There is no safe guarantee in investing shitcoins. It's just a leveraged way to make the most out of your bitcoin investment. 99% of all the altcoins will be dead within 10 years. If you want a safe investment you have to do your research first.

I don't think Bitcoin would have the number of followers it has today if altcoins didn't exist. I think it's fair to say that a large number of people (if not most) got into Bitcoin primarily because it allowed them to dream of riches that would just not be possible with their regular jobs. The problem is that when these people joined Bitcoin in 2012 /2013, it was already too late for them to accumulate substantial amounts of BTC, they could only listen to awe-inspiring stories as told by the early Bitcoin miners. The emergence of altcoins played a vital role in rekindling the excitement/dream that anyone can hope for riches. Every new altcoin that comes out has it's own inner circle of mining hopefuls, just like Bitcoin in its early days. This ensures that the fire/enthusiasm relating to digital currencies in general is maintained.

One major function of bitcoin is that it is the base currency in digital coin. People can use it to buy/sell altcoin. Without altcoin, a big portion of its function is missing. The exchange transaction volume will reduce.

Bitcoin can still survive without altcoin and I think if there is no altcoin bitcoin price is higher than its current price.

This only happens when people are still interested in bitcoin when there is no altcoin. Many people are interested in altcoin because they are mineable with GPU or CPU. The mining is not centralized like bitcoin.

bitcoin without altcoin is like soup without salt , bland taste . and also not exciting , there is no comparison in global currency transactions . and when that happens it will monopolize bitcoin transactions

Without altcoins, you would never know what else could be done in the areas of crypto currencies and blockchian. You wouldnt know that it is possible to have faster confirmation times than 10 min, that the block size does not need to be fixed, nor that your transactions dont have to be public in the blockchain for everyone to see, etc.

There's no point in having altcoins anymore, maybe if you really like a project and want to support it at the early stages then yes, an altcin has a reason to exist, but in the future everything will run under sidechains as a part of the Bitcoin blockchain and everything else will be pretty much irrelevnat at that point.

The alternative cryptocurrencies are a valuable research mechanism which help keep the project fresh.  They provide a means to stress test different applications of blockchain technology which constantly produce valuable information necessary for the success of the bitcoin experiment.  Bitcoin is an evolving project and the altcoins help promote the platform's evolution.

Doge may have promoted bitcoin a bit as a meme(being a crypto-currency), other than that I don't think LTC or any other shitcoins actually influence bitcoin in any(positive) way.

I agree. I guess altcoins are inevitable and could be needed as a viable alternative, but they are actually not needed at all, it's just all BS, a bunch of nerds coming up with slightly different and "better" ways of doing things that no one cares about. Hell, people don't really need or use Bitcoin itself so go figure.

The only altcoin I was aware of before I got into Bitcoin was Litecoin, Doge was also in my radar but I couldn't really explain or care about what they were, just digital money or tokens you could exchange.

I think that altcoin are actually helpful to Bitcoin.  Lets say someone like me has found an altcoin before finding out about Bitcoin.  This is how I found bitcoin.  I first found BCN and stated mining it.  When I started other searches, I found Bitcoin and have been playing with this ever since.

I think people need Bitcoin more than ever right now... Look, the fiat system is bound to collapse eventually IMO. All fiat is, is notes based on trust in government, and you can clearly see that trust in government has been rapidly declining as time goes on.

Let's think of fiat in ways of digital currency. There's no legitimate reason why Central Banks create more notes, they just create more so it looks like inflation isn't taking place, when looking through the years it most certainly is. Bitcoin is a limited currency with a progression curve that one can predict what the inflation will be at a given time. Fiat isn't backed by anything or created in a manner that makes since, it's just nothing more than a couple old rich white guys who have control over everything essentially when it comes to the global macroeconomic spectrum of things.

Bitcoin is revolutionary, because it allows humanity to use a currency that is not based on trust in government or central banks... It's based on math.

they are more helpful in redistributing the bitcoin wealth among those that were not early adopters, like me

it's thanks to altcoin, if now i have some bitcoin, without investing my life in it, so from this point of view they are good

I think they complement each other. Altcoins got some unique features and so does bitcoin.
Having their own promotion done most altcoins bring people also closer to bitcoin.
