Well done to Musetti for beating Rune, and to get it done in 4 sets, I thought it would
have gone to 5 sets but Rune is not at his best ATM. Musetti faces Tiafoe in the quarter
finals. He should win this also in my book!

I'm sure Talon Griekspoor was laughing his head off as was Zverev when they were
paired off against each other tomorrow, only for the 10th time, its getting a bit tiresome
now, the H2H is 7-2 to Zverev.

It was relatively easy win for Lorenzo Musetti against Holger Rune and confirmed his encounter with Frances Tiafoe in the quater finals. But I believe Tiafoe could be a difficult opponent for Musetti. Though with tie-breakers, Tiafoe is winning all his matches in straight sets and is full of confidence.

On another quarterfinals, Carlos Alcaraz is competing against Tommy Paul. Alcaraz is at one of his finest and should be the favorite here.

The rest two quarterfinals participants too would be decided today. Alexander Zverev against Tallon Griekspoor is live now with Zverev having a lead.

We have seen a lot of matches between Griekspoor and Zverev and they keep on getting matched up lately. Zverev already won the first set 6-4 and it looks like he is gonna get the win against Griekspoor, looks currently better on the field and might even win in straight sets

Griekspoor retired in the second set, it seems like an injury forced him to stop which is quite unfortunate, this is an advantage for Zverev because he can have more rest time for the quarterfinals.

I'm waiting for the Djokovic vs Norrie match, in Geneva Norrie managed to take a set, so maybe he will be the first player who can take a set from Djokovic in RG. Djokovic looks more relaxed without a coach, maybe this will be a breakthrough for him after almost 2 years without a Grand Slam trophy.

I feel bad for every player who has to turn down the racket because of an injury and leave the tournament giving the opponent a walkover. Lately they have reported that Dimitrov has made history because he had to withdraw and give his opponent a walkover.

The Bulgarian has become the first male player in the Open Era to retire mid-match at four successive major tournaments.

Everyone who has made sport himself or is still doing it understands that gaining back trust in your body is hard after one injury, but if a player has to repeatedly withdraw like Dimitrov when he was leading the match, it must be killing his mind now that it was the fourth GS tournament in a row that he had to give up.

Today Zverev benefitted from Griekspoor's withdrawal, but I think Zverev would have won the match otherwise.

It is such a sucker punch to come so far in the grand slam, through the rounds
and getting so close to the finals only to retire to injury. The grand slams are
the pinnacle of the season.

Bublik! has taken out Draper in 4 sets and goes into the Quarter finals! would so
love to see him going to at least the final!

.

On the womens side things are getting really interesting. Boisson a French
player has knocked out the 3rd seed Pegula in 3 sets to set up a quarter final match
up with Andreeva.

Right now Sinner live against Rublev.
I would not say too much but I dont think this Is an hard match for Sinner (First set Just won for 6-1).
Interesting odds for single sets. Both second and third are quoted at 1.14 that considering the winning streak (and consecutive break points) could definitely work a chance...

From the looks of it, unless something extraordinary happens Sinner will finish this pretty easy. Rublev is making a lot of errors in this match.

Sinner is in a class of his own at the moment and Rublev is no canon fodder, but for Sinner he is. By now I begin to think that Sinner could have a career similar to that of the three GOATs. He has three GS titles already and he has the consistency in his game that Alcaraz still wasn't able to find.

Regarding withdrawals, Djokovic went through a few in the last few years too I think. Nadal and Djokovic I believe had to withdraw a few times when they were very far in the tournament. That is part of the game though and at least Djokovic can't complain that he had to deal with injuries during his early, mid and most of his late career. It now began to come after him every so often, but so far he is stable and he doesn't have to fear prime Nadal on clay. Nevertheless, Sinner and Alcaraz on clay are not much less of a threat to his game currently.

Alcaraz is just an overhyped addict, never felt any love for him or his story. Sinner is still young so there is a chance, but I would not speculate about being on the level of the GOATs in the future. All tennis players are just 1 injury away from a career catastrophe and injuries are often chronic if not career killers, that is a major issue. Wait for a few more years to see how he progressed before speculating about it, because at the current point in time he is far off.

Too bad Griekspor retired maybe he could have came back in this match, but this is a good thing for Zverev because he got a lot of rest from this match. Djokovic won 3-0 against Norrie and i see Djokovic playing currently like he is in his prime and if Djokovic beats Zverev he might win the entire thing with how dominant he looks.

Sinner vs Bublik is somewhat a gift for the Italian Player. Bublik at this point of the tournament has already done a record.
I don't want to say to much but there are no losses for Sinner during the match (Just one loss due Sinner forfair in Hamburg).
Plus he plays like a "clown" against him. But nothing new to see here...actual odds for Sinner as winner are @1.03 !

This for me is a very interesting match up. I had to check the H2H because I cant remember these
two playing each other before but they have obviously, 4 times with a 3:1 for Sinner. The last time
they played was in 2023 and both players were two very different then and have progressed
massively in 2 years, more so Sinner.

In this tournament so far Sinner is absolutely unbeatable it seems so its difficult t bet against him ATM.

Bublik since he has become a father has definitely changed his outlook IMO, arguably has become more
mature about his playing, has massive talent and could be a real top player if he could master the mental
side of the game.

He is a dangerous opponent for Sinner, he has taken out 2 top 10 seeded players and looks really focussed,
I'm not necessarily saying he will beat Sinner but could take a set perhaps from the Italian?

The top draw looks more attractive than the bottom draw, Alcaraz is almost certain to go to the final, yeah Musetti has beaten Alcaraz on clay if I'm not mistaken but I doubt this will be possible for Musetti on RG.
While the top draw all four are very likely to go to the final, it looks more balanced in strength.

The bookies see Sinner as the winner against Bublik later, the odds say it's 1.01 for Sinner and 28.00 for Bublik.
3-0 for Sinner? I doubt it, Sinner may win but not easy

The top draw is much more attractive due to so many good players playing in it while in the second Alcaraz dosent have a threat that can make him lose and surely he will be in the final. Sinner should win easily against Bublik there isnt any doubt plus with Bublik style he can go crazy and just play badly. But so far Bublik was good during the tournament

Last quarterfinal of French Open 2025 is already started Zverev Vs Djokovic winner from this match is going to face top seed Sinner in semifinal as Alcaraz is already had opponent Musetti. In this match, start is interesting as Zverev break first point and then won first set with the score of 6–4 now in second set Djokovic is trying to fight back and have good start he is leading second set with the score of 3–1 it's going to be close match as both are in good touch and looking for win.

I silently deleted my pre-match comment here. I was wrong to think the 10 years age gap between the player would play a role on how they perform. Though Djokovich might not be the number one at the moment, he still packs a punch.
Roger Federer too in past had shown similar resilience after being dropped low on rankings and leaving the game with injuries. He came back to winning trophies again. Similarly, Djokovich might come back to win some grand slams.
But my statement about the need for Djokovich to retire still holds, its always better to retire when you still are at podium.

Iga Swiatek has not lost at the French Open for 3 years but her poor form since the beginning of the season is a bad sign as she lost at her favorite tournament.
Not really sure about her decline but it seems like changing coaches affected her a lot, I am not saying Wim Fissette is a bad coach just things are not going smoothly.

The third set not getting a single game seemed very strange for her, I didn't continue to watch the match after the 2nd set because I thought this would be another final for her because she could get out of Sabalenka's pressure but it turned out to be wrong.

Re. Djokovic - yea TBH I am surprised he has been performing so well, I really
thought Zverev would have beaten him this time round. Next up for him is
Sinner, his biggest challenge yet.

Yea she isnt the force she was and Sabalenka has taken her place at the top.
H
Iga's decline* does seem to correlate to switching coaches. I wonder what
the coach / player discussions are like?

I expected Sabalenka to win in this match but i didnt expect that she be so dominant in the third set and win 6-0 against Swiatek. I dont know what happened to Swiatek in the last couple of months. She was so dominant and just dropped heavily in form and it looks like the end of her era

Great pages of tennis today at Roland Garros.
Probably this Is the best selection of players (at least of Italian players Grin ...) that we can get this year for the slam.
I am not expecting surprises for an Italian final.
Musetti vs Alcaraz (in Roma even if Italian player fight for his spot, there were not really chances...)

Sinner could be able to win vs Djokovic, but the Serbian player Is still a serious threath for anyone.

No gambling at least on pre-match...
