I wouldn't call this a bad loss, and even despite Davis missing it's hard to say that Pelicans were favorites to win against probably main title contender. They fought well, and  had 6 points lead in the 4th quarter, but LeBron was so great last night that even Zion with his all time high 35 points couldn't help Pelicans. Ingram and Melli shooting for three was atrocious, those two had 2-16 combined. Next game is against Minnesota on Wednesday, that one is a must win.

Lakers already beat them twice in a row in just less than a month, that would really tells a lot about how they will perform if they will reach in the playoffs, if they do they will be rank 8 and of course they will play with the Lakers with a home court disadvantage.

That will be the case if he gets careless with his playing styles.
As long as he knows how to land then maybe it will take long before he feels the soreness.
Look at Lebron James. Just how much weight his feet carries everyday but up until now he doesn't have that bad injury with his legs.
It's about being healthy and with the right training on how to land.

LeBron mastered the art of durability. He knows how to position himself and used his body wisely so he could prevent himself from having a career ending injury.

He managed to make his body sustain the force that will all end up in his feet considering how much he weighs.
For me that is a difficult task to make.

Give the guy credits. He changed the way Grizzlies play and they are 3 wins away from the Pelicans.
If he plays harder then he might really experience a playoff game even being just a rookie.

Just 3 games, I would still think they are in close competition now and the fact that Memphis is still in top 8, they have the advantage.

Agree with that trade off but going to no. 1 spot would really be hard.

It will be difficult for this team to climb and get the number one spot from the west side, Lakers and Clippers are doing great and with a healthy
selections before the next round they are very competitive to win every match that they have.
It will be difficult for the rockets to grab that spot not unless both LA's teams will run players management and rest most of the stars.

Lebron also spends over a million dollars per year only to his body. Sure dude is probably one of the richest athletes of all time and he is probably in contention to be one of the richest people on earth when his playing days are over with his amazing investments however he was the one who decided to spend that much money to his body, he could have been like all other players who bankrupted as well or anywhere in between but he decided against it and spends so much money to stay fresh.
Dude is said to use cryogenic machines to keep his body young as well and that is seriously absurd enough to maybe not believe it. Not everyone can be Lebron and we should stop requesting THAT much from other players, he is just too good on everything he does.

 Do not forget that Rockets had this trade late into the season and they were already not ranked at the top when the trade happened so expecting them to be at the top after the trade would have been unrealistic. They have been alright since the trade, not saying they are better compared to lakers or clippers but they are alright and it is working a lot better than they expected. Robert Covington has 3+ blocks in the last 6 games right now which Capela has never achieved before for example. Not saying Capela will not be missed but things are working out.

 Everyone keeps claiming that the small ball is the way everyone is going but in reality it is not the small ball that is getting more popular, it is the shorter people who can play better compared to centers and not making any difference when the center leaves, so if your center gets benched and you put a small forward into the center position and you do not miss your center, there is really no need to force your center into the lineup. Some teams use centers like denver and sixers, some teams do not like warriors didn't or rockets are now not using, its all a strategic decision depending on the line ups.

Nah, I don't think they can just go and push themselves to make the number 1 spot in the West with their small line-up. Sure it was a success, sooner or later it will caught up with them specially when we enter the playoffs. Teams are going to re-adjust with them and we might be seeing other teams playing very small to be able to match with the Rockets.

There is roughly around 35 to 36 games left and the current number 1 in the Western Conference, LA Lakers, are 7 games ahead against Houston. Not unless the Lakers try to lose their games and lose the privilege of being the number 1 see I don't see this from happening. Lebron James and the Lakers will try to win as much games as they can so that they will have a much easier playoff series facing of the 8th see in the first round. I know that Harden and Westbrook will be chasing this but I don't think that they still have a lot of games left to still be in the number 1 seed in the west. However they are just 2 games behind against the Clippers and the Nuggets so I wouldn't be surprised that they will be the 2nd or 3rd seed in the West

They will likely to be the number 2 than the number 1 but it's not impossible it will happen since Rockets now are playing like they are dominant basketball. Last time I remember when they played against the Lakers, they won by double digit and that was without Capela, and we thought Lakers would kill them on the board since Rockets playing small ball but we did not see that.

The Rockets are talented enough to play a small ball and still competitive that can beat any teams in the regular season. But playoffs has a different atmosphere. I have a strong feeling the Rockets will struggle to win a 7 game series if they face a team with a dominant big man like AD, Jokic, or Gobert.

As you said, playoffs have a different atmosphere, therefore, Rockets will be a different team too, which is expected. This team is used to be in the playoffs, including their players so the adjustment should not be that hard even they will play small for the first time.

Not rooting for the Rockets but I think whoever team they will face on the playoffs, they shouldn't take the small roster of Rockets as a disadvantage to this team. Rockets already played 15 games without Capela and Tucker act as their Center and they managed to win 11 games out of that. A good preparation and strategy test for the upcoming playoffs.
