Do I have to contact money gram aswell to have them investigate the refund? I think Im more than fair to ask for a refund at this point. No service or product has been delivered, and noone can tell me when it will be delivered. I appreciate u working with me, and hope Im not getting a run around.

ZipZap have agreed to handle the refund, if they do not handle it within a reasonable timeframe please inform me and I will chase them up.

You are right that it's entirely reasonable to ask for a refund, and if ZipZap are not able to help you we'll find another way to get your money back to you.

Hi Guys,

I am really new in the BTC world and I made maybe a giant mistake by putting most of my paycheck this morning into a BTC order meant to go to Bitstamp. I was unaware of the hang ups and stall that happen, and I take responsibility for acting blindly. It's just I had done this about 3 times before, very smoothly, so it didn't really cross my mind that they could get hung up.

So anyway I put in a Moneygram about 9AM CST which I guess is like 3PM GMT, and it's been 10 hrs. I received within the first hour that Bitinstant had processed the order, but the funds did not arrive at Bitstamp. Rachel did reply to my email this morning saying it will be a while and then she would put it through when the reserves were up. I just don't know what I am looking at here, and I am pretty concerned since I put such a large chunk of my weekly check in.

I have a wallet elsewhere that I could receive funds, a couple actually, if Bitstamp is not an option right now. Here are my details:

OrderID: 5090dc08-95f5-4063-a410-70fb309581dd

EventSentAt: 1362158634.49

Thanks for anything you can do or any information...

Oh cool, Gareth. Thanks. I did send the PM with the wallet info. I do not know how to see if it is going through or not because I don't see it in my outbox.

Just create a Mt.Gox account if you don't have one if Bitinstant is more 'ready' to send you your funds there.   Really, it takes 5 minutes with no verification required.   Then convert to BTC and withdraw to whatever exchange you are using.   Keepin' it simple.

Hey Dapper. Thanks. They did ask me if I had an alternative address where they could send the funds. I am just waiting to hear back from support. I can't tell if my PM is going through or not.

My Bitinstant deposit made yesterday morning went through OK but never reached Bitstamp. Moneygram confirms the payment was made to ZipZap. BitInstant site suddenly went down shortly after and suddenly announced it would be down all weekend.  No reply from ZipZAap support but Bitinstant finally replied with the following:

"We currently are experiencing technical difficulties, as you can tell by our website. We also have low reserves on the exchanges. Our engineers are hard at work to resolve these problems and as soon as our reserves are replenished we will do a manual transfer. Rest assured your money is safe. Please allow for one business day. Have a great weekend!"

So........is ZipZap supposed to refund this?  Or am I waiting on Bitinstant?

Thanks.

Thats bitinstant for working with me and helping me to obtain a refund. Zipzap says its been mailed and I will have it by friday next week.. Can you recommend a secondary way to buy bitcoin while your system is down? I dont have any BOA around me. Have about 3k I need to turn to btc.

Im forseeing the price to drop as so many ppl use bitinstant, without your service up all weekend, less btc is bought and i believe price will drop a bit.

Re most recent Bitinstant problems and Gareth's suggestion that they contact ZipZap:

I did and here is the prompt, professional reply from ZipZap on my transaction:

"Mar 02 07:03 (PST)

We are sorry for the delay in processing but you will need to contact BitInstant directly to get it resolved. ZipZap received payment confirmation and sent payment notification to BitInstant. Even though the BitInstant site is unavailable for new orders, they have assured us that payments are being processed."

BitInstant support is nonexistent.

Forwarding details of my failed Bitinstant transaction to Gareth and Yankee as requested.  ZipZap's prompt and professional support has already responded with:

Try contacting gareth or yankee. Theyve both been very prompt and helpful regarding my recent money gram. Between them and zipzap i was able to have my $500 refunded.. Its going to take some time considering the volume of customers who have had issues within the last week, be patient, it is evident they are working to correct their mistakes.

I'd be cautious about using mt gox unless you are prepared to verify your id...they have a habit of randomly asking for it and will freeze your funds until you deliver. Not saying this will happen for sure but there is a chance..

A simple question for Yankee or Gareth but I think the reply should be visible on this forum:

On Monday, 3/1 around 9:00 EST, a number of Bitinstant deposits were lost, after which your web site suddenly became unavailable.  Was Bitinstant responsible and are you working on it?

Not speaking for anyone but I was told by bitinstant that their reserves were low, and SEVERAL transactions had become "STUCK" (their words) and they were working to correct their issues, and complete transactions. I am assuming they are having issues with either obtaining bitcoin or their website.. Or both. Also Reading back a couple weeks ago, it seems they were hacked at some point and have been having issues for some time.. I just hope they handle business and are back on the up and up soon. With their site being down Im having hella troubles obtaining btc... My fiat money doesnt do anything but lose value and burn a hole in my pocket each day.. I gotta find somewhere to buy large volume BTC

Hi all,

Ive been using bitcoin for a while now often times through coinapult. However recently it ate my bitcoin. I sent them to m1ndset@tormail.org however after a day i have yet to receive their email. I checked the transaction via blockchain and it definitely went through, the only thing i can think of is i may have put a typo in my email address. I filled out the coinapult form as follows.

To: m1ndset@tormail.org (I think. Could have been a typo)
From: 1D7r6rziy4xTc8vB6TUycAueJUP4AekmVi (that is a bitcoin wallet i own i put its name in the from field from organization purposes)
Message: I hope this works (ironic that it didn't)

I am a little worried that even if no one claims them coinapult will never send them back to me since i didn't put an email in the "From" box. ANY HELP WORLD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED (and if i ever find this lost bitcoin i will throw some the way of who ever helps me find them.)

True.  Myself I don't regularly use them any more (at least not for large sums) for this reason, in fact after the Bitfloor freeze and Crypto XChange belly up thing... I converted all but a few hundred BTC back into a basket of traditional currencies.   The above recommendation is merely a workaround for those who want to get their funds sent somewhere (and not sitting in Bitinstant waiting for BTC-E, etc. reserves LIMBO).   Jack Be Nimble Jack Be Quick...... la la la la la la la lala.......
