Most didn't sell their decreds and bought more.
And most of the other 400, bought decred.

January 13, 2016, 10:40:41 AM: Less than 4 days later, less than 100 new members joined the Brazilian Decred Facebook page, bringing the total up to 200 members, ALL of them "really interested in investing in that currency." I'd say that if ALL of them are "really" interested in investing, then they ALL would've been smart enough to take advantage of the airdrop which will closed its signup process in 5 days (January 18, 2016).

The airdrop initiative has been finalised, and the project is now in a position to present a general overview of what has transpired and provide more information about the network distribution when mainnet is launched in the future.
In total, 3,244 participants have successfully completed the airdrop confirmation process through the submission of a Decred address. The airdrop opened with the public announcement of Decred on December 15th, 2015 and closed on January 18th, 2016. The airdrop sign up was open for 34 days and participants joined the project from 99 different countries. The top fifteen countries based on the IP addresses of successful participants are as follows (in percentages):

How is it that on January 13 there were right at 200 diehard Brazilian Decred fans ready to buy DCR, expressing that they're going to take advantage of the airdrop, but come 12 days later on the 25th we were presented with ONLY 185 Brazilians taking advantage of the airdrop?
Is it possible that exponential growth ceases to exist upon reaching a certain threshold in Brazil?
