Is it said in the 6th episode that it is the truth?
Nah, nothing like that was mentioned in the episode 6. That is still just a rumor, nothing else. I think that the reason  for that break is more simple- pressure due all that gambling affair thing + death of father.  As they mentioned in the documentary, when you are so successful and popular as Jordan was back then, people will get annoyed and will start all kinds of crazy theories, and will look for affairs. After all, what is wrong with him wanting to get away for one evening and gamble a bit?

One thing I don't get is Pippen. I understand that he was annoyed with the bad contract he had, but it is his fault for signing up such a long one, no one else to blame. He wanted to play it safe and secure himself in case of injury, but later he wanted increase, something that owner wasn't obliged to do. You can't have it both ways. Maybe it is unfair, but that helped Bulls to build such a competitive team, by having their 2nd best player underpaid.

Kukoc finally got few minutes in ep 5, as I expected when 1992 Dream Team was mentioned. His career was hampered due that stupid Pippen&Jordan vs Krause feud..that was an asshole thing to do. Just a glimpse of Kukoc, and what kind of player he was, his clutch shot for win vs Pacers, after Reggie Miller started celebrating too early  Grin

He also had a similar average this season in his previous season with the Mavericks, the 2016-17 season.
They let him go and then they take it back, so I think Curry will stay with the Mavericks for awhile since his role is not really a starter and he provide good minutes.

I think that is because he proved something to the Dallas Mavericks management.
Some management tend to make errors like this.

IMO, it is not the stats of Seth for me. It is how he moves on that floor whenever there is a call for defense.
That cannot be seen on records but scouts do take note of that.
Keep him, that is all I wish. Make them the new generation of splash brothers.  Grin

You are right, we cannot see his defense on the stats but we who are watching him play, we will see it, I've seen how Seth Played and I like how he does his defense on his opponent, we can trust him and he is a cold blooded shooter as well.

I'm halfway to finish watching the episode six.

Michael gambling just to free he's mind a couple of hours in basketball with his father after an upset loss.

After all the gamblings he did, and media/talks about it.

"Stern: No penalties for Jordan; case closed"

There is goes, just as I thought. Thank you.

Thank to you too for the broad expanation.
Yeah, it is just a conspiracy theory and this happens with stars that are on the top.
Maybe he got some problems with managers or whoever is handling him and that starts a fire to attack against him.
It did happen with Kobe too, the rape case. People who want money from stars.

Yeah, Jerome Krause do really want them all out and I think he is just using the age of them as a reason behind it.
Damn even Phil Jackson is in his prime at that time and they given him just a year of contract.
It sucks, but look what he did, he went to Lakers and gave them a championship.

...

You damn spoiler!  Lips sealed I haven't watched it yet bisdak40!  Grin

Well if that is true then  there are a lot of reason for him to do it.
First is the death of his Dad.
That was all a "big question" to all of us.
It is really done by the Mafia or Michael is already having problems financially due to his gambling addiction and his Dad was just dragged by it.

But all of this are still conspiracy as I read thru some articles.

And he has the money to gamble playing golf with his friends and how much per hole they are talking about? $10k? Jordan can sustain it because he has the money as per Stern. And Jordan didn't talk to media but he prove himself by winning against the tough NY Knicks and winning the championship that year. Jordan is really competitive in every aspect, and he will not just wanted to beat you, but choke you as well. Lol.

^ Dude lost his father and he wanted to play baseball in his loving memory, why did anyone made that about gambling debts I would never know. I mean think about it, let's say Michael gambled more than he can chew, he owed some mafia people some money for losing a lot of games, in tunes of millions of dollars let's say, how does Mike quitting basketball for 2 years would really solve that issue? How could he pay them back if he quits?

What is the reasoning behind saying that Jordan had a gambling problem and he quit basketball? Like what is the connection? Shouldn't he played even more and get a lot more endorsement deals, accept all the money he was offered just so he could pay the gambling debt if that was the case? Quitting basketball and gambling addiction really has no connection in my mind what so ever, like literally zero connections.

From watching the series I get the understand that Jordan was getting tired of the game already, he was basically relieved that the season was over, he should have been the happiest person alive to be the best player on a team that had three in a row, yet he looked more like "it is finally over", I think that plays a lot into him quitting basketball, when you see your job as something that is hurting you instead of seeing it as something fun, you start to question, and when you are as rich as Jordan and even when you stop you have a stream of income that still hasn't stopped in 2020, I guess it is only reasonable to quit whenever you want because you don't have to work, its not like he has to put food on the table by going to work, dude was a millionaire, he was making tens of millions outside of basketball every year. So combine that freedom to quit and that much money plus all the media backlash and all the troubles, it made sense for him to quit.

Great summary. I am sorry I don't have the merits anymore. Could have gave you some.

Father's death.
Media making fuss that it was the Mafia which hit them.
Media made MJ the apple of their eye.
Gambling issues which should just be normal but was exaggerated by the media.
Exhaustion.

Sum it up. It is like 70 percent of it is the media's fault.
2 years out. It could be a strategy or he was just really tired. Again with just conspiracy theories. We don't know what he is feeling back then.
He could be devastated with all that is happening around him. He just want to have fun with all the money he made.

Despite all of this we all know he love basketball more than any sports.
He still came back and made history.
All that negativity around him should be buried. I think that is what he really want to say.
He used all of that emotion to strengthen him and proved it on the basketball floor.

He already won their first 3-peat so there's nothing to proved at that point. He was the famous basketball player that time so we understand where he is coming from. No more competition and the passion is not there.

But when he quit he continue his sports, go to baseball (minor league), didn't work out, then decided to make a NBA comeback and chase their second 3-peat. Of course he still made a lot of money for his second comeback and again quiet his detractors the second time around.

Yeah, I agree, and this is nothing new. Media have been always like that, and won't ever change, you know, in media popularity counts as money, and so whatever gets eyeball and eyeball would bring them dollars even if it is uncalled. And in addition, even the individuals always make weird stuff in the net, on whoever gets popular at a current time. They exaggerate everything, they pull claims that sometimes doesn't even have a single connection, make a story and all. The bad thing is that sometimes, the community gets easily swayed by such false information without even checking the real narrative behind.

It can even destroy one human being for a false article and they could still get away from it.
Just remembered that photographer who claims he own Lebron's photo and is trying to sue Lebron for grabbing it just to post in IG.
The heck!

Facts, they are missing this for most of the times and they are already trying input just theories in newspaper.
It is madness and yet they still want press freedom.  Grin Funny broken system of the world.

yeah, indeed, press coverage is doing a lot of false news / speculations, and you can not help it
and this sudden pause in all sport competitions made a great terrain for any news, just to have some coverage, you have to publish something, even when there is no NBA at all

Yeah, I agree, and this is nothing new. Media have been always like that, and won't ever change, you know, in media popularity conts as money, and so whatever gets eyeball and eyeball would bring them dollars even if it is uncalled.

They are not really helping since instead of making people excited it turns out people are angry and will not interested for any further news about the speculation of there comebacks that's why I'm not following any medias related with NBA right now since they are really confusing.

Much better to wait for the virus vaccine to came since this would be more real and if this gonna happen we will get back to normal.

They just want to keep their jobs even though it is a made up story.
That is how they will be paid now since they cannot find a reason to get out.

Article creation must be really high right now if there will be a statistics to it.
Also, facebook pages and tweets.  Grin

All I know is we won't really find the truth unless the one who did it says he is guilty or someone beside him all the time will tell everything.
But, there is still need a proof that he is always with MJ. (This is still about the gambling addiction of MJ right?)  Grin

I think between media being so harsh on him, his father being murdered just at the off-season, the Olympics that tired him so much, dude just had too much on his plate.

Moreover, everyone thinks it is awesome to be a superstar, an icon like him but the documentary shows that dude basically didn't lived at all, he was living like a machine, just going to practice, going to do charity stuff, go meet with sick kid at the front row, go sign some papers, go meet with the fans, start the game, end the game, talk with media again, and after all of that, all of that is over, he gets to his hotel room and lights up a cigar and that is the only time he can relax.

Is it worth it? Sure in the end I am sure it worths it, it must be rewarding, but after a while you can't deny that being that successful limiting what you want to do and what you can do must suck, you are the most famous person in the world with tens of millions of dollars in the bank but you just go from hotel to hotel and game to game, must be terrible feeling.

The fact is that contraversy sells and it makes papers sold, in 92-93 era of course it was paper newspaper, it wasn't online just yet so we know that there was no clickbait online news just yet, but still at those times if you wrote scandalous headlines there will be more sold. Now if you are "Jordan is an all around decent guy" you will not sell too many newspapers, sure to a point you will, they did it for years with like "Jordan scored 55, what a great player" and all that but people got bored.

So what did they do? They decided to make news about how Jordan is breaking down and how he was a gambling addict and all the bad things they could find about him since that would really sell newspapers. All the TV shows also talked about it because it would be watched as well. So basically this all comes down to money, attacking Jordan became more lucrative for them then supporting him (maybe except in chicago)

We all know know in our heart who Michael is specially those who had been following him since the beginning.
We are not just fans anymore, he is like a part of us now.

This just popped out of my chrome application.

https://8points9seconds.com/2020/05/05/indiana-pacers-evaluating-timberwolves-trade-myles-turner/

Quote
Dylan Jackson put together a great hypothetical trade breakdown for Timberwolves fans at Dunking With Wolves looking at how Myles Turner could be the Wolves’ third star if they trade for him.

It's just a blueprint if ever Pacers will ever trade him. But I doubt that.  Grin

Right, you dig in to newspaper before and not your smart phone.
There are dfferent kind of news now and you don't even know what is real or not.
Anyone could just make a story now with their facebook accounts and leave it there without even noticing it is also being read by people who might believe in it.
The credibility of the news now is lower than before since there are applications who could make you look like a journalist.

So what did they do? They decided to make news about how Jordan is breaking down and how he was a gambling addict and all the bad things they could find about him since that would really sell newspapers. All the TV shows also talked about it because it would be watched as well. That's another story. When some anchor reaches a high trust rate, fans will believe anything they will say.
But in my opinion, whatever they did back then, Jordan is still a superstar in the whole world.
They could just not trample the facts which he did prove. He and the Bulls are champions and that's it.

Correct, people already knew how great Jordan was and if you will report things according to his stats then it will not get any additional interest, those reporters who begins to write about Jordan's gambling activities creates headlines back then, those stories about his engagements with sports gambling and casino gambling really makes decent money to the publishers.

That is so true. Controversy sells. That is how it is in real life regarding news agencies. Why should a headline saying "Jordan is a great dad" sell? That does not spark anything in anybody's mind. You say "Jordan is now addicted to gambling, losing millions" and that's something an ordinary man would pick up. So everybody's specifically writing that and let everybody else entertain themselves and their imaginations with it.

That's the media, they always report something that is negative because it catches the eyes of the many, we already know that Jordan is great both as a player and a dad, so it's not new anymore but they report that Jordan is gambling or has a gambling addiction, people will begin to speculate and that makes the story very interesting.
