Correct, Blazers are rebuilding around Dame Lillard unless he leaves the team too. But if they can surround him with a good player, like a second option and then players that understand their roles maybe Portland will progress next season. It's just sad to see that Dame might have been had his best years with the Blazers and yet was not able to bring any ring for the City.
Truly sad but it's not his fault and Trail Blazers fans knows that and so does their management. All they could do is bring more players that will magnify the greatness of Lillard. He is like DeRozan back in Toronto but look at him now reaping all the hardwork he did and the addition of Coach Pops discipline. Chicago Bulls might make it to the Finals with a full healthy roster. Trail Blazers just need to find the right people to surround him, built a chemistry and who knows, they might make it next time to the crown. Most team inside NBA is now equipped by stars and roles players and that's how the management is also trying to build a good surrounding for Lilard. It's my opinion as to how I see what they are trying to do here, unless Lilard has other plans only time can tell what path he's looking. Trade deadline is nearing and after those trades that being done, hopefully they'll be able to work this out and make Blazers back as a good title contender from the west.

EDIT: Harden has been traded to the Sixers!
Just read the report from Chams... Looks like Harden for Simmons is a done deal. Pretty exciting move for both teams as Simmons wasn't playing and Harden has been terrible this year. I think it's a win-win for both teams as a result. I think Harden and Embid makes a better combination than Embid and Simmons. I'm not sure how Simmons will fit in with the Nets, but I think given that Kyrie and Durant both love to shoot the ball, his style of play won't be as out of place as it was with the Sixers. I'm looking forward to seeing Simmons play again and although I'm not sure if he is a "big 3" type of guy, he'll definitely have a chance to prove himself. It can't be worse than the Harden experiment. Yeah I hear what you're saying here, but I'm a bit skeptical on if this truly helps the Nets in terms of championship asperations. Harden may have been having a down year but he's still considered a super star and with him they truly did have a "big 3", now they've got a "big 2" , and Durant is hurt (per usual). I know Simmons is a solid player but he's no where near the shooter of Harden, so I just feel like when it comes to the playoffs and championship asperation, this hurts. When those 3 were actually all healthy their win/loss record was very impressive. I think Kyrie is still only playing in some road games right? So right now in half their games their best player is Ben Simmons? I certainly see their struggles continuing until Durant is back. Will be interesting !

Yes, it's a win-win for both teams, exploring for another opportunities it's exciting to see what would be the next thing to happen once these two star players start to perform wearing new jersey. I'm more on Simmons if how he can help still young and a good 2-way player, if he can build a good chemistry within the Nets squad, this trade might work.

Or... is this how powerful Daryl Morey is to make things happen so they will have a shot for the championship. Now, the 76ers just needs to wait for Harden to heal while the Nets will have a new pointguard that may change the trajectory of their future. We might see the Nets win again if ever Simmons will work out with the rest of the team. Yes, its exciting. A bit of twist at the Eastern Conference.

This is a crazy deal. The 76ers got Harden and Millsap, while the Nets got Simmons, Curry, Drummond, and two first-round picks. I know that the 76ers really wanted to get Harden, but it seems to me that they gave too much for him. As for Simmons, it's worth noting that he hasn't had a game practice since June, and he scored an average of 14 points per game last season. So I also don't expect that he will be helpful to the Nets.

I guess this is just right, and finally, we will see Simmons be playing again, and he is lucky because he will be playing in a championship team which is the Nets. Big news in the NBA, let's see which team will be successful with their decision, good luck to both.

I keep saying that if they didn't do the westbrook trade, they would have been much much better but how would they know that? I mean getting a person who had 3 seasons of triple double averages (which is so unlikely that only one person managed one season of triple double before) was a good idea. I mean I get that people think that he is not the player he used to be and maybe that is true, but last year during washington's playoff run, dude had insane last 20-30 games as well, he was amazing there during the last parts. So, I feel like Lakers made the right choice with what they had in their hands and I would have done the same thing as well. That trade not turning out to be great is a shock to them as well as to us, who would expect Westbrook to suck THIS much this season, I mean maybe not be great and all but not this horrible.

Sorry but I don't think it's the right choice, Westbrook had the numbers, once an MVP but he does not blend with the Lakers, look how they are struggling now, the Lakers were better before the Westbrook trade, so the decision was wrong IMO.

Yes you have plenty reason, but you have to know you cant have a lot of stars and make them play good together, the wholes teams know the star allways want to have the ball or be the center of reference but if you have 2/3 stars or more how this can be possible. In the end i feel like Russel Westbrook the final months is playing bad to tell the bosses he wants the transfer

I'm sure he is dong his best, trying to suit up with the system of the Lakers, but it looks like the system did not work for him, so the best option is to let him go through a trade

... Nope he's not lacking with leadership skills since we see how harden adjust to his current line up and can able to provide quality number to help up his team
He has a pretty high assist per game with the Nets which is a good sign he's trying but I'm also counting his days with the Rockets as coderben said "at whatever team he plays". Another thing is that leadership goes beyond what we see on the court. Maybe he needs to impose himself more like what MJ and Kobe did in their respective teams. I think Lebron is pretty vocal too. He cannot do that because they have kyrie on the team which is a huge headache to them. So I guess they need to eliminate the main problem on their team because if kyrie will still act like that for sure this can totally destroy their team chemistry. If Nets management could only trade kyrie then provably we can see how Durant and harden perform well, but unfortunately they can't do thus since kyrie always want to steal the show and want to be the main star on the team. I guess we'll have to drop this discussion for now as he is traded to the Sixers. He won't have any problem with Irving anymore hehe. Let's wait and see how he works with Embiid and the rest. ..... https://www.nba.com/news/nets-sixers-james-harden-ben-simmons-tradeBrooklyn receives:
Ben Simmons Seth Curry Andre Drummond 2022 first-round pick (unprotected) 2027 first-round pick (protected)
Philadelphia receives:
James Harden Paul Millsap That was an excellent trade by the Nets. Simmons could finally play and I bet he's more motivated than ever. Seth Curry could fill the outside shooting that will Harden will leave behind.

Lets see lets see. Anyways, do you think this was one of the worst last day tradeline? I think Yes besides the Harden-Simmons trade i really dont see one mega bomb in the last minutes. I know we live in a era of full comunication so its difficult to dont know before a trade was made, but i was awaiting more important trades.
In the other hand we talk so much of the teams who trade players but..... I see teams who doesnt trade any players, like DENVER (correct me if im wrong) (Bryn Forbes not count).

Regardless of the system, let's see first if Ben Simmons would be able to adopt his new role to the Brooklyn Nets. Somehow, his absence might trigger his best performance as surely, he misses playing in the league. Now that everything was now settled, what fans can at least expect is, both teams won on the trade. Now finally done deal, no more distractions now to Ben Simmon and he can now finally move on.

I'm looking forward to seeing Simmons play again and although I'm not sure if he is a "big 3" type of guy, he'll definitely have a chance to prove himself. It can't be worse than the Harden experiment. Harden is no longer performing the way fans are expecting him, while Simmons, till this date, is not playing. I just slept for a few hours and now I'm seeing this blockbuster trade. I thought that this will not happen but.... yeah it is what it is. Both of them have pros and cons but just by seeing at the players that both teams got, I will pick Nets as the winners in this trade. For the Sixers, you traded Simmons that is not playing obviously and many players including Drummond which is the second big of the team and the sub of Embiid. With him out, who will be the 2nd big of the team?? I looked the roster of the Sixers and they don't have any big that has the same height as Drummond or at least as near as his height. It will be hard for the Sixers to defend especially the paint with Embiid out and take note that he is also prone to injuries. Speaking of injuries, Harden also has a hamstring injury that is until now hindering his performance. This is maybe one of the reason why he can't play like the way he used to when he was in Houston. The pros though is that, their offensive power increases drastically with Harden in the team. We know that he can still put up huge points and can initiate as well. For the Nets, you got Simmons. A player who can't even shoot the ball and can't even shoot threes. Well, there is a chance that he can develop more skills with his stint in Brooklyn but if he will not develop skills especially shooting then he will be a liability to the team like he was in Philly. Brooklyn is one of the best teams offensively and you will put a player that can't even shoot? Maybe they will utilize his defensive skills since he is a good defender. I just hope that Simmons will be a better player in Nets and develop more skills. The pros though is you got Curry and Drummond. A good shooting guard that probably fall down in the 2nd unit once Durant and Irving is healthy and will play regularly and Drummond which is a big that Brooklyn needs right now because they aren't that good when it comes to defending the paint. If it is only Harden-Simmons trade I will go for Philly but with many players 76ers needed to trade just to get Harden, its the Nets that is the obvious winner of this trade.

Huge deals this trade deadline.
I think that the 76ers probably overpaid to get rid of Ben Simmons. They have now gotten rid of a legitimate contributor in Seth Curry and also gave up substantial draft stock which is not a good thing whatsoever.
But hey, perhaps the locker room is getting very toxic right now in which case this is probably warranted.

Was surprise that Drummond was also included in the package, I mean he has log good minutes when Joel was resting and putting huge monster rebound. I guess that they really wanted to get rid of Ben Simmons and that is the consequence, Curry their best 3 point shooter and the big guy and then 2 big future first round picks? And also for the Nets, they spend a good chunk of money to acquire and make the big 3, but I guess it doesn't matter anymore, injuries and the Kyrie drama really put the team in this position right now.

That's surprising. Steve Nash made it clear that they need Harden but it feels like he has no say to whatever the management will do. Or... is this how powerful Daryl Morey is to make things happen so they will have a shot for the championship. Now, the 76ers just needs to wait for Harden to heal while the Nets will have a new pointguard that may change the trajectory of their future. We might see the Nets win again if ever Simmons will work out with the rest of the team. Yes, its exciting. A bit of twist at the Eastern Conference. Yes, I was also under the impression that Harden will be at least untouchable up to the end of the season. But guess what? when the management want to shift you, they will, just like what they did here for him. 76ers though give up a lot of their players and future picks, so they will feel the weight of this trade for now because Harden is still injured. As for the Nets, lets see how Simmons will contribute, if he can play right now and then bring a W for them, then good.

The Brooklyn Nets wanted to preserve their playoff spots and they can still go to fix their roosters that's why we see this trade happened today. Now that they have some new players that are healthy, they can at least get some wins to stay in the top 10 until the star players return to the court. Brooklyn Nets won the trade this time and all eyes are on Ben Simmons, let's see what he will showcase now that he's on the Nets.

Nice trade for 76ers, I don't know what would Nets do with Simmons. Drummond is a good addition and first round draft picks may come with good players in the long run but all these don't worth for Harden. They could get better players for Harden, I don't think they used him for a good trade. Harden and Embiid may work well just like Shaq and Kobe or a better example, Mutombo and Iverson. I guess Sixers expect at least conference finals this year after this great trade.
