto sweep over even despite being down a set against any opponent, even on an average day, but he was below par for the first set and seemed to have got things figured out for the second, he's currently up serving for the 2nd Set with a 5-3 lead, but complacency still could be the real enemy here, if care isn't taken now, or in a highly probable deciding set.

to see the actual result this morning. I was a good run by Sinner and I'm sure he will have
more runs this year. More and more people must have favoured Alcaraz as time closed
in on the start with the odds down to 1.80 v 1.90 as bitbollo posted.

a famous online newspaper here in italy (repubblica.it) yesterday reported the statistic that between sinner and alcaraz neither of them was ever able to win more than 3 consecutive matches...
And yes! It was conforme the statistica!

Missed both semis yesterday due to rain delay. It was too late and I went to bed unfortunately missing these two great matches.

Missed whole tournament because of poor hours for my time zone. Hopefully I will be able to catch something of the final. Odds on Medvedev seem like bookies are not rating him high enough on his best surface (by some margin). Again difficult to judge without actually watching them play but I think he should get at least one set, which pays nice @1.68

This match is 50/50 for me or maybe 60/40 to Alcaraz, nowhere near what the odds suggest.
